[Dev] Eye zoom 'probably' being removed entirely
Mantasisg replied to -Gews-'s topic in General Discussion
People with small monitors are going to suffer the most from this. Maybe just make the correct FOV aka iron sight, aka eagle eye, aka bionic eye as default. And ditch the stretched out one, as that is less realistic, at least mathematically. But oh welll.... performance. Sometimes it looks like gameplay is at the very bottom of things in DayZ. -

A game - find a smart post in this thread, and quote it (there is probably only one) http://forums.joinsquad.com/topic/9574-zoom-focus/?page=3 -

Isn't it just realistic FOV within a click of RMB, which you call robo eyes and everything ? -

No the fuss is not about Gews, it is because of me posting a tiny bit too energetic, not politically enough to these days standarts. I have posted a post what more could be nerfed in this game in order to save more performance, which was a joke more or less.... and this social justice war begun from there also fanboys sesnitivity value risen, no point to do drama IMO Totally nice posting by Gews, makes me happy. But I guess thats fighting the windmills unfortunately. -

Back in the day fog worked in different way perhaps ? Nowadays it doesn't hit performance, at least it seems so to me. DayZ has a beautiful fog, which works neatly trapped in the coast between the mountains.... Tooo bad lately haven't seen any rain or fog, IDK why, perhaps because people are too simple, and likes only sunshine and butterflies. Again, AFAIK, I'm not sure about that. But, AFAIK, zoom is the way to simulate correct FOV. Naturally screens are too little to have enough vision and proper FOV at the same time. So it compensates that, and correct FOV is better when you have to look far ahead. Obviously. So it is like zoom. IMO it is good feature. 0.62 has rather annoying issues with trees LODs switching, just doesn't work very well, this is probably related. -
So excited about this :) Current DayZ is so much off my taste, if it is not going to improve, then it is all about modding from there. I hope modding will take immersion into account and will not introduce ridiculous content, also quality over quantity all the time ! Big hopes for gameplay changes. Would love various features comming from modding to improve gameplay, first of all more interactions ! It could even be a smaller map, or just a few points of interest in the map.... countless possibilities Basebuilding is comming, to my mind it will not make any sense in default DayZ. I hope for "clans" mod or something like that, where players would spawn in opposite clans and should build theyr main bases, and play capture the flag or something..... I'd hope for such things from default DayZ, but the struggle is too big, I guess. But gotta keep expectations low, in order not to get hit in the head if something is not going to be too great immediately. Whats immediatelly ? I guess whole 2018.

You make me sad, @exacomvm.... There is a difference between fog and dust. Fog and smoke works very nicelly in DayZ btw. Fog doesn't hit fps, AFAIK, it also reduces drawing distances, so it should increase fps. Furthermore, it was a joke. I was not serious, I was exaggerating in response to the Zoom being taken out, which is not even official or anything. -

Constructive feedback in a nutshell: My forum tactics are politically suicidal, thats for sure. But all I said was that I dislike good features being taken out of the game, and thats not the first time. And then fanboys attack. Zoom has always been a very useful feature, especially when I used to play with a laptop, then I used that function all the time. Without it it would have been bad. Having a good sight in a distance in DayZ is far more important than in any other game. There is no point even to compare with any other game. It is super helpful to press RMB and have a natural FOV for a few seconds. If the issue is to save the performance, then perhaps the game should be delayed at least 5 more years, and perhaps then computers and serves and internet connections will be more powerful, at least a bit more powerful to pull this game which requires very good performance in all departments. This is game for the future, I guess. However still looking forward to 0.63, hopefully there will be many great things to outweight loss of zoom (if it is true) and the wait, I've seen in a previews than player finally is able to run uphill, thats awesome :) Someone has started the rumor that it could happen this tuesday aka today, I hope. -

Aaaand welcome to ignore list, Squeez, tired of your semi conscious mash up of thoughts, visions and whatever. Go spin a fidget spinner. Anybody who dislikes me, can ignore anytime. I'm not for likes, and making friends with everybody. And my idea was that DayZ is being stripped out. Those little details, like zoom, are important parts of DayZ for me, it is used very often to adjust FOV and focus in the distance when needed. If it is going to be removed - thumbs down. -

