When you drive your car in the city and suddenly you pull-aside just because you saw a barrel. True story.
-
In watchtowers, the hole in the roofs of 1st & 2nd floors should only exist after building the stairs.
Right now it's a useless hole in the floor and a little bit annoying when you build a set of towers side-by-side or in any complex structure.
-
Maybe they pissed off everybody, and almost got traumatized by the amount of hate this forum can generate after each update.
I think it's for the best, since they handled the PR very badly at least since August 2018.
And using Twitter to make official announcement is un-professional. How about using a web notification service in the forum? it's free to use and to implement nowadays.

9 minutes ago, ImpulZ said:- Tweaked: The output of sawing planks from Lumber Pile is now tripled
Finally !
But what about the rest of the bugs with the lumber planks ?
1. Doesn't let you pile up more than 12 on your hands, but you can pile up 20 if you hold 8 and combine them with 12.
2. If you drag a pile of 20 to your inventory, it will only store 10 units in a pile. But when double clicking it - will store all the 20.
3. Any action that involves dragging a pile of 20 lumber planks to anywhere (ground or any inventory like bag, tent or car) will split it to piles of 10.
4. Sawing off planks with a Saw drops planks in the air (irritating and time consuming since you need to move all the time), but when using an axe (??) they are laid out beautifully next to feet.
The problem wasn't sawing off piles of 3 or 9, the rest of the actions are a big mess and time consuming and really not fun.

I think what he meant was:
In DayZ: When you're approaching a curve at a high speed, your vehicle will not turn, although you are trying to steer.
Even if you'll lose speed (by braking a little and/or shift to a lower gear), your vehicle will not gain it's traction back and launch you out of the curve.
The only way to avoid this situation currently is to:
1. Slow down a bit before the curve
2. Shift to a lower gear
3. Hit the gas, a split second after entering the curve (exactly at the point where you feel the wheels were supposed to grip the road).
Tested and Verified with the Gunter (Exp. 1.03)

You know what's fun? Playing the game and enjoying the survival elements with friends and constantly being on the lookout for potential dangers.
You know what isnt fun? Running around for 2 hours to do nothing more than loot in order to keep your character just above the brink of starvation.
As a serious past critic of the direction this game has taken, this is probably my favorite thing they have done. I get to enjoy the game, while still keeping an eye on my food meter to make sure it doesnt dip too low.
What I meant was that you should work for your food, store it, trade it and appreciate it, instead of finding it everywhere just to maintain your food meter.

Last time my character was hungry, it was in 2018 and this was when I returned to play dayZ after a long break.
Unfortunately, the only skill you need today to "survive" dayZ is to aim right.
A "food can" should be something so rare that one would kill for it, vegetables and fruit should be found in the wild in abundance.
-
I really like the controls as they are. Much closer to realism than other games.
I just wonder if they will dare to implement a clutch someday. Only players aged above 30 will be able to drive then, which is another step towards a safer apocalyptic world 🙂

2 hours ago, Kirov (DayZ) said:What I mean first and foremost is, obviously, how the 'S' key works first like a brake and then like the rear gear. What is this? And the whole engine RPM shtick works badly at the moment, but at least it's there.
S always functions as brakes. You put the gear in Reverse and hit the gas with "W" to drive backwards. I think most of the problems in vehicles originates from server/sync/lag issues, not lack of development. I mean, sure, a car honk would be a nice addition but network problems are more urgent and basic to address.

Thank you, this tip fixed my problem.

I think version 1.02 is the most stable version they got out so far, and I truly believe that this was a successful outcome of the new goals they have set, which are basically to release a full working game with all the basic functions to experience the basic DayZ.
If you'll browse the forums back to the times when they released an update/fix twice a week (0.63 marathon), the community went mad and crazy like shareholder losing their investments on every release.
The new pace of the updates has proven to be better, since the last 2 updates (1.01, 1.02) improved and stabilized the game more than ever.
For those veterans who played the game for years, it's very painful to see the game missing so much content, but i'm sure (I hope..) that within a few BIG updates and by the end of the year, we will be back on tracks.

