I think you're overthinking how many mags I'm actually carrying.... I've got a 6+1 setup - 6 mags plus 1 in the weapon - for the AK. The other weapons don't take mags.... Further, 210rds is standard Infantry loadout for the US Army, though I always carried an extra mag in a pouch mounted upside-down on my back so I had a mag I could get to in prone without having to roll over and get to my front-loaded mags. So, I always carried 8 outside the wire, plus another six in my assault pack, but that's cuz I was a grenadier and needed room for extra grenades. Otherwise I'd have carried at least 10 in the pack. As for the shoulder slot, last I tried the stick slot is only for sticks, so one can only put one rifle up on the character's shoulder. Thus, if you carry an SKS and an AK, the 74u is optimal as it fits in the bag. Thus, you can empty your hands and get a bit more speed in your sprint... Unfortunately, it's like 4x3, and takes up a whole plop-load of slots because of it... Worse yet, if you've got just ONE item in that slot, your character will throw the weapon away instead of stowing it. I can't tell you how many times I've dropped my AK after juggling it and the compass through the inventory via hotkeys... But, that's a fairly unrelated problem... Also, the AK is my primary carbine. I'd love to carry a full-sized 74 so's I can mount an optic and all that jazz (haven't yet found an optic that fits the 74u), but the full-size doesn't fit in the bag. Dunno why, I can fit a whole bunch of my real rifles in my real bag... But, the AK is primary and the SKS is for long-range engagements and recon. I have since found some binocs, so I don't exactly need the SKS for recon, but it's really handy to have a rifle barrel under the stuff you're looking at really closely... After that, the Magnum is just there in the rare case I run out of all ammo.... With 210rds, it's pretty rare, but it's still possible... It's made far less possible with 210rds loaded up; I can blow through 2-3 mags and still have another 4-5 ready to go should I get into another firefight or zombie nest or wolf pack, before coming across more ammo... As for relying on people dropping ammo, that all depends on what kind of ammo you're using, and what kind of ammo your opponent was just sending your way... That's too much of a variable for me, tbh. It sure would be nice to pick up ammo off the dude you just iced, but I'm not going to bet my survival on someone having the same ammo type... Also, being out of ammo sucks... Also, I find weapons cleaning kits way abundant... I come across at least two every time I play... Sorta like leather repair kits; they're EVERYWHERE... :P And finally, it would be nifty if boonies could take a pile of 12g ammo, Vietnam-style in the webbing... A fish hook is pretty much worthless to me... Oh, PS.... THERE'S AN FAL IN THIS GAME!? How come no one told me!? D:

There is plenty of infrastructure in Chernarus, and there are always rich and poor in every country and every region. Surely someone in Chernarus had a katana... If not, they had some other sort of mostly-decorative long cutlery... Further, a usable sword (doesn't have to be glorious Nippon steel folded 1000 times, especially since today's general high-carbon steels are a world better than the steels of the olden days) isn't actually too terribly expensive; you can find plenty of usable tameshigiri katanas as low as USD$100, if you look in the right places.... If it's not an actual "made in Japan by a Japanese swordsmith" sword, the ONLY reasons you'll pay over $130 for a sword are for added pretty, better workmanship, and better brand name... SkyJiro makes BEAUTIFUL $3000 swords... In China... Not too far away from where Shinwa makes their $60 junk... ;) And the bulk of the reason why you pay so much for Japanese-made katanas is because it has to go through government paperwork in order to leave the country... That, mixed with the fact that it was source-made (sorta like if a Danish forge company started perfectly metallurgically recreating the Ulfberht and Denmark ruled said objects to be "cultural objects" and tax and monitor their export, etc)... Also, the hype and myth behind the katana helps a lot too... Further, "functional quality" can be as low as 1045 carbon, though I'd prefer around 1065, as it has a good high carbon content, but not too high as to make it a bit too brittle for making an undead re-dead... 1050-1080 katanas can be found quite plentifully, in fact... Really, the difference between a blade of 1045 and 1095 is just how long it'll hold an edge (95 will hold it better), deformation of cutting edge during hard object strikes (45 will bend/chip easier if it comes into contact with something hard like another steel or somesuch), and bending (95 will break, 45 will just deform and be bent).... Ideally, 1060-1080... And really, if you're in a zombie apocalypse situation, and you need to make zombie bits and all you got handy is a $30 "440 stainless" wall hanger, the wall hanger will most likely do the job... P.s. Before anyone jumps down my throat about "1095 doesn't break that easily cuz it's hard", let me clarify: I meant that 1095 is hard; it won't bend as easily as 1045.... BUT, should either piece of steel be bent to a specific angle, 1045 will be far more inclined to bend and deform, whereas 1095 will likely break... Yes, it'll deform too, but 45 will reach far more extreme angles without breaking... But, again, 45 will STAY at an angle if bent to that extreme... 95 will ultimately break at such an angle... Here's the thing: The harder a steel is, the more brittle it is... Meaning, it'll be stiffer and stronger compression-wise, but it'll ultimately shatter and break before it can bend... Softer steel, on the other hand, is less brittle; it will be far more inclined to bend and stay at that angle than it would to shatter and break... In fact, the reason many Japanese katanas have that wavy line on the blade is because they are "differentially hardened", meaning clay is applied to the blade to keep the spine cooler than the edge during a hardening process... Thus, it creates two ever-so-slightly grades of steel (hardened, and less-hardened), on just one piece of steel, and the result is a harder edge that will stay sharp longer, and a softer, springier edge, to allow more flexibility... The line, by the way, is called a "hamon"... Not sure if that has been shared yet, but that's how steel works. :)