How to save more on performance. Make corpses disappear in 10 seconds; Make it to be always foggy, very very foggy; Remove third person view completely; No... make corpses disappear in 5 seconds..... Remove stupid things like night and rain, no servers are using that anyway (because people only likes sunshine and being comfortable, even on dayz (I know it is sad to me too, I'd like to play in rain and cold nights too); More LODS, like new LOD every three meters; Reduce max players count to 30, because there is no difference anyway when they all gets all through the map; Reduce capacity of inventory; Cancel Base Building, because there is no room for it performance wise anyway. Cancel vehicles, whatever lol; Strip down the physics, kids will not notice anyway; Actually there could be even less loot around. Reduce the map size - now this one is real idea, no sarcasm here. I don't know why DayZ keeps removing nice things.... Ohhh, performance.... Anybody remember times when after death you could still hear and see a bit..... Or when corpses lasted something like 30minutes..... It was cool. -

Base building in hived servers after 0.63 release
Mantasisg replied to OscarBlindeye's topic in General Discussion
Beses are going to be weird at first -
Yes it is relative, it doesn't mean actual sequence 1 by 1 in between. But traditionally it has always been a 0.01 step. Those steps could be made in: ages,or centuries, or decades, or years, or months, or weeks, or days, or hours. No, hours would probably be too fast :D In this case iterations might be blended. But it would break the tradition. So if the tradition goes, there will be 38 iterations left for the rest of unknown time span.

It actually should be something like 0.7 before christmas, because the hard tech work should be done, and the fun part should begin - implementing all that content which was prepared in all these years. Should

That should be 0.64 at least

@sneakydude You are right, except that I get frustrated not geting any interactions, it was somehow alright before 0.6. or 0.59. PVP is also nice, but what I enjoy the most is just having friendly interactions. you just don't get to meet as much as you used too... basically thats all what this game is missing for me, and it had it a few years ago I agree it is best to play between the itterations, and thats exactly what I do. But my whining is trigered by fear that this is actually what this game is going to be about - having interactions with other people might continue to be super rare, I see some are enjoying that, and even started to think that this game is going to stay for them "hardcore survivalists" as they say lol They probably haven't even played DayZ a few years ago, when you really had a lot of struggle. Thats it, I just hope that this kind of game will come back. I agree about playing in between patches, but the game is going away, and there might be a divorce, thats it, no problem. And I don't whine all the time, just most of the time :D can not wait for 63 !
-
If thats going to be not months or even the weeks, then we are going to be able to check it all ourselves. Right ? I may not need DayZiagra. It is getting up.
-
It might be truth, but I wouldn't be so certain. It might become much harder to stay alone in future of DayZ, just guessing. It is not like few million people funded the developer to make an epic game for a few "chosen ones", is it ?

You'd be great friends with DayZTV admins. I have done good providing constructive opinion, I'd say you have no ability to welcome any oposing opinion to yours. Perhaps I've already presented my opinions about the current state of DayZ enough times, but when people asks how to bring the players back, I have an opinion, and i post it. Don't tell me to stop posting, even though I probably will because there is nothing left unsaid about current problems of DayZ. Perhaps, it depends on what you call fully kitted, I'm usually perfactly happy with anything what shots 357 or has a scope. Last time I think I knew what I was doing at Novy and Stary Sobor and then NWAF, and haven't got any amunition. It was public server. I also have 500+ hours in DayZ, still a noob in a gunfights, but I'd say I know the basics. Prove that doing same things will not bring different results in DayZ, going same paths in DayZ each time can bring anything unpredictable (things used to happen more often in the past), I dig that you should know the hot points of the map if you want to get into something, but there are many of those by now. I'm happy that you lately had some nice experience in the game, I suppose it is rare now. Maybe will have to check those BR servers. If will ever feel like playing DayZ again. The passion still kicks in sometimes.

