    CHEATER PLAYER DROPPING HAND GRANEDE

    The mechanic itself is not very "intuitive" but it does work perfectly fine. If you have customised and saved a custom character, you will spawn with that character every single time you respawn on a server that allows custom characters. However, you need to know that not all servers allow that - it is up to the server owner and some servers will force a random character even if you have saved a custom one.
  2. I don't think there has been any updates actually, depending on where you look the ragefest over zeds is still going on. It seems to me experience of harder or easier zeds is more a case of poor server performance affecting infected behavior more than in the past, making official servers particularly bad since they are multiple instances running on potato machines... On servers with good performance zeds work perfectly fine - or better than in 1.24.
  3. 1. Can't take hours or it would be a horrible game mechanic. If the duration is anything like Namalsk it is fine. 2. We have only seen little yet, but they've said survival will be harder the further you move from the coast. Also from what I've seen houses are few and far between. I have a feeling competition for those frozen cans of food will be fierce along the coast. 3. Again we haven't seen much yet, but they talk of new assets. I'm hoping for some new paintjobs for the old houses at least... 4. Why would they change the UI? It's still the same game. I don't want a heap of icons cluttering the screen, the less the better for immersion. About that - I still want the possibility to hide the entire UI (hold §) but still se action popups. Otherwise it is hard to play and especially perform some actions with hidden UI.

    A great list as always! A few comments: 3) Quick access: You should also never be able to put items on the hotbar that are in a backpack. 11) Melee blocking. Imo blocking a hit should consume stamina, if low on stamina you would either be unable to keep blocking, or it would start to let some damage (and cuts) through. About suggestion 54, I would want to complement that, weapon melee - with or without bayonets - really needs a light attack that can be used even if low on stamina. The situation when you are unable to attack due to weapon raised and low stamina is extremely frustrating, since you are completely helpless. Swapping to another (melee) weapon is likely going to take too much time and get you killed or knocked out. So: a light attack with lower damage and no knock back would be logical.

    So far 1.20 seems to have made them much more stable than they were in 1.19. I've been driving a lot tonight and I have had none of the lag jumps and sudden lurches that happened all the time last patch. Dunno what they've done, but it is a lot better.

    Zeds don't even kill you - if you get swarmed they'll knock you out and walk out. I have a mod making them knock down doors (you can slow them down by locking the door) and it is way more fun than otherwise. It's a stress factor connected to the zeds that is desperately needed - because as easy to cheese as they are now, they are very un-fun without the feature.

    If you need to ask that there is probably no answer that will make you care, but I will try anyway. The sky is part of the visual presentation of the game, and the current sky looks bad - really bad. And because of that it makes the game as a whole look dated, because the skybox is a low quality pixel mush that could be taken straight from some 1990:s shooter. Interestingly, during the entire alpha stage and initial release - until the 1.02 patch specifically - the game had great looking skies. Volumetric clouds interact with lighting in a way that two-dimensional textures (as are currently used) simply can't. With 2D clouds light diffusion is severely limited and there can be no shadows from the clouds - while volumetric clouds can obscure the sun and stars creating varied lighting conditions depending on the weather. In the current weather model all that happens is that the ambient lighting is slightly affected by the % of overcast, since there are no "real" clouds there can be no other interaction. In the 1.02 patch the simulweather sky was ripped out and replaced with the current flat textures. This was made because low-end systems (blame consoles...) had performance issues, and due to this the weather was often desynced creating situations where every player in a group would see different weather - while on the server it could be something else entirely. Examples are ghost rain - you get wet even though the sky is clear - or pouring rain that doesn't get you wet. At that stage in the game's post release development the team didn't have time or resources to deal with the issue, so they simply ripped the clouds out. The decision was understandable, but ultimately it made the game look worse.

