    .63 ETA ?

Everyone has his/her personal issues with the game. My main issues are simple and connected- no interactions at the coast and bad loot economy. For some reason I'm afraid that these will stay. Those are the reasons which IMO ruins DayZ, despite the tech is much better. 1.No interactions at the coast - I have learned that at the inlands interactions with strangers is a bad idea. I have had a few of them which didn't happen to be KOS thing, however, it took about 1-3 minutes and I was killed, for me it is not that much different from KOS, just with a short dialogue. If you meet any stranger at the inlands both of you are probably armed, probably have something good in the backpack, the tension grows rapidly if you stay close just for a bit more than a few seconds (if you have been lucky enough not to get killed on sight, in the first place). No interactions at the coast - no interactions at all. And thats why it is so: greater density of players if they stay a bit longer at the coast, less tension because the spawn is less valuable at the time, other fresh spawns are simply less dangerous, bandits or zombies threatening freshspawns are working as a unifying force. 2.Bad loot economy - used to be pretty good in one patch, not the one when you could get massively armed at the gate houses and police stations, but before that. I like DayZ much more when it wasn't as much about running all the time for sake of looting, and looting was something like an important part of the game, but not the most of it. Stable servers with persistence on are just not worth even loging on - you won't find anything. Some private servers are better, but still way too hard to get stuff. Coasts are just empty - don't even waste time. Here our best interaction areas goes out through the window. I don't know about food, it is too rare too, but perhaps not as much as guns and ammo. Guns and ammo aren't that crazy rare, but because you have to find fitting bullets (of which there are many types) the difficulty gets squared, and because you also would enjoy to have a correct magazine the difficulty goes cubed. There is a limited amount of empty houses, and time without interactions before you start wondering what the hell I'm doing with my life now.

He asks me if I have ReAL WoRLd SuRVIval knowledge. Not really. But I have at least some logic. Also tells me "not to tell him how to survive". But teaches others. Being a teacher is quite responsible IMO. It starts rain. You have to move real fast, make a shelter, make a fire. What if you have no matches. What if at that location it had been raining before and the wood is wet and it is harder to light the fire. What if temps are close to zero. What if the wind is strong and cold. What if it is a storm with lightnings. What if you have to stay hidden from somebody. What if you don't have the items which you should have at the moment... Oh it is not rational to get into such situation. It also sucks. Better log off, and pretend that such thing never happened :D 1minute YT search https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=58TAnlJOSUw

    .63 ETA ?

I remember watching Survivor Games, it was quite entertaining in DayZ. This is one of the reasons why people are waiting for the mods,

    How To Win Playerbase Back

Seeing that this has generated almost 150k views, we can assume that quite a lot of people are still keeping an eye on this dream. Unless thats comes from fanboys refreshing the video 24/7. Many other youtubers also has relative high number of views in their latest content, IMO 20K views is very much when avg players count is ~2k.

Kinda weird to worry about such essential things. When DayZ has been sold-out like gold in the very first days, and is now so much years into development.

True, but it is a game to blame too. If game allows to easily go around challenge by ghosting or logging-off, then people will simply do it. It is human nature, humans will go through all the possible gaps to get in front. Even if it is dishonest and disrespectful towards everyone else. Those gaps has to be patched. Oh is it night ? Deal with it. Oh is it rain ? Deal with it. Oh you heard wolves ? Run, bish. Got outnumbered in a fight, or getting pwned ? Deal with it. Server has terrible lag, hackers or something like that ? Oh, perhaps you are right this moment. ******* I have a question. It would be nice to know if I can check ambient temperatures, and wind speeds somehow. Can I do it in DayZ ? I wouldn't be surprised if most servers are only using optimal temps for sprinting, and to dry-off after getting wet (for example swimming, because - rain is, obiously, not used). ****** Imagine servers in 0.63 could be set not to use stamina system. I guess it is pretty obvious what servers would be chosed by the mass. The bad thing is that when the mass makes the choice, then the rest has to deal with lonelyness, or has to get over the principles and move together with the mass, in other words - join the mass. Really dieing for 0.63, it is not even funny. PUBG is very fun, but it is not DayZ, you know.

@emuthreat Well you took it out of the context, because it was mostly about metagaming: not playing in the rain at all, not playing in the night at all, ghosting, gearing up in empty servers, logging off when trapped in the battle.... And does the trees really help to avoid getting wet and cold ? I thought it doesn't. Though it would be realsitic to have less rain, less wind and higher temps in the woods. The fact that you can simply do all this just takes so much out from the game. I'm surprised about arguments that it is ok not to play in the rain, or night. It is sad because it would be entertaining, also devs has been working hard to bring those features, it is sad to see them not being appreciated. What I meant was that some things like rain or night shouldn't be easily avoidable. I checked servers yesterday, all were sunny. In public server where I played it actually rained lightly, for two minutes lol (I guess to prevent players from overheating lol), full server, no loot at all at any place. But thats offtopic. I would expect the last, most loyal, DayZ players to use the game to the fullest, sadly it appears not be so. Thats why I say that the best, most creative players of DayZ are just not active. You just like filling your tents with the precious loot in comfy conditions, most of it you don't actually need. The game is not about survival now, it is all about collecting loot now.

    think about it.

