A pve mode but with purpose on official.

Yes, the only thing locked to the DLC is the map Livonia iself, bears will wander into Chernarus. Hopefully they will also use some of the new assets from Livonia to give parts of old Chernarus a facelift...

A pve mode but with purpose on official.

With 1.06 comes, among other things, a balance pass of the survival aspects of the game, there will be more infected, less food, more rain, more predators. This moves the game closer towards its original concept which wasn't so much run and gun as hardcore survival. Not everyone will like it, but it is as it should be. As for players not being able to hurt each other, that will never happen in the vanilla game, but there are already "PvE"-servers with strict no-KOS rules enforced by the owners. Hopefully server owners on console will be able to configure their servers a bit more in the future, while you'll never get modding as it works on PC I don't understand why server hosts cannot work with the server side configuration files. These are simple .xml-files, even I who don't know anything about coding have managed to tweak loot tables and flood my server with hordes of infected. This should be accessible to community servers on console too.

    DayZ Livonia PC Open Beta

This was possible in the legacy builds before the shift to 0.63, so I have been assuming it is simply a backlog feature they haven't had time to look at yet. It will probably be back at some point. Maybe @Greensek can confirm whether it is in the plans or has been scrapped for good?
  4. In theory yes, but it is possible you would then spawn on top of the tent in question. That has happened to me once, somebody had erected a tent in the room I had logged out in..
  5. Yep. Glass (vodka) bottles are actually in the files I believe, for a brief while they were even in types.xml so you could activate them on your server, but after 1.0 they were gone for some reason (along with the sword and some other stuff). I've seen them unlocked on some modded servers so they're still there. I'm hoping we'll be able to make molotov cocktails with them at some point. 😄

    1.06 Suggestions | 34 QoL Improvements

Yeah there is a wet sound when you get cut, but nothing after that. It is easy to miss in the heat of combat, often I only understand I'm bleeding when the screen gets all black & white..
  7. Aye I agree - but with the way your average survivor moves about there's not a chance in hell the water would stay in the pot for long. There are canteens and water bottles for holding water, and I very much doubt the thought behind the cooking pot containing water went beyond the purpose of actually boiling stuff in it, or as a means to move water temporarily (to water plants or fill radiators etc). That it works as an uber water container in your backpack is just a side effect. I would prefer the variant where the water would leak into your backpack (or any other part of your inventory holding it) drenching it and all items in it. I also liked the idea where water kept in a pot along with random items would cause the water to get contaminated.

    DayZ Livonia PC Open Beta

There is no official release date yet, you just have to wait some more..
  9. Derleth

Developers add this to the game.

Both things are available through mods already. Find servers that run them and knock yourself out 🙂
  10. You don't. The owner(s) of those tents logged out inside wanting to make sure the tents are still there when they get back. The only way to get in is to spawn inside - and the only way to get out is to pack the tent. If the owner(s) then buggered up and swapped server - thereby getting teleported away from the location - the tents will remain inaccessible until they despawn.

    DayZ Livonia PC Open Beta

Aye, but it was a bit weird in that no 1.06 features were actually implemented on those servers yet, that is fishing, new weapons and so on, so as far as testing goes it was not a "full" experimental. Anyway I am not really interested in arguing about semantics, I'll stand firm by my standpoint that 1.06 needs another thorough beating on experimental before it is pushed to stable, or there is a huge risk of serious issues slipping through. I'm as anxious as anybody to see 1.06 and Livonia go live, but I'd rather wait another few weeks for a launch without problems than see yet another launch plagued by more or less game breaking bugs, poor server performance, crashes etc.

    DayZ Livonia PC Open Beta

Yeah, I'm afraid you can be right that they'll push it without further testing on exp, but I hope you are wrong. Thing is, the track record of pushing builds to Stable untested is not particularly great. Last time the player hive was corrupted so people lost their characters and servers were crashing left and right. Internal testing is just not good enough when it comes to finding the issues that only surface at high traffic. Also, remember 1.06 has not been tested on Chernarus at all yet, and if e.g. the salvaging of car parts from wrecks is implemented there too, it means a large amount of map adjustments.

By the way - totally unrelated but still - would it be possible to implement an option to cut animal fat up into smaller parts, so the fat doesn't take up half the damn pot when cooking with it? I prefer frying to boiling but the size of the fat makes it impractical. For example it could be cut into three 1x2 parts.

    DayZ Livonia PC Open Beta

There has been no official announcement of release date yet. 13th was an accidental leak by Xbox iirc, and I'd say 1.06 needs some more testing on experimental before release. Of course it is possible they thought the Livonia beta build was "good enough" and push it this upcoming week, we'll see soon enough. 13th feels unrealistic though since that's Wednesday and 1.06 in itself is not even on experimental yet.

