Guess when helicopters will be in
Mantasisg replied to MaxwellHouse69420's topic in General Discussion
I guess 4th quarter of 2019 as well as throwing, bicycles and other "complex" stuff. No.. but seriously Helicopters just can not be less complex than thowing or bicycle... think about it. -
If server goes down whenever it gets spicy and player runs for comfort it is big flaw of the game. DayZ is not the only one. For example in racing simulators rain has same effect. Why ? Because people. Game being free sandbox is awesome, but apparently full freedom doesn't exist, because of our natural seek of comfort we sometimes can miss so much rewarding things... The only way to solve the issues would be making server hopping and all other ways of bending the game to be unrewarding in certain ways. It is aIso very sad to me that in community servers it is possible to have it all day only and all dry only. Game designers must not allow people to have too much control.

What about just learning to deal with the challenge ?

Just log-off lol, you know you are playing survival game, and you can survive by doing that :D You can log-off everytime survival begins, so you can "survive" for WEEKS ! :D Great stuff :D
-
However this is a flexible game. If I would, I'd create a server with 2-3hours of day and 1 hour of night. I know people would log-off at night though :D Because they are:
-
Some nights are rather dark. Some locations are very dark. Sometimes light makes darkness even darker. Sometimes there is no moon. Sometimes there are clouds. Sometimes there is rain. Sometimes it is cold. And you just logoff because you can. ALSO YOU ARE BORING
-
Something smart has to be done about server hopping. First, to stop people from looting up in totally empty servers and then engaging "superior" in full server. Second, to stop avoiding the bad weathers, nights, and sticky situations. Something should be "unrewarding" when you hop to different server. Especially if you'd hop to entirely different server, for example from empty to full, or from night/rain to day/dry. I would suggest putting on temporary "Hopnik" brand clothing for a hour or two. Presenting: Empty to Full server (while strongly geared) hopnik hat: Night to Day or rain to dry hopnik outfit: Watch people stop server hopping.

I haven't played for a while, I guess I'd better turn on experimental, hopefully will get better game there. Just saw that 1.0 is hitting it in December 13th, we'll seee...

Is it still an issue ? I find the game pointless to play because of that. It is so incredibly bad and wrong... did the stun mechanics just got bugged, or they just didn't implement probability factor ? It should be a miracle to make three stuns in a row. @Buakaw agreed, melee used to be quite fun, it used to be quite chaotic but very dynamic, I also remember the moments when K.O. or kill happened with single swing or punch, it wasn't too often, but always so surprising and fun. Surprises, unexpected things might as well be best words to describe dayZ. Without that DayZ is pointles.

It's still always night, and always raining.
Mantasisg replied to Deadboy (DayZ)'s topic in General Discussion
I just tried DayZ every server is same, with slight differences. Sunshine, good weather, no players around, no guns to be found. Coast are alive only for a short time, then everyone is all around the map... it is a ghost town. No point to play alone, because if you don't have reall friend set, then you aren't going to find one ingame. -

