What the fuck is wrong with loot in this game?
DayzDayzFanboy replied to DarthGickna123's topic in General Discussion
Just need to look in the right places. There are lots of threads with advice, but... Boats on the cost, infected, greenhouses, chickens, hunting, fishing. If, in 10km, you've only looked in ten buildings (one of which sounds like an apartment building, they don't really spawn loot) then I'm not surprised you haven't found much. Especially on the coast. If you're really struggling, try joining a community server, most of them have boosted loot. -
The countdown timer is fifteen seconds, no way around that as far as I know. Of course, you can play however you choose, but combat logging is generally regarded as not being cricket!

I suspect you were just unlucky and also in a relatively popular area. I was once logging out in a house in the middle of nowhere in the west and a guy logged in right next to me. Before I had a chance to do anything he shot me. There was also another occasion when I was checking the hunting stand near the military camp at Staroye and a guy logged in right on front of me. I took no chances and shot him. He was probably server hopping mil bases back when you could. Generally I tend to log out in a bush or tree rather than in a building, though I may log out in a building if I have a lockpick to lock the door with.

Zombies getting stuck and not aggroing
DayzDayzFanboy replied to kumando's topic in General Discussion
Such a martyr -
Cross play would certainly be a welcome feature. Not sure about the map though. There are in game maps to use and if you need something to share locations with friends there is izurvive.

I find it really bizarre that you still lurk on the forum of a game you stopped playing because you hate it so much. -
You can favourite the server on the server list which highlights the star on the left. Also, when you're logged on to the server, if you go onto the menu and show the player list, the server name is at the top.

Whipped? With a stick or a lash 🤔

If you switch to another official server you keep your character but will spawn in a different location. That's the nature of dayz. It's a big map. You might go a long time without meeting another player but that makes the encounters all the more intense. Check the server population, but even a full server might appear quiet depending upon where you are. You're more likely to meet players in certain areas such as the coast or certain towns. There are heat maps showing the most visited places if you Google it.
-
Well, can't find any of the servers on xbox.
-
Ah, yeah. I think once you load up your server and go back to menu it fixes it, but quitting the game resets it. Your character is still OK in the server though.

Broken how?
-
I joined the discord, but seem unable to chat? Just says no permissions?
-
Interested in the hardcore servers. Are there more details on your discord?
-
Pretty sure you already posted this once, but anyway... If a player or infected is up close to you, you can knock them back with your weapon before shooting them. If you think about it logically how could you raise a rifle at someone pressed up against you. You'd have to knock them back right?

@VodkaFish I play the game because, for all its faults, no other game gives the same heart pounding adrenaline when you suddenly encounter other players. No, I'm not on the payroll, and the user name is tongue in cheek. It just seems to me that the things you seek in this game are things you would find in other games. I wasn't for one second asking you to shut the door on the way out. I recall suggesting Ark, because of you're looking for an online multiplayer experience with in depth base building, skills, progression and recognition, that game has it all. I don't see why you're so upset with me. I never suggested you didn't have taste. I don't like pubg because those type of games aren't to my taste. I've played lots of games that aren't to my taste. I simply don't play them again. I don't hack my way round forums bitching about it like some entitled brat. Ever been to see a film you didn't enjoy? Did you ask for your money back? Pfft, smh
-
I guess some games aren't to everyone's taste. Maybe best to move on then because people have complained about various aspects of the game for years.

I'm finding plenty of flares. Dayz has been cleverly programed with psychic ability and knows what you are looking for. What you need to do is pretend you're looking for blue tracksuit bottoms.

I commit suicide because of the flu!
DayzDayzFanboy replied to meccaspy's topic in General Discussion
Was it definitely a cold, we're you coughing, etc? It lasts quite a while. As far as I know vitamin pills are the thing to take. I've had cold last ages. Especially if your character is in the blue temperature range. Why did you suicide? -
You can favourite your server.
-
Yeah, of course there is also always the chance someone is watching you go to your stash. I don't bother hiding loot anymore. I keep what I can carry and generally travel light. When I die I die. I never go back to my body. But hiding barrels to me seems more realistic than building a big fort in the woods!
-
Well, seeing as this is Russia with high forest density wood would be the first obvious material people would use. But this is all academic. We have what the game provides. There are other games such as Ark which have more in depth base building. But dayz isn't really focused on base building. Sure, it's a nice distraction but any base can be broken into whatever material you use. You're far better off stashing loot where it can't be found rather than building a beacon for everyone to see.
-
Yet it would probably take about that long in real life to smash through a wooden fence with a pick axe, assuming you weren't trying hard. So, to say it's broken isn't really a fair assessment. I think you're more upset that we can't use more advanced building materials such as bricks and mortar or concrete. I seem to recall a mod years ago where you could use concrete. Personally I don't think bases should be impregnable. People stash loot which then takes it out of the CLE. If the CLE didn't cap certain items, then great. Introduce safes or impregnable bases, but as it is, the only way to access high end gear on some servers is to raid bases. Nothing is forever in dayz.
-
Worth it? Depends how you look at it. If you want an objective and something to do in game then it's worth it. If you want it to protect your stash then you're better off burying or hiding it somewhere.

Returning player, been 2 years. What's new?
DayzDayzFanboy replied to boggle's topic in General Discussion
Just fire it up and try it
