Can you please put back in the fix for the controller issue - just that would be nice. My controller disconnected for some reason and then reconnected and I had not control and died.

How to survive the quick timers of hunger and thirst

By the time I've found a shovel lately, I've got plenty of food :) -
I think they could adjust by basing it on whether or not you were in proximity to other players and hostile with them. A simple formula such as player X swings weapon or shoots in proximity of player Y who does the same, then a timer countdown timer once a certain distance is reached - because a countdown alone doesn't make sense since someone could just keep running and then log out. This would avoid any issues with disconnecting, unless of course you got disconnected while fighting. There is for sure a delay though because my controller batteries died while I was moving, I kept moving once the controller died and ended up running into a fence and then a zombie attacked. I shut off hoping to save my guy, but it didn't work.

I've just been exploring. When I got back on after they brought servers back up today, I sadly lost everything I had in my inventory, even though I hadn't experienced that prior to them going down.. At any rate, I met someone who immediately turned and attacked me with a machete. I had my splitting axe in hand, so I killed him. Apparently I must have been bleeding out and didn't pay attention so as I was looting him, I died.. Now I know.. heal first, then loot :) Current character I've just been exploring. I decided I'd make my way towards a military base to check it out. I imagine I'll get killed, but that's ok, It really isn't so bad starting over. I also have tried some of the various things you can do. I've killed chickens and cooked them. Same with a goat. While there is a lot we can't do, there is a lot we can do so might as well experiment. Hopefully more people realize attacking someone on first sight doesn't really make the game fun. I'd much rather see what someone I meet needs and share. Once I get going, my inventory is always full.

Especially when you don't hear the gunshot when killed by a gun. I was right near someone, got one shot killed and never heard a thing.

you lose everything when you leave. NEED TO FIX NOW!

They really should post here as well - not everyone uses twitter. And now I see they did... -
I don't think a traditional mini map would make sense, but a static map that you can scroll that acts as a mini map would be nice. Basically take the place of the tablet/pc maps people are using now. Just have it integrated, although it wouldn't show you where you are - just would allow you to view on your TV rather then have another device. Like I said, PC play is different from console. When I play on my console, I want to play on my console, not use any other devices.

I agree as well. My first few experiences we're frustrating. Having a hard time finding food and water. Water is easier now using the online maps and food is better, although can be hard at first. Last character I had (before dying due to my controller battery dying and a zombie killing me!!) I had no issues with food. I had found a knife so I was killing chickens and cooking them with a fire..etc. I was also finding a lot more.

I've encountered people a few times now without them attacking. Just depends on the person.

Hopefully they just re-work the joining system to a typical matchmaking where you can join with a party..etc.

I didn't say ALL console players - could I have been more specific? Sure, I just didn't expect someone to get all upset over it. I think the majority probably would like to simply join a game. That was the biggest issue I found when I first tried to play - the you are in the queue and being 40+ or so in the queue. Other games that have a browser though have very different server options. At this time, there's really no need for it. Only reason is if you need to get back to a server you had stuff saved on or meet up with friends. But that could be accomplished how it is in many other games by joining a party and having your stuff move between servers..etc. There's plenty of other issues though such as font size and inventory that just aren't done very well for ease of play on a console. -
I think the key is to really stick to roads. I tried to traverse through woods/fields and some how got my direction all screwed up. Ended up back at a road and realized where I was, but it wasn't where I thought I was at all. Rather then having to use the compass manually, I think if you have a compass that it should be something that is just always equipped and shows on your hud. That would make it much easier. I found my first compass today, but just dumped it.. I have too much stuff and it isn't useful enough to keep.

that is odd.. very annoying too.. Didn't seem like there was anyone around to kill you, but hard to tell for sure.

