    Reason for death

Agreed. You were killed by gamertag with weapon... would be nice.
  2. So, I'm on like my 6th spawn and understand the dynamics of the game much better now. However, i can see alot of the casual players being turned off after their initial experience, due mainly to the fact that this game offers very little in the way of tutorials or properly explaining the functions or mechanics of the core gameplay. I know it's a game preview, but people spent $40 (very high IMO) on this and if you want more or returning players, the initial impression makes all the difference. I starved to death or died of thirst on my first 4 spawns, with little to no knowledge of how to improve my condition....not fun Bohemia... Also inventory management being an absolute dumpster fire does not help matters. Server stability and connection issues also are a big turn off. Now for the good things... The frame rate feels very good and the landscape/country side is up there with some if the best I've seen. Rendering distance is also impressive. I like the zombies being not overwhelmingly tough to deal with by themselves, but in groups of 2-3+ they are vicious. As they should be... So, my suggestions would be. 1. Make a more in depth tutorial that properly explains hunger/thirst and how to remedy these issues. Maybe even go as far as to increase Apple spawn rates near the coast to give new players a better chance. 2. For the love of god please rework the inventory management. I don't have any real solutions here but some thing needs to be done. 3. Region lock the servers and server list. I live on the east coast of the US and in all honesty there is no reason I should even be able to see Russian or Netherlands servers at the top of my list let alone join them. I know you can sort them now, but it still needs more work. 4. An in game party/squad up function that would assist in identifying members of your party/squad. Something as simple as a small bright dot above the player and perhaps a different color or number for each dot. We don't need to see the gamertag, as that can be prohibitive to sightlines... 5. The poster board maps on the edge of town's need a "you are here" star or something. --------------------------------- That's about where I'm at right now with suggestions. Overall I like the game a lot but i can see new players turning away because of the above stated issues. Just my 2 cents... See you out there survivors!

    Burying loot!

I'm gonna work on food caches, I end up with more pig, sheep, wolf steak than I know what to do with.

    Broken/save your money

Make sure your choosing a server that best suits your region. There are servers for Netherlands, Russia, USA ... etc...

My thoughts and ideas for improvement

We're in the new player subsection of the Xbox section, are we not? I never SPECIFICALLY stated I was on Xbox, but did mention the game just launched on preview... the clues were there... I humbly accept your 83% forgiveness...

    Couple of Questions

Unsure about the bandage, but if I had to guess I would say no. The up arrows indicate the condition is improving. 1 slowly improving, 2 moderately improving, 3 quickly improving. The color of the icon is what I pay attention to. For example if your food icon is white, your good. Yellow means your hungry. Red literally means your starving. I try to eat when I'm yellow. When your moving the down arrows will appear, indicating you are basically burning calories. If your in a starvation situation and have no food, then obviously you have to find some, thus exponentially burning more calories in the process, quickening the onset of death. If your lucky enough to find some food, when you are in the red, eat it and try not to burn too many calories while the condition improves. Same goes for water... As far as navigating, I would recommend using https://dayz.ginfo.gg/ you have to basically do it the old fashioned way. Find road signs and start typing the Russian gibberish in to the map search engine and it will help narrow down where you are. Use tricks like, keeping the coast on one side in early game to help know where you are and where your headed... I think the sun is in a static place right now. West/southwest... Not sure about zombie spawns, but makes sense they would only spawn when someone is nearby. Open doors mean someone has been there, but there is still the potential for loot. Proceed with caution. Server hopping to loot is a strategy that some use and is basically an exploit. I understand that it could also lead to your character being locked in the database (unplayable) for upwards of an hour to prevent you from doing this. I think dropped loot will despawn after awhile, not sure how long...

