After the collision algorithm gets stable which is a long process, it always needs to be supported by data. Now it’s in hand of our artists to rework geometry to the setup of the algorithm. With the amount of assets that DayZ uses (thousands), it takes months to prepare.

Aren't the geometry models and everything supposed to have already built collision data just like in every other game ?
Otherwise u would walk through buildings like a ghost or shoot invisible objects or through nothing, but seems like dayz has good collisions already.
So maybe you mean the programming of camera collisions is still in developement which actually looks decent already?  *good enough for first .63 exp*

  2. I just don't get how people got confused by it at all, it was all loud and clear that postoned = later etc..
And its obvious that .63 exp wont have all of the features..

No surprise people says "DayZ Standalone is Dead" or "DayZ Standalone is shit" not understanding its still WIP if they cant even understand obvious text message.

According to GameTracker between Epoch  and OverPoch there are 833 players right now... and thats just the first 25 listed servers.  On a Weds afternoon.    How many players are on Official Standalone servers right now ?  500 ?  maybe less?

And by the way how in the hell is base building / transportation NOT a top priority in a survival game?    The reason Standalone is dead is cause there is jack shit to do after you gear up.   you gear up, you walk around aimlessly,  you die... repeat.  There is no goal, there is nothing to work for.

For the last 5 years Standalone has been nothing more than a time sink deathmatch shooter with terribly inconvenient respawns.   Adding reloading animations, rag doll physics, new trees, and sickness dosent change anything.  Once you have treked up to NWAF and Tissy 50-ish times there is nothing to bring you back to this game.  Where is the content?  Things like sickness, environmental exposure, injury are all just FILLER  time sinks to make end game content more interesting........ the problem is there is NO END GAME CONTENT.

Well there's alot of truth in ur message, but no one ever said that dayz team works or worked on DayZ, they just developing the new engine which is required for all the new features that dayz will have including vehicles, base building etc and dropping them into the DayZ Standalone. ( mby like 20% working on dayz 80% on engine, if it was full force for dayz, the dayz would be like 1.3 now )
Actually there's also many dayz players on modded servers ( not visible to gametracker etc ) , today it was 3200~ players online at the same time.

Vehicles/Bases is top priority ofc, but im not sure if thats the easiest task for them, if they would add it to .63 experimental, then we would have to wait end of 2018 to test the .63 etc.

i cant help but notice that BASE BUILDING and VEHICLES  are not mentioned anywhere on that list....

This is why Dayz Standalone is DEAD.  This is why MORE people are still playing the MODS than Standalone.    No one gives a damn about Ladder Climbing, ..........................

Go play Arma 3 Exile.. Base Building and Vehicles wont revive this game, look at DayZ mods.. they're more dead than Standalone.. 200 players online.. okay max 350, but usually if you're lucky u can find 1 full server in Arma 3 even it has base building and working vehicles.

DayZ SA needs to be full survival game with all possible realistic features, Mod was fun 5years ago but it was always crap compared to what DayZ SA achieved with diseases and all that "unnecessary" stuff and no surprise why DayZ is dead atm. Standalone 1.0 is the last chance for DayZ..

  5. Postpone the Yellow ones! :D

Anyway that's whats left as i understood:

    Player Controller:
    Vaulting
    Jump

    Melee
    Evades
    Blocks

    Camera collisions

    Gameplay: pretty important ones
    Hit reactions
    Unconscious states
    Player Audio

AI: Postpone This Please for later .63 exp build.. Can take another 2-3 months + DayZ is not about zombies anyway for the most players.

    Stealth
    Advanced combat
    Expanded behaviour
    Improved movement

UI: These should be quick imo

    Character selection
    Options screen

It looks .63 is just around the corner, great progress :)

  6. Steam reviews is just pure trash talk, 50% are haters who blames dayz devs that they didn't released the game 4 years ago, second 40% is just old reviews ( when dayz had lots of bugs ) and rest 10% is just kids who always die in this game and has no idea how to use the compass so they cry in the reviews section.

I think when dayz hits Beta, Bohemia should contact steam for wiping all the reviews.

I just got this game today and so far I think it is great! I really love the simplicity and eight bit Style of the game, and I think it is a great alternative to the actual dayz. However, I think there is a lot of things needed in the game to greatly improve it. I tried to post a review on apple of the game but never saw it actually published so I just thought it would be a good idea to come here to have my voice hear. I’m just going to talk about some think in which I think would make the game so much more enjoyable to play. After reading this, I would like to hear from so other players on what their opinions of the game are.

