    Persistence Hunting

Personally I'm always wondering why the Wild Boars run away so much and from such a distance away, they are certainly not shy animals and from what I've seen they are more likely to attach humans in close proximity than flee. Perhaps thats something I'd certainly wouldn't mind seeing, Wild Boars and Pigs actually charging players than running away if they get too close.

    Rotting Corpse Loot Spawn

Good idea! Could also translate well into the disease mechanic, I'm pretty sure if you were loot some food off a fly ridden corpse it's bound to have some kind of disease attached to it
  3. I'm on the boat for Battle Rifles but then again I'm also against adding in some American styled battle rifles like the AR-10 and M14. I'm leaning more towards battle rifles like the G3A3 and the FN FAL. More specifically in regards to the FN FAL is the British L1A1 SLR variant. And you can't go wrong with the G3

    Attachment Ideas

Sporter 22: I believe for realism sake it should have it's own suppressor, you can't just slap on a 5,56mm Suppressor on a .22 Fire Selectors even in the US are rare for sporters and require specialist permissions to use one, not something that every joe has access to IF it featured a rail attachment I'd certainly be okay with it using the American Red Dot Sights like the CompM4 SKS Your thinking of the Chinese branded Norinco Type 56 SKS which had options for detachable magazine, the one featured in-game I'd hazard a guess as being primarily a Romanian M56 or actual russian SKS Bump Fire stocks are not seen anywhere else outside of the US and would probably be classified as illegal to own Steyr AUG Already as many have said, it's recieving some of these additions and will only be featured as one weapon. M4A1 It's already got an assload of attachments for it, do we really need anymore M1911, CR75, FNX45 Laser sights are often impractical unless a servicemen is wearing NVG's and "civilian" models are often only used for zeroing purposes. I would be as well BUT only if they made it function like how you would some real world grenade launchers, you have to account for distance, windage and angle of the shot in order to hit anything. Plus the grenades can only explode past 40 meters or at a certain distance AND they would need to be rare. Only two "attachment" grenade launchers I could reliably see are the GP-30 and the M203

    Glues & Sharpening Stones.

Something I think that hasn't really had much of any thought put in, is the topic of repair items and with that, I'd like to suggest adding in Glue's to DayZ as a way to repair items. In addition I'd like to try and resuggest the use of adding in Sharpening Stones to repair bladed weapons. Currently we have Weapon Repair Kits (for a majority of firearms)Sewing Kits and Leather Sewing Kits (for a majority of basic and leather clothes)Duct Tape and Stones (which can be used to bring clothing and bladed weapons back from Badly Damaged to a Damaged State)So what would "Glues" do, well for the most part they would offer a small to medium repair rate on Melee weapons, Tools, Helmets and other items that aren't a fabric or leather that have become damaged and repair them to a "worn" status. They can also be used for medical purposes such as sealing wounds like sewing kits, but care should be taken as the wrong glue could lead to a small chance of gaining a toxic reaction and the player would therefore become sick. There are ideally four types of "Glue" I could see being in DayZ: School Glue - Really cheap, inexpensive stuff you'd see everywhere in Office's and Schools. This would be the most basic glue you could find, offers a small repair rate on most tools, melee weapons even clothes and helmets.Wood Glue - More common in carpentry, this glue is used for treating wooden based tools (such as the splitting axe) but still works okay on non-wooden tools.Medical Glue - Found in Clinics and Hospitals, this glue has been rated safe for use in medical purposes on humans. Even those that are rated for use on animals are even perfectly safe to use as well. They do not run the risk of getting a sick status from its use.Industrial Adhesive - An extremely strong, rapid setting adhesive that can be used on metals, electronics and a number of other items. By far the strongest of glues with the largest repair rate. Found mostly inside Industrial Zones.Lastly are Sharpening Stones, they should come primarily in a three stone pack (which has stones for Coarse, Medium and Fine) and work like a Sewing kit. Each use degrades it down little by little but repairs your damaged bladed weapons back to a "Worn" status.

    Better Bows

Two ways I could imagine you could make an improvised quiver is to use wire instead of Rope and using tanned leather (the wire is the binder and not the strap). I say this because there are already a number of crafting recipes which primarily use Rope yet wire (to my knowledge) has one use to make Rabbit snares. You could add rope to a completed quiver which allows you to carry it seperate from a backpack.

    Better Bows

As of the latest patch, I've found you can cut branches off Ashwood Tree's with a suitable knife, it should give an option for "Cut Ashwood Stick from Tree" or something like that. Personally I think we should have multiple crafted bows, this one and the ashwood bow. I do like your idea though!