@green_mtn_grandbob Who you are referring to ? If me - I'm not a modder. And I'd change "will have to work with" to "will be able to work with", don't take modding for granted, it is 2017, quality bars are very high, it takes more and more to produce a quality content. Modders also has life lol I guess. :/ Wasn't it said by devs that modding will come with Beta ?

    think about it.

Are you camping there ? Good base game for a modding is a must, if base will be weak (and I think it will not be, just have to find out about possibilities for modding), then there will simply be fewer mods. Another aspect which could prevent modding from going big - low activity. Obviously base must be very good for big numbers, but not only tech base, but also a gameplay base. Right now the game is basically a tech demo. I don't know if a mod could pull the game out of the bottom. Considering that there would appear a mod with superb appealing gameplay changers, then I would say maybe, thats why people has hopes in modding, they aren't enjoying gameplay in current iterations, and hoping gameplay changer mod. Whatever it would be - the possibilities are huge. The only things which will be limiting all this are motivation and free time of the modder. And stupid posts like calling people who shares high hopes about modding stupid is just stupid. DayZ started from a mod, and I'm really curious about modding in DayZ. What do you want to achieve by saying that "I don't even need mods" ? What kind of opinion is that, it is typical passive forum wishlisting. I want this, I don't want this. Valuable.

@Whyherro123 You teach ? And you are tend to log-off when it is raining ? You must be a very good teacher. I'm not saying that you are completely wrong, you have to rest, you have to do nothing for some time, you have to save energy, you have to avoid getting cold, ruining your clothes and so on and so on.... It is just that we are talking about the game, you aren't supposed to spend your nice free evening in a game sitting in a shed for 20minutes hiding while it is shooting around, just because it would be rational IRL, you are supposed to bring the action go right through challenges, not arround them. IRL the challenge would catch sooner or later, there is no log-off. When you teach, you should simulate an awful conditions, because in the extremes you are most likely to break down. But you said some stuff in survival sucks lol those are your words, if you take money for your teaching you probably aren't giving practice that "sucks" for your pupils :/ We have a game here, DayZ, which SHOULD be about the challenge not about how to stay comfy when we are supposed to constantly move to save our ass. How could you know that you aren't going to be forced to move in a rainy night with temps close to 0C in an extreme situation, this game is about that, getting in extreme situations and being able to go through them. If your method of going through difficulty is to log-off, and with as much convincing argument as "it is not rational to be out in the rain in night". I don't even...... I guess you don't even swim to places, because it makes you wet too.

@Whyherro123 here we go, no reason, pointless development..... Don't you think that everything in DayZ would "really fucking suck in real life". Infected npc, not being able to trust anyone, fear for your life, hunger, cold, starvation, hypothermia, injuries, not being able to find a safe spot, gunshots, fear and more fear..... Do you really think that in a survival you would be able to stay warm in rainy night all the time, or sleep with both eyes closed and do your medicine and save food that way ? Don't you think that it would be a nice idea to go through dangerous fields at night, because decreased visibility, and dark tones would help you to stay unseen ? Or the sound of rain would hide your footsteps sound ? Also what about simply having to move when it is raining, not being able to afford staying at some cosy place, because you are extremely low on something. Of course loging off is always an answer. How to survive in DayZ ? Step one: choose empty sunny server, step two: play till bored, step three: log off, log on three months later. Congrats you have been hibernating for three months, you are champion of survival.

    Noobs Hate Rain

Wow, I didn't know that it was actually a thing in DayZ lol Used to log-off at random places at random time haha Will definitely be more careful now, but I think 30s might not be enough then. Obviously there should be a warning that you are not going to despawn immediately after logging off, I didn't even know that. Used to learn about the game a lot through the streams and from other players through interactions, sadly fav streamers are gone (I hope just paused), and interactions aren't happening that much, also when they happens they are very short at recent iterations, because reasons. Aren't private server admins able to set the weather (I don't know), I thought they can do that, so I expect private servers to be always beautiful sunshine too. It is sad that night and rain aren't properly appreciated IMO, DayZ really shines at this, the shadow rendering which was achieved by devs is truly incredible, and in general rain and night are very immersive in DayZ, and adds a ton to the survival. It is a shame that metagaming, a shame. I would really look for something more forcing. Freedom of choice is good, but TBH sometimes its better when someone else is choosing for you, for example nature lol Really sad that such mentality is majority of players. I used to play DayZ only in 1st person view for the first few hundred hours, but after seeing streamers using almost only third persons view, and understanding the advantages made me to choose it. Shame that naturally players are choosing for most dumbed down mechanics when they can. I guess I just have to try not to cry now, and accept the fact that most of the players in most of the games want extras such as night, rain, sandstorms lol and whatever just for a try, but keeps playing only a particular "classic" combo. So then the question evolves, is it worth to implement that ? Does it pay off it is only for minority of the minority. Also a bonus line among the selling points.

    think about it.