Mantasisg replied to Deadboy (DayZ)'s topic in General Discussion
Survival game player - "it is raining and night - not gonna play", deal with it, sugar. The way people are very mediocore in average in large numbers makes them an enemies of themselves, because they are making game unchalleging by their desires of simplifying everything. Though I am not saying that there shouldn't be a choice for a daylight server, everything has limits. I also had an issue yesterday in exp. I wanted night, when i clicked on nigght, it was actually a day :/ -
I am not a popular guy around current DayZ community, and I always knew why. It is same reason why news about 1.0 are unpopular. And those are wrong reasons. I have always been big advocate of something what real DayZ is in my head, and I have zero doubt that it really is main thing, the whole essence of DayZ. It is other people, other players. The way we interact in this virtual world, it is always unexpected, always a different experience, always remarkable. Well at least it used to be, before DayZ began working against themselves by adjusting DayZ in a way that you met less and less people, spent more and more time just looting and so on... Reduced amount of interactions had bad impact on whole social system of a game, as a result the main goal of DayZ which is unique experiences suffered a lot. Who has continued to play ? Either big big fans, or people who enjoy running a lot in virtual world and pretending that they are challenged by something and collecting all weapons in their empty servers. Now this has turned out against DayZ. I read lots of posts in reddit how players are impacted by lesser amount of weapons, even going pretty much straight forward that it was their kind of game, basically becoming kings of items. I tried to write something about experience, interactions... you know all that stuff that current DayZ community doesn't care, no success. The results of the "desired features poll" are showing it perfectly. The feature "More weapons" just simply dominated. First of all, it is quite sad that "more guns" is considered as a feature in a first place. Secondly, it just shows that DayZ in past few years has developed a weapons collectors, looters community, which doesn't appreciate true essence of DayZ. My personal opinion about amount of weapons. I think the amount of weapons, just like the size of the map can work against the game. Like it is possible to make people never run against each other in huge map, it is possible to make guns to make never run to fitting ammo or magazine if you'll have a lot of them. Also people are freaking out about realism without any logic sometimes, wishing for over complicated ridiculous mechanics and so on... what about it not being real to have such a crazy variety of weapons in 14x14km area ? Or almost never finding bullets and/or magazines nearby ? Is it realistic ? It is in order to achieve a certain gameplay. There is no gameplay in looting and collecting weapons in empty server. However, I'm just asuming that 1.0 will have good gameplay. So we will see how it will play. Plus, @Kirov (DayZ) wrote very true thing about negativity towards news. It is more than likely that 1.0 might not be enjoyable only for part of current community, new players or players comming back might find it very good. So you shouldn't have played thousands of hours already, it is your fault :D Lesser pack of the game might also be more than enough for newcomers and if content and features will be added regularly and fast enough, then it will be no problem at all. So chill out, and lets wait what kind of game 1.0 will turn out to be. I think 1.0 is a major overreaction, and I think Devs did good decision. Less is more.

This is what DayZ should look like closing up to 1.0

I like the idea of statistics, but I would do double, triple.... thinking. Because stats should encourage to play the game in such way that everybody would win the most out of it. -

Well it is a bit of a mystery, but I think it is necessary that players would hang in a coast for 10-20-30 minutes before rushing out. Ideally I would say between 30-60 mins, well not as a rule or something but purely natural average gameplay time, I think it is almost completely influenced by central economy. I actually had success yesterday in ST SWE halloween server to meet two great guys in Electro in about 20minutes of play, later near Staroy someone was shooting at us, but thats great because I think DayZ has to have a blend of friendly and hostile players, and coast naturally a larger concentration of friendly players. -

Whatever. Of course things will evolve into the situations where you have to survive. Of course there will be PVP. I am not talking about RP... I don't really do RP, maybe I lack imagination. But I really like not to approach every single person like it was meant only to be violent in this game. Talking is important to me because I like to improve language, also it is immersive, brings good emotions and provides whole lot of experience, it brings game to next dimension. If you only PVP thats great for you, you can be "spending time with a bunch of kids who just want to do what they want to do" too. I also like to go full PVP sometimes, but thats not where full DayZ comes from, and without social element it is a bit weird game TBH. -

I believe that it can be restored, modding itself is not an answer. But if community increases and get stronger then it is very big bonus. However vanilla has to be center and cementing element, and I believe that it will soon get sorted out. I am so possitive because I've just have probably best DayZ experience in last few years (just 30mins ago in stress test54). Just simply met two guys, ran around just talked, eventually got into trouble, had to deal with it, thats it it is DayZ it is awesome, PS the night is CRAZY ! -

