No worries. Supposedly in the new stable patch on PC they hinted at an answer for this but I may be spreading misinformation in saying that. I'm guessing in the form of rolling back servers in case of unintentional persistence wipes? If it does indeed work it is probably something that will be ported over to us on Xbox. Per the (PC) patch notes: "Undesirable persistence wipes were definitely among the most annoying issues reported in 1.0. With 1.01, we're introducing a system of Persistence Backups that aims meant to prevent problems with saving of the persistence data on the servers. This system will be available to both official and community owned server. We've seen some pretty good results on the Experimental branch so far. In any case, we will still be closely monitoring all incoming reports should any loot, bases, or other persistence data get deleted after server crashes/restarts."

I didn't know about the smoke either, thanks for sharing! May have some potential for sending signals or luring unsuspecting folks into houses.

Proving it aside, would Microsoft even care with its still being in Preview mode?

Base building is in but is still mired with persistence problems. As such, I've been staying away from it, especially since (as a I pretty much only play solo until the game gets stable enough for my friends to give it another chance) I would need a car to haul supplies to and from the build site, which has its own problems.

Same here, 1-2 hours at the current darkness level would be ideal for me (or perhaps include a moon cycle that would give some nights more light than others). Keeps light sources relevant, changes up the play style for a period of time and possibly gives players a chance to travel to and loot high value areas while server hoppers move toward servers with daylight, and provides some immersion for those that like using the night as a chance to chill, put down a campfire and tent, and carb-up on those (hopefully not human) steaks.

I honestly don't see them investing in and maintaining servers exclusively dedicated to one control interface, but who knows. Maybe they will. If not, then excluding one over the other may likely only be seen in private/ custom servers (if made an option).

I don't think it is an issue of console players lacking patience due to games like COD. I think its just a matter of there not being anything to do in the game except death match until more content and stability updates roll out. Right now I'm content with just freely exploring/ hiking and attempting to hunt critters as I'm still getting familiar with the game map. After a while though I might find myself down on the coast death matching too. Though I'll more likely just put the game aside until more content rolls out. Might see the player base rebound a bit at that point.

Backpack inventory theft

Tried it with my brother when his back was turned lol. No it doesn't seem to work on Xbox. However, I didn't test during a knockout, maybe next time I'll give that a shot when he is unawares... -
It could be just due to overfilling your stomach rather than sickness, or it is bugged. Unfortunately, I also don't see the stomach icon change when i chow down on a can of tactical bacon either. However, if I am staying hydrated, I find that I will puke after eating a whole can of bacon, likely due to the large amount of energy it provides. As such, I've been just eating it a quarter or half a can at a time as needed instead of all in one sitting. I never puke when I follow this method.

Find a melee weapon, find a great helm, and find a black raincoat. Find a bridge or dam, stand in center of said bridge or dam, wait for players to come into proxy chat range (or find a megaphone) and exclaim: "NONE SHALL PASS!" or "THE BLACK KNIGHT ALWAYS TRIUMPHS!".

I recall some of the old Frankie1080P videos where he discussed this exact consequence of playing the game after a certain amount of time with a certain frame of mind. Correct me if I'm wrong but, as a sandbox game, I think I remember him saying he always approached DayZ (even when not making scripted and edited story videos) with a sort of story or goal in mind. And this was back in the days of the mod which had more features, base building, etc. Perhaps this kind of touches on what OP is getting at where, without at least a little bit of imagination/ inventing of goals/ role playing on the part of the player, you may get bored and run out of things to do in the game. Obviously, features yet to be added would make this easier compared to the current build. These goals might be as simple as reaching a specific point of the map or finding a specific piece of equipment, finding someone in need of help, claiming and clearing a base or town for your group (not much of a use for this though with the current instability of servers) hunting animals or bandits (or engaging in your own sporadic banditry), etc. Just some suggestions to keep you going in the meantime. Cheers.

Looking forward to when they implement an improvised bow (though I might be biased from those satisfying head-shots in The Last of Us). At least then you can put that that hatchet to use in getting your hands on a ranged weapon early on.

Prior to the update I grabbed an AKM. I was kinda indifferent about it, but I later attached a PSO-1 scope to it and really like the look of it. Plus being able to toggle between ADS and scope in 1st person is a neat change.

1. Yes 2. Tried a few US servers, each had this issue 3. Skofield_Kid

Also lost all my gear after installing the update. My equipped gear is still there, but I've lost everything in my inventory. In addition, after trying to relog thinking that might help, whenever I log out and log back in, I also loose any gear previously picked up that isn't equipped.
