For those complaining about the development time of DayZ
Mantasisg replied to Guy Smiley's topic in General Discussion
It is a mess anyway. But lets hold back all the negativity, if things are going to get smoother, and the game will finally be getting delivered within and after 0.63update with iterations rolling out frequently, with nasty content, and constantly improving gameplay, with good effective game designs being realised, then everyone will shut up naturally. If. -
Only seven days left till @Dancing.Russian.Man birthday, we all know what it means right ? :D
-
There were countless updates for grass color matching, so I don't think it will be rolled back, and I see no problem with it, except that it stops being rendered a few meters away, and it is pointless to use as a coverage.

You got me in the corner right there, I'm defeated.

I know that he meant that. Though could be that "axle gear" thing, haven't heard about such thing ever before. But I don't think that it wins anything, apart from increased ride height. By the way, V3S-M2 could hit 75km/h. Yeah he was right, it also functions as gears. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Portal_axle Though it is written that power is same, so it shouldn't affect top speed. SO even without them V3S M1 would probably still hit only 60km/h. Which is a lot for narrow forest roads, with a 3ton vehicle :D

Yes, I hope so too. I'm pretty sure that such basic data is easily available. Most likely "vehicules" are just put aside for when the game engine part dedicated for them is ready, when it is ready I suppose. I guess. @emuthreat I don't think that it is the reason why top speed is so low of that car. I think that the reasons are two: first of all - those old cars weren't very fast in general, and second - car is probably designed in such way that it would have lots of torque on low revs, so that way it can perform very well off the road. Yes, I can see that axles are offset, as you pointed out now, interesting. But those aren't gearboxes, but differentials. And the reason for offsets, I'm pretty sure, is larger ground clearance, it is shown in first video, that it is 400mm.
-
If you'd check the first video which I have posted it shows how steep can the V3S go with different loads and configurations. Check the 2nd video from 6:00 mark....

I guess that was critical, if thats all you can say.

Why not just not spawn at all ?
-
@SeizLex No, not you. I know that you are fan of challenges. And it fits that you would enjoy having to deal with things such as rain. I was more about the majority of DayZ players. Ask anybody who are playing DayZ if they like hardcore survival, they will probably say yes, and then will use "log-off help" half an hour later. To me personally playing DayZ and avoiding the very essential thing of this game - beating death, is like double standard for real. Launching this game is automatic agreement to be thrown into life threatening situations, but so much are so easily avoidable. This is so essential.
-
Yeah, but even on gravel road, with a very tiny incline it feels like driving through the swamp...
-
Double standards, or just stupidity, perhaps both. But hey it is smart to log-off, or switch server - you win, you survive, avoid so much trouble.
-
When there were only V3S in early 0.5x, it was not much worse IIRIC, maybe even slightly better. Whatever the vehicles, the game overall is so not a game... It is like devs where giving us hints not to play the game at all, till it is ready. And it is known that the game "will be ready, when it is ready" :D
-
Yes, I think it might be combination of bugs and just bad physics of the vehicle. You really can not get it going till you reach the momentum. I remember, maybe a year ago, maybe less, found some friends next to berezino they had a sedan, The Volga, by the side of the road, and we couldn't get it out of the grass.
-
Sadly - it appears that most players prefers, to log-off whenever they are facing real threat, and rain can be a real threat. I really hope for the effective solutions from devs. Because people suck when there are no laws.

I just have had luck to find a V3S a week ago, at devils castle. Noticed tons of "bad stuff" immediately. 1. Got stuck in the way out of devils castle. And then couldn't jump out. Had to relog. Relogged right by the side of thew car. It was stuck because wheels had to be fixed. Fixed them and got out. 2. For some reason the car was stuttering heavily, I suppose network stuff. IIRIC fps were ok. 3. Same problem as yours. The car was performing really badly. Physics are so bad, that even torque charracteristics are messed up. 1st, 2nd and third gears works like you would be pushing other V3S with brakes applied. However on 4th gear it is starting to slowly pick up the momentum, I have reached good speed. Then. But while trying to climb the hill on gravel road I have to suffer a snail pace on 3rd gear, because 4th didn't provide enough torque IIRIC. It was quite bad overall. 4. Drove to Pustochka, and found another V3S, decided to go through it, and found out that collision system is also BS. Feels more like hitting a tank, than other V3S. 5. Ditched the car later. And found exactly nothing at Tent City, which is more like "tent village" now.

