  1. They are doing it wrong.

They should have invested their time on re-inventing the concept of a DayZ "realm" which should have been controlled by a set of servers, part dedicated to control the world's settings, and the other part dedicated to host different maps, or in other words - different parts of the world.

I don't understand how they expect a single server to handle fire fights, speeding cars, massive hoarding, free roaming NPC's and controlled weather. And lets not forget the high pingers, connection packet-losses, etc - all in the same time, every second.

It's not the size that matters, it's how you use it!

If it's a lie then why do we even have a worse game then we had.

Bohemia tried to explain this many times in the last year:

    This is DayZ remastered.

In the past 2 years they developed the game on a new engine and added many animations to make the game feel and look better, only to allow them to continue development with better results and extend the life of the game for years.

So they are not picking up from where they "left it" at build 0.62 and now they are being lazy. They are actually re-developing everything again, except for the assest, which will probably change in the future also.

    Have some faith.

  3. Is it bugged or just incomplete ?

I can't see a battery slot when I open the inventory GUI next to to the broadcast system.

I managed to turn it on only once by attaching a car battery directly (not from the inventory GUI) and broadcast to a friend nearby.

After an hour we came back and it was turned off. The battery was still full and we turned it off before leaving.

We tried to attach another battery (truck), but now we can't turn on the broadcast system anymore.

    Is it a known issue?

I can talk about Battlefield too, free maps and even free Battleroyal mode (firestorm) for BF5.

And those games have no MAJOR issues that prevent you using major features (never had a tank rolling and scratching in BF).

    LOL

BFV DID have a very bad year with MAJOR issues that lasted for such a long time, they lost a very big portion of their community.

And Firestorm was a poor decision that cost DICE heavily, because it wasn't so popular, it just was a test to see if BF players likes the battle royal mode, which most of them didn't. That's why it was free.

BTW - DayZ also released "Survivor GameZ" (for PC) which is also a free battle-royal mode.

Can't we expect more from a dev team like BI?

Maybe Dean Hall should take back the project, then we could forgive him, alone, for the lack of everything.

Dean Hall is a very ambitious man, and we thank him for this, but bringing him back will not magically complete the work of a full team of developers.

Try to be patient about the development of this game, find your Zen.

DayZ Underground (US) and DayZ Down Under (AUS) are the closest servers to that with decent population.

DayZ Underground and DDU are great servers. Actually I had a blast on DUG lately, but I agree with the OP:

DayZ vanilla should be much more challenging, and less depending on mods.

Mods should be a way for the community to add/theme/diversify the gameplay, not complete the missing functions. Unfortunately, this is how Modding works in DayZ nowadays; just to fill the void.

Imagine a Dayz with 95% loot cut (and say, with more crafting options and other features). How this situation isn't PVE challenging? Yes, you got a friend of yours - so you still have one rusty handgun and three damaged bullets between you two. How does that help in a deer hunt? And now you have to feed two people - imagine sharing that apple you found. And bandages, because you just can't find a tincture to disinfect rags. And you have to kill more cows to get that sweet leather clothing, as there's only 1 high-cap and 2 assault vests per server. And to fix a car, you have to find tools in an area which is just lousy with tougher zeds/predators/contamination (I remind you, you share one pistol, oh and one of you found a Hazmat hood, so only the other is coughing blood - the one who doesn't have infection from dirty rags, because you used up the bandages two towns ago and now you're both using your pants to stop bleeding).

I want to play THIS game.

Food cans, like many other items in the game, seems to me like "placeholders" or temporary source until they implement new sources of food, like fishery, at least.

Maybe after 1.06 update we will find less beans and more books on the shelves, it makes a good fire source in a rainy night if you're stuck without an axe.

To be honest, I think it is more of a case of getting used to. Diseases should be hindering or in come cases lethal. Sure some tweaking could be in order. Such as making the incubation time longer and adding gradations to the diseases. So that it starts mild but becomes worse over time when not treated.

