Clickbait lol But I agree, it is possibly the best map ever. But is it playable,in other words - is it the best in terms how it merges with gameplay ? I really don't think so. Mostly because its size. It is definitely too large for a game where vehicles are really really rare, or/and doesn't work well. Too large for a game which fits way less than hundred players. Too large because devs wants you to really use it all, by nearly disabling loot in the coasts. Too large to get a proper interactions happening frequently, which is why I got interested in DayZ - thats gone. I also want to point out that I really loved the old Novo :) It was the best place. Also trees LOD'ing has to be fixed. Also doesn't feel like vertical aka 3D grass works as a cover, ever. Probably will be superb in 0.9 iteration.

Wat ? I bet you haven't really mastered any. Real fun begins when you really start to rock... Now we know what is the typical picture of current DayZ fan. A person who is enjoying finding ways around broken things. Thats probably the whole concept of survival. Don't get depressed simulator. Those quoting skills though. I know a good solution - don't use broken stuff, especially if you can't fix it. You are just player, you aren't looking for solutions. You aren't the dev. You are not the Dev, you aren't Henry Ford, you aren't developing, you are the user. Only thing you can do is to modify your personal item. Would you do it ? Could you do it ? Probably not. Don't be ridiculous. The solution is - not to use unprepared software. Which obviously is so. There has been nothing focused for better gameplay for more than a year, perhaps for two years now. -

I'm choosing 0.9. Unless you are saying that 63 will be last iteration, and there won't be 0.9. 0.63, nor 0.73, nor 0.83 doesn't sound interesting anymore. Doesn't matter if each iteration will be waited for months or for weeks. I suppose ~0.9 will be the approximate time when it will be worth to aim to use this product. We'll see if it will be real DayZ again then, or if it will be run and loot simulator like recent builds. Doesn't matter to much how it will be in between. Problem solved. If the game will reborn, people will talk about it. It will be easy not to miss that time. -

I think it will be better to wait till DayZ 0.9. There is no use, to keep the expectations on. -
Looks like you are ready to become a bush for a lot of hours to come.

DAYZ Status from a famous Youtube blogger

I was more about the very way how the game played. Content matters little. There could be five types of weapon, two types of vehicle and the game still could be incredible. Because, at least for me, DayZ was all about interacting with people. Even though the game has ridiculously huge map, for very little amount of players, it used to be very nice closer to the coast, and around NWAF anyway. Later everyone was spread out. Literaly only this was needed to ruin the game. I loved to talk, I could have been totaly destroyed in PVP with my 20fps, but I enjoyed the unique experience each time. Then interactions were "turned off", KOS values got turned up to 11. The game became unbalanced. Started to feel like waste of time, it was already great amount of just runing already. But it just got worse later. For me the reason to push people out of the coast "so they will explore more of the map" was stupid. I remember watching generals sam video where he bashed DayZ very early on, IMO he was really wrong then, but slowly becoming right. He was really wrong when he said that people becomes bored of the game when they explore the map, and nothing new is left. He was and is totaly wrong about that. DayZ used to be all new, and unique all the time as interactions happened, didn't matter if it is Novo and Novo again, or Berezino non stop. Content, places..... meh. People. Other players, not knowing what will happen - it was interesting. -

I will never understand why the gameplay side was so much down developed, especially for such long span of time. I don't even consider 0.62 as game update. How do you even manage to make game less enjoyable while improving the technical side so much. Maybe both sides are connected, and poor gameplay was the price for good performance. Who knows... Or maybe money. There was incredibly community. Was. You better really unleash the 0.63, otherwise it is the last nail. And to be honest, I won't be surprised if it will be the last nail of disappointment. Expectations are very low now. -
I was just asking this myself for a while. I have never had any rage on DayZ devs for not bringing me enough toys, or good enough toys. Negativity goes over the rooftop now. I think it was seen that it was coming since 0.61. The 0.60 brought huge hope for me, but it went downhill so quickly... Just because gameplay. Is Bohemia honest about DayZ ? I mean not the actual DayZ Devs, but the whole company. Is Bohemia honest with us the players, who are just simply too tired of waiting. And me personaly, I actually felt huge regress of the gameplay. As most of others. Does the troops of Bohemia help the actual DayZ devs if they get into bigger trouble ? Does they back them up ? Does they help them to meet the deadlines ? Or they just lets them share the house for a part of income, and most important - the credit ? How much sympathetic the BI is for DayZ devs ? I wonder if there could be any plans for DayZ Devs to leave Bohemia somehow, and go on on their own ? I mean there are less and less legacy from the ARMA. And it doesn't feel like DayZ is being supported greatly, feels like half welcome guest from my perspective as DayZ follower. Or it isn't so ?