First, they need to fix how much your clothes and gear gets damaged after being attacked. In the game the chances that you find a gun are slim and the chances you find the right ammo for the gun is even more slimmer. So because of this, you are forced to engage in hand to hand combat which means your equipment will be very damaged after this. I know you have the option of using duct tape and a sewing kit to repair your clothes but the odds of you coming across one of these is 1 in a million (just like the tents)!!! The whole game is a game of chance. Your find some great clothes but are forced to get into a melee battle with whatever. You kill a couple of zombies and guess what... The great pair of hunter pants you found is at 2%. Every time this happens, which is to much to count, you just want to cry!

Second, I think there needs to be a way to avoid combat to make scavenging in towns more efficient. Sure you can lure the zombies out from the town and run for two hours doing it, but that's takes way to long and usually does not work because most zombies catch you anyways. I think it would be a good idea if they add a sneak or crouch button or make a perk that makes it harder for zombies to spot you. In addition to the sneak option, the detection rate at night should be decreased so that zombies cant detect you that easily like you can not detect them. They should also add a huge crit bonus if you somehow manage to attack one from the back.

Third, there should be different game modes. I think that they need to add a different game mode that's let's you be able to respawn so that all the progress you may have had building a camp or base does not go to waste after dieing one time. I think this will make the game a lot more forgiving, and I would play the game more often because I would not rage quit after dieing on a world I spent 20 hrs on. I know some people like the challenge of the game, but some of us just want a more casual way to approach the game making it more enjoyable.

Forth, they need to make it easier to find tents and make it a lot easier to be able to store items. Right now if you want to store items, you need to find a tent which are extremely rare. I have been playing the came for 8 hours straight and in that time have not seen a single one. They might need to be crafted to get one, but I'm not sure if that's the case, although that would be a good feature. They really should make you able to craft storage bins or be able to store thing in preexisting houses and buildings. I think that all items picked up or dropped by your character should not disappear so you can find a good spot and drop all your items there to store them and come back to them later. Having a home to go back would relieve a lot of stress from the game. You would not worry about having to carry a bunch of unique med supplies with you the whole entire game which take up space that could be used for extra ammo WHICH IS DESPERATELY NEEDED!!! If u don’t have a gun say goodbye to your assault vest, hunter clothes, mountain pack, and helmet(duct tape hardly even spawns so don’t even think about repairing anything).

The last thing I think they should do is add a Bluetooth or online version so you can play with friends. This game has a lot of potential in being a good online game like the real DayZ. However, the odds of them being able to do this are very unlikely.

"First, they need to fix how much your clothes and gear gets damaged after being attacked."
That's in progress, you should've read the status report.

"Second, I think there needs to be a way to avoid combat to make scavenging in towns more efficient. Sure you can lure the zombies out from the town and run for two hours doing it, but that's takes way to long and usually does not work because most zombies catch you anyways."
Try to think.. *cough* lock em in the houses *cough*, on another hand its pretty easy to kill them + they have loot on them.
"make a perk that makes it harder for zombies to spot you."
    It's there.

"hird, there should be different game modes. I know some people like the challenge of the game, but some of us just want a more casual way to approach the game making it more enjoyable."
    Wait for modding.

    "    Forth,"

    Agree!

"  The last thing I think they should do is add a Bluetooth or online version so you can play with friends."
    What?

The new lighting seem a bit too bright for my taste, but it's still a WIP so I'm not too worried.

Are you nocturnal? Living only at night and sleeping at day? Cause it's not about your/our liking but about realism. I think the adjustements in DayZ is spot on, could be bit brighter ( especially brighter highlights from sun ), atleast on my "perfectly calibrated" IPS LED screen it still looks slightly on the dark side.

Reason? cuz some people and you think all chinese people are cheating?

If there's chinese ppl who knows about DayZ im pretty sure they can understand/read English and play this game.

  10. 2018 Q4 ( guess ).
I am not sure how much struggle DayZ devs going through since they do not tell any "technical" information understandable for game devs, but based on their progress for basic things its very slow.
Seems like they still aren't used to the "new engine".
The animated water achievement maybe is something huge for DayZ Engine, but it's just very basic thing that should've existed in the very first release.

DayZ Team also works on animations for like half year now, it's very long considering they have Mocap Studio and should be used and mastered the locomotions etc already.