    The launcher is having some problems at the moment. You might have noticed that it will display literally thousands of nearly identical Chinese servers, most with unlikely high player slots and spoofed population (they show as full or high pop in the launcher although they are empty). It seems like all the fake and/or badly configured data these servers are sending to the launcher simply clogs it down so it can't complete its scan. Hence lots of legit servers will not show up at all - including my own and several known and popular high population servers. The only solution for the moment is to direct connect - and get booted for not having the right mods - find the server in the "Recent" tab and put it as favorite. Scanning for favourites in turn works as normal. I believe the devs are very aware of this problem so hopefully there will be a fix soon. Am I correct @Kyiara?

    As clarification to the OP I can add to that simulweather was not only removed from the game, but the supporting code enabling it has been removed too. I was informed of this when I approached a modder to try and mod the proper clouds in. The current game engine simply does not support them, there are references and leftover comments here and there, but no there is no easy way to get them back. And it is a damn shame.

    Aye, it is a dead horse I return to beating once in a while. I know Adam has said it will not be done, and I am aware of the reasons the volumetric clouds were removed in 1.02 - and they were very valid at the time. However! The team really should take a close look at some of the mods modifying the skybox and lighting that have appeared, and take inspiration to make what improvements are possible. You even mentioned Lad's Lighting Overhaul in the Community Spotlight so it is obvious you are aware they exist - so there is really no valid reason for the vanilla game to still have such bland lighting and skybox. It can be vastly improved even without putting volumetric clouds back in, so why not do that? As for the proper volumetric clouds, I am confident a way to eventually implement them in some way can be found - at the very least you could explore a way to make it possible to add with mods. Because, to be perfectly honest, the Skybox in DayZ is extremely low quality as is, keeping it unchanged should not even be an alternative.
  12. And it should not protect you from neither animals nor zombies if it has no damn doors or windows! The PvZMod does this brilliantly, running zombies over will ruin the radiator, and zombies can gang up on a vehicle and smash it - and its occupants - to pieces.

    Confusing title, considering your suggestion, but yes - most would agree the game needs a bigger variety of mostly civilian but also military clothes. Apart from witch hoods and the recent improvised rag clothes, I don't think there's been anything added since 1.0 basically. I'd prefer a sizeable pack of various clothes before more guns, definitely.

    ENFUSION Engine Update for DayZ?

    That's what we think, but for BI it is different. Arma is their baby, DayZ is the obnoxious but successful side show that keeps the business running. Judging by how they have treated the dev team over the years - and the decision to force the very premature 1.0 release in 2018 - BI were fully prepared to let DayZ die quietly. The community and dev team have however made sure it didn't die - and now BI will happily let it have just enough support to keep going and finance Arma 4. That's my tinfoil hat comment of the day... As for DayZ in Enfusion, it will never happen with DayZ 1.X, but if and when BI decide to make a sequel we might see DayZ 2 in Enfusion some day. But I think we'll have Arma 4 and a DayZ mod for that long before that happens.

    That has never stopped a map from being available and being played extensively during development. However, there is allegedly some dodgy stuff with the guys who posted the map. Either the entire map was stolen or it uses assets they don't have license to use, in any case the publisher has cut communication so exactly why the map was pulled, nobody knows.

    Clothes stats.

    Deep in the game files, in the config of each clothes item, is an attribute called "visibilityModifier" which - I assume - modifies the base detection distance of a character by AI. Lots of other factors play in too, including stance, weather, lighting, movement and so on.

    It is used for the new dynamic train events. Some specific assets in those events have this value. It means you can set the value (=tiers) to individual buildings etc, just as usage flags.