Correct, but the publisher can invest more money and expand the dev team. I believe this usually requires bringing in some investors and to do so, the product should be promising, or at least hyped.
The game IS promising, and we're past the hype, but BI is investing itself in a game that most companies tend to avoid because it's risky and is a long-term development. So far, BI is doing it better than the others, and on it's own pace.
I just wish they would prioritize their goals and spend their time on completing and polishing first all PvE features, then PvP (guns, basebuilding, restrain, etc) and lastly - vehicles (land, sea and air).
-
The update is nice, but I cannot re-fill the new car (Olga / Volga) with fuel or oil.
I checked the Stable discussion, and it seems that it's broken in the Stable release as well.

On 2/23/2019 at 2:01 PM, Evilsausage said:But atleast to me it feels like 98% of the players don't bother with this feature. I know both cars and basebuilding is wonky, but ffs its 1.0. Can't this be balanced properly? This is supposed to be a major part of the endgame, isn't it a massive failure if barely anyone bothers with it? How many more years are we gonna have to wait for the game to be conciderd finished?
It just depends on what kind of a player are you.
In my opinion, your feeling that 98% of the players don't bother to build - is right, because this is being designed as a secondary feature.
While apparently, the first feature is combat.
If you'll build a base, this is what you should expect:
1. The more items you keep - The more emotional stress you get. Everyday you leave your base out there, "locked" and unmanned while you're offline, you'll think about it all the time and pray no one found it already.
2. Great feeling of accomplishment. But prepare yourself for technical disappointments and frustrations on the way.
3. Having a self-sustained base that provides you some basic security, especially when having wolves in your area is great. I only wish there were more wild predators out there.
4. Hunt some animals, make a garden plot, make a fire, roast the vegi's - and that's your endgame. Game Over in 3 days.
So, why is this boring? and why most of the players just skip that part ? Because they just don't need it.
1. Your character doesn't carry any real sign of being a long-time survivor. Your character have a beard - but it has 2 modes: no beard OR a seven-days-without-shaving-beard.
2. The environment doesn't really affect you. Not in way that urges you to find any shelter at any time. Not talking just about body temp..
3. Stashing and building causes lags, BUT, I can't say anything bad about persistence - never lost a single thing.
4. You have TONS of food where there should be NONE. A post-apocalyptic world will hold like 10 cans of .. anything, all over, after a few months only. Also, the zombies will bring you food if you'll ask them. Oh, and they bring you axes too! My point is - you will never starve to death, your strength has nothing to do with your health (BUT! you have vitamins! + hospitals and what-nots).
What's left to do? Guns.
Nothing to shoot? Here are some un-related zombies for you.
See you next year... OR Have some fun now

Can we make this game a little bit smarter ?
1. Reduce drastically all weapons and ammunition spawns (locations and quantity). If a weapon was found, it should be 90% of the time in a badly-damaged / broken condition until it's repaired. And what's broken, should be repaired, not thrown away.
2. Reduce the hilarious amounts of food and soda cans everywhere, and increase all organic food spawns. A food can should be more precious than any weapon.
3. Zombies are irrelevant, surviving humans and animals is hard enough. When you're hungry, everything is justified.
4. We need a lot more wild predators like the amazing wolves. Wild boars should attack humans if they sense him. This is the end of the world, fellas, it is expected from animals to dominate again their turfs.
5. NWAF and Tisy should be the ONLY (known) places to obtain weapons. They should be surrounded by massive herds of wolves and / or other natural predators, to make it harder to get in and out from those places.
6. Stamina - Jogging is nice, but should be limited as well. The stamina bar should go down very slowly as long as you jog.
Base Building:
1. If I'm standing in the wild and I have a shovel and an axe and I want to make a stash - I just dig a hole, fill it with sticks and cover it. What's the big issue ? Why can't we have the basics first ?
2. Watchtowers should allow to add another module - "Stash unit". A big wooden box that should be attached to an inner wall, and should be allowed to create 1 per tower. Also, the player should be able to lock it with a lock.
3. Personal shelters combining 1 dead animal skin + 1 long stick, where are they? How can you start a base
4. IRL - If I had to move a barrel or metal sheets or anything heavy for long distances - I'd start with wheels. And if I have a half- broken car sitting next to me for decades and it's FUBAR or it take too much effort to fix it, I would use 2 wheels + wood + ropes to build a carriage. No need for horses, only a Sancho Panza.