    Idea about landmines

I don't think ALL of them should be having minefields but should be dynamic like helicopter crashes, where certain military locations have a chance to spawn minefields
  9. Draco122

    Plant Spawns on Greenhouses

I do love this idea, more over it's not completely lost by getting rotten fruit and veg. You could perhaps scavenge the seeds from rotten fruit and gain plant material as fertilizer instead of finding garden lime to speed up growth of the crops.

    Helmets/Guns color modifications

I couldn't agree more on leather armor, perhaps it could become a poor mans plate carrier? I could imagine you could even add Oak Bark as additional protection and maybe even make modifications to it? I'd love to see some leather armor garments that cover the limbs as a seperate add on like wrist guards and shin guards

    Idea about landmines

This ^ In my mind there should be two ways to acquire a landmine. Either you deactivate a live one or find one in a Military location. I'm not sure how you'd "deactivate" a live landmine as most deactivation methods are simply to blow them up. But I do like that idea, that certain bases should have "minefield" to discourage players entering them from their flanks. Some locations I can imagine a minefield existing are the following: Military Base near VeresnikMilitary Camp near MyshkinoMilitary Base near PavlovoMilitary Base near Kamensk (I always imagine this location as being an old "abandonded" military facility and so I thought about having minefields that surrond the outer perimeter and that it was merely left to rot)

    Idea about landmines

I am really curious, how close do you have to be to the mine for it go off? Most mines in games dont really go too well with pressure based unless the model is exceptionally large. Most are proximity based in some regard. Would it be possible to defuse said landmine if you found an activated one by crawling towards it?

    Better Bows

Personally I believe you should be able to make an initial improvised bow and then later gradually upgrade it to become more refined and useful to you by making it more composite (using man-made materials to strength and enhance it). But then again I also believe you should be able to find both a modern composite recurve bow and even a Compound Bow. Both of which incorporate a special sight for aiming. The Arrows in-game are directly tied with damage, it's hard to say EXACTLY how much damage they all do. I would say it be structured like this: Improvised Arrow - By far the weakest but the most common (in that it can be crafted), it's weak, it's light and your ammunition supply with these are practically infinite (if your willing to spend time making them all).Bone Arrow - After successfully getting your first animal or gutting your first corpse these Arrows I would imagine would be as close to the damage profile of regular Composite Arrows. They would do more damage due to the broadhead design they have.Composite Arrow - The ones you find in Towns as regular loot would make this the most powerful also the most rare. Structurally they also would have the best in terms of accuracy and range, being balanced for flight compared to improvised arrows and bone arrows which would have defects. In addition I do think we need more ways to create arrows, such as taking random junk such as scrap metals (such as those of soda cans/tin cans), glass and even sharpened stone flints as arrow heads.

    55. Experiencience Improvements

...and just when i was thinking about more animal capture devices,i see this making it into the gamefiles, imagine my excitment! Sometimes i wonder whether devs have mind-reading abilities! I do like that although technically I still don't understand why you can use the improv fish trap only in the sea while I imagine this one would be strictly freshwater. It'd be awesome as well if the dev's added crabs and crayfish with the option of crab pots to trap them.

    55. Experiencience Improvements

Dont bother with the Frying Pan, it's broken as of 0.55. When you put it on a fire or a camping stove, it doesn't actually cook the meat. In 0.55 you NEED a Cooking Pot just to cook anything now. I couldn't agree more with the OP but currently in 0.55 fishing doesn't work correctly. You can still catch the fish but preparing the fish only produces small guts and no fillets. The other problem persists with animals, alot of the time they seem to spawn and either instantly get picked off by player or chased down and killed by zombies. In which case they don't even seem to spawn back in. I've had to resort to use Rabbit Snares and finding Cows as cow's seem to be one of the more reliable animals to spawn.
  16. Draco122

    Improvised Bow Broken in 0.55?

You also can't use a frying pan either to cook meat on a fire. Tried using a frying pan on both a Stone Oven and a Camping Stove and the pan doesn't even get hot. So therefore the only current way to cook meat in 0.55 is to find a Cooking Pot, which is a venture in it's own right.

    Animal Masks.

Ya know what I would like? Craft able Masks, like taking a skull from an animal and somehow grafting it onto a helmet, it will probably not give anything other than intimidation factor, wearing skulls to me seems just badass!