Actually, the SKS-to-AKM modification requires fairly severe modification to the mag well section of the receiver and stock, as well as a few new parts... There are detachable magazines for the SKS, but they have a big funny nose on the front and aren't too terribly common because of said nose; makes it harder to put the mag in a pouch or bandoleer and quick-draw it later... These are actually what you're seeing when you see "detachable" SKS mags; NOT AKM mags... That, or just extended fixed mags. I don't mean to be rude, but you're mistaken; this mod isn't actually too common in the real world... As I recall, only the Chinese type D SKS was able to accept AKM mags from the factory (due to the receiver modification requirement, etc)... So it is indeed possible.... But as for a simple drop-in conversion kit, that simply doesn't exist... ;) Further, the SKS isn't an assault rifle; it's just a simple old-world carbine from the very last of the old-world carbines (i.e. it's an old-world carbine with a semi-auto system).... In-game, the SKS isn't an assault rifle; it's a sniper rifle, to add a bit of variety from the Mosin... It doesn't need detachable mags, in-game or not...

Quite literally, I mean "simply traveling"... As in, walking (or running) from point A to point B... As for the list of good info that was cut for brevity's sake: Bag - I have a 32-slot (I think) military backpack at the moment. I much prefer that to the makeshift bags, though I did wonder how those bags were made (tried burlap sack and sticks, but it did nothing. Didn't know you had to have the smaller bag first)... Deer stands - Actually, I usually hit the military bases and get mil clothing... I had some USMC woodland (haven't seen it again, have they removed it?) gear that gave me I think 8 slots in each... Unfortunately, .61 wiped characters, and the gear was gone forever... :( Guns - Actually, I find it quite manageable to keep an AKS-74u on me with a few mags in case I come into battle, a magnum and a handful of ammo (one stack is more than sufficient, and no need for mags), and an SKS with scope and such, again with a handful of ammo, for long-range engagements if need be, again no need for mags... I dislike how the 74u doesn't store on the shoulder like every other rifle, but it's not too big a deal... I do hate, however, the fact that you gotta be REALLY careful with pulling it out of your bag, because if you put it back and ONE thing went into your bag before your 74u, it'll throw the 74u on the ground because of the lack of free spots.... I lost a 74u complete with suppressor and full stacked magazine to the auto-sweep of the loot system this way... I like having a full combat loadout, so that means carrying 6-7 mags full of ammo, but even with just 2 or 3 mags, it seems bag space is super-precious.... Maybe I'm just too much of a packrat... Matches? - Nope, I haven't needed to make a fire yet... I mean, I have once or twice when respawning, but I've been noticing my character is almost always overheating recently... Maybe it's the fact that I'm covered head to toe with military gear... :P Knives? - Nope, I carry a hatchet (I know, eats up like 3 vertical slots), because it is the best zombie killing item in the game. 3 hits, and the zombie is down, and each hit makes them reel backward so they can't hit you (until the game mechanism barfs and they hit you five times within one second - not an exaggeration, btw, I died because of one zombie who was staggering backward but somehow managed to land five rapid-fire blows).... Better yet, it works just like any other bladed weapon, and doesn't like wearing out! :D I didn't know combat boots had a slot for combat knives... I did know some boots had a slot, but never really knew what it was for... I may now end up picking up a combat knife in the future... Speaking of mysterious gear slots, what is the boonie hat's slot for? ^ omg RIGHT!? Like when you take a step off of like one or two steps too soon, and you end up "chipping" your leg (whatever that means).... Or spraining your ankle... Or dying from a half a foot of height... I know why this game doesn't have a jump function; because players would be dying left and right simply hitting "jump"... :S

