Yes and no @ImpulZ I'm just teasing here of course, but I work in a production level software development setting, and some of the sleepless nights, the hard work done under an ever dwindling deadline... it really is wizardry. Yes it's hard work, but it's mainly chai, tea or coffee that is the real wizard ;)

Sweet! Thanks for the new stability update guys! Glad to see the server messages got addressed

Listen, all due respect we get it. However, they had announced pre release that xbox would be missing content. But if you look at some development teams, that content could be reskinned as a season pass or a microtransaction. The most important thing for a game that is a PC port come to console is not content. It is stability. Once stability happens, the content flows. Now. To put a timeline in, BI Devs in their road map have speculated that Q1 2019 will be 1.0. Personally I believe it to be Q2-Q3. I too would like tents, vehicles, more weapons, and more content. But it will come. Please read the disclaimers on Game Previews. How does Xbox Game Preview work? Xbox Game Preview games can be purchased and played like regular titles. Because the games are still in development, they might be missing content, contain bugs, or need extra balancing work that will come later via updates. https://www.xbox.com/en-US/games/xbox-game-preview-faq

I'd buy that for a dollar!

Ah but if you get the chai before the bug report fix, there goes my bargaining chip. Gotta dangle it, like a $50 bill on a fishing pole. As I proclaim in my office walking around the developers and project managers desks with a tub of chai.... "Senority is irrelevant as he who holds the chai, controls the developers" ;)

Dayz standalone Full release Refund question.
Skruffy replied to harrykane140693's topic in New Player Discussion
There are rules and regulations in place that if you have played under a certain time you may refund. However if you consider BI history with other titles, I'm willing to give them a chance. I waited until ark was full release, spent way too much money, but hey. My first experience with an early access was rust. And I despised that game. Love the concept, hate the community. So I dont buy much into Early access, it isnt my cup of tea, but every once in a while, I support them. If for example you purchase an early access game and despise it because it isnt complete, yet come around an still purchase a game such as Call of a duty or Destinthingy.. I urge you to re-evaluate your purchasing priorities and take a serious look at the games you are buying... Also, I refer you to this disclaimer: https://store.steampowered.com/earlyaccessfaq Where you can read statements such as this: Its up to the developer to determine when they are ready to 'release'. Some developers have a concrete deadline in mind, while others will get a better sense as the development of the game progresses. You should be aware that some teams will be unable to 'finish' their game. So you should only buy an Early Access game if you are excited about playing it in its current state. Where you can have a chance to be a part of this: Get immediate access to games that are being developed with the community's involvement. These are games that evolve as you play them, as you give feedback, and as the developers update and add content. And the developer can do these with no limitations: Connect with your community early Get crucial feedback and bug reports Update as often as you'd like But hey, what do I know, atleast we get a complete game and not a microtransaction, season pass, collectors edition, drip fed, hunk of junk that is milking millions and millions from its community. But hey, cod is looking pretty new and different this year right? It's totally original like some early access games right? Buyer beware. Some have the money to throw away. Others dont. I game as a hobby. If it flops it flops. For every $10 spent, can I get 5 hours out of it? That is my baseline. Whether it fails or not. Did i get my value for the price. Survival games are for every $1 spent, can I get 10 hours of gameplay. I.e since I bought dayZ om xbox, can I get 400 hours out of it. Well, I'm halfway there and I play a few hours a day, maybe more on weekends. So with the game as is, I've halfway got my worth of the game. And there is loads of content coming. -
Well, if I have learned one thing as a Quality Assurance Testing Lead in my software development project, when I create bugs... which I create a lot of :).... Creating a clear, concise, informative and most importantly reproducable bug report is the key to getting a DevOps member to fix it. Getting them a cup of chai doesn't hurt your case if it is a top priority bug ;)

This is so awesome. I kind of imagine it like one of those trains in the old fashioned diners that just kind of toot toots all day and just circled the map and runs people and Zed over. Keep up the awesome work and I can't wait to hear about it. Congrats on getting featured on the DayZ Twitter btw https://twitter.com/DayZ/status/1044287782099841024?s=09

Bahahaha. I think it's a combination of connection and just unlucky. To be fair, DayZ isnt even that big of a GPU hog. I too play on the X, I've only ever seen a few popcorn buildings. Mostly everything renders. Even running along the train tracks past severno I can peak into the city no problem. Same with apartment complex down near electro. If you really look at games, DayZ isnt even as demanding as this proclamation of 1 frame per 10s. Surely that is an overexaggeration, because, 1 frame per 10s is like brickbreaker on the old Motorola brick phones with the green screens trying to play minecraft or something. 1 frame per 10s is the equivilant of someone with like an 100k ping trying to walk around. Your screen would literally freeze and not render anything. Frame drops do happen, especially when loading massive texture packs and residual items. Maybe the worst I've seen is like 25 fps for a split second. The game is optimized to run 30 fps at 4k and 60 fps on 1080p on the X (I believe, since that is most games. I dont know of many that are truly optimized for 60 fps @ 4k UHDR) But if you consider a game like ark, which on any console or pc is a serious GPU and RAM hog, this is a cake walk. Anyway, frame drops are an issue. I think all things have been said, however @ImpulZ has stated in a general FAQ on the xbox port that it will be an ongoing investigation/fix/monitor.

