Yes, I agree with this. Maybe when they release the Chainsaw my dreams of becoming the Resident Evil 4 Chainsaw man will be made xD

It's one of the more rarer guns I just have not seen at all in DayZ in my play sessions (only really seeing it in videos) and yet to find it only spawns at Crash sites perplexes me as this gun fits more in-tune with the whole eastern european theme. So I ask, do you think that the PM-73 should spawn inside police stations instead of crashsites?
-
Going with what you say and from what I understand, the PM-73 comes with two types of magazines in-game, a 15 round and a 25 round. Perhaps the 15 round magazine should spawn in Police Stations with a rare chance of the 25 spawning and perhaps with the 25 round magazine being more prolifent at Eastern Crash sites. Just a thought.

On Skalisty I would imagine mostly Rabbits would be on the Island nothing more than maybe a small number of Deers and hogs perhaps but I imagine it would be a prime fishing location.

Forest stations otherwise known as "Ranger" stations
Draco122 replied to Redstar Payne's topic in Suggestions
Slightly reviving this topic because I genuiley believe that their should be more in terms of "Ranger Stations" in the Chernarussian countryside. For example, Ranger stations would spawn a mix of civilian grade and low grade military loot. Mostly Civilian weapons would spawn here such as Shotguns, Hunting Rifles and Pistols while low grade military gear such as clothing and backpacks would also spawn. Maybe even some unique "Ranger" gear as well, some of which I'm already working on plans for. But some examples of some "Ranger" esque buildings for the future: Relief Shelters - These buildings primarily are small to medium sized and house a decent amount of civilian grade loot (such as hunter pants, Jackets and backpacks) while also providing shelter and warmth for weary travelers. They are often located deep within forest areas for those rangers on long treks to provide relief stops on long journeys. They are often only reachable on foot. Ranger Station - These larger buildings act as outposts for Rangers on Chernarus, they spawn a decent amount of civilian loot and some low grade military loot Ranger HQ - A unique building (which i honestly think DayZ needs more of in general) is the Ranger HQ, the largest building located far up north is the central command base for Chernarussian Rangers. It provides the high concerntration of loot. -
Granted the MP5K is not a "special" weapon by any means nor is the AK-101 or the M4A1 but when I come across a helicopter crash site, normally I'd like to think they were apart of a special forces recon team sent by a western country to "observe" the devastation of Chernarus after the Zombie apocalypse and that they'd be armed with some typically high grade weapons, the MP5K being a popular choice for Special Forces and even Air crews like you said for it's compactness and modularity. To be honest I would expect the Chernarus Police Force to use PM-73's as their designated sub-machine gun or going so far to use an AKS-74U when things required that little extra firepower.
-
This I can agree with, in general I believe some weapons should spawn soley at crash sites, the MP5K being one of them alongside the AK-101, M4A1 and the soon to be released Steyr AUG. Plus I'm pretty sure .380 Auto ammunition spawns most frequently in Police Stations from what I gather so it would be more plausible for it to spawn there.

Alternatively, you could go a step even simpler and just make a sling using some rope: A video from Chivlary (perhaps not as gorey but the idea is still there)

I could see a Thermos added in being a great way to store hot foods when cooking is properly implemented. I could see cooking a can of soup and storing it inside a thermos for an instant warm beverage, hopefully they add Tea and Coffee too that we could make

Something that I think we need more of in DayZ is more Junk items, some more for flavour, others for an indirect use for crafting. Things such as these: Tin Cans (of varying sizes) and Soda Cans for use in crafting Examples of Crafting Recipes with Cans: Oil Lamp Improvised Stove Arrowheads (taken apart using a knife or hammer) Improvised GrenadesGlass and Plastic Bottles - Besides being used as a water container, Glass Bottles can be thrown as a distraction or broken to use the glass shards as arrowheads. 2x4 Timber, Wooden Plank - Alternatives for melee weapons, possibly implementation of modifiying with nails etc Metal Pipes (of varying quality from lead, steel, iron, copper, aluminium, rusty) - Alternatives for Melee weapons, could also be used to make an improvised frame for backpacks. Cardboard and small wooden boxes Box of Nails - Can be used for crafting such a Nailed Bats, Timbers and Planks Barbed Wire - Can be used for crafting such a Nailed Bats, Timbers and Planks Length of Chain Jewelry - Could be melted down in a pot to make something with the correct molds, home-made shotgun slugs for example Money (Coins, Bank Notes) - Banks notes and paper money can be used as improvised fire kindling, Coins could be used as Distractions or be melted down into something