First off, thanks for the explanations... Next, where are you guys getting all this inventory space!? I can barely keep magazines and bullets and food items around, yet everyone seems to have unlimited bag slots... I don't have room for all these fix-it kits! D: Also, I seem to be having an issue with my pants getting ruined because they feel like getting ruined.... Do they get ripped up on brush or something? Because I can't even begin to count the number of times I've noticed my clothing got dull and crappy and "ruined" within a few minutes of simply traveling....

It's not impossible, especially in the bigger cities... Though I'd doubt they'd have a "real katana" as in a Japanese-made sword, but some cheaper Chinese or Russian made knockoff is not impossible.... Again, though, the only difference between a "real katana" and a modern Chinese or Russian copy is that the Chinese or Russian copy will most likely be made of better steel... ;) Yep, seems a useless addition, tbqh, especially with all the stuff they've yet to fix and tweak to perfection and etc...

>Coming soon to DayZ..... ^ This... Post-apocalypse, I'm leaving my recorded music items where they're at... It's just added bulk and crap. I'm not about to lug around a bunch of CDs and cassettes in hopes of finding a working CD/Cassette player... An MP3 player wouldn't be a terrible idea in a survival situation as creature comforts can boost morale and thus survivability of said situation, but practically-speaking, I'd rather bring a device that makes music, like a harmonica or jaw harp (I actually have a Vietnamese dan moi that I like playing in the sticks)... If I washed up on the beach of Chernarus tomorrow for realsies, though, and I came across music items, I'd most definitely pass them over for more practical items; food, first aid, water, guns, ammo, warmth, etc... As for radio stations, it might be neat to have some emergency broadcast in Russian, but seeing as how the only life you find in Day Z are zombies and people who are gonna kill you for luls, I doubt 96.5 The Heat is playing Led Zeppelin's greatest hits..... ;)

This sort of reminds me of the Ultima Online skill system... In that old game, something like lumberjacking would increase your chance to hit with bladed weapons (i.e. it would boost your swordsmanship stat) as I recall.... I don't know if I can agree with the necessity for it. I mean, we can already sprint for an unlimited amount of time (granted you don't try to sprint up an incline, and granted it hasn't changed since I last played)... Taking that away would only slow us down, and make travel even more of a pain in the stump.... Further, it would give a disadvantage to newer players... Even further still, I fear the skills would reset should the character die... Then you've got an Everquest situation on your hands, where players are killing themselves in real life because they just lost six months' worth of in-game work in a single instant because some #%*#!^%!# wanted to shoot them because reasons... No thanks... Instead of implementing these, I'd actually like to see a simple health/stamina/etc. bar first... Still, I honestly think the game could benefit from a crafting system not unlike UO's was back in the day, where you get recipes dependent upon the tier you're at skill-wise, and can see the materials needed, then go get them and make what you need to make... Instead of having to Google everything.... It would also be nice to have a "repair" function in the skill itself, so a highly-skilled tailor or gunsmith or something can return an item to "pristine" condition... Though, I'd advise keeping the fix-it pieces currently in the game, so as to offer people not skilled in whatever to be able to fix whatever they need to fix... I dunno, just thinking through my keyboard....

I think they need a bit better AI.... First time I ran into a wolf pack, I shot and killed one, then the rest of them stuck around and kept attacking, so I had to shoot and kill the rest... I think it'd be smarter to make them run away if you shoot at them or kill one of their pack members; it's only logical, and it would be more realistic wolf behavior... It would also be smart to have them attracted to the scent of blood; say you kill a deer or cow or you yourself are bleeding, wolves in the area should be attracted to the kill/blood, and should attack you if bleeding/dying.... Also, it would be nifty if they scavenged off player corpses too... But that might be a bit much.... :P I do like how they attack zombies, though... :D Also, I don't know if it's already possible (didn't have a knife on me at the time), but can we have dead wolves give crafting/eating materials? Wolf meat can be eaten (despite it most likely not tasting very good), and pelts can possibly be crafted into wearables...