    Just realised I had not commented on this batch of suggestions, so here goes: Yes please. This is something everyone would love. Oh yes, should be easy to implement and would be a major QoL improvement. Yes please. The slower falling flares could even be a separate type of flare. Typically emergency flares are pretty much as in game, while military flares fall much more slowly. The armbands are coming in 1.18, I'd love to see them possible to turn into courier bags/improvised backpacks too. The sawn off weapons do have their own weights defined in the config, but generally it does not decrease enough. Remains to be seen if this changes with 1.18 that also enables a few more cutoffs. Having them spawn randomly in the world would be a nice touch. Yes please. Yes please. This would be great! Yes please. I'd rather see the cuts having more varied gravity, with heavy wounds meaning blood draining twice as fast. You'd need some way of choosing what cut to bandage though, so this might be easier. Yes please. Ok. Not a bigge but would be nice. I would want a rifle with no buttstock attached to take up less space in inventory - and more with bayonet and/or large optics. Ok. Yes! Ok! Blaze and Magnum getting cutoff versions with 1.18, Repeater would be logical too. Yes! Must be an oversight that it doesn't work. I'd add the large knives and machetes too, and possibly the hatchet. Does change in 1.18 I think. Ok. Yes! Also some form of snapping or more forgiving proximity detection when placing posts next to each other. My OCD can't handle fences with slits between them. Ok. Yes! Oh yes please! Yes please. Oh yes please. If I can smash it open with a baseball bat, I can smash it open against a rock. Yes please. (Ideally a bag attachment that fits an entire suit of NBC clothes, as exists in some mods. Also in the future - the ability to wear NBC over regular clothes. Same with raincoat and the poncho in #1 btw.) Yes please. Yes please. Yes please! Yes please! Ok. Yes please! I don't agree about this one. They are different wounds, you'd need to finish patching up the first and move to the second irl, so a continuous action does not really make sense. Oh yes please! Oh yes please! Yes please. 1.18 adding lots of boom boom variants, not exactly this one but yeah. 🙂 Yes, why is this not a thing already. Was in the old days... Ok. Yes please. Yes please, these would be really cool. Cool idea! Yes! I think it was like this for a while in 0.63, but I might be remembering it wrong. Current indicator functionality is weird. Yes please. Cool idea. The 1.18 dynamic trains and config changes to events is opening the door to more things of this type. Ok. Ok. Ok. Ok. This would also have the side effect of allowing the hunting scope to have a visual damaged state like other optics. (The 2D overlay currently should have it either way...) Ok. Yay me! A possible continuation of this would be any form of tent or base structure in the vicinity of the removed tree blocking it from growing back on server start. This would allow players to clear a bit of ground to build in places where it is just not possible today, due to shrubs and trees. Yes please. Oh yes please. Yes please. Nice idea. An "NBC" kit accepting one of each type of NBC gear would be nice too. Yes please. There is code for electrified base defenses in place already. Don't know if it is anything currently being worked on, but it is definitely something that is or has been planned. OH YES PLEASE! The "SkyZ" mod shows the sky doesn't have to look like a bland grey mush even with the current 2D skybox. Might not be worth the time investment to make, but cool idea.

    Good for you! As necros go this one was a bit out of the ordinary, cudos for that.. As for the old topic, they did recently (2-4 updates back, I forget quickly) add Baty as a player character.

    Yeah, I suspect moving the current Enfusion physics over turned out to be waaay more complex than they first thought - since obviously it works differently. It is not surprising, and I believe most of us here can understand that - but it would be nice with a bit of communication.

    This in today's Reforger patchnotes: Fixed: Vehicles would be left in undefined state if their driver’s game session terminated unexpectedly (“the flying vehicle” issue) Took them two hotfixes... So, when will testing of the imported Enfusion physics to DayZ start? February 10th you said "in the coming weeks". No surprise that it has taken longer, and I don't mind waiting, but could we please get a bit of communication about the whys and hows of the delay? Pretty please with sugar on top? @Kyiara @ImpulZ

    Yeah. I had it activated for a while (functionality is already in the game, it is just deactivated) and even on my low pop servers with mostly friendly community, there were notes written with crap that was just too offensive. So I have a few numbtards on my banlist now - and the notes deactivated again...

    No it's a new bug since 1.17, you're not the only one. They did something with how you gain warmth in a vehicle and that somehow had this side effect...
  25. Your serverDZ.cfg is missing a line for steamQueryport, without that the launcher will not see the server and connections will fail. Add: steamQueryport = 27016; somewhere in the file.