Since the last update I cannot:
1. Open canned sardines
2. Deploy a fence with pickaxe
3. Use binoculars
4. Can't open seeds packs
Also, when deploying a tent, if I turn to the sides in the last second before the animation is done, the tent does not deploy. Instead, it appears deployed in my hands and only dropping it and picking it up again solves this.
Update:
After I ran the Integrity Check, I was able to open the Tuna Can (I posted sardines, meant Tuna, the yellow box) and a Pack of Seeds.
5 minutes later (same session), I tried to open another tuna can and it "broke" again, can't open it.
Threw away the pickaxe
Will try the Bino's next time.
I really don't know what to tell you guys, I don't want to mislead anyone. Maybe it's a server-related issue.

Now I can open tuna cans and seeds, but still can't use binoculars and pickaxe.

Server browser is a disaster.
My game crashes after a minute if I don't stop the browser and prevent it to search itself to oblivion.
I have no choice but to use a 3rd party app to search for servers and join them.
Is this how am I supposed to play the game from now on ?

- We should be able to train a wolf and put it on guard when needed, or take it with us for hunting / journeys.
- Barbed Wires are supposed to keep a distance from you and the fence, so you won't be able to interact with it, but you will need to use pliers first to get rid of them, and then an axe to destroy the fence.
- When you destroy a fence - Instead of having an option to destroy the entire fence, you should be prompted to destroy each plank or metal sheet in the fence, so you''ll need to destroy them piece by piece to be able to get through.
- You should be able to build an Underground Storage Unit inside the base - using wood, metal and the right tools, to store your item. For example: you place the kit wherever you want to build it, then you dig it (should take a long time, or multiple excavations to complete this step) so you create a big hole, then add wood and metal sheets and nails and build it once. The final structure should have 2 appearances: Covered and Uncovered. And you use a shovel to hide (cover) it. And you should be able to place anything on top of it. Otherwise it's not really practical. Also, this structure should be an underground option for watchtowers, so it could save you a lot of space and allow more flexible designs. Just a thought :)

Sorry mate, but you're wrong.
We have a private server too, without mods. We've been building a base for days until one day everything started to ghost.
According to other people's tips in here, saying that it's related to the last update - we wiped the server and started all over again, and it was fine for 2 days.
Yesterday the bug occurred again and nothing is usable: we can't climb towers, we can't build/dismantle/destroy, and can't interact with anything that was built already.
We are experiencing many of the known bugs and we are patient, but if you're into testing out base building features - this bug is a killer.

Just how you described it - Held a bottle of water, aimed for the barrel and a "Pour Liqiud" showed up. I thought I just poured it on the ground by accident but it went straight to the barrel.
There is a slot inside the barrel for "Lime", I remember putting it there but can't remember if it was before or after the water part, it didn't work, anyway. Pool sheep, killed for nothing... :)
Dear Dev-Team, can we get some ANSWERS regarding the FUTURE of our beloved GAME?

We need a power plant that can be repaired and an elecreicity grid so we will be able to light up a village or town.
That's what I would do if the world ever comes to it's end.
So I just want to know if this kind of survival is going to be implemented until next year or should I invest my time in something else?