The Community's List of Suggested Weapons for Dayz Standalone (Version: 1.29)
Draco122 replied to alexeistukov's topic in Suggestions
Just something I'm surprised this game hasn't got in terms of melee weapons is the simple Metal Pipe, whether it be Iron, Steel, Lead or even the weaker copper and aluminum. Could be a useful material too in crafting with the right materials! Could come in different sizes too, from one handed to two handed even. -
I don't think it should warm the whole house, just the room your in but the rest is good! More over it'd be nice if you could even cook your own food using the stove should you have a pot or something

Something that i think will go great in the mod and also go well with the disease mechanic is basic hygiene. This being wearing gloves while using dirty (or diseased) items or handling raw food and washing your hands and face (of blood or mud). Just the basic's really, nothing too extreme like a full body wash or even going so far as to keep basic dental health like that. Like for example, when ever they implement looting of Zombies they should make it very possible to contract a disease when even just checking the Zombie Inventory but in a way that if you eat anything or perform something in terms of treating wounds without first washing your hands or wearing disposable gloves you run the risk of catching said disease.
-
As well as gutting an animal corpse, wearing gloves should allow you to further reduce chances of infection without the need to wash afterwards

Just something I've never really come across in DayZ is the topic of Insects. Insects as a whole is an interesting niche, especially the context of disease and survival. For example, alot of Survival books do say that in an emergency, certain insects make great sources of food, high in protien and such. A good example often taught by survival experts are Ants, specifically the eggs. While only small (you'd need alot to stay nourished) it's something that could quench hunger in an emergency. Insects could also become a more varied option for fishing bait, maggots, caterpillars, beetles etc are such things that could be used. Then it bought me onto the idea of "hostile" or "pest" based insects that would harm the player in someway, for example Wasps, Hornets and Bee's. With all of these abandonded houses you'd think they'd be ripe with pests such as these or even just hanging in some tree. I thought what if you investigated a random house, then kept hearing this "buzzing" noise, eventually you'd get stung out of now where and realise theirs a wasps nest in the corner of the room. They can be destroyed, at the risk of running a swarm (which will kill you if you stay in there for too long) and you can salvage the nest for food or even fishing bait. Bee's would be the best source for this as they'd provide food and survival items, while Wasps and even Hornets provide only a survival bonus in fishing bait. Hornets are even more dangerous than wasps, because their sting is even more potent. It even brings on other insects such as mosquitoes and flees or other dieseae carrying bugs and even introducing items which repel insect bites or treat them.

I kinda posted something in response to this, in terms of performing basic hygiene to prevent or reduce the risk of catching a disease or infection when looting zombies or old corpses. http://forums.dayzgame.com/index.php?/topic/214055-basic-hygiene/

I'd also like an addition to be made where you can plop a Pumpkin on someone as a hat

I like this, I'd think it's best to have three types, all three with varying effects, for example: Rock Salt - Essentially a less-lethal Buckshot with cubes of Salt acting as pellets, they do little damage but cause the inflicted person to experience agonizing pain.Rubber Slug - Essentially a low-grade form of a less lethal ammo type, at close range these can potentially kill with a headshot but at ranges at 30-40 meters they can easily knock some down or out.Bean Bags - What is now accepted today by Police as a less-lethal ammunition for shotguns, fires typically a bag full of a metal powder.
-
I should imagine to balance them amongst other articles of clothing "overalls" should cover both top and bottom layers of clothing