Yeah, I know.... I just had to say something; combating katana myths MUST be done.... ^ This. My car is from Germany and my truck is from Japan, despite my living very near the geographic center of the North American continent... Yet we're to believe that Russia and Japan have never traded?? Or to believe that Russian cutlery makers, for the past few millennia since the discovery of steel, have never made a katana-shaped object? Still, though, katanas are just a sharpened bar of steel... The hatchet and machete would be more effective melee weapons and multipurpose tools... Plus, the katana wouldn't store in a bag, and would have to be carried on the back like the stick or long rifles... It would be an item that would get largely passed over for better, more modern multipurpose tools... It would make for some funny YouTube videos of people slugging it out with swords, but that's really the only use for them in the game.

The only thing I dislike about ammo is that most loose bullets only stack to 20 in one slot... I'd like to see loose ammo stack to 40... Also, ammo boxes should be able to hold a hundred rounds at least, such as making loose ammo stack to 40 or 60 or so in one stack; in the real world, ammo cans hold up to 500-600+ of loose ammo. Also, it would be nifty to make ammo boxes a crafting ingredient; I've seen them used for everything from decoration to cook stoves to motorcycle saddle bags, an intake scoop on a car (really, someone made a bird catcher out of an ammo box!), water storage, fire containers, small game traps, etc. etc. etc... Also, I'd have to agree that carrying a first aid kit is pretty much useless if it takes up four slots and only offers four slots and no stacking.... It means you have to open your first aid kit and take the bandages out in order to use the bandages, whereas if you have the bandages loose in your inventory, you can simply use your bandages.... In fact, I think you'd have to be a fool to keep your bandages in a first aid kit because of this... A further note on bandages: Can we have more clothing items that can be turned into rags!? I ran around bleeding to death one time, coming across plenty of things that could've been used as rags (including bandanas and such) that simply couldn't be torn into rags because of the game mechanics... Luckily, I came across a stack of rags in a coat and was able to patch myself up...

What clothing set/weapons would you add if you could?

^ I have to agree, a poncho would be nice for the rainy times. Even nicer if it draped over your bag and could keep your gear dry too... -
Steel = Iron + Carbon, possibly with impurities as well, depending on the timeframe, technology, and smelting/smithing method... So your "katana is folded steel and carbon" argument isn't really an argument; just an observation that steel is indeed an alloy of iron and carbon... Like I said above, any sword is simply a sharpened bar of steel. How you use it and the shape of that bar can vary, but katanas are NOT magic swords, regardless of how "real" they may be... Furthermore, Japan didn't have the best smithing practices back then; katanas were nothing special, metal-wise, and were just as brittle and carbon-laced and junky as any other open-smelted carbon steel sword of their respective eras.... Like 99% of the katana is myth brought on by the fact that ONLY samurai in good standing were legally allowed to own swords (katanas) in feudal Japan, thus leading the "common man" to make up stories of grandeur because they were dumb back then compared to today's basic knowledge (i.e. the fact that 99% of the world's population at that time didn't have much more understanding of science than a 3rd grader today, etc)...
-
ugh, no thanks... The "real katanas can cut through a thousand inches of bone and steel" crap needs to DIE already... In the end, any sword is just a sharpened bar of steel; it does NOT have magic cutting properties, regardless of how many times the metal was folded... It would be no different than the machete already in-game, except longer and two-handed... You're NOT going to run around the world slashing eight zombies in half at once because katana...

Bump! I agree... It would be really cool if we came across either a shoe polish or camo face paint kit, then on use of the item, it zooms to our face, gives us a color selector pallet (black or brown for shoe polish, black/brown/green for camo kit), and then gave us a "finger"-sized "brush" to camo our face with... Can do blotch, stripe, or whatever that way. :D Also, could have a pre-set design for blotch/stripe, for those who don't want to spend game time digitally smearing their faces with goop...

