    Rendering Glitch in Berezino

    This is not a glitch, its called "Culling" which is used for optimization to get more fps, they just need to tweak it so its not that sensitive to that house. I saw it also in some other areas when peeking.

    Offline Campaign

    Would be cool to have some small/mid lenght Storyline in offline mode when the Beta launches basically just to show what you can do, like storyline/tutorial of showing all recipes all weapons all vehicles etc, how to use compass and so on. So new players could learn DayZ quickly making it easier for newbies who currently struggles alot, and maybe it would be fun just to play it when u have no internet and fight some AI enemies ( e.g. traveling w/ laptop etc ).

    DayZ likes GPU's the most ( opposite to the Arma 3 which is rly nice engine improvements on DayZ ), i have shitty CPU paired with hi-end GPU and dayz still runs perfectly fine, especially .63.

    They could act as "boosters", but later would develop addiction which means if you wont smoke ur stamina will be lower etc for some period of time till it resets if you go cold turkey, but if you continue, you will keep being "boosted" till the "boost" slowly decreases after each session to normal and later will cause death if continued ( e.g. 20h of gameplay ).

    If you were in DayZ world for real, i bet that would change ur mindset, however i think its hard to implement such things, because of various laws ( DayZ could get banned in some countries because of that, unless they know some approach to fix that e.g. the dying thing i've mentioned, most games has no drugs etc in it because it affects ppl in wrong way, but what if game shows the bad things about it, also giving some boost ? ). Even if you hate smoking so much, you would be healthy ingame! :D

    Hello everyone, i've seen that the scopes doesn't work/not available in current build, so i hope DayZ devs has something special for us. I personally would love to see 3D Scopes in the game such as in the EFT game. Maybe it's already confirmed? Im not really following the suggestions here.

    I think they must do it, because it's like new thing that every game soon will use and Bohemia don't want to look obsolete for such new engine. First game that used it was maybe Call of Duty: Ghosts ( but it was more like image overlay all blured like with alot of culling or something ) Also i've checked some tests from amateur devs and in some cases it can drop like 20-30fps when in ADS ( if i remember fine in dayz even with 2D scope it droped some fps ), but that also maybe depends alot on the GPU and it should be able to optimize.

    Its like 20k polys at most ( if optimized extremely well ), so basically the scope would be same as 2 additional zombies for the performance + in any way they will be in the game, but ye im not sure about the zooming etc. ( maybe when not in ADS it should not render the zoom ).

    Learn to play... I have only 300hours, but i am already master at surviving in dayz. The food is the smallest problem in the game, i find more food than i can carry. For noobs like you: find any weapon that can shoot ( mby even stick will work ) > run into random house with big windows > shoot to attract zombies > kill zombies through windows > you have tons of food.

    0.63 And Beyond - My Biggest Concerns

    In my opinion Raiding should be hardest thing to do ingame ( depends on base "Security level" i guess if there will be few ) and should take on average 10 hours for 1 person to get the tools ( way less if you're with vehicle and team ). For example to craft some charge for raiding there could be like 3 needed parts that spawns lets say only in Balota ( e.g. used to manufacture explosive powder ) and Tisy ( e.g. used to manufacture breaching charge parts ) and 3rd part/required gear to craft for example is somewhere in the Berezino. So players would have to move back and forth till they find what they need and it would spread players across the map also giving some "goal" in the game. Thing is that nobody gonna build bases if raiding will be easy, because whats the point to build it if all your base and loot will be stolen the next morning when you login? Imagine you are a squad of 20 people, you build a base for a month, you gather insanely large amounts of loot, and then some bambi finds ur base and steals it after looting few towns.

    Infected types/instances

    To the same topic, since dayz is not really scary or chilling ( besides firefights ) there could be some powerful "stalker" infected that appears near you when you least expect it, pretty much like jumpscares. Their type would be like humans who reacted totally different to the virus or whatever and they became more like on the primal level and their role would be basically watching you and creeping you out from time to time ( they should spawn rarely and maybe in forests/small towns only ), but once you spot it ( camera facing them ) they should start slowly walking towards you, ofcourse there should be a reason to be afraid of them, so if you try to kill them then you're pretty much screwed lets say killing them or hiting them would trigger another spawn of them that will try to KoS you with some bow or other improvised weapon, same if you come too close - they will attack.