Some traps I could see are small traps used for hunting small animals such as Rabbits and Chickens. I think somewhere in the game files or even mentioned by a dev prior that Snares for small animals might be a possibility by finding wire and some wooden sticks. I wouldn't rule out Grenade Traps completely, personally I would think that in order to make a grenade trap you'd have to rig a door or place a tripwire across an open door. If it's a tripwire, using something like a rope is easily gonna be fairly noticeable while wire or fishing line is a better bet for a tripwire. For booby trapping a door, perhaps allow the grenade safety lever to make a loud ping when a player opens a door, at least signify that the door is infact boobytrapped. Early warning systems are always nice, perhaps tying a trip wire to a road flare, Flashbang or even a Smoke Grenade are ideal warning systems/distractions? As a landmine no, this wouldn't work, any shot would just be directed further into the ground if done so. HOWEVER, it does bring out an element for an old trap called a Spring Gun. Best example I could show is in Metro 2033 Simply put, it's a shot shell, loaded into a small pipe, attached with a spring, a firing pin (such as a nail) and attached to a wire or piece of string, once trigged, it fires a shot into an unsuspecting victim and depending on the height, determines how much damage is inflicted.

How is it that with all the clothing options currently in-game we haven't any Sweaters? Sweaters, otherwise known as pullovers, cardigans, turtle-necks and so on is something I would've thought would have been extremely common in an area like Chernarus. We may have the hoodie but with the recent release of tempreture and so on it would be ideal to have some form of clothing item that can be worn to keep your warm.

Overall I think that servers should have an option for random starting gear, each item of clothing and equipment having a percentage chance to spawn with it. I don't think any "new" starting gear should possess any form of weapons or tactical military clothing, weighing it up against clothing you'd normally not see people wearing in most DayZ servers. In addition most of the clothing and equipment you could spawn with should have varying damage states. Some examples for spawnable items: Clothing Bandana Baseball Cap Beanie Hat Flat Cap Rader Cap Ushanka Respirator Down Jacket - More frequently should spawn in a damage/badly damage state. Wool Coat - Rare Chance Shirt T-Shirt Hoodie - Spawn with at a Rare chance Tracksuit Jacket Canvas Pants Tracksuit Pants Atheltic Shoes Jogging Shoes Leather Shoes WelliesEquipment PenPaperBurlap Sack - Rare Chance to spawnRope - Rare Chance to SpawnWooden StickSpraypaintDuct TapeGas Canister

Hobo Stove - An improvised cooking stove made from the following: Empty Tin Can + Screwdriver/Knife = Empty Hobo Stove Empty Hobo Stove + Rags/Wooden Sticks = Full Hobo Stove Uses Matches to Light Improvised Oil Lamp - An oil lamp using alcohol or used cooking oil as a fuel source. Combine the following in this order: Empty Tin Can + Screwdriver/Knife = Empty Oil Lamp Base Fuel Source + Empty Oil Lamp Base = Full Oil Lamp Base Cloth Rag + Full Oil Lamp Base = Full Oil Lamp Uses matches to turn on and off

I think personally you shouldn't be able to light your captured subject with matches alone, I think you'd first need to douse them in fuel from a jerry can first then light them. As some have pointed out, most living things won't burn instantly when lit with matches so you'd likely need a catalyst, in this case some fuel or even high proof alcohol. In addition, it opens up a new damage type "Burns". Burn damage itself would depend on the severity, it could hold similar functions to a broken leg or arm if affecting the limbs, it could effect eyesight, stamina (in case of poisoning from toxic fumes) as well as constant pain effects. It could also effect the wearing of certain clothes, causing your character to moan or groan in pain. First you'd first need to find out what burn you've got then finding the suitable treatment options to heal it. It opens up myriad of medical treating applications that the player could perform. For example, a first degree burn is easily solved with a damp rag or soaked in cold water. Second degree burns require the same treatment, albeit with purified water to avoid infection or using topical creams. Third degree burns, the most severe require a more specialist treatment, one that is only able to be done with a select amount of equipment on hand. You could find topical burn ointments in clinics and hospitals, utilize natural flora and fauna, home-made medical remedies and even certain food items (Honey is a great burn treatment)