What clothing set/weapons would you add if you could?
t3h_kgb replied to SomeCallMeNomad (DayZ)'s topic in General Discussion
Probably suggested already, but: Clothing: -Multicams/OCP (OCP because Crye is a stickler on copyright infringement, but "OCP" is the US Army's near-multicam new camo, so calling it "US Army/OCP" or something would work. Also, same pocket count as USMC gear)... MCam top/bottom/gear/boonie/bandana or neck gaiter, would be nice... -Craftable ghillie suits, like you take a camo top/bottom and some rope or cordage, and combine it with a burlap sack (no plop, ghillie suits are made of a camo top/bottom, netting, and burlap strands in real life, made one in prep for Army Sniper School, but didn't get the slot, went to someone with more rank because favoritism was rampant in my unit at the time) and you get a ghillie suit. Would increase player's body heat moreso than regular top/bottom. Also, the more worn it gets, the more effective the camo... This is paramount to realism, if you're going to go realistic... The first like week and a half of US Army Sniper School is dedicated to breaking in your ghillie suit, for good reason... -BDU tops - I've yet to come across the top... Pretty sure it's in there if the bottoms are, but I've seen like a hundred bottoms and no tops... X) -Plate carriers with pouches... Say you equipped a plate carrier and you equipped a mag pouch to that carrier, you could put your mag in that pouch and when you hit "R" on an empty or nearly empty mag, your character would swap mags for the next fullest... Or if you had a regular pouch, you could put loose ammo or a stripper clip in there, and the character would reload a non-removable mag weapon, like the SKS, Magnum, or Mosin just by pressing "R"... Instead of just racking the action back and taking out the live round... Also, it would save you from three body shots (one Mosin or .308 shot), before you'd have to find new plates... Also, each pouch you equipped would increase the storage capacity of the plate carrier by 1-2 slots, depending on the pouch... You'd drag/drop the pouch onto the carrier, and it would bring up the carrier's front, and you'd select a chunk of MOLLE area (i.e. the front of the carrier) to attach and organize the pouch... -Also, as a plate carrier bonus, morale patches? :D -M65 jackets in more than just tan and green... Not sure if they exist in the game, but those are the only two I've come across... Yet M65's for realsies are available in just about any camo pattern you could want... -MOPP/CBRN-type clothing? We already have wellies and gas masks, why not CBRN tops/bottoms/gloves too? Would keep the character dry without being a high-vis raincoat... - Also, can we get bag liners? That way we can have dry gear during a rainstorm... Weapons: -VSS Vintorez - Should be really rare, same with the ammo and mags... Should take a player two months to dig up a Vintorez with enough mags and ammo for a full combat loadout... -FN FAL (sorry, FAL fanboy) -Mac 10 SMG (in .45acp, because bullet hose) :D -Ruger Mini-14's/Mini-30's. And yes, you DO need specific mags for them... Though, the AUG in-game eats STANAG mags, unlike real-world AUGs... :P -Can we have weapons at least sometimes spawn with mags? I've not yet seen a weapon spawn with its mag, but it would make more sense if sometimes they did... Maybe like two rounds and a mag inside a spawned weapon, to give the perception that whoever "dropped" it when they zombified was using it... -AR10 .308 AR's -Rem 700's, .308 and .223. -lever-action rifle, preferably in .357 Mag -M203 or East-Bloc equivalent 40mm 'nade launcher, super-rare, able to attach to AR/AK platform respectively... -An optic for the Krinkov (74U)... If there's one that fits the Krink, I haven't found it yet. Would be nice if we could get one, and if RDS's let us move a bit faster whilst in "aim" mode... After all, that's the whole benefit of a red-dot, is that it aids greatly in quick short-range target acquisition. -"spam cans"/"battle packs" of ammo - Where you can pick up a whole six-block spam can of like 200rds, say, but can ONLY take out ammo; can't put it back in, and ONLY one type comes out... Because spam cans aren't ammo cans. Ammo would come out 20rds at a time... Spam cans for east-bloc weapons, battle packs for NATO weapons... EDIT: Gear: -CamelBak/Hydration pouch-type thing... You can wear a camelbak under an assault pack, or strap it onto your gear (I'm talking about real life), thus if that was possible in-game, you could add like a liter pouch to your stuff without taking up inventory room like a canteen or PET bottle does... That's about all I can think of for now! :D -