I ran into this today, I don't know if this guy is trolling, but I hope he does. First of all, I wonder if by any chance the rain is taken out of the game again ? IMO it is truly sad that in a survival game servers gets empty as it starts raining. On one hand it is logical - it is more difficult to survive, on the other hand it is the point of this game - a struggle to survive. When it is possible just to simply switch server whenever it gets difficult to survive - it is broken. It shouldn't be so, you should face whatever happens, would it be night, heavy rain, very cold weather, being surrounded by wolves or bandits, or all combined. Now the game is so many years in the development, and such an essential thing was never talked or looked at. Now you can ghost servers whenever it is comfortable. What do you think about that, realism warriors ? I understand that ghosting is useful when the server performance is turning into sh**, and you just can have continuous gameplay in different servers, or you just don't have to memorize specific server, because in DayZ it is quite difficult to keep track on exact server, there is a way though, but anyway.... But the fact that server is most likely will get empty as it gets dark or starts raining is sad, it tells a lot about the playerbase - noobs, non-creative, and looking for most comfort they can get in the SURVIVAL game. And I agree with this guy at this point - it is annoying that servers gets empty. It is annoying that all servers are using fine clear bright weather almost all of the time. It is annoying that bastards are exploiting ghosting possibilities, or logging off as it gets tough. What could be designed ? I don't know, I am not a game designer. But could a player stay live in a server for a minute for example, or for a half minute at least, so we would be forced to log-off only when we are in safety. Could it be unified weather in all public servers, or maybe even in all servers in total ? So players would have to deal with the severe weather conditions at some times, rather than just being able to simply switch to paradise weather. Also public servers should be working like servers in PUBG IMO, there should be a minimum for population, lets say - 30. Because it is easy to get looted in empty server and then ghost in somewhere. Players exploit the game like this and like that - everyone is loosing because of that.

WTH I just did read

Everyone has his/her personal issues with the game. My main issues are simple and connected- no interactions at the coast and bad loot economy. For some reason I'm afraid that these will stay. Those are the reasons which IMO ruins DayZ, despite the tech is much better. 1.No interactions at the coast - I have learned that at the inlands interactions with strangers is a bad idea. I have had a few of them which didn't happen to be KOS thing, however, it took about 1-3 minutes and I was killed, for me it is not that much different from KOS, just with a short dialogue. If you meet any stranger at the inlands both of you are probably armed, probably have something good in the backpack, the tension grows rapidly if you stay close just for a bit more than a few seconds (if you have been lucky enough not to get killed on sight, in the first place). No interactions at the coast - no interactions at all. And thats why it is so: greater density of players if they stay a bit longer at the coast, less tension because the spawn is less valuable at the time, other fresh spawns are simply less dangerous, bandits or zombies threatening freshspawns are working as a unifying force. 2.Bad loot economy - used to be pretty good in one patch, not the one when you could get massively armed at the gate houses and police stations, but before that. I like DayZ much more when it wasn't as much about running all the time for sake of looting, and looting was something like an important part of the game, but not the most of it. Stable servers with persistence on are just not worth even loging on - you won't find anything. Some private servers are better, but still way too hard to get stuff. Coasts are just empty - don't even waste time. Here our best interaction areas goes out through the window. I don't know about food, it is too rare too, but perhaps not as much as guns and ammo. Guns and ammo aren't that crazy rare, but because you have to find fitting bullets (of which there are many types) the difficulty gets squared, and because you also would enjoy to have a correct magazine the difficulty goes cubed. There is a limited amount of empty houses, and time without interactions before you start wondering what the hell I'm doing with my life now.

He asks me if I have ReAL WoRLd SuRVIval knowledge. Not really. But I have at least some logic. Also tells me "not to tell him how to survive". But teaches others. Being a teacher is quite responsible IMO. It starts rain. You have to move real fast, make a shelter, make a fire. What if you have no matches. What if at that location it had been raining before and the wood is wet and it is harder to light the fire. What if temps are close to zero. What if the wind is strong and cold. What if it is a storm with lightnings. What if you have to stay hidden from somebody. What if you don't have the items which you should have at the moment... Oh it is not rational to get into such situation. It also sucks. Better log off, and pretend that such thing never happened :D 1minute YT search https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=58TAnlJOSUw

I remember watching Survivor Games, it was quite entertaining in DayZ. This is one of the reasons why people are waiting for the mods,

Today is the day, Friday 13, what could possibly go wrong ? :D Perfect day to be consumed by zombies lol

Seeing that this has generated almost 150k views, we can assume that quite a lot of people are still keeping an eye on this dream. Unless thats comes from fanboys refreshing the video 24/7. Many other youtubers also has relative high number of views in their latest content, IMO 20K views is very much when avg players count is ~2k.

I just understand that it is taking a while. Hoew much left till halloweeen, can we hope anything for halloween ?
