We used to have that feature and it was removed fairly early on. Not sure why though I heard it caused issues.

The exact same items cannot be combined as one.

Double check that they are the same type of ammo, ie armour piercing, tracer round, etc. -
I suspect that inappropriate use of pen and paper is why we can't have nice things. That said, Minecraft has signs and books you can write and if I'm not mistaken it is coded so that offensive language is censored? I'd love to be able to craft a sign saying "fresh veg" and have a veg stall on the road to kamy.

Yeah, I remember this, way back. I've seen the ice axe in community servers (though not in a long time) but never saw the shovel so maybe there were issues. But I'd certainly like a small trench shovel you could attach to certain back packs.

How do I take a car-tent down again?
DayzDayzFanboy replied to Jonas Levin's question in Troubleshooting
Umm, this seems like an old thread now, but to add my two penneth worth, if you stand outside the tent looking at the corner that has the bag, you get the prompt. -
I can't even replicate it on normal multiplayer servers. I've driven loads of cars and have yet to see one fly. The worst I've had is the screen freeze briefly and lagging, occasionally spinning off the road. I'm not saying it doesn't happen of course. It just hasn't ever happened to me.

Maybe also then introduce metal detectors

Infected are a one hit if taken from behind. This really encourages stealthy game play. I was taking down aggro infected with three or four hits with an axe. I dunno, this feels about right to me. I actually like almost being knocked unconscious when you have a couple attacking you. Infected have been so weak and easy to avoid up till now. The game is more challenging as a result. But that's just my take on it. The other point you were making about loot having function, I can only think of glasses. Pretty sure most items in game have a function now don't they? I'm also (personally) happy with nights as they are. I hate the night light on 3pp servers, but I only play hardcore servers anyway so not really an issue. If you make the nights light like other games then it becomes pointless. There are lots of ways to see at night, flashlight, improv torch, glow stick, head lamp, nvg. Then it becomes a tactical choice. I generally manage to navigate at night without a light source and really only need it when looting indoors. Obviously a light source can give away your position, so you make that choice. But there are also lots of community servers with short or lighter nights if you don't like the dark nights. I like to hole up, cook food, repair gear or travel from place to place without fear of being seen. We all know that dayz has various issues, nobody disputes that. But there is also nothing else quite like dayz

What's wrong with the nights? Also, we do have fish of course, but rabbits would be nice to see again. I find melee fine personally. Not sure cars will ever really get fixed.

On console?

I think I've found one since they were introduced. Just luck of the draw on official

Well, whenever I've heard thunder it scared the bejeezus out of me
-
Thunder is already in of course but yes more ambient and regional sounds are always welcome. Personally, I miss the old bird sounds I remember from watching FrankieonPC and Mr Blackout

Radio signal from the tower near Zelenograd
DayzDayzFanboy replied to maxon-69's topic in General Discussion
Personally I don't see how anyone can play games on a mouse and keyboard, but I guess it's what you get used to. I don't have any issues on xbox -
Suggestions for a better game
DayzDayzFanboy replied to KommanderWar-94971bcb672f9055's topic in Suggestions
I'm personally not keen on the blood splashes round the edge of the screen, looks like CoD. -
It was in for quite a while and never made me sick personally but it didn't give much nutrition. More useful as a heat pack
-
Yeah, herbs and poutices would be a good addition as another way to create medicines, especially if you're out of luck looting hospitals. The Long Dark utilises this idea. Coffee boosting stamina for short periods, herbal tea to help with sickness, etc.
-
They must have changed it then in recent updates. You could cook worms and use them as heat packs or eat them. I always thought the heat pack trick was a bit of an exploit really.
-
You used to be able to, not sure if it's changed
-
I think of you were able to craft some sort of funnel to catch the water, otherwise it would take a looong time to fill
-
Yes, I appreciate that, though actually you can craft a bone fishing hook. That's a real thing. I guess all I'm saying is, it would be impossible to can food from an old tin as you wouldn't be able to reseal it. Creating preserves with a cooking pot and an empty jam jar would be more feasible.

Building a base is, for me, maybe something I would do if I was bored. But building a base to protect loot seems bizarre to me. Just a big sign saying "Rob me". Burying loot or stashing in ponds or rivers is the only way to ensure safe stash (and even then it might be found). The general consensus here is that indestructible bases are a bad idea, and for good reason. There is no argument in favour of it. In reality, you wouldn't always be home, you'd be out and about looting. Nothing is forever in dayz and people really struggle with this game unless they truly understand that.

I was thinking more for boiling water on a stove to purify. I think someone also once suggested crafting an alarm with cans and rope. Of course, we all know the best use...two cans joined together with a long string 😉
-
Canning food is a little more complicated than that! But it would be useful to be able to keep an empty can for other uses.

It used to be.
