I do appreciate that however with the latest patch its gotten difficult for me to make care packages reliably (as you cant stuff items inside a backpack and store them in another backpack). So largely I'm reduced now to dropping individual supplies, I can do this to a point by using protector cases but I almost never find them so I've had to redesign my care packages as Supply Caches that I can send new players to instead using a written note with some supplies given on sight, it's a safer method as well as I'm not directly giving them a gun but I am directing players to go to a specific place via a note.

So with 0.53 it introduced the Flare Gun and some new melee weapons, one of which was a Lead Pipe. It got me thinking, could we perhaps add the element of crafting a basic shotgun from the Lead Pipe? Here's the basic idea: The player will need the following items: 1x Lead Pipe1x Hacksaw1x Wire1x ScrewDriver1x DuctapeIn order to make the home-made shotgun given the name "Pipe gun" the player will need to do the following: Combine the Hacksaw with the Lead Pipe to create Pipe Sections Combine the Hacksaw with the Screwdriver to create a Screwdriver head Combine the Pipe Sections with the Screwdriver Head to create a Pipe Gun base Combine the Pipe Gun Base to the Wire and apply the Duct Tape Load a 12 Gauge round into your new Pipe Gun. Optionally combine some additional pipe sections with wire or duct tape to make a Pipe Gun w/ Improvised Grip which will remove the weapons delay. When using the "Pipe Gun", there is a delay before the weapon actually fires and the player will use their thumb as a crude sight to aim the weapon. The delay can be removed by adding some pipe sections to the weapon while having Duct Tape or Wire in your inventory. It will create a Pipe Gun with an improvised grip. Additionally I had thought about ways of using the Flare Gun, now I'm not sure what caliber the Flare Gun is in-game but if it's a 12 Gauge Flare Gun I think the Flare Gun should be able to take 12 Gauge Buckshot, although using it will degrade it rapidly. It will become ruined with only 4 Shots, requiring a player to use 3 shots and then a repair kit to bring it back to a worn status.

While I'm all for a rowboat, what about a self inflating life raft? You could find them on Boats or in Wrecks for example. They have two forms, in their "packaged" state they can be stowed away inside a backpack, they are quite large however and take up as much room as a backpack within a backpack. Once deployed they can't be stowed away but you have your very own life raft providing you can find a paddle to use.

A relatively simple suggestion revolving around "how" you die or how you fall into a state of unconsciousness. Now it's highly debatable about how the effect occurs after you die but I'm leaning more towards the effect that going to "blackness" isn't instant unless the brain is destroyed. I'm talking more about death by sickness, cold/heat and extreme bodily damage to where the brain is intact. All in all, I think that when you start to fall unconscious it should be a fade to black instead of just instant, like an extremely rapidly gaining blurry screen followed by a sudden unconscious state. Now unless you were shot in the head, body shots, death by bloodloss, sickness and death by hypo/hyperthermia should all be focused on a gradually blurring screen followed by a fading to blackness which its speed is dependant. Another slight suggestion when your shot, some people have said in the past that gunshot victims that had recently died still had some reflex eye movements after they had been killed. I think this would give the player who died a last few seconds of their life before it would go black. So what are your thoughts on this?

It was on a persistance public server, my friend had a video of where he recorded the entire incident (the part where we encountered the hackers but I'm waiting on him to upload it)

So writing this post to let you all now the current state of affairs with my venture in doing "Care Packages". Joined three different servers and managed to meet about 7-8 people on medium to semi-high populated servers. Here's what I've got to say: My original target was around 5 individual new spawns but ended up trying serving around 7, 3 out of the 5 attacked me on site upon seeing me heavily geared up, no responses at all, just fists up and ready to fight. Two co-operated without incident and happily accepted the package with thanks and praise, the last two were interesting to say the least. Me and my friends encountered a new spawn who obviously was extremely close to death, despite our efforts, having revived him and restore him to full health, he chose the easy way out and using the makarov inside the Care package to promptly commit suicide, of which we recovered said Care package and thought to try again. There were a few instances of us handing individual items to new spawns such as rice bags, individual courier bags (just the bags not the gear), water bottles, other food items and sometimes magazines for a certain weapon. However the last individual was working alongside a hacker of which we all died afterwards. Afterwards myself and my friends encountered what we thought was a friendly survivor near three valleys, it wasn't until his character started laughing and sobbing like a maniac and a few shots of a Mosin whizzed at us. It was suspicious later once we closed in on his position only to have all three of us die instantly by an aimbotting speedhacker

Something else to consider, attach a lantern onto stick like this, hang off your backpack

Not sure about this, I'm pretty sure they will add Military vehicles in at some point but I'm not expecting a Land Rover unless it's a Civilian Defender Model I know that at the very least we can expect a "Technical" to appear, like a Toyota Hilux or a Nissan Pickup. I know that I read somewhere that the plan was to have the player find a HMG or just an MG in general and allow it to be mounted to said vehicle. Man it would be awesome to make a gun truck, attaching a load of MG's to the back of a V3S or something.

