  1. An idea i had in regards to body persistance that is, after you've been killed or died your body will de-spawn after 10 or so minutes removing all loot you once had on you. It's not really a great mechanic for balance as it removes the feeling of danger and the act of scavenging loot from dead players as most of the time their despawns before anyone can grab anything worth while. So the idea I had was instead of them outright de-spawning after 10 minutes, perhaps have them become a "rotted" state after 10 minutes, the loot items naturally degrade until ruined and then de-spawn allowing with the corpse. How would this occur you ask? To start with it would attract carrion animals such as Crows. A flock of crows would circle and gather around a body and peck at it for food, the resulting "pecking" would damage much of the loot inside the corpse until ruined and then the corpse itself would slowly disappear over a course of time. Since the likelyhood of your loot being heavily damaged after an attack is extremely likely, it's very possible much of it will de-spawn, be looted or be ruined by the time you return but at least some items may be salvalable. Crows are the first "Scavenger" animals I'd love to see in DayZ, perhaps in the future Wolves, Dogs and Bears could perhaps drag dead bodies to dens and nests (where it acts kind of like a dynamic tent spawning damaged/badly damaged loot)

Cut 12 gauge shells to make slugs

The above comment sums it up pretty well, majority of the time loading a "cut shell" into a pump or a semi-auto causes the weapon to potentially crack that shell open in the breech, causing a potential jam if you tried loading another shell from the tube. Alot of the time Cut shells are best used in a break action double or single barrel shotgun.

Time to get PIPSI (from the machine :OOOOOOO)

AND if you have the patience, you could also open the door with a Screwdriver for the silent approach (but it takes a while to open). In addition I'd love to see some kind of Snack Machine in addition to Drink Machines too if this ever gets implemented
  4. Personally I'd love to see something like a little paper leaflet which gives the basics of First Aid, nearly all First Aid Kits have them anyway

Cut 12 gauge shells to make slugs

As the video demonstrated, these "Cut" Shells would only be applicable in break action shotguns aka the Izh-43, as Pump and Semi-Auto's will jam when you use them. I can see them being useful in a pinch but I don't think they'd be a major priority, another video they have is Wax Slugs which takes relatively common "Birdshot" shells are converts them into Improvised Slugs using melted candle wax or glue

    Socks (no kidding)

Not mention I would imagine that with the foot damage system in DayZ currently, wearing shoes without socks would be really uncomfortable, if anyone has worn a wellie boot or a steel toe cap work boot without socks will testify they get uncomfortable quite quick. Plus it could lend itself to a layer mechanic perhaps, adding addition layers of clothing for warmth
  7. Something that I felt would be a good addition in the form of a firearm is the Vepr 5,45. Based on the RPK system, it is a semi-automatic rifle that fires the 5,45x39mm ammunition and I thought it would be a perfect fit for Chernarus, as it is primarily a Civilian Rifle that utilises a relatively common rifle cartridge. Now the VEPR does have a large amount of variants in terms of calibers from .223/5,56, 7,62x39, .308/7,62x51 and 7,62x54r. I went with the 5,45 caliber as we already have guns that fire those other calibers and 5,45 has been that sort of caliber which is exclusive to AK-74 series of weapons. It carries a 10 round magazine and can even use special 30 round magazines. Here's some images of it:

    AKS-74U & CR527 Spawn in Police Stations

Personally I think they should remove the MP5K from Police Stations and all its attachments to be a US Helicopter Crash Spawn. Not to mention with the inclusion of the Vz.61 Skorpion which deserves to go for Police Station spawns in its place. Additionally I do believe that Police Stations should have a very rare chance to spawn either an AK-74 or an AKS-74U. Magazines of course would be rare as hell though and you wouldn't find any attachments for them at a police station, AK attachments should stay at Military Locations.
  9. Overall I do believe there should be more dynamic events but there rarity should be rare for them to spawn depending on what events they are, ranging from common events to very rare events. Here's what I got starting with the most common to the most rare: Dead Survivor - The most common, consists of a dead survivor that is in the advance stages of decay or nothing but a pile of bones. Most of the gear is damaged/badly damaged. Firearms are almost completely ruined (but can still be scavenged for parts, ammo, magazines and attachments) Survivor Campsite - A collection of 5-7 Civilian Tents or shelters that spawn randomly in a city or in the forest. Comes in three variants, Abandonded, Destroyed and Infested. Abandonded offer very little loot, Destroyed offers loot that is damged or ruined while Infested spawns alot of loot but is generally heavily infested with the undead. Loot is always going to be Civilian loot. Fishing Boat - Randomly washed up on the shore or drifting out at sea. Spawns mostly Civilian Loot, ideal locations to find Flare Guns and Fishing Rods. Wrecked Police Car - Same as we have now, except possibly including a larger "Police V3S" variant which spawns more gear. Roadblock - Seen at random on various roads comes in two flavours, Police and Military, typically close to major cities / settlements. They spawn random vehicle wrecks with a small amount of civilian loot and often at the main checkpoint can also spawn police and military loot as well. Lets say 80% Civilian, 20% Police, 10% Military. Refugee Center - Randomly spawns in a small town or on the outskirts of a major city / settlement. Consists of an array of medical tents that spawn medical loot. Almost always considered infested or a biohazard area. Military Recon Campsite - Very similar to a Survivor campsite but is limited to around 3-4 tents and only spawning in forests, same variants as before, abandoned, destroyed and infested. Infested is always likely to be Military Zombies. Helicopter Crash Site - Pretty much what we have now except having a two new variants, a News Press Helicopter Crash and a Civilian Cargo Helicopter Crash. Both spawn Civilian Loot. Small Plane Crash - A small plane crash, mostly commonly found at Airports or runways. Almost always spawn civilian loot and spare vehicle parts. Commerical Plane Crash - A rare event than can only appear three times in the world. Consists of a Commerical Passenger Plane that has crashed somewhere on Chernarus. Almost always spawns Civilian Loot in usually low states of damage, no firearms, just food, medicine and clothes and some basic tools. Supply Crate - Comes in two types, Military and Humanitarian Aid. Only the Military Supply Crate remains locked, requiring specialist tools to open which will given players ALOT of military type gear (it's considered a container so it doesn't spawn on the ground). Humanitarian Aid Crates are always unlocked and have large amounts of food and survival supplies. They have a large parachute next to them which can also be scavenged for materials. Military Plane Crash - A very rare event that only spawns once in the map in a random location. Military Plane Crashes will offer Military Loot in random states of damage. They will also drop vehicle parts. Abandoned Ships - Comes in three types, Civilian Tanker, Cruise Ship and Naval Frigate. The Naval Frigate is the rarest event with the other two being similar to the Commerical Plane Crash, spawning randomly near the coast or somewhere out at sea. Civilian Tanker and Cruise Ship spawn mostly civilian gear and food (sometimes weapons too of low grade) and Naval Frigate will always spawn military gear.

    Police Kevlar Vest

Overall I think that Kevlar Vests should spawn in Police Stations as far as I'm aware the only one I've found in a police station is the Stab Vest (which offers a high bleed resistance to melee attacks but is useless versus firearms). Police Stations should actively spawn: Stab Vests - Protects against Blades Riot Armor - Protects against Blunt Impacts Grade IIA and Grade II Kevlar Armor - Protects against small caliber weapons (.22LR, .380 ACP and 9mm) Additionally I think that perhaps the dev's should implement a kind of surplus flak jacket, great against explosive shrapnel but offers minimal protection to bullets without a plate.

    Scorpion Too Big

I'd say if they make this available for the Scorpion, it should also be available for guns that can feature Folding Stocks to reduce their size. For example a player could remove a stock of an AKM/AK-74 for a folding stock but the negative of doing so is increased recoil. Even with a folding stock equipped you would still get an increase in recoil compared to when it had a full stock, this would be the active trade off. This would give alot of the attachments more meaning than just being cosemetic. But yes overall I do believe the Scorpion needs to be rezised to something smaller. I also thought about what if the Skorpion also had two magazine types, a 10 round and a 20 round.

    Civilian semi-auto rifles

I highly support the OP's original Semi-Auto Civilian Rifles, such as the Ruger Mini-14 and Vepr 5,45. I do believe that the Mini14 should take 10, 20 rnd magazines and possibly have attachment options in form of pistol grips and stocks. As for people wanting AR-15's and higher caliber Hunting Rifles perhaps these might be interesting to add: Remington 750 Forester Remington R25 Bushmaster Predator High Standard AR-15A2 All four require magazines to be 100% effectiveThe R25 and 750 are chambered in .308 Winchester with 4 and 5 round magazine capacities respectivelyThe Bushmaster Predator and the High Standard AR-15A2 are chambered in .223/5,56mmThe Predator and the R25 do not have iron sights so they NEED a sight to use effectively past 50m, however they are equipped with Pictanny Rails so most M4 optics will work with themThe Bushmaster Predator can only accept M4 Sights and not stocks or fore endsFor the sake of Balance, perhaps only have 5 round magazines spawn for the R25 and Bushmaster PredatorThe AR15A2 would be balanced against the M4A1 by having a fixed carry handle and stock so M4A1 attachments are NOT interchangable with the weapon BUT it can be use almost all of the STANAG type magazines. Perhaps a unique scope which can be attached to the carry handle could exist.