No real emphasis on group/clan play
Maytrix001 replied to DynaHD103's topic in New Player Discussion
I think the issue is that there isn't a huge need to team up right now. Seems there just needs to be some development to increase the need to team up. Maybe as the game gets further along, that stuff will be added. I think some ways they could do it would be to have areas that have more zombies then a single person can handle themselves. And the loot could be worth it. Having played a decent amount now, I think there's a lot of great potential. Being able to secure an area, have a safehouse where you can store added gear..etc. Lots of ways to make coop more useful. In fact, as a test, they could simply create some servers that are PVP and some that are non-pvp for coop only. I think it would be really interesting to see how many played each time. I do think there needs to be better ways to find players to team up with as well - maybe if they fix the way you join and do it more like typical xbox matchmaking they could have players join together who want to play coop.. I think they'd have to prevent friendly fire though since some people would abuse it and use it just to prey on others.. -
Just went to play and it is unable to sync data. For starters, I'm not sure why there's anything to sync since I'm playing on the same console I last played on and I've only seen this message when switching consoles. But it won't come up. Anyone else getting this? I spent a couple hours playing last night and was getting pretty well equipped and would rather not start over again.

I think the only problem is them only being available on that particular server.

I tend to agree with the OP. There are a lot of little things that I think could have and should have been addressed prior to just porting over the the console - things that work on PC aren't so good for a console - such as the join a server screen - console players don't want to do that, they want to join and be added..etc. It is also high priced for a game in this state. I've played a couple games in preview and the others were much further along and didn't have such basic issues (unable to join a server, server kicking you..etc). Hopefully they address it quickly. I think a longer beta, perhaps open beta (I believe it was closed?) would have made a lot more sense to work out some issues. -
First, you have to find your position - then verify that it is where you think it is. I've done this many times and sometimes it took a few tries to confirm where I was located. Once I did, moving is pretty easy since you can follow roads to know where you are or if you cross open areas/woods go from one point to another. Finding stuff is hit or miss. I've often started in an area where it seems every building has been opened and looted. I simply try to find a new area in those cases.

So I've played a number of hours. Met a few different people. Never really know what to expect but most encounters we've just waved and gone our separate ways. One encounter I helped someone who needed food. Today however, after making some progress, having some food, a rifle, axe, shovel, larger backpack..etc.. I came across a guy. He was similarly equipped. We waved and did a few other actions and I was getting ready to just move on. All of a sudden I see him holding a gun and before I can react, I'm dead. No shot heard, no chance to fight back, just dead. Rather disappointing that the first time I actually make some progress and aren't just looking to not die of thirst or dehydration that I get instantly killed like this. Is this normal? He had a pistol. If this is normal, then I can only see this game becoming a shoot everyone you see type of game. Otherwise someone can pull a gun and kill you before you can react. Since things happen instantly in a game and you can't really judge what someone is doing like you could in real life, seems this may need some sort of adjustment. Unless the design is to just shoot everyone up? Unfortunately it will either make me stay away from anyone with an equipment or shoot on sight. Would be nice to at least see their name so if I run across them again, I'll know to shoot first :)

Yeah, perhaps an easy way for them to do it would be servers where settings are different. That way they can appeal to all types of players. Some people just like to say it isn't supposed to be easy..etc. And that is fine.. there can be servers where it is harder and some where it is easier. That way the game would be played by more and the devs can get more revenue from it.

Except, in a post apocalyptic survival you wouldn't be dropped into a foreign land. You'd be in a place you already knew. For a console, an in game map is really needed. I don't want to sit with my computer or tablet while playing on my xbox. On the PC, it is different. I've got 2 monitors, I can have the game on one, map on the other. I think one issue with this game is that it was created for PC and just ported to console and it seems not a lot of changes made to make it more console friendly. Hopefully this changes as I think it could be a great game, but needs some improvements to make it better on the console. I don't think it needs to be a map however that tells you where you are though - that would be for you to figure out still like you do now. But an in game map to view vs needing a tablet..etc would be an improvement.

And now I see there are xbox service issues.. guess I'll just wait it out..

I've found a chicken and killed it, but didn't have anything to skin it with. I've found wells and streams. Mushrooms, apples, pears.. never found one. I've walked through a large apple orchard too - nothing.. So how does one find those things? Apples should be abundant in an orchard.. yet zip for me.

My thoughts and ideas for improvement
Maytrix001 replied to Anyeurysm's topic in New Player Discussion
I've killed a chicken, no problem. Just hit it to death. I've still never found a knife. Maybe I could have done it with a hatchet? Which I've just found for the first time. And that seems to be the issue - just not enough loot to be found sometimes. -
I'm not sure why this keeps getting compared to PUBG - it is completely different. You win PUBG by killing everyone else. That isn't the case here since there really isn't any winning.