    BAF L85/SA80 variants

Well we have UN Peacekeeper Helmets which stands to reason that some kind of peace keeping force was present before/after the outbreak that occurred. From what I understand UN Peacekeepers usually take on soldiers from other countries to assist. The UN website for example, shows what countries provided their assistance and contributions in peacekeeper acts and the United Kingdom offered 285 troops to the cause for some of its missions. Perhaps that could be a reason to have the L85 in-game, perhaps it was apart of a small detachment of British Army loaned Troops who were acting as UN Peacekeepers?

    Pistol Crossbow

With the advent of 0.55 and the more spawns of animals, I think that having a smaller, more compact Pistol Crossbow would be a welcome addition to DayZ. It would be equal in size to most SMG's in the inventory and would most likely be only slightly less powerful at range compared to the standard crossbow.

Apartments are very inconvenient places to loot.

I had also thought about having some floors of the apartment damaged in some way, like floors having caved in or something or areas that aren't accessible. Like a fire or something occurred inside or something.
  21. Something I feel that needs to be addressed and certainly done is the topic of food and campfires. I respect that for a simple campfire you'd need either a cooking pot or a frying pan to cook anything on there but whats disappointing is the fact that you NEED those items to cook any raw meat. With the way 0.55's loot has been, cooking raw meat has become somewhat more popular providing someone can find those materials. But lets be real here, it's not gonna last forever so here's some methods I'd love to see in 0.56 for cooking. Sharpened SticksPosted a few times before but the concept is still simple. A shaved sharpened stick and with your chosen meat or fish. Placed on a campfire it will slowly cook without damaging the meat. It's a scout favourite and simple method to cook food over any campfire but it limits you to how much you can cook at a time. Typically only 2 or 3 sticks on a campfire at once. Improvised Cooking TripodThis one only requires a few other materials. With a stack of 5 sticks and some wire you can craft an improvised cooking tripod. You can cook meat straight off from this like a grill, it holds 3 spaces the same as a frying pan, see the image below for reference. Add an ashwood stick and another roll of wire to allow the use of a Cooking pot. To balance this out compared to the Cooking Tripod, the Improvised Cooking Tripod will degrade with every use until it becomes ruined. Stone OvenWe already have a Stone oven but it doesn't actually allow you cook anything directly from it like what most actual stone ovens would do. Instead it acts just like the Cooking Tripod, you still need the Cooking pot or Frying Pan to use. So in essence, while time consuming to collect all the necessary materials I think that the Stone oven should allow players to cook food without the use such items but the capacity for cooking them is limited. Lets say for example, a Stone oven can only cook a maximum of 6 items at a time. It should work like a Cooking Pot, you need to view the contents first and add the chosen meat before you can cook anything.

    Food Recipe's

So I want to hear your guys idea's on food recipe's. I had one myself earlier which I mentioned in another thread which was a food recipe for a Shish Kebab. Take one sharpened stick, a bladed tool to cut up sections of your chosen meat and a number of fruits or vegetables. Combine the sections of meat to the sharpened stick with an addition of tomato's, green peppers and zuchini's to make a Shish Kebab, a hearty filling meal which covers a 2x1 space in the Inventory. A shish can be made in any combination of food from an entirely meat shish to a entirely fruit/vegetable shish to a combination of the two.