That button means that there might be issues, which is allright and understandable. But when that issue is totally stripped out gameplay, then that is different. Surely being an early access means that there may be issues, but it doesn't set off devs from responsibility to deliver something what people would enjoy, and the most enjoyable elements of DayZ are stripped out strategically. Thats why most of people doesn't see any game there when they run around the map for a few hours, finds few meaningful items, for example an axe, a sporter and a few .22s if lucky. Meets someone in quite rare occasions, and mostly those are noobs, who doesn't even know that they have to press Caps Lock to talk, or inevitable killing on sight happens. It was different before techside got much better, tech side got better and the gameplay "somehow" changed completely. I'd call it simply a poor gameplay design, or on purpose. It has nothing to do with being an early access.
-
Well I just guess that 0.63 should work because Devs has pointed out that it is finally about gameplay. Gameplay was really poor the last two years, two years.... Before tech side got improved it had much better gameplay, as you say things happened, I used to experience tons of unique adventures and events, it was incredibly fun. Right now it is just run, loot, and get shot game, as you say. it is totally because of how rare the interactions are, it disbalances everything. Also most creative people definitely doesn't play. And this game needs creative people and many interactions. No creativity, no interactions - no DayZ. Slightly more loot and some more ways and chances to travel not on foot all the time would also help. Having less points of interest would also be good, fewer "go to" places would definitely make things more intense. Or if there are going to be so many, then there better be more chances to travel fast and 150players as visioned in early days. 0.63 could literally just adjust the loot economy in such way that there would be more interactions and it would bring the gameplay already. IDK what was the point for TISY and almost empty coast areas if there barely are any ways to travel fast to those distant places, the game pace is horrible, the amount of KOS is horrible, lack of interactions is horrible, I understand that no loot should add apocaliptic immersion, but it is also horrible and adds no immersion at all.... PUBG is very fun game, it is awesome. But it has something like only ~10percents of what DayZ should be. Modding should be awesome, but if there would be ~1000avg players by the time modding comes, modding might not spark

..... what kind of question is this ? I'm not happy with the game, if I'd be the only one, or part of minority - I wouldn't. Numbers says that I'm not the only one, so I'm confident to be honestly disappointed by various things. But seems that I'm one of the very few who aren't enjoying the game, but still cares about it. Big hopes for 0.63, but I keep expectations low. It very likely could be the last chance for DayZ. If you don't like me, maybe you can ignore me IDK. I may still care till 0.63 will be released. And as I have said, I hope that this promised update will really bring the players, and not just to check whats new, but for good lol
-
......aaaaaand it peaked 5K in the last 30days http://steamcharts.com/app/221100 Also it is weird how often people doesn't use what they buy, but I guess it happens a lot with first world little children and immature audiences in general. But now.... I don't blame them. My causin bought DayZ few months ago, he launched the game, died and has never played again, speaking of realism he is doing it right lol because if you die you die. If it is true that couple of millions bought dayz it is really weird to see such low numbers. I'm trying to be hyped for 0.63, but it is getting difficult to me, I may need to take some DayZiagra.
-
I hope 0.63 will not be another issue of "check the update - still bad - waiting for next iterarion". Millions of people has bought the game....
-
There will always be some people who will have their "this is what DayZ is all about", "DayZ is not for you" opinion.... It is rather pathetic argument over the how "exciting" the game is ATM. Obviously there will always be some folks who will love how reality is, and will not want anything to change. The userbase is dropping rapidly, now it is under 3k average players in last 30days, which is still something, but what I have noticed that most of the players which I met in my last playtimes were non-vocals, KOS'ers... Clearly all is left are the people "who knows whats the DayZ is all about". How to bring players back ? make the game and they said they will finally for 0.63, well... lets waaaaaaaait, I mean waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaait. No wonder so much people quit DayZ: People naturally gets bored after thousands of hours spent running mostly It is not too enjoyable to have lootless servers It is not too enjoyable to play with noobs, KOS'ers, non vocal children and retards. Creative community is not really very active. Smarter people realised that they will get bored of DayZ before it gets finished, so stopped doing it. And it was easy because since ~0.6-0.59 the game was majorly unexciting Very low chance to get a vehicle, and actually benefit from it Players got scattered all across the map and interactions became fewer, and their quality got much worse because of that IDK if there is way back. Last time I have played DayZ i was running around inlands for hour and didn't find any loot. Why should I be spending my time like that ? I'll leave it to you guys, who are enjoying pretending to be survivng, just existing basically. I need adventures, interactions, and action. It is not funny anymore.