Since the last update it disabled the reset timer in game. That's item one. So you never know what period of the reset cycle you are in. Its calmed down the past few days but there have been many reports of random kicks. I'm chalking it up to a connection bug and will hopefully be addressed in this weeks patch. Have no fear, be patient. Devs will sort it out asap.
-
It isnt the most optimal solution, but if you wait 30min - 1 hr you will be unlocked. Someone has claimed that if you see the countdown message, if you force quit gsme and reload it will unlock you. Unable to verify though. Any time it happens to me I normally take my dog out, or watch an episode or 2 of futurama and I'm good.
-
No problem. Hopefully OP gets sorted. Cheers.

This too happens to me. It happens less frequently since last weeks updates, however this is how I personally manage it. When you open inventory screen on the body, the game must allow a few seconds to process of both of you have a full inventory. With that in mind, follow these steps. 1. Never loot immediately. Ensure you're safe and no one is rushing to the shots. 2. When you step on body and open inventory, do not press any buttons and simply let the game load the loot. 3. Normally it could load the inventory but when it hit the bottom it would freeze. So slowly navigate the loot. When I mean slowly. I mean it. Like go right pause. Right pause. Down pause. Down pause. Right pause. Right pause. Until you are at the bottom of screen. 4. If there are items you dont really need, drop them on the ground. Meaning in the players inventory not yours. Just hold Y and transfer to ground. If you can take some items into your inventory as well that will help. 5. Once you have cleared a few items, back out of the inventory menu. 6. Walk around, give it a few seconds and open inventory on body. 7. Repeat steps 3-6 until you find all items of it has a big inventory. 8. Finally, the one important fact I have noticed. When you immediately scroll down to backpack on the player, it only freezes if your cursor box is in the bottom left corner. So avoid that corner like the plague. If you can be 2 or 3 inventory slots over and then press down to enter the final inventory slots, then it will drastically help. I know this was a lot so hope it helped. My friend blows through the inventory like it never freezes, however I have had it freeze so the slower you move through the inventory the better.

Hmm. It updated for me. Strange. Yea I suggest reaching out to someone like @Dancing.Russian.Man or @Accolyte someone with a blue name. I'm not sure if there are xbox specific moderators, but they should be able to help if you send them a private message. Good luck

Exactly. If you would like to make a post, please include as much information as possible in the troubleshooting forum -
You can update that information here. https://accounts.bistudio.com/profile/user I use my steam account and somehow it picked up an email that I havent used in years, so I'm not sure how it detects this information. But you can edit your nickname there.

Please refrain from making threads in this forum and instead create these issues here https://forums.dayz.com/forum/157-troubleshooting/ Thank you

I love your posts @pilgrim* and I love your attitude haha. All we are saying OP is that, these random resets are tricky. Personally I was travelling with a "friend" I got an SVD. He killed me by shot on the back for it. Next day.... I didnt wanna play I was so devastated. Guess what? Character reset. *boom* drops mic. Karma bro! Character wipes arent all bad
-
Unfortunately as @pilgrim* knows. Sometimes these things needs to be spelled out, it may seem like it's a lot of information, but... many people post lackluster posts, comments, bugs and requests without research, so where most of us can, we provide you a full in depth answers, as it is not as always an binary as yes or no. Some people still do not understand the versioning. They believe. V0.63.___ is stable branch where v0.63.000 is, however our current build v0.63.148 technically is not. There are also members on PC who claim v0.62.000 is the stable branch and v0.63.0, xbox launch version is not... Anyway, enough on that. Just where we can fill in information we will try. Therefore, rules and guidance dictated by the experimental branch parent forums can be applied here.
-
Why is it a big deal? I work in software development so let's analyze something for a second. Bugs get reported. Issues arise. Developers patch. They perform unit test on said patch. They roll out the patch. Users report pass. Users report fail. What is the best way to ensure max numbers pass? Wipe all data and start fresh. It is part of a disclaimer on the game. Please use the forums and perform research. This information: As the nature of the Experimental branch is for the above mentioned testing methods, neither uptime, character data, nor stability is guaranteed. Persistence/Character wipes are to be expected! can be found here: and considering as how xbox versions are under the experimental branch, these guidelines can be applied here. Next time I suggest asking these questions before purchasing a beta release of a game. Roughly half of the people that own the game understand and accept these risks, or even bugs when buying. The other half expected a completed game and are frustrated. If you have ever owned a game preview or beta release, you will understand that development is not final until 1.0 launch, things can change at any time, character data and saves can be wiped at any moment. You are the client working in an environment that a developer uses daily. They can change stuff on the fly that you may not like but it may or may not be final. We play in developer semi-stable branches. We are not in a dev environment. Please remember there are 4 environments. Developer - where the iterative team resides Quality Assurance - where dev team QA and PC stress testers are User Acceptance Testing - where we are Production - general development and testing by all parties has been completed, also known as 1.0 launch. We are at version v0.63.184. The first patch on console also a stable branch was v0.63.000. The last known stable branch (based on a pc player report) is v0.62.000

Just bumping this thread for a second. I was watching an interesting article which was stating that the reason Rust failed, apart from most things was it became unplayable without mods. The devs relied so much on mods, that they left the game unfinished and broken, such that the mods were finishing the game. Yes nodding has always been a part of the BI gaming experience however... I would like them to make that perfect game, with all the QoL updates and then consider mods. You dont need mods for this, and also, much like fallout 4 or skyrim, they are pc mods ported to xbox as there is no mod creator for xbox.. Soo no, mods arent needed nor are they wanted at this time. Modding at this stage would mask the game and would eliminate transparency between vanilla and modded DayZ. Also, the game has been out 1 month on console. It's too soon for modding.

This isnt ark though, stones dont make fire here. Wood + rags = fireplace.