That's exactly how i imagine the DayZ Dev Team even the category of work bit off :D :

    Bicycle:
This is a good middle ground for not having to run, but not having a vehicle either. The Bicycle can be introduced in a very simple way. By having a box named "BUILD YOUR BICYCLE TODAY!" spawn in industrial loot areas that players can pick up and then build a bicycle that they can use to ride inland (additional things could be added like having to have a toolbox to be able to build a bicycle). The bicycles will despawn after restart so that you do not end up with 99999 bikes. By adding this ,your player base will explore the map a lot more and will help by making the game less boring.
    Humanity:
Adding another element to the game is humanity. Now this system is a difficult one and for a developer team I know this is though, but its very very important as this is one of the things that made the core of the Dayz mod. My suggestion for this is as follow. You start with 0 humanity. When you shoot a player you lose a certain amount for example -500. When you shoot a player in self defense (They shot first) you then do not gain or lose any humanity. To gain humanity a new system needs to be added called "Shaking Hands". This is an option that players can get. When standing close to a other player you can scroll on them and say "shake hands". When both players do this within a certain amount of time you will gain a certain amount of humanity for example +500. You can only shake hands once with an specific player so that friends cant abuse the system. If you then shoot a player that you shook hands with you will lose double the humanity with -1000 for example.  The rest of the humanity topic will be discussed in the late game section.

    Bicycle:
    Build a bicycle? Really?
That could save some server/fps performance, but have u seen how DayZ SA looks like ? There's towns and stuff and irl in towns like that there's a bicycles on nearly every corner ( people ride to milk cows or go to work etc on daily basis ), so i imo they should be placed against a wall  of houses or dropped inside the house territories.

    Humanity:
That's totally not necessary, but another kind of Humanity system could be nice, like for example you interact with a person that has killed alot of people he could start shaking from slightly to moderately visually when he uses mic ( or even better: the voice Equalization could change similiar to an crazy person like even the person behind a mic talks normally but you hear him in random pitch ), so you could tell he's suspicious and could be a threat.

I don't like the idea of various random bs in DayZ SA like in these A3 DayZ mods, it needs to be a survival simulator, not some kind of "Grinding" Survival where u unlock traders by ur humanity points etc. Since it hits Beta the modding will be allowed and possible so maybe someone will make servers w/ Humanity system.

You got that right. Its also a matter of priority. Why spend so much time implementing it when itll have so little effect on the game other than visuals.

True, but if they plan to release ArmA 4 using current Enfusion engine, features like that should be added for maximum realism/simulation.
P.S. Spintires already did something like that.

yes but there is going to be more progress after a month than after a week.

Sure it will, but still people complaining that DayZ team didn't made any progress in fkn 4 years even actually they did ( but tbh could've been faster ).

  14. 1 minute ago, OliverPlotTwist said:

People complain about the lack of content in the Bi-weekly status reports. So I'm sure switching it to weekly status reports is a great idea...

If there's not much progress people will complain anyway no matter if its 1 month or 1 week.
Also the problem that most people don't take the "debuging", problem solving etc into account, if they do not see new weapons or other new visual things they gonna complain.

  15. 53 minutes ago, Gobbokirk said:

New one should be coming today, not sure if weekly are needed though, seems hard enough to get content for every 2 weeks.

Maybe when 0.63 hits EXP though, but then again we'll get updates on the patching then.

Well it doesn't make much difference imo if they post smaller report or huge one in 3 weeks.

  16. Hello, i've noticed the DayZ Dev team is being somewhat silent this year especially after claiming that "2018 is the year of DayZ" and there's literally no clues about what's going on so far if the experimental beta is far or close etc.

I think weekly Status Report could be great no matter if its long or short one just to give an idea how the progress is going.

Personally i was expecting .63 hit experimental this month considering it could've been available before the end of 2017 but being delayed for reasons.

  17. Grand Theft Auto V, Fallout 4.

Chernarus is a huge map, but it's not that complex ( 20% plain fields, 60% forests, 20% towns ), but very well made.
The thing is that Chernarus based on real life Czech which is alot harder to make, in games like GTA/Fallout most stuff can be just randomly generated and later adjusted/fixed.

  18. Could be Windows 10 new update related issues, after updating i had the same green blinking in CoD WW2, but somehow i fixed it without any effort.
Since you do not reply your PC specs etc i think you don't really care about ur issue or you've fixed it already.

    But make sure to:
Update Windows 10 to the latest build ( should have the fixes for the GPU issues )
Update the GPU Driver ( if nvidia - current latest driver is: 390.65 )
Make sure your GPU is not faulty or damaged, if its damaged or faulty it can work in other games just fine, DayZ eats lots of resources of GPU in the main screen ( run Unigine Heaven benchmark, if it's stable w/o issues during the whole benchmark then your GPU is fine ).

  19. Thats actually pretty good idea but would be extremely hard to implement imo especially if some decent looking animations required.
Considering DayZ development speed, climbing a tree development alone would take like 2years :D