Typical forum kids or immature grownups thoughts: "personally I like this more than that", "It doesn't excite me as much as", "All I care is me, and all my posts are about me, why on earth the game needs modding, if I don't need them", "why not everything is designed for me personally", "why others see modding as a good thing, I hate it, no modding for me", "I'm so sick that others are different than I am, I am the best"..... Modding..... what a waste of time, it never grows into full titles, which are loved by millions..... Oh wait. If 8/10 modds are crap it doesn't mean that modding is crap, if there still is a hope for DayZ SA, and some brave people will devote their time and will create an epic mod, and if it will hit your little heart and you'll fall in love and then you'll remember this thread, and you'll know.

    The theory of everything

pls dev increase HARDCORE VALUE in difficulty.ini, or whatever file is controling the dificulty, also change the line GOOD_GAMEPLAY from FALSE to TRUE. Thats it - solved. I guess when 0.63 will hit exp branches the servers will be flooded, like it happened with 0.6 haha It was terrible.

I was thinking about this crystal ball thing yesterday to find out when the 0.63 :D
  20. Mantasisg

    How To Win Playerbase Back

Finished in theoretical meaning, or practical ? Because if 0.63 and next iterations will not gain the momentum, then the game is practically finished.

    How To Win Playerbase Back

@Gobbokirk Thats the spirit, man. Let the game die, but if it will still have those 200 hundred players, and one full server it is going to be perfectly fine :((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((( Lets be honest, you are playing this more than DayZ ? You would if you have tried it. http://steamcharts.com/app/578080

    How To Win Playerbase Back

There is only single way of looking at it: http://steamcharts.com/app/221100 And those numbers are directly connected to how fun the game is. Many says that DayZ is ded and it is overZ and so on..... But if DayZ will pull its cards finally and actually make a GAME once and for good, then a lot of players will come back. What is needed is for it to finally to become a GAME, and start rolling out the iterations more often than once per year (and that iterations would IMPROVE the gameplay, and not the contrary, like 4-6 last iterations was doing). And thats exactly what is expected from 0.63 and post 0.63 iterations. Personally I'm super tired of waiting, even starting to get addicted to PUBG lol BohemiaAAAaaaa

    Hardcore in DayZ

@GobbokirkOkay, I got that "everyone" virus too. Guilty. But it is just harder to get even basically armed than ever. That was the idea. Definintely DayZ professionals are getting better quicker and in larger scale, than the game is getting harder (in terms of loot), because in many other ways the game is not very hard. This thread is about game being too easy after all. I think the OP is right about that, but completely wrong about the reasons. PLS DEVS WERE IZ 0.63, PLZ
  24. Mantasisg

    Hardcore in DayZ

Have you been in Czech republic during a "zombie" apocalypse ? Because you are very confident about how you claim. Also it is BS that it is easy to find loot, unless you play in some extre funky private server, but IDK if private servers can mess up with the loot system. I doubt that. It is easy for you because you might be the only one in the game who thinks that it is easy to find M4 or AK, while everyone is struggling to get even something like repeater or a shotgun together with ammo. I don't even know why I'm still here.
  25. Mantasisg

    Hardcore in DayZ

@SeizLex Don't play in empty servers, and you'll have your hardocre. I suspect that you are typical ghost, you loot the hell out in empty servers and then go to PVP and KOS in populated servers. Thats big issue of DayZ. I'm sorry but this thread is just so wrong in my view. Everything is wrong, from grammar to ideas and style. I can barely loot up in an hour. Rare loot actually makes the game way less hardcore than you wish. It ends up like that because majority of the players ends up just running from house to house most of the time, for an average player there is little gameplay focused on interactions and/or PVP, it is just running from one empty town, to other empty town. And by the end it is extremely unrewarding, because most likely will get owned anyway. Looting just takes too long man, exactly opposite from what you say. Of course you might have been skipping your English and literature classes mastering the 0.62 learning all the best lootspots, and now it is not hardcore for you. But I agree that the game is too safe. Thats mostly because of too little people and lacking interactions, or too big map. Lack of predators. Maybe some extra more scary zombies. Lack of mobility. Always beautiful weather whatever server I choose.... No loot also makes the game less hardcore. As for what is realistic ? The fact that you respawn is not realistic, what about that mmm ? It is a game. Designed by people. There are certain degrees of reasons for what is realsitic, and what is not. The map is full of military vehicles, military bases, zombies... naturally there has to be abandoned stuff all over the place, lots of guns and amo, plenty of abandoned property such as broken down vehicles... There are some free degrees for realsim, and the entertainment of this game also has to be considered. Ofcourse not by us, forum keyboard experts.