God if they had Pink spraypaint I think my friend would literally paint everything he picked up pink if he could :P But agreed, I would like to see different color spraypaint

That bullet to the brain 5 minutes prior is a mercy compared to what he's going through

I'd say more abandoned looking buildings, cabins, old warehouses, maybe an extremely old mansion or factory taken back by nature
-
I'd like to add that from a players perspective, perhaps add them having labored breathing, wheezing, some coughing and finally adding on the "death rattle" which is the last breaths of air escaping from the persons lungs before they drift off into the blackness of death. Then followed by the text of, "You are Dead"

Something of which I thought could become a good idea was the idea to craft a rope ladder. To craft it you'd need at least 9x sticks and 3x bundles of rope to craft a small rope ladder. The Ladder can be increased in size by simply combining more rope and sticks to it, upto a maximum of 12 meters. By default the standard small rope ladder takes up 2x1 of inventory space but the larger the rope ladder the more space it takes up. In addition you can combine a rock or some firewood to create a weight, allowing you to throw it upto areas to climb. The Rope Ladder can be placed in two ways. like above, combining a rock or a log of firewood will create a weight on the end allowing you to throw it up to buildings, alternatively you can be on top of a building and place a rope ladder down that way. Be warned however, a damaged or badly damaged rope ladder has a chance to break under the weight of the person using it and the rope ladder can be "unhitched" from it's original location by a player above.

In my mind, certain deaths are just too sudden, you die from Hypothermia or starvation/thirst, you just keel over dead. Personally I think as a side effect of extreme near death, the body simply prevents the player from performing even simple tasks. Only way to end it is to simply "give up" or like the suicide function they put it, simply end it like that.

Well in 0.53 you can apparently fill Water Bottles and Canteens with Gasoline. Unless you "check" said item first before drinking I'm pretty sure your gonna get sick from this. Also "Poisoning" can work in other ways too, like poisoning someones garden plot once Gardens remain persistant and/or coating arrows in a poisonous substance. There is something that I'm sure very few people have actually used in-game, when scanning over items in world or the inventory, you have the "INSPECT" option. A few additional lines of text at the bottom of the description could say this "It looks like it's been tampered with" or "This item smells funny". A can't count the number of times I've eaten random food I've found in-game because I know it's always pristine (which is a bad habit of the current version). Also I pretty sure most poison's are toxic in that they make you sick but won't kill you right away, it would make your opponent easier to deal with, especially in a melee encounter. In addition, I think certain plants such as berries and mushrooms should play an important aspect of poisoning ones food. (such as combining a poisonous shroom to a can of baked beans)

The Gorka E helmet will stop bullets, 2-3 from low tier handguns and 1 round from high tier handguns and all rifles. So in terms of this (i can't 100% confirm it) but I think alot of the helmets work like this: Gorka E Helmet - Provides the best protection from bullets and once the visor is installed it will reduce the chance of a knockout via a melee weapon/fists (Needs confirmation) Ballistic Helmet - Provides the best protection from bullets but is not very protective with melee weapons ZSh3 Pilot - Provides decent protection against bullets and blunt trauma but is inferior to the ballistic Helmet (lower ballistic protection but decent melee protection) Motorbike Helmet - Provides the best protection against Melee Attacks and Fist Attacks reducing the chance of a knockout. Firefighter Helmet - Like the Motorbike Helmet, best protection against Melee Attacks but is inferior due to no face shield, resulting in a higher chance of a knockout Skate Helmet - Provides average protection against melee trauma to the head Hard Hat - Same as Skate Helmet but inferior due to the brighter colors Tanker Helmet - Purely Cosmetic Welding Mask - Currently does not protect the face and is purely cosemetic

Not quite, I anticipated this and figured by placing the Makarov or P1 in the Jacket and the Magazine and Ammunition seperate I figured it would give me plenty of time to leave before they could sort out their stuff. Plus I wouldn't give them a loaded gun or a loaded magazine, they'd have to do that themselves and I won't be sticking around long enough for them to use it on me. Each action they must perform to prepare said weapon uses precious seconds of which I can use to escape to safety. Plus I doubt many will charge a fully geared player when they got an AKM or a SKS pointed straight at them. These first few "care packages" I will almost always do with a partner hiding nearby in the event things go south.

How about a Torch? And I don't mean a flashlight. Fuel Soaked Rags + Wooden Stick = Improvised Torch, hitting targets inflicts a burn status More over, hopefully when they finally add the Flare Gun into the game perhaps that can inflict fire based damage on hit?