I have made a little search and haven't found similar thread, I think we all have some crazy experiences in DayZ. I always told my friends that DayZ is best and worst game of them all, because nothing is happening for quite a lot of time, but if something is going on.... oh man ! Maybe we could share some nicest/craziest, most intersting or just best memories from our DayZ experience ? Maybe some even has videos ? Lets try to keep things compact, don't go for walls of text, or too much stuff. Also lets not derail the thread, and lets keep it positive. I'll begin Best Once just launched the game to show it for friend who wasn't buying this whole thing. Haven't expected anything major just to show the basic things, perhaps talk to someone, perhaps get attacked by banditos... So spawned in electro, ran around a bit, and when I went to a green house building which is a bit more separated one on the hill, I noticed a few players chasing each other. Few moments later a few more, then more, and then some more lol In total there were about 12-15 players fighting. A few had guns, maybe Makarov. I was hiding around while following them, and no one spotted me, even when I got very near. later they all endedup at the yard of the green house from which I spotted them. I was hiding behind the house while they were dropping unconscious one by one. At the end one guy with Makarov stayed. And when he started bandaging himself, I just came knocked him uncoscious and tooks his stuff. Not much, but enough to protect myself. A few moments later a girl came from somewhere, started punching me, and yelling at me that I killed all those players. I was trying to explain her the truth, unsuccessfuly ofcourse :D Then few armed guys appeared whom I had to convince that I did not kill them (aka her friends). I don't remember what happened next but the girl just ran to Novo later, and armed guys back in Electro. I decided to follow the girl. A little bit later I have spotted those armed guys following me, or us... Waited for the best moment and turned right into the mountain with lots of rocks, I think girl did too. I picked a position. And waited for a minute or two, till I spotted one of the guys rather close hiding behind something. I think I injured him quite seriously. And then other one started looking for me, I still had few bullets just for him. But I must have accidentally pressed alt twice and I couldn't control the movement. I still tried my best, it even turned into half serious fight, but eventually I was defeated. At first I thought that it was a bug, only quite some time later discovered that it was caused by double tap of alt. I wish it had lasted longer. Worst Funny situation - I decided to go for high end loot once. Things has gone quite serious with SVD and VSS with tons of ammo. I was trying to figure out what to do then lol Seemed like I was the only person playing dayz for next maybe 3-4 times I have played. I was very cautious, and scanning surroundings like crazy. And couldn't hook up a fight. At the end totaly desperate, annoyed and frustrated gone where sometimes players hiding in coast. Surprisingly I still couldn't see anyone, or hold them in my view. At the end I was just knocked down by someone with (probably) sporter, totaly out of nowhere, and as i was just starting to leave the coast. That was absolutely worst experience of DayZ in 500 Hours of play. That one particular chrracter was a tragedy to me, although i have collected insane gear, i didn't have had any fun at all.

Your Best and Worst Memories from DAYZ SA
Mantasisg replied to Mantasisg's topic in General Discussion
Now I could relate to your worst exp. I have had lots of similar fails when i tried to be a bandit haha I probably had even more pathetic one, when a gearless guy managed to one hit knock me out, took all my stuff, and made me his slave lol Now that was pathetic haha But it was all fun. He actually waited ~35mins till i regained consciousness, I decided to do a wokout in my room in the meantime. What a wonderful game haha Later with the same charrecter spent ~40mins uncoscious almost in the middle of airfield. Fun times. -
Gotta keep in mind that it has lots of legacy from ARMA. It probably will always have. Is it a bad thing ? Maybe yes, maybe no. It is a bit intimate topic. Almost like personal stuff of a person, if DayZ was a celebrity, you know. Really jus speculating. Hoping that the very people who are in BI for DayZ SA, aren't kept for granted, and aren't in some kind of shade or anything like that... It could be that rplacing legacy code to new engine code is an endless work with very tiny bits and lots of error aka bugs. It has turned out a bit insane TBH.

I agree that it is not nice. It really isn't. In fact it is heavily negative. I just don't want to demotivate the devs, I very much believe that they do what they can. And the only yhing which makes me sad is actual gameplay form since ~0.60. But bringing one iteration a year, also which doesn't really improve the gameplay time, honestly for what I am looking for there were nothing served for a whole year. Beta not comming this year is not a surprise, it won't be a surprise if beta won't come till christmas of 2018... I think it is just wrong that the game came out to EA with one road map, and then immediatelly switched to another one. It is like if they sold us unfinished DayZ 1.0. And now are working on DayZ 2.0. Everyone bought DayZ 1.0, but will be playing DayZ 2.0. It would be nice... but the wait is just out of boundaries. People aren't gamers for whole life usually, a lot will be forever disappointed, because they won't be into gaming anymore when they will get what they wanted. I probably had abot 50h blast gameplay in ~500hours of play, about 100h (approx.) was nice. And more than half of playing this was grinding, runing and looting. it never changed, just was going worse. So whats up about the management behind this ? Will I have to put my steak into microwave, will it be in the date ? I'm keeping it in a freezer, I hope it will. And thats exactly how I understand the game now - in a freezer.