    DayZ Livonia PC Open Beta

I actually think the "empty" lands in the south is one of the best things with the map. One thing that gets to me with Chernarus is that practically wherever you are on the map, jogging five minutes in any direction will take you to a town or a road. There is no wilderness, Livonia's south feels very wild by comparison. It also means you really need to be prepared before setting off there or you will be in trouble. I think this will mean both pvp-focused and survivalist players can thrive on the map without seeing much of each other. The north was rough for newspawns though...

    DayZ Livonia PC Open Beta

Was it fun? Hell yeah! I had loads of fun struggling to survive the initial confusion at spawn, which meant a more and less non-stop battle against the elements and other survivors as well as, in larger towns, unusually large densities of infected. Then, once I managed to fight off my murderous peers long enough to find some basic gear and move south, exploring the ruined towns, military sites and vast forests was very enjoyable. The map is beautiful. Any issues? I'd say you need to implement more water-resistant clothing as soon as possible if the weather is going to be this harsh. Especially if the way hypothermia works is kept as is. In earlier posts in this thread you'll find several suggestions on how to make the system a bit more enjoyable to play. Basically slow down the onset of hypothermia so you don't start losing health immediately upon getting wet, but also make getting dry harder than just finding a roof over your head. The current rate at which your clothes dry just by staying indoors is way too fast. Getting indoors should halt the onset of hypothermia if you wring out your clothes, but getting your clothes dry needs to require a fire or much more time. Other issues: The clouds still look like garbage at night, they are too bright even when there is no moon, they look like oil slicks. The colours are all wrong. The black inventory bug, it was well documented I think. Swapping mags with "R" can still cause desynced mags with the weapon firing ghost bullets as a consequence. If this issue is not tracked down before 1.06 goes live I'd suggest you disable the feature for the time being. We were fine without it until 1.05. Server performance was not very good. It became progressively worse over time, in the end one night the infected were frozen in place and couldn't give chase when I was running around aggroing them. I could kill them one by one without the ones nearby getting to me. The green military watch towers had no loot in them at all. That felt a little dull, like they are pointless props. On one of the ruined buildings you climb a ladder to get to the attic floor - but the ladder cannot be accessed from that floor. Thankfully the roof was gone so it was possible to jump down... Melee weapons getting damaged is a welcome change. Maybe some of them wear a bit too fast though, I'd say the sturdier weapons like combat knives and axes should be a bit more durable. I never tested, but do firearms get damaged by being used for melee too? ...that brings me to another issue. Firearm melee should come with a light attack (that does not cause knockback) that can still be used when stamina is depleted. Standing there like an idiot with zeds ripping me to shreds is no fun at all. Swapping to proper melee seems to be interrupted when getting hit so often you remain helpless until unconscious. Tents do not provide shelter from rain. Overall Feedback I'm loving the turn for a more harsh survival experience, struggling to find water and food makes all choices matter and I really hope you do not cave in to the complaints and make this any easier. Fishing was very enjoyable, I never knew how much I had missed that. The layout of the map with most towns in the northern part and mostly wilderness in the south opens up for varied gameplay. Intense player interactions in the north, survivalism and military raiding in the south. Can't wait to build myself a little base in the middle of nowhere. The map terrain itself probably needs a little tweaking here and there, I cut down a tree in one town to make a fire and the tree fell into the house next to it, making the door impossible to interact with. I had dropped some gear on the floor inside so it was a bit annoying.. Also, there was this experience I had on the first night of open beta: Other than that, Livonia makes me long for leather crafting and improvised bows to come back. Playing a hermit staying away from the busy pewpew in the north will be even more fun with them...

Baby AK 100% broken, clip to follow

It is not the baby AK. Using "R" to swap magazines on any weapon with detachable magazines is known to cause desynced mags, you will know this has happened when you cannot fill an empty mag with new rounds. The server thinks the empty mag is still in the weapon while your computer rightly thinks it is in your pockets, with a full mag in your weapon. So you can't refill the mag and when you shoot the weapon goes "bang bang" but fires nothing but air. And then your target, who has of course not used R to reload recently, turns around and pops your frustrated self swearing back to the coast. It is a nasty bug that has been around since experimental 1.05 and devs are having problems tracking down the cause. Safest thing is to simply not use the quick reload - use the hotbar or inventory drag and drop instead. Since I stopped using R I have not run into this bug once. And - when and if this happens to you - find the ticket on it on the feedback tracker and provide recordings, logs and server details to help figure this one out. In the meantime, imho, they should simply disable the option. Edit: Oops, saw this was an Xbox post. I guess you guys are fudged until this is fixed... You've always had a button for quick reload, right?