My thoughts and ideas for improvement

Boom, i believe you hit the nail on the head. A simple "struggling to survive in chernarus? Visit forums.dayz.com for help" on the startup/loading screen is all that is needed. My experience so far is exactly what you described. Trial and error, finding out for myself, then coming here or other places for info. Just 2 days ago I didn't have a clue, now I'm by airfield stacked... But I know 2 people that gave up on the game already because of the early struggles. Are they impatient, or giving up too early? Sure, but there has to be a way to help mitigate that. My concern is that this is happening to quite a bit of people and it's a shame because they are missing out on a great experience. PS: your not even on Xbox are you? You just came here to berate us console plebs... ;p

    PVP

Was playing a 3 man squad with a guy I semi know and a random from LFG. Grinded for like 4-5 hours, then all of a sudden this LFG guy kills us both... Not mad, just disappointed...lol But, now with my 2 main squadmates we just left the airfield and things are looking good!

    Character locked in database

I'm in the same boat right now. This is the second time this has happened to me. From my understanding it usually will sort itself out in anywhere from 15 mins to an hour. If it still persists you may have to submit a trouble ticket to Bohemia...

My thoughts and ideas for improvement

Perhaps a poor choice of words on my part... But I have had multiple weapons where magazines become stuck in the weapon rendering said weapon unusable. No biggie when it's a pistol, but pretty frustrating when it's an m4... Quit server, relaunched and it was still stuck. Also I've tried to stack bullets as was suggested in another thread with no luck. Am I doing something wrong? Any suggestions?

I used an axe to open some spaghetti and it was only like 2/3 full... Did same with can opener and it was completely full.

My thoughts and ideas for improvement

I think your misinterpreting what I'm saying and there's no need for the condescending attitude. Your a veteran of the game, you understand all the lil nuances of the game and no doubt had to grind your way to get there. I can appreciate that. But let's not pretend that this game has not had a less than stellar track record of development. If i remember correctly, this game was super popular out of the gate for pc, then slowly died on the vine due to a bad core philosophy and development cycle. This game has huge potential. General speaking pc players (master race) are a more dedicated player base. Console gamers are more casual in nature. Now with that being said, I'm personally fine with a port. I love the idea of this game. But if we want to see this game grow, for both pc and console, things need to improve. The reviews on Xbox are at like a 2.6 right now, that's not a good way to grow the fan base. Hell, just look at the activity on this message board, the game just launched and there are barely any posts here. That tells me 2 possible things. A small player base or an unwillingness to look to a 3rd party for info. That unwillingness is directly related to the frustration of not knowing how to play the game, which in turn leads to bad reviews = less sales = less development = bad for us I'm here looking for/sharing info because I, like you, am willing to do so and want to see the game do well.

Trust me, I get it. Survival is hard, it's supposed to be. Most of the info you provided pertains to pc and either is not (or not yet) in the console version. What I am saying is that people who pick up the game for the first time, half or more are likely to be frustrated at the lack of knowledge available in game. And most will not want to go to a third party website to learn how to play the game. This will no doubt diminish the overall player base, which is bad for everyone. Being more intuitive is not the same thing as being easier.
  16. Ok, I know it's a preview but I can't help but feel like this is almost unplayable. My health meter was blinking red, food meter was red, water was white... Found a can of sardines and a Rasputin kvass... ate and drank them... 3 up arrows over food and water now... health meter never stopped blinking or improved at all, tried to bandage in case I was bleeding or something in a last ditch effort to save myself and nothing... Dead... Wtf! Am I not getting the dynamics of this game or is it that bugged as to where your consumables don't improve your health? Is it something that if your already blinking red, you can't be saved? I love the idea of this game and have been looking forward to it for a long time but seriously, is it that broken? Or am I doing something wrong? Is there a roadmap for updates or any news coming from the devs as to what they're working on? Sigh... Respawning...

    I must be missing something...

Omfg... Character locked in database. That's just perfect....

    Where do I start ??

Things are a hot mess right now... You can drink directly from lakes, ponds and streams right now and not get sick. You cannot drink from the Ocean. There are also water pumps in the town's, try to find one and drink until you got the 3 up arrows or your icon goes white... If you find clothing you want to wear you have to take off the old clothing first and then put the new stuff on.