Thing is that if you spawn them using the dev tools/commands they stay there where you spawned them ( they walk etc even if you dont see them and its being computed by some of ur PC hw, most likely CPU in short: you are running DayZ server and playing it using the same PC ). So technically if server will be running on decent PC such as dual Xeon, it should handle over 1000 or even 5000 zombies, and you would lose fps only if you see these hundreds of zombies when playing on separate PC ( since it would go hard on ur CPU/GPU, but the AI and everything would be computed by servers PC ), but if you're away from them it should be like they're not even there. In case if the servers PC starts to struggle, everyone on the server should have fps loss too ( same as server would be running on crappy PC ). Atleast thats how i understand it works.
  14. These textures are still obsolete, i think maybe even from 2013. Walls with displacement/tesselation would impact FPS alot, but beans ofcourse could have nicer models/texture maps. Able. Possible, you're doing it wrong.

I did similar test just with characters, but seems like since u're the Host u lose performance e.g. if you would travel to another side of map, u still would have big fps loss even ur CPU/GPU doesn't render the zombies anymore visually ( but seems like CPU still does the calculations for the AI being there, also explains why slight increase in the number makes ur go down more than 2x probs due to CPU or mby RAM bottleneck ). So if you was on a server with these 500+ zombies, i guess u would have alot better fps there. I've placed around 120 players with random gear in one small region, teleported like 10km away and i had ~30fps where i was supposed to have over 100 if the players was not spawned.

    So, what happened to Brian?

    Imo he left, because he's finished with his role for DayZ which means the plans for DayZ is already made and the rest team knows what to do and Brian went working for another project such as Arma 4 or even somewhere else mby another studio. It's like working as 3D Modeler, once the models are finished u are not needed anymore for that project. Correct me if im wrong.
  17. The .63 so far is awesome with little to no issues. Small bugs: - When running down from this building, the character sinks into the stairs for a sec ( visual glitch, character doesn't get stuck ). - After eating apple you have to wait few secs till u can put another one into the hand. - Zombies sometimes goes through walls as seen here ( edited it into little jumpscare ). https://youtu.be/gtoYgeDI-5U?t=38s - Some props such as wrecked cars is too small e.g. a small van is is about the height of characters chest. - Character customization is not working, there should be save option or something, no matter what i do it ends up as naked one and i still get random generated character. Issues ( not bugs ): - Animations for switching and picking/placing items not yet added, i dont think its that hard, sometimes its bit uncomfortable, because u have to check the hands if the character picked that item. - Stamina for sprinting is equal to obese overweight person. ( the concept of more weight = less max stamina is nice ). - Controls for Raise and ADS is pretty bad. My suggestion: HOLD RMB for Raise, scroll wheel down for ADS while holding RMB ( if there was scope w/ multiple zoom levels then scrolling down would zoom it more, also scrolling up to zoom out or release and click again RMB to reset to raise ). Shift for hold breath. Sometimes using ADS is risky especially in close quarters in buildings etc, so it should be the first aim mode, and using scope/iron sights is more for longer distance fights where u would also have more time to aim so it would be pretty natural imo. - Running with Raise should be available, but not ADS. - As everyone mentioned already the inventory is not really good. - Doors open in a realistic direction, but it pushes your character back and sometimes gets u stuck, i hope there will be some animation for the character to automatically walk away from the door as it opens ( in such way that someone from inside would be unable to shoot u during the animation ). Or just easy fix: Doors always opens the direction ure looking. - Loot should be where its supposed to be, not randomly on the ground, e.g. clothes could be on bed/near bed, food/weapons on shelves etc. Except these sheds and farm/industrial buildings. However it would look and feel nicer if the sheds had axes/other tools placed on the wall, but thats not necessary.