    Mil Surp weapons for civilians

The talk of Machine Guns interests me alot especially for DayZ but while there is alot of talk about the more lighter potentially man portable Machine Guns, what would be many people's responses to a larger Heavy Machine Gun that is vehicle mounted? Of course the most common suggestion for these HMG's would be the Soviet DShk and the American Browning M2 which are seen practically everywhere. We probably wont see them until very late in development if at all, likely when we have Helicopters and Aircraft as well as heavier vehicles and potentially improvised armored vehicles we COULD see them, I'd certainly like them to be included, seems strange you wouldn't find one around. As for the other Milsurp weapons, I'm all for a Kar98 I do understand that "Sporterised" Kar98's exist and more often in common calibers like .308 and more over I wouldn't put it past the dev's to add in a new caliber once they've added some more dangerous wildlife like bears for example

Huge Cargo plane and big airport

I couldn't agree more, we need more static plane wrecks in the game, currently the only I know of is the crashed Airliner in Chernogorsk. More Military and Civilian plane wrecks are a must, while many I believe will not be able to fly, they can be extremely useful in scavenging spare parts for air vehicles and could for the example of Cargo planes house a mix of civilian and military loot. The largest Military Cargo Plane is a C-5 Galaxy, next I would presume is a more appropriate Antonov An-225 Mriya, possible we could even see a more common C-130 Hercules too. One thing that would be a good thing is being able to climb up one of the wings (one of the reasons why it's a wreck)

    A list of suggestions/Additions

Because I didn't want to clutter the forum with thread ideas I'll just make this thread to list a variety of basic additions for DayZ standalone. Military Raincoat Variations (4 Slot camouflaged Raincoat Variations that spawn in Military Locations)Military Poncho, variation of a Raincoat that is a layer over all existing clothing items on a player with no slots (but preventing access to other slots when worn)Trench Coat, a thick leather trench coat with two slots, acts in a same way to the Poncho, is worn over existing clothing.Civilian Camouflaged Raincoats (in patterns such as Sky Blue, Bluerock, RedPunk, Fire, Red Squares, Snow Pattern, Bracken and DPM)Civilian variant of the M65 Field Jacket, a Faux copy of the M65 with a reduced storage space of 4 slots (over the originals 8)Addition of a "Flight Jacket" or "Flight Jacket with fur lining", same as Riders Jacket, 4x1 inventory slots.Alternative Riders Jacket (with brown or grey leather)A rare Residential/Civilian Jacket that has 6 slots, a Hunters Jacket for example (sharing similar camo patterns to the Hunter Pants)One piece, complete body clothing such as Boiler Suits/Overalls, Wet Suits and NBC rated HAZMAT Cleansuits (in Red, White, Yellow, Green, Orange)Allowing Military Boots to store other knives, tools and weapons (such as the Screwdriver, Kitchen Knife, Steak Knife, Hunting Knife and Derringer)Reintroducing the Grass Wrap and Burlap Wrap (as a less effective camo to the Ghillie Gun Wrap)Using Spray paint as a less-lethal weapon (blind foes temporarily, induces blurring of the screen with the colour of the spraypaint)Re-adding the "Down Jacket" as the "Thick Quilted Jacket", reducing it's storage space to 2x2 instead of 3x3 inside a backpackAddition of a Paramedic Bag (a larger version of a First Aid Kit, found only in Hospitals, spawns blood bags and Saline Kits)Addition of a Military Medic Bag (same as the Paramedic bag but is a rare spawn in Military Medical Tents)Addition of Toolboxes found in Industrial Locations and Fishing Tackle Boxes found in Resident/Civilian/Boats. Both can store random items, Toolbox is an 8 slot and fishing tackle box is a 6 slot.A modern composite fishing rod with fishing reel and line.A school Lunchbox, a small tin box, holds 4 slots.Office type clothes, we already have leather shoes, what about Office Pants, Office Shirt, Office JacketArmbands should be able to store items such as bandages, knives, glowsticks (even activated ones)Road Flares should be able to light fires even in rainy conditions

    Bark Bowls!

So an idea I had about the concept of cooking pots and natural crafting was the idea around Bark Bowls. These can be made from Birch Bark. The way I see it, you can cut out a piece of bark from a birch tree and with some work you can craft a birch bark bowl with maybe an ashwood stick or some regular sticks like in the video. This can be used as a makeshift cooking pot, it will be made ruined very quickly after only a few uses but allows you to cook at least a few pieces of meat on a fire with a stone oven or even a cooking tripod.