I may be wrong, but all I know that whole thing gone wrong, and very badly. I started playing 0.54. Some says its the time when game started turning less fun. Perhaps... there were better and worse... patches between 0.54 to 0.60. But to me it felt that soon after 0.60 game just turned into "pls forget me" stage. Even 0.54 to 0.60 development seemed mega slow. And it was understanadable, because moving to new engine was announced, but it looks like the engine is way bigger piece than some of us could have guessed, and god knows when it will be finished, because the development is just slower and slower. Really people who understand coding should talk. Isn't it just the matter of how many people can understand it and then they can work on different pieces of it, no ? At the end of the day the way game plays is sad, not the fact that it is unfinished. As earlier iterations offered way better experience to many players.

I wish my ACC would go into graveyard as well. Coming in because of inertia. I just don't believe that there is a love between DayZ and Bohemia. Nevermind that its the studio. There are plenty of people in the studio. They must't be one solid unit, though maybe they should.

Mantasisg replied to -MadTommy's topic in General Discussion
Will be looking forward to more positive times then, or just try to learn not to care. Many others are very good at that. There isn't much to say, game is in stagnation as well as everything else. Posting is really turning into a bad habit. Not much interesting discussions are going on, too much negativity, lack of support, everything is difficult and noisy - thats pretty much internet in 2017 summarized. -

I just wish that the game got so crazy boring after 0.6 just in order not to spoil us, and it was nice - come back later. I really hate to think that it is original vision of the gameplay. It is bad. I also hope that Bohemia is actually wroking on this game too, and it isn't a small no name indie developers group which is doing all the work under the wing of Bohemia, and Bohemia WILL take the credit. Take the credit for crazy slow development and very doubtful future of this game, Bohemia. You can also ban me, because I can't find a way to delete my forum acc :D -
Do vehicles even exist in game anymore?
Mantasisg replied to radar1029's topic in General Discussion
DayZ in EarlyAccess is damn good at this - making people confused. I also was a bit frustrated not being able to find a vehicle, or at least drivable one for a long time.... But once ran into three V3S trucks in a very short period of time lol But didn't find nor loot, nor interactions, nor any action... so just logged off. Till 63. -
I think that it is different now, as far as I understand DayZ started from the core community. And the core community are always the best people. It might have worked well as a complete sandbox back in the day. But now DayZ is mostly alive on its past fame, and a lot of guys who still play are just the ones who didn't in the "golden age", I wouldn't expect them to be top class either. The game needs to have proper gameplay guiding mechanics, and loot economy is exactly that. When players in the map are as dense as vapor, this game is just a vapor too. Some might have learned about the game just in past year or so, some might upgraded their hardware just now.... When DayZ launched 0.60 performance improved so much that basically doors got opened for a great mass of players. Sadly the gameplay went downhill so fast, that it was just obvious - don't play me yet. Buy me when I'm at full price please. Goodbye, and see you later. I should stop posting here because everything is crystal clear, and it is pointless fighting windmills. Don't play me yet. Buy me when I'm at full price please. Goodbye, and see you later.

Maybe true, but I prefered to meet random people in the coast. Maybe naturaly one day I will evolve into your level, and will meet some people regularly with a help of mentioned applications and forums. But thats a bit deeper level. As for being easy/hard in terms of loot economy. More loot makes it harder IMO, because naturaly more players gets armed. And these things has nothing to do with engines and features.. It just could be.

The design and vision is wothless, I'm afraid. The gameplay should be getting better and better. But it has mostly been the opposite with each update, especialy since late 2015. Also seems like 10-15 people are really working on this game. First of all - thanks Bohemia Interactive for great care. I guess Dean Hall quit not without the reason either. I smell corruption. Second thanks for removing life from the coasts, as it was the main areas for basic interactions, as in inlands it is just so much more difficult and less likely to happen. Low max player count doesn't help either. How much it should have been ? 150 ? Coasts were the areas where things was starting to evolve, without coasts it is just a big nonsense. At coast you would be getting your share of interactions, and a bit of chaos, and at the inlands it would have been more calm, but more unpredictable. Now everywhere it is almost the same. Third - thanks for making it not only running simulator, by not introducing a simple stupid bike, or bicycle, but also for making it looting simulator because loot economy works just so incredibly well. And the worst part is that the community, which once been pretty damn awesome, has been lost. Creative community is huge part for such uncontrolled game to be fun. Because only players actions makes it good, if players can't work out anything else what to do besides loot all the time and then KOS, then it quickly gets pretty bad. And the game doesn't help - it tells to you - keep running my friend, lots of buildings are meant to be visited today in various towns, so forget about actually playing, because finding gear is an actual game now.
-
What they did originally was that they were working on DayZ, but then started working on DayZ 2 instead. I wonder if they will decide to work on DayZ 3 instead, "Oh the game took so long to develop, and technology stepped so far forward, and our engine is too old now, we have to switch engines once again". Money has been paid already anyway, so whatever lol they are perfectly valid to ignore the expectations completely. Really didn't believe that when people used to say this a few years ago, but it is becoming the truth. At least the game wouldn't be in its most boring, and lifeless state it has ever been in this stagnation time. So the advice would be just to call it DayZ 2.0 when it is released, because thats exactly what is happening. DayZ has been killed in 2015. And the reborn will practically be 2.0.

After latest statusreport it makes sense, though maybe not stable release but first exp build. I'd expect then exp builds to span till forever.