    Not really actually, it could be simply not so accurate e.g. like shooting AWP in counter strike. Because not able to run while weapon raised is not realistic also when zombies are chasing u have to pretty much stop into slow walk in order to shoot at them and then they will hit you 100%. But i get your point. And it already has disadvantages of using raise for shooting: https://i.gyazo.com/4dd7b28d50a769b3b6c472e407b021b9.mp4 Another good example is PUBG, the hip fire works, but is not so effective so it could be in DayZ especially with new reload system nobody will want to risk wasting their ammo, unless they have an AK/M4 or something.

    Holding mouse buttons and carpal tunnels ...

    I believe that holding buttons wont get u Carpal Tunnel Syndrome ( otherwise handwriting and most of standard jobs such as warehouse packaging handling would get u it too, but it doesn't ) It's more of the hand holding position that causes it, get a proper mousepad and keyboard's wrist rest and u should be fine. I had an carpal tunnel syndrome signs on my left hand ( electric sensation going through fingers etc, squezzing pains etc ). and it was caused by my wrist placed on the desk with average pressure against the table ( during intense gaming when i used mostly WSAD / Space ).

    Loot System

    Best solution: completely renewed loot in RnG way after server restart. In .62 it stays the same after restart, maybe only few items adds, but if before restart u found no weapons in NWAF, most likely same happens after restart.

    [Montage] Friendly "Stream Sniper"

    The idea was to join the same server as RayKit's and play along / troll a bit ( try to scare, leave items in unusual places in his way etc and ofc make the stream slightly more interesting and get his reactions ) but avoid the contact/firefight since being at massive advantage would be unfair in any way especially considering he's pretty new to DayZ SA ( moved from Arma DayZ ). Meawhile RayKit found some friendly people on that server and he was talking with them on Stream, what i heard surprised me, what are the odds? :D For these who are not interested in watching me running and gearing up skip to: 4:40

    Just checking in..

    Everything in every development is problematic and needs troubleshooting/problem solving. But i agree, DayZ devs uses the engine as excuse way too much. Also probs since its new engine the coders etc gets exhausted pretty fast due to various problems etc and goes into "lazy mode" and browses facebook or does something else instead, also as i know they dont get paid that much, so they also could lack motivation. If dayz made millions doesn't mean the devs got the millions, probs that money went to the CEO of bohemia and these employees gets standard monthly salary, no matter if they work hard or does bs. ( unless DayZ team is like separate part in Bohemia and they get paid from DayZ, but then i bet they wanted to finish it ASAP and enjoy the $ ).

Just checked it and seems like it uses all cores ( but sticks for around 50% overall usage, which is weird but also doesn't seem like it utilizes only 2 cores because it also jumps over 60-80% sometimes ) About the performance i have no idea, depends what they will do. In the Xbox there was clue for "locked doors", so removing some rooms from all these buildings could put alot less strain on the CPU and GPU combined especially in big towns ( in more linear games culling does the job by simply not rendering the geometry thats not visible but in DayZ i think its not the case, cause there's windows etc and u need to see interior/exterior from both sides ), so there could be some fps improvements and especially frametime improvements so the fps could be pretty much similar in any location of the map ( not like now in the open 120fps and in big towns 20-30fps :D with optimizations it would be more like 120 in open and 60ish in big towns ). They probs also can remodel many stuff reducing the poly count and optimizing everything ( similar like these trees was introduced, looks 10 times better and more dense - no fps loss and that's great optimization in these new models ( previous tree models probs was poorly optimized ). Server Side optimizations is confirmed, it can improve the performance too slighly ( i've noticed that sometimes in A server i have way more fps than in B server even the weather/time ingame is same and im in same location, same applies in some other games such as CS:GO ). I don't know the reasons why my CPU is around 50%, GPU is barely 40% and i have crappy fps, not sure if the optimization for hardware is bad but im pretty sure that my GPU is being bottlenecked. ( current specs: 980Ti / 2x8GB RAM 1.33Ghz / i5-2320 3.3Ghz ) Thats all mostly guessing ofcourse, would be nice to hear details from the devs itself about their optimization plans and why current performance is not so great especially the weird utilization ( but not that bad either ).