So these have most likely been suggested before, but here goes: 1. Dying because reasons - I'm sick of dying because the game decided I should die... Quite literally, there I was in a building, I had found a nice SKS with scope, good camo, assault backpack, etc... I fall over "unconscious" for NO reason (wasn't cold/sick/hungry/thirsty/bleeding/etc., nobody around, nothing), just fell over and died... 2. Not being spawned next to the Denny's - Why is it that the very first thing I see on the screen, before anything is loaded, is "I'm hungry"!? And why does it take this guy five whopping minutes to die of hunger and thirst!? What is wrong with this guy's metabolism!? On any given fresh spawn, you're GUARANTEED to die at least 3-4 times before you miraculously stumble across some food... Good luck finding something to open it with, though!! The rule of two: 2 minutes, 2 days, 2 weeks - On average, you can go two minutes without oxygen, two days without water, two weeks without food... If you're going to have an apocalyptic survival game with semblances of realism, why is this so horrifically unrealistic? 3. There's no food East of Chernogorsk - Seriously, I'm convinced that there are NO food spawners East of Chernogorsk... 4. Being spawned on the coast... ALWAYS - No matter where you die, you are spawned on the coast... Worse, if you die with any sort of gear, you are automatically spawned as far away from your corpse as possible. Why? Because Day Z, that's why! I'm honestly surprised I was never spawned in the middle of the ocean.... 5. Spawned on an island - Thanks for that... The only time I find food right off the bat, and I'm spawned on an island... Hello, hypothermia!! 6. The new server menu sucks - But at least the time is still organized by time, and not by the binary icons shown on the server menu! So it's extra-hilarious to "sort by time" and see all moons on either end... Seriously, bring back the old server menu, this one is ugly and bulky and has no useful information... 7. I found a water bottle once... And a canteen... once..... - But those are spawns rarer than the gold god-mode crown... It keeps it extra-desperate, as you have to keep running around to all the wells in order to keep from dying... Which you're going to anyway... 8. Please spawn me in a downpour - Cuz I love guaranteed death... 9. It's not a game, it's a craps table with better graphics - Seriously, it's just like playing craps; you're never gonna come out ahead, and anyone who says they understand the game is lying through their teeth... There's no rhyme or reason to the game, it's all just one big crap-shoot... 10. Any time a zombie dies, it creates an impassable clipping wall - It's no fun to get stuck inside a building and have to change servers just to get past a zombie corpse... Honestly, why are corpses impassable? Why, when something dies, does it not lose its collision properties, or at least drop said properties to manageable? Like how you can step over firearms and clothes and other junk... 11. Collision detection - SERIOUSLY needs work... Doors especially. I can't even begin to count how many times I've been unable to get through an open doorway on the game... 12. The nifty fence-hopping thing sure is nifty - But why does it only work when it feels like it? Too many times I've been running against a fence smashing "v" repeatedly, having to back up and take another run or two at it before the character finally gets it... 13. The sun rises in the West, and sets in the South.... Honestly, which way does the sun travel in this game, and where is it in relation to the game world!? Are we south of the equator or north? Is this backwards-planet or something? It's SOOO difficult to navigate this game by any means other than roads and luck... 14. Seriously, stop spawning me in the Northeast corner - I spawned at this little fishing village probably 5 or 6 times in a row... One of those times, I decided to go the other way... Within 50yds, I was at the edge of the map. 15. There's absolutely no rhyme or reason to item spawns - Guns spawn in kitchens, medical supplies spawn in bathrooms, clothes spawn in shipping containers, and food, if you're lucky enough to find some, spawns in pants... 16. Only one in 250,000 bushes will have berries - It's so rare to find berries in bushes that it's actually a completely useless game function. Don't even bother stopping for those bushes, it won't save you from starving to death for the umpteenth time because Mr. Ultra-Mega-Super-Metabolism can't go two minutes without eating all the things... 17. Zombies still don't drop anything - It would be nice if you could at least snatch their clothes or something... No, there's nothing... Not a pen, not a fish hook, not a nothing... 18. Books - I'm glad I can thumb through Moby Dick whilst starving to death... Seriously, these are mostly useless... 19. What's wrong with the texture files? - My head texture never renders anymore; just turns black and void.. It looked kinda funny the first time, but it being an all-the-time bug, it's not funny anymore... Trees and shrubs also like to turn pink when the graphics engine forgets what texture files to use... 20. Why is it so hard to hit something that's right in front of you, that your axe just passed right through!? - Hit detection and collision SERIOUSLY need work... I want to love this game; I really do!! I am a huge STALKER fan, and this game sort of has that same feel; almost like where STALKER would've gone had the dev company not gone belly-up.... But it's so broken that I just simply cannot.... Now to fight Steam until I get my 35 dollars back...