It is not false at all, it was proven in practice in pre 0.6 builds, I have played most of my DayZ in 0.54-0.58, and thats how it was, and it worked. Coasts were the most involving areas to player interactions, also most chaotic areas, further inlands things gets calmer but with higher risk of unexpected things, and finally military zones, heli crashes and paths or places close to them were high pvp probability zones. You still had great chances to pull of friendly interactions in Vibor, or even NWAF, but it was getting more and more difficult to go "clean" there, thats how DayZ had variety and support for all playstyles... it is that simple. I am not even talking about what was after, just running and looting... no conversations, no events, no adventures, unless you were very lucky or had a will and time luxury to WASD+SHIFT for hours, DayZ from 0.59-till now is basically lost in my perspective. Player dispersion has to be optimised, simple as that, if you want more then just can play in less populated servers, or wait for those even larger mod Maps, basically it will be same thing, but player who wants less disperion has no choice (majority of players)... if you'd chack the steamcharts.com you'd notice that populations drops when there is nothing to do in game, or if it doesn't work properly... thats your own argument against yourself. It is not a fault of content, you can see new renderer boosted up things, but it didn't last. Why ? Because gameplay. Is it hard to understand that gameplay is NOT a technology of a game, it is NOT a content of a game, because those things alone doesn't guarantee experience. I don't call them simpletons @Private Evans I call those who can never hold an interaction and always just attack. I mean always, players who knows no other way, no creativity at all. At least I can see some creativity behind a group who comes to the coast to make a mess, then they will create heros, as eventually some guys might form a group to "save the town", now it can get somewhere from there. But you can't have anything like that if you have super rare player interactions, because once you start messing around chances are too low that anyone around will come to check the situation. There is no challenge in avoiding people at all, much bigger challenge is to meet anyone @benedictus . No wonder it is rare to get a memorable moment, if there is no choice for the player who doesn't want to be alone all the time. You want higher chance of interactions, be at/near the coast. Want higher chance of PVP, go to military zones and anywhere where is great chance to find weapons of a certain level. Want less chances to meet anyone, go to less populated teritories of chernarus and thats it. Thats how it used to be, and it worked well. -

WOOOOOOW !!!!1 Don't be silly. I have expressed in the very same way you did. And I am more than certain that DayZ core gameplay IS INTERACTING WITH OTHER PLAYERS and with environment at the same time, it is not only PVP and PVE, it is also and even more P&P and P&E game. https://dictionary.cambridge.org/dictionary/english/interacting I don't care you didn't state KOS, nor did I assumed that you are like that, nor I called YOU a simpleton and so on... but neither I say that you aren't, if you ask me, I don't really know. The interactions and social aspect is very much controlled by central economy and attraction objects of the game. The rule is simple - more interactions creates better social involvement. Less interactions - worse social aspect and more killing on sight. The best place for interactions is the coast, when players are still fresh. But there has to be a reason to be at the coast for a while, there has to be basic guns and ammo like in older DayZ, the coasts worked perfectly fine, gun at the coast has always been very much to protect yourself rather than 100% of the time attack, it was interesting blend. And it was always great to move to inlands after a while. You don't need any mods for that, so XBOX can work just as well, only if developers will decide to make a servers where interactions are encouraged rather than forcing players to scatter all around the map leaving the only end game goal - collecting gear. -
I think core community didn't play the game for a few years. Because collecting weapons in lifeless servers and then ghosting to full but still lifeless servers aren't what core DayZ players used to do some years ago. I remember watching Puhdado streams a lot ! There were plenty of entertaining streamers, I remember watching DanielFromSL when DayZ was in 0.59 or around the time when player interactions ware going somewhere away from the game... I remember him running around cherno for 20-30mins and not meeting anyone, that was about the time of weapon collectors, server ghosters, bushmasters time of DayZ.

You are wrong there. DayZ is all about interactions. And past few years there were basicaly close to zero of that, thats why simpletones grew up. Thats why people think that their goal is to "harvest" weapons and then go to deathmatch, thats why content is so much a feature... You can even never leave the coast, get only the basic weapons, meet a lot of people and create groups and just survive together and then things happen. You can barely ever get to hold a high end weapon in DayZ and still have way more experiences than a robotic simpleton who has developed a skill to get a high end weapon and go to shoot those few people which he will find in few hours if lucky. More weapons will make the game better for that guy indeed... The game for sure is easy this way, because you do nothing basically. Try to defend yourself with a single pistol against two guys with M4 in some town... try to trust your "friendly" survivors while you keep looting together and all of you gradually are getting looted... try to go check whats going on when you'll hear shots and not to aim to KOS, just meet people and don't aim to KOS, give some rags to few bleeding Russian strangers in cherno while being aware to the worst scenario... You know whats the conclusion ? You go for people in DayZ, you try to get in touch and build trust, but you can not trust everyone so you always have to be aware thats DayZ, and sometimes you may be the one who shouldn't be trusted. Thats what I expect from 1.0, then the rest, the flavours - later. -

Less items, more gameplay. -
Recently I have played stresstests, which are focused PVP. One day I was pretty much on a rampage in UK server, and yesterday I was pretty much owned in SWE server... are scandinavians superior in pVp ?