Thank you for the clarification! If the servers are still up when I get back from work I most surely will get in there again. Still have not gotten myself mauled by a bear...

    DayZ Livonia PC Open Beta

Thank you @Greensek So, with the three servers moved from Livonia to Chernarus yesterday, does that mean the platform update itself of 1.06 is now officially on experimental? Or was that a sneaky preview? If the former, an official 1.06 post on the experimental subforum would attract more players to those servers for testing. From yesterday's tweet:

Yeah I found a few on those roads too last night. Of course by this time I had found myself three proper knives already, but at least I know they're there! 😄

In Livonia? Must be I was being extremely unlucky - or him extremely lucky. That means they're out there at least, that you won't find what you need when you need it is typically DayZ after all...

    DayZ Livonia PC Open Beta

In Livonia I have not seen a single small rock on neither hiking trails or train tracks. Either they have reduced the spawn rate by a large percentage or the spawn is bugged somehow, I made a concentrated effort to find one on one of my spawns last night and had to give up since I was about to die from dehydration. No water on the trails or tracks either 😛

What are you talking about? They have never said any such thing. What they have said is that no features announced during EA will be hidden behind a paywall. For example the only thing exclusive to the Livonia DLC will be the map itself, all features and resources are part of the base DayZ package. The bears will wander into Chernarus. Same will go for helicopters and any other thing you've previously seen in dev roadmaps, trello etc. At no point have they said DLC:s expanding on this will be free of charge. Besides, you need to remember BI is a company doing business and DayZ has no monthly subscription, lootboxes or other cosmetic micro-transaction bullcrap. Development and maintaining hundreds of public servers costs money, they need income to cover this. Reserves from the EA craze won't cover that forever. I'm happy to pay 10-20€ (which is less than the average person spends on junk food and soda in a week...) for a great DLC, that it helps the game as a whole move forward is just a bonus.

@Greensek A few comments to the above bullet points: 1. Pretty sure the prison building still disappears at distance. I could see it wink in and out of existence several times. 2. Chance of infected dropping food is still too high, it was easy to survive solely by killing infected. 3. Lighting in Livonia looks awesome - but cloud textures at night still look like oil slicks. The colours are wrong, it looks really bad. 4. Very good with the stone oven persistence! Is the timer reset when players interact with the fireplace? 5. Why remove rags from the teddybears, give them a chance for more variation instead! Some general feedback: Server performance has taken a major turn for the worse, when the servers were full players were teleporting left and right, doors had a one second delay before opening after tapping F and in the end the infected were frozen in place and could barely move. I could run around aggroing them all and all they could do was stand there and scream, they couldn't give chase so it was perfectly safe to kill them off one by one and loot enough peaches and spaghetti to get fat. It became progressively worse over time after server restart, so maybe there's a memory leak and some Livonia-specific geometry issues that hogs the servers? Melee weapon wear was long overdue, but it seems slightly too harsh at the moment. If wear is going to be this quick the repair items (sharpening stone/duct tape) need to be more common. In 7-8 hours spent in Livonia I have found one roll of duct tape and zero sharpening stones. I will not agree with the general crying about hydration and hunger. Survival actually being a factor again is very refreshing, PLEASE don't cave in to the complaints about this! Many players have grown too accustomed to trivial survival mechanics, let them adjust to the game being what it is supposed to be, and not the other way around. I started playing in 0.62 and yeah I died a lot in the beginning, to hunger, thirst, cholera, cold and infected. But I learned to survive - and so can anyone else new to the game at this point. DayZ is supposed to be hardcore, now that it is finally getting there again - keep it that way! However, since chlorine tablets seem more rare than duct tape, I would suggest to quickly enable boiling water to sterilise it. The wetness and cold mechanic needs some serious looking into. You lose health far to quickly when you get wet - but then you'll get dry and and warm again far too quickly too. Others have suggested above to make the onset of hypothermia a gradual thing, to allow some movement in the rain. Then getting dry again should at least require a fire - I would say the current rate of clothes drying would be fine if you have a fire, but without one it should be much, much slower. Getting indoors should slow down the cooling down - halting it completely if you wring out your clothes - but to get dry should take at least ten times as much time without fire, or there simply is no reason to make one. I love that car parts now spawn on car wrecks, a very sensible change. It is a bit annoying though that you can't interact with the doors that aren't "spawned". I suppose it is to save performance, but it feels like a step backwards since you've been able too open every door on most wrecks for so long. The map itself is a masterpiece, I have loved every second spent in Livonia so far, even though some murderous fool shot me in the back of the head when I was about to try fishing. I'll move further into the boonies before I try again...