5.56 Bolt action rifle (Remington 700)

For a .223/5,56 type rifle a bolt action is something I'd like but a somewhat accurate depicting semi-auto that isn't just an AR-15 would also be acceptable. But if the Dev's ever considered adding in another civilian type caliber I might suggest .243 Winchester or .270 Winchester. Significantly more powerful than the .223/5,56 but still plenty accurate with a high velocity. For the Bolt Action I would go for a Remington Model 7 in .223, 5 round integral magazine. As for the Semi-auto, everyone seems quick to want an AR-15, but why not a Ruger Mini-14? The one featured below is the Ranch rifle version with a 10 round detachable magazine but also features magazine options in the form of 20 and even 30 round magazines. while not quite as modular as the AR-15 types, they can still accept a variety of options with enough modification. Might even be possible to feature the Ruger Mini-30 in 7,62x39mm.

    Working cellphones

I wouldn't mind finding Cellphones in-game, maybe as a filler or just junk items that you can find in homes, not much reason to use 'em than to browse past text messages, call history and perhaps play some idle simple games like tetris or snake but once the battery dies thats it, no longer useful.. Perhaps in the future they could be added in some form like crafting a noisemaker or a bomb of some sort.

ChDKZ Rebels, Terrorist and criminal hideouts.

A while back I believe I posted a thread with a similar theme, except it was more along the lines of finding guns in unlikely spots, in a similar vein to Helicopter Crash Sites. They would spawn weapons you wouldn't normally come across, like older weapons like the PPSh-41, TT-33 and maybe even some older world war (from World War 2 and Vietnam) surplus like M16A1's, MAC-10's, Thompsons and M40's. http://forums.dayzgame.com/index.php?/topic/220735-a-new-loot-location-rebel-caches/

    Make explosive arrows with ammo

Personally I'd be more inclined for the inclusion of Fire Arrows by wrapping a fuel soaked rag in cloth. Alternatively different arrow heads that do different levels of damage, such as Glass, Scrap Metal, hardened Plastics. Explosive Arrows are a bit far fetched for me honestly, as a noise maker it's fine but hardly useful for a defense. Unless you were to literally put like a 1/4 stick of dynamite to the end of an arrow and fire it (which with the added front weight would likely make it tumble and loose distance extremely quickly).

    Trashbag+Rope = Trashbackpack

I really like the ideas of fashioning home-made backpacks from everyday materials. I once made a backpack myself using a pair of old jeans (although the jeans were ruined afterwards) and a T-Shirt, couldn't hold much but basic essentials but it worked. Trashbags could also be used as a form of an improvised rain jacket. You'd look stupid wearing one but at least you'll be dry
  22. Draco122

    Medical box

I do think in terms of Medical Containers we need something like a hardened steel case or a plastic box instead of the soft bag we usually get. It would be like the protector case but designed soley for medical items.

Making The CR-527 A More Viable Rifle

Since 0.56 allows you to remove the Scope from the Longhorn, perhaps that could be attached to the CR527, it is afterall a Carbine and while a longer ranged Hunting Scope wouldn't be too bad either, it's something to consider. Additionally I also like the idea of a slightly rarer 10 round magazine for the CR527 once the Rifle to magazine ratio is fixed. I do believe it has been said that the dev's are toying with the idea of weapons spawning with magazines pre-attached like how some Scopes are in 0.56 (but again from what I've read, it'll be limited to "basic" magazines with the majority being unloaded and only a handful carrying a partially loaded magazine) In all, I think the CR527 would be fine with these set of items: Pistol/Longhorn Scope CompatibilityHunting Scope Compatibility5 Round Magazine10 Round MagazineBottle Suppressor
  24. Something I've always loved about was the idea of "concealable" weaponry, ie weapons stashed away on your person where someone might not look for. To give derringers something of a little extra lee-way and strength in their use, I think it would be awesome if you were able to stash a Derringer inside Military Boots. They can store a Combat Knife (which is a 2 slot item), so why not other 2 slot items such as the Derringer?

    revamp feet damage

Overall I think the feet system needs a better interpretation with certain footwear, like not all footwear is gonna be comfortable to wear over long periods. Wellies for example will keep you feet dry almost 100% of the time (in lets say ankle deep water) but they can cause you feet to be very uncomfortable after a length of time. Certain Military boots can also be uncomfortable to wear and increase the chance of blisters after a length of time. I don't think it should be to an extent of what you have though, for example I'm fine with getting blisters (which lead to an infection if left untreated). Foot Trauma should be based on fall damage or damage done to the feet by direct physical force and not simply by running.