    OTs-14 Groza Assault Rifle

I'd be up for this, if it was rare mind you. There are two versions that are used, "Groza-1" for 7,62x39mm and "Groza-4" chambered for 9x39mm.
  24. Despite what some people say about the Zombies in .55, I LOVE it. It actually makes them more of a threat than just a pest. Some notes on them I've found: Zombies WILL tire eventually, they start off fast but after a minute or two they are reduced to fast shambling gait. It's at this stage a player can easily outrun them or kill them with aimed shots until they get past their sight radius.Line of sight is still as important as ever, breaking that sight line means they will loose you and revert back to an idle roaming status. However if they followed you to a ladder or a high location or you trap yourself inside a building they will often stay outside until something else comes along.Melee weapons are no longer truly effective versus zombies, one on one you can usually defeat them fairly quickly with timed swings but you must ensure your weapon is pristine or worn to get the best effect. I've found that damaged and badly damaged melee weapons always gets me in worse conditions than what I would with a pristine one. This update has caused me to use more firearms to kill zombies, normally it would just be an Axe and be done with it. I actually started using a P1 (sans the magazine) and picking off zombies while quietly sneaking around some of the smaller villages like Dolina. With the reduced "senses" of the Zombies I was able to successfully sneak past and clear most of the villages using only the P1 and it has made me consider carrying a 9mm or .45 sidearm to use against zombies while scavenging. It's also inspired some of my friends to actively carry the .22 rifles such as the Trumpet or Sporter for quick zombie removal when traveling as part of a squad. The added aggression and "tankyness" of the zombies is well worth it in my opinion. They ignore pain so therefore they should be able to take a few more hits than what a normal human player should be able to take to the body. Only a headshot is a surefire way to outright kill them. #The added update to Zombies has inadvertently buffed the use of the Crossbow and the Bow to use against Zombies. A trained user in a Crossbow or Bow can silently take out multiple zombies in a town before they even know who's there.
  25. Alot of very good ideas, I especially like the Yukon backpack to draw onto them a bit more here's my take on some of them. Butts stock ammo carriers There should ideally be three types with some variations with each, Repeater, Rifle and Shotgun with the Rifle and Shotgun having at least one variation. Repeater would be exclusive for the Repeater Carbine while Rifle would be universal for rifle type guns while shotgun is universal for shotgun type guns. Rifle ammo carriers would exist in a pouch and loops while shotgun exists in loops and side saddle (more explained below). The Stock mounted ammo pouch you posted should hold roughly two slots of ammo of your chosen gun, so if I had an SKS I should be able to carry at least one stripper clip (for fast reloads) and a box of 7,62x39mm or two if I really wanted. This would be the Rifle Ammo Pouch and be universal for most rifle grip styled firearms. The variation for rifle ammo carriers would be the looped ammo carrier for rifle butt stocks and hold anywhere from 5 to 7 loose rounds of your chosen ammo type . This would also be available for the Repeater as it's own attachment, holding half the magazine of the the Repeater at 7 rounds. Rather than allow for ammo storage, this attachment would function much like a speedloader, allowing you to reload rounds without entering the inventory BUT you have to "reload" the attachment with fresh bullets before it can be used again. Shotgun ammo carriers would exist as a looped buttstock ammo carriers and side saddle shell holders. Like above the looped shell carrier doubles as a speed loader but only holds upto 4-6 shotgun shells at a time. It would also only be attachable for the IZH-43 and MP-133 standard. The Side Saddle can be mounted ONLY on pump action (and in the future semi-automatic) shotguns, mounted on the receiver. Again this would allow speedloading like before and only hold a limited number of rounds. Slings While I like realism I think for balance reasons I'd prefer being able to carry at least one longarm on my back regardless of whether it had a sling or not. Carrying a second longarm WITH a sling should incur a heavy penalty, such as reduced run speed, higher fatigue, increased thirst/hunger rates (which would incur when carrying more gear). I also think that while rags would work short term, Rope and more dedicated slings should be found. In addition to the ammo carrier idea, certain slings could double up as your ammo carrier, as there exists Shotgun and Rifle type "Bandolier" type slings available. Backpack Backpacks overall should be able to made out of almost anything, even spare clothes. There exists a way a person can create a small backpack using nothing but a T-Shirt and some Jeans for example. Your "Yukon" style backpack to me seems like a more suitable if not a somewhat bulky backpack which could store alot of items but be problematic due to bright colours (depending on what color tarps they add in). Holsters and Sheaths One thing I think that Holsters and Sheaths should be applicable to is much like Arm bands. Allow them to be placed on an arm or leg (arm for knives, leg for Handguns and Machetes/Hatchets) or just on the lower back/waistline (scout style like you said). Handgun holsters could exist on the leg in leather or synthetic materials. A drop leg holster for pistols could be a popular military spawn. Reinforced Clothing Again another good idea, I like being able to patch together current clothes with leather inserts to provide an added layer of protection you could even add a piece of scrap metal as a form of improvised ballistic protection (although it's protection against anything more than a pistol round would be negligible). Additionally certain other materials such as animal pelts and synthetic materials could be used to "buff" an existing item to become more resilient to weather effects such as warmth or waterproofing. Cooking Couldn't agree more, dozens of times I've tried to find a Frying Pan or a Cooking pot to cook my 8 beefsteaks or 4 or so Venison steaks to no avail and yet I should be able to make an improvised cooking implement to help cook my meat. Sharpened sticks is one idea, you can only cook one item at a time with them and you may need more than one. It could even lend itself as a cooking recipe for a future food item, a Shishkebab for example where you can added green peppers and other vegetables to the mix to create a more powerful and fulfilling meal.