-
1. Granted, I've not looked through the latest status update... Will do so... 2. I can understand spawning hungry, but why is my first order of business always to scramble to find as much food as possible, when there's none to be found? 3. I so don't believe you.... 4. So the character just boated in from spawn-land? I don't get why 90% of the spawns have to be in the northeast corner... 5. I found three mosins, a packet of powdered milk (the miraculous food spawn), a few jacket options (2 or 3 maybe), and a red or pink hard hat. No ammo, no tools, no bags, no nothing; just that. 6. That's a shame... This new one is horrid compared to the last one. 7. I've come across a jerry can or two, I figured there was gasoline in them, since jerry cans are for gasoline and I did manage to come across a car I could sit in... Also, they don't fit nicely in your inventory like a canteen or PET bottle does. As for crafting, I've not even been able to get that far yet... Too busy dying of hunger due to sheer lack of food spawns... But, I can tell you this much; crafting a "suppressor" out of a water bottle is silly... On anything bigger than .22lr, it won't last more than a round or two before being obliterated (and on something like a Mosin, you're basically just strapping a plastic confetti cannon to the front of your rifle), and won't stand to really muffle too terribly much sound... You're better off crafting a suppressor from PVC (for .22lr) or pipe steel (anything bigger).... Further, it was decided then, by game devs, to have thee most common piece of litter found in this world, be the most scarce piece of litter found in Chernarus, because homemade suppressor? 8. It would be different if I could find things... I don't know, maybe all the servers I've tried thusfar have been picked clean or something, but I'm finding a severe lack of stuff throughout the game, on every server I've been on... 9. It sure is... 10. You know how solids such as zombies and walls have collision parameters that make them impassable solids... Well, on far too many occasions, I've killed a zombie in either a narrow hallway or in a doorway, and have been unable to get past the corpse. The corpse is essentially too high to step over. To fix this, most games make corpses passable objects, where they have no collision properties, so players can pass right through the corpse. 11. See #1, but I figured I'd include this as collision seems to be a recurring theme with this game... 12. Not sure, I haven't checked my version; I rarely do, tbh... Dunno if Steam has updated us client-side yet or not, but I have the new server browser and I still can't get the character to jump over low fence-type objects most times... 13. I mean, the sun seems to have an erratic rise/set location. I got lost around Vybor area, trying to keep the sun to my right I ended up going west, then south, then east, all within an hour of play... Each time traveling with the sun to my right... The sun doesn't seem to hang or travel in this game like it does in the real world, at the very least not in the Northern hemisphere... 14. I did manage to spawn just outside of Balotta once... Was great... I thought I had the world by the 5th point of contact, until I couldn't find any food and starved to death.... Again.... 15. If there is, I've not seen it... But then, I see very little in the way of loot in this game. I dunno if I'm just always the last one through an area or what, but I find it exceedingly hard to find things... 16. Yes, only berry bushes have berries... But the possibility of finding a handful of berries in any given berry bush is approximately 3,720 to 1 (coincidentally, the same possibility of successfully navigating an asteroid field)... You'll starve to death before a berry patch will save you... Either that, or the character is just REALLY bad at finding berries in a bush... 17. I've hacked a good many up with axes and hatchets and crowbars and that SKS I found once and etc... I've yet to see any loot dropped, just empty cells... 18. Tinder for fires I can see... Notes to players? Why? almost 100% of players are going to kill you simply because you're also a player... To be honest, this game is best on low/no-pop servers... 19. Glad to hear I'm not the only one complaining about things... 20. I understand that the melee weapon travels through 3D space, and that the axe head has to hit the thing in order to count... But I've had a few instances now where my melee weapon passes right through the target with no effect... At least you guys are listening... That's a huge step up from most early-access games... :)

The new server list sucks compared to the old one... Like, REALLY sucks... It's big and bulky and ugly and gives no real information... Funnier yet is how the server time is now a binary display, but still organizes by actual time...
