I keep mine filled with water too, rather than carry water bottles. Saves space. It also means my meat gets boiled so not quite as much calorific value, but still pretty good. If you are sterilising water, once the steam starts coming out, it's good to go. I haven't tried cooking meat without water but when boiling meat, it makes a slightly different noise when it's cooked. The easy way though is to watch it in your inventory. When you see it's cooked, turn it off. I'm not sure why you're struggling to turn it on sometimes. Maybe try up and down on the dpad. That changes the option from pick up to turn on.

No, I don't see a pattern. I do see people moan whatever devs do to the game. I can also see just enough to see where I'm going. Maybe you're TV is too dark but I'm sure the nights are slightly lighter because before the update I couldn't see anything and now I can. Maybe if its that bad for you, join a private server with a three second night. How's that for immersive realism.

Lol, he was class. Genuinely sounded anxious when that guy with the torch appeared. Funniest but though was the water tank incident. Probably less said, the better!

I don't recall ever hearing mention of that ratio being suggested. You might enjoy a community server with shorter night perhaps?

If it's anything like the Ark servers, bigger number means longer. Ark was also nitrado so logic might follow but I don't know for sure.

I guess it also depends how bothered you are about random respawn. If your location on the map changing each time you log in then I guess it's not too bad. Obviously if you're heading somewhere then stick to one server. Just favorite the server so you don't forget.

Like @Stagman70, I too also don't get on for days at a time because of work and family commitments. I also see the sense on what Yeti is saying. Ideally we want duping eliminated. But even though I don't like the idea of regular wipes, it seems preferable to tent city. I guess the best thing is to wait and see how bad the duping gets.

So don't change server. If you don't like night time find a community server with shorter night cycle. Or, have a character on a community server and another character in official server. That way you can switch characters to avoid night or whatever you want. But you surely realise that the solution currently on place is better than having server hoppers and ghosters.

It doesn't matter how long between sessions, if you change server you get random respawn. Get used to it. This has eliminated ghosting and server hopping for loot.

I've also found that the spawn points for changing server aren't just costal either. The twice I've done it both landed me inland. Had a funny experience last night with @bearjew1101. Spent a couple of hours heading across the map to meet up. Finally got to novo. Passed through town heading to meet at the big arch railway bridge. Conversation as follows... Me - I'm on the field near the bridge. I'll put my torch on so you can see me. Bear - yeah, me too. I've got my torch on. Me - I can't see you, I'm on the road under the bridge now with my torch on. Bear - me too, I'm under the bridge with my torch on and I can't see you either. Me - hang on, can we just check what server we're both on... You know the rest 🙄

So there is no kos on fpp? I don't know what you hope to gain by trying to bait people. The game has both options and always has. Nobody is forcing you to play 3pp so why do you feel the need to flex your online macho man persona? Only one 'girly man' in this thread that I can see 😘