It's not about getting used to hygiene and treat yourself when you're sick. It just happens too fast and it needs to be tweaked and slowed down, same as blood loss.

And I think that in both cases the character should drop and become unconscious once or twice before he/she dies.

Players should be able to treat others, when they need medical help.

  8. Bad design, it is.

I got sick from a contaminated bottle of water...

My hunger and hydration started to drop rapidly, so I had something to eat but I ate maybe too much (like 2-3 bites more than I should), started to vomit, my hunger dropped to yellow, thirst dropped to red.

The well was on the other side of the town, I died on the way.

The entire tragedy took 5 minutes.

but dried meat has a better calorie to volume ratio, if your' not too concerned about hydration.

Question - I checked the wiki and in says:

"Dried -- Cook in a pot that is otherwise empty: no water, no lard while keeping items to be cooked under 100 degrees."

Do you use a stone oven to dry meat ?

  10. Because:

    1. Storage units are rare to find (tents and chests) and vehicles are hard to assemble and maintain (vehicles).

    2. In reality, you will never store firewood in your pockets, you cars, tents and or any special containers. You just pile them up.

    3. Firewood takes up a lot of space in storage.

  11. I would like to have the ability to store firewood in a proper stack with persistency.

    For example:

    1. Pile 6 items of firewood in your hands (which can't be done in the current version, 1.05)

    2. When aiming at the floor, a new interaction should appear - "Create a Firewood Pile".

    3. This will place the firewood in a pile, and it should represent the quantity visually. (Similar to the piles of planks that are located at the lumber yards, only smaller)

The reason I'm suggesting this is because everytime we build a base, we end up with a big amount of firewood. Also, this could be a nice visual and practical addition to bases and camps.

Storing the firewood is a waste of space, burning them all night long is a hassle, and leaving then on the ground is a waste of materials.

    • (Un)equipping the Combat Knife has wrong sounds. (Has magazine sounds.)

This bug happens to me when the knife is stored in a sheath or boots.

Also, the cars consume too much fuel now. Can't drive anywhere without planning a stop at the nearest gas station.

Is this a clipping issue and does it mean I will have to pull down the watchtower and build it in a different spot?

    Yes

Is anybody else having similar issues?

    Yes

And does anyone have any suggestions?

Try to place the towers on an obstacle-free area.

I tried to build a watchtower next to a cabin and could not finish the 2nd floor because of the edge of the roof collided with it.

Also, there are servers with mods that allows you to place whatever wherever, you can try them out.

Cars have rarely been an issue on low pop servers.. only when med - full

    Uh..

Cars had tons of problem in handling, acceleration, braking on traction, braking/slowing down on curves until the previous Exp. release.

Low-populated servers are good for these kind of testings since most of the times the ping factor is eliminated, so, yes.

    Rejoice !

  15. I wanted to post this on "Experimental Update 1.04.151974":

Something changed in the vehicle's behavior, and now the car is a BLAST !

Just finished drifting with the Gunter on curves and narrow roads at 80-110 km/h, road blocks are much easier to drive-through, AND when I hit zombies softly with the car - they get pushed back nicely :)

    Great job devs !

What energy would you use to power your generator if  "the world ever comes to an end"?

    steam? = ( petrol ? or coal? or wood fire ? )

    - or a water wheel? - or windmills? - or slaves?

    - molten salt and solar mirrors ?

    - nuclear ?

I don't really care about that...

I just want some news, a status report or any official road-map / set of goals - anything.

When I bought the game a few years ago - I knew what to expect and I waited patiently.

Now I am being asked to wait a little more, while the developer decides not to reveal it's road map anymore.

Excuse me, but WTF? Where is the transparency?

It's not about the money and not about personal feelings or opinions regards the industry or the developers.

It's about selling a vision to your customers, sharing it with them, listening to them and growing with them.

That what makes a thriving gaming community.