Todays day was nothing special, but the days I had planned for the future might hold some promise. My latest session on a persistence public server was spent sifting through and sorting out gear out of my Military Tent ready for a server reset on wednesday. Kinda sad to see it go but alas I think a regular tent is far better in versatility mind you (actually be able to stow it in a backpack for one is a life saver). Was also on the idea of trying to make a journey to the coast and see about giving some of the stuff away, even down to making dedicated "care packages" to freshly spawned survivors on the coast. Decided to pop onto a private hive and had a few "interesting" moments. The first one was coming across a body pile while trying to meet a friend enroute to Kamyshovo, specifically the lighthouse at Krutoy Cap, must've been well enough about 5 or 6 bodies all clumped around the lighthouse. The second incident came while looting Electro in one of the Pub's second floors, I apparently was held up by a guy with a pistol, who insisted on firing at the ground as a "warning shot", after further refusals (why even hold up a guy with nothing but a Baseball bat) he then proceeded to "try" and kill me but hearing those several clicks made it evident he clearly didn't know guns all that well. After knocking him out, searching his belongings found a P1 pistol, some ammo and no magazines. While he was still able to talk, he accused me of hacks and promptly quit shortly after knocking him out. The last incident occured with a new character that had just spawned, geared up and while looting a nearby coastal house was ambushed by 5 new fresh spawns who all insisted they REALLY wanted my garden hoe and some berries. I think I managed to get one before being knocked unconscious, mocked for being a "bad player" and promptly laughing later once I heard them say "Great... those berries of yours made me sick! What kind of player picks up poisonous berries" :P

I never trust someone who says to you "Are you friendly", to me it's always a bad sign for me, case in point was a recent incident while I was doing a NWAF loot run at night, while being attacked by two zombies, ran into a sandbag bunker, immediately had a guy completely dressed in black holding a makarov and the first words that came out were "Hey dude are you friendly?" and then immediately opened fire with his makarov. Luckily he was an extremely bad shot and he never quite expected a spray of buckshot across his face. I try to play the lone survivalist / Hero Ranger type which has made me learn to detect certain attributes in a persons voice (even down a microphone), from experience I've yet to meet a Bandit who's been able to pull off the "I'm friendly" line without sounding like a complete prick (which they usually are)

Something I feel REALLY needs to be in Standalone is to be able to find Sharpening stones for your Axes and Knives. Here's how I imagine them to work: First up, is the Knife Sharpening Kit - This small kit is a 1 slot item and works in a similar way to a Sewing kit. It will require multiple uses in order to repair a knife or Axe back to a "worn" status and will become ruined once it's fully used. An Axe will require more uses, due to the small nature of the sharpening stones which are designed primarily for knives. Second is the Whetstone - Like the Knife Sharpening Kit only it uses a percentage value instead of a durability value, it takes up the same space as a Weapon cleaning kit, a 1x2 slot but allows for almost three times the durability of the knife sharpening kit. Each use on a Knife type item (Kitchen Knife, Hunting Knife, Combat Knife) takes roughly about 10% off, an Axe, Machete or Sword on the other hand, takes 20% off at a time, it will disappear from the users inventory once the item is fully used up. Third and finally is the Axe Grinding Stone - This hockey puck shaped stone is primarily designed for uses with Axe's and long blades (such as Machetes, Shovels and even Swords), It can NOT be be used with smaller blades like the Kitchen Knife, Combat Knife and Hunting Knife, a dedicated Knife Sharpening Kit or Whetstone is required for that. These Axe Stones are a 1 slot item but work in a percentage value, Axe's, Shovels, Swords and Machetes take up only 10% of it's percent value at a time. Overall these items can be found in Industrial areas as a well general residential areas.

Well I would say at least the Knife Sharpening Kit and the Axe Stone, because it's often very difficult to sharpen an axe on one of those small knife sharpening kits, an axe stone allows for a better cutting edge than what you would get with those smaller stones.

I figured as much, I presume the "command" variant when they incorporate vehicle upgrades could potentially be used as a persistent mobile home. I've looked inside the wrecked one and I'd imagine you'd be able to make it into a mobile house of sorts, finding a folding cot, a storage chest etc and you have a true mobile home there with the benefits of being marginally bulletproof (against small caliber rounds mind you)

Ability to collect gun powder from ammunition!
Draco122 replied to CGNoodlePot (DayZ)'s topic in Suggestions
I would think Shotgun Shells would provide the most in terms of gunpowder AND the remaining bullet tips could be recollected and added to bombs as extra shrapnel. If it goes THAT far, perhaps players can reuse old ammunition by recollecting spent cases and using them via a special tool which can be found. The containers for bombs could be anything from empty tin cans, soda cans, glass jars or bottles and the fuse, well the fuse could be something like a piece of gunpowder laced twine or a rag for example. -
I did manage to find what I thought was a V3S wreck somewhere up near Kamensk, I wish I could still take a screenshot of it. It did have a rear compartment, it was more like actual storage truck., It had an operable side door and double back door which was interactive. The closest image I can find of it is this:
