Right now a Raft seems pointless, don't take this the wrong way but much more needs to be added to the game to warrant a raft. The dev's did say they have planned adding in Utes to Chernarus as a offshore Island that is only accessible by boats. And further more, a Raft should be simple to make and small but later can add stuff to it to make it more effective

The Community's List of Suggested Weapons for Dayz Standalone (Version: 1.29)
Draco122 replied to alexeistukov's topic in Suggestions
Personally I'd vouch for this, for me part of the whole Survival aspect in terms of firearms is knowing what ammo goes with what gun, hell it would be grand if they added a feature that allow you to put in the wrong type of caliber for a gun. Like loading for example, if they decided to add 7,62x54 and 7,62x51, someone could mess up and load the wrong ammo in a mosin and the result is a damaged gun. At least then it would give me an excuse to use those weapon repair kits I keep hoarding -
I'll admit I'm a gun nut but at the same time it makes me cringe a little whenever I hear someone yell the generic name of M4 and instantly think it's full auto. To me when I hear "M4" I think of the burst fire variant which has semi-auto and a 3 round burst. It's a small "nit pick" suggestion but it also gives more realism in weapon choice. I've made a poll to decide on whether people would just fancy a name change to a more accurate "M4A1" or to change it to a burst firing carbine Edit: Also changed the poll to include both a burst fire M4 AND the option of a full auto M4A1 for slightly added realism

I'm not too big on adding in the AS Val, the VSS I fully support however as a super rare loot drop alongside ammo and magazines. As a sniper rifle its unique, while many sources say its effective range is 600 meters, user accounts say that the 9x39mm round starts to show bullet drop at around 300-400 meters depending on weather conditions and its perfect for eliminating targets in body armor. In addition the 9x39mm round comes in a number of unique variants such as SP-5 (Full Metal Jacket), SP6 and BP (Armor Peircing), PAB-9 (Hollow Point) and SPP (Match Grade Sniper ammo with increased penetration)

Something of which I don't think that has been explored enough in DayZ Standalone is the topic of boats. Currently we don't have much in terms of naval exploration but with the idea that the island of Utes could become a potential off shore island of Chernarus I thought what sort of "transport" could be used to get there? As some have said their opinions about Air travel, I thought about the next best thing and thats boats. Here's some examples starting from small to large: An Inflatable Life Raft - Commonly found as an emergency equipment aboard boats or in and around coastal areas. These self-inflating life rafts are handy to have to survive in coastal waters and are usually outfitted with their inbuilt survival kits containing fresh water, emergency rations and emergency signal flares. They usually come inside of a large carry pack (which could be stored in a backpack, albiet taking a fair amount of space. A self-inflating portable, 1-2 man dinghy - Similar to the Life Raft, a self inflating 1-2 man dinghy complete with its own telescopic folding oars. Could also come in its own package which can be stored and "deployed". Rowing Boat - A wooden rowing boat, often found close to the coast as static objects but could be found docked at port yards, you'd need to find Oars (which could also be applied as makeshift melee weapons) in order to use a rowing boat albiet some may have oars already on-board (abliet rarely). Additionally a small outboard motor could also be found at even rarer chance. Sail Boat (Small) - A small sail boat complete with sail to utilise earths natural winds to propel the craft. A small outboard motor could be found to use as well in a similar vein to the Rowing Boat. Fishing Boat - A fishing boat that could come in all sorts of sizes, difficult to use and hardest to maintain. A fishing boat has enough room to store several people, not to mention store some valuable supplies and emergency equipment, but it's often banged up shape (due to rough waters) often leads them to be very difficult to maintain. Barge/Ferry - Quite possibly the largest and even the most hardest to maintain, but is large enough to even carry vehicles across from islands to island at a time, albiet at a slow pace.

I can agree with you to a point, although some of the weapons you said I think should be older or "outdated" american equipment. Perhaps have the M16A2, 92FS replace the M249 with an original FN Minimi and just stick with the M60, M79 and M72 LAW. Overall however I think that Russian style weapons should be much more common, especially the older "surplus" weapons like the TT-33, PM, AKS-74U, RPK and RPG-7.

I had heard somewhere that Cigarettes curb or slow down the rate of hunger in individuals, I don't know if this is a placebo effect or not but it's an idea nonetheless. In addition, I hope at some point the Dev's add in a Mental Stress mechanic, perhaps Cigerettes could be used to reduce the amount of mental "stress" with obivious disadvantages

While this has already kind of happened with the M4 rifle, being able to swap parts out completely for the Foregrip, Stock, Carry Handle and so on it ties more on the customisation side. What I'm getting at here is being able to have weapons with parts that sustain individual damage instead of an entire weapon becoming "ruined". Plus it would give players an ability to "disable" a weapon by swapping out key critical parts of said weapon or potentially "repairing" a weapon by swapping out parts in exchange (as an alternative less effective method than Weapon Repair kits). This also functions with the idea of the rather unrealistic "hide body" feature which merely allows the body to be hidden, equipment and all to fade into the ground. Alot of people seem to use this to prevent people reclaiming their gear, so I propose the ability to dismantle or potentially damage existing weapons and gear without having to spend ammo or damage your own weapons (like constantly hitting their corpse with an Axe for example and potentially dulling or damaging your own weapon). Some examples: 1. Lets say you kill someone who's apart of a squad who's team mates are lesser armed than the guy you killed but further away, looting the town you were in. You are heavily equipped with your personal favorite weapons and gear which just so happens to be the same weapon this one guy was carrying. His teammates are fast approaching but you don't want to carry two of the same gun (and try to juggle them around in a middle of a fire fight) and rather than destroy the gun (by hiding the body) you can remove key critical parts in effect, disabling the weapon (an example could be the M4's Barrel or Trigger Assembly or removing the Bolt from a Mosin) preventing his team from looting his body for a better weapon and preventing the original owner claiming his gear. Inversely it can also potentially trick an individual to picking up a "disabled" weapon further enforcing the need to check every weapon you pick up. 2. You encounter a body who still posses a B-95 rifle with no ammo but the stock is damaged, you take the "damaged" variant and find a new another albeit with a "damaged" barrel plus ammo. You merely swap out the damaged parts for the good parts to make yourself a functioning weapon although it won't be as good as if you repaired either damaged variant with a weapon repair kit 3. Your already well armed but encounter a firearm in a heavy traffic area, this firearm while not very good at range could still be a potential threat to you. You can disable or potentially damage said firearm by removing key parts or damaging the weapon so it's less effective.

Personally I think there should exist more Holsters overall in different materials and types. In addition I think Holsters should impart a speed increase in drawing of handguns compared to drawing one from a backpack or from the pants or jacket of a user. Maybe have different tiers of Holsters, for example: Leather Holsters as Tier 1, which hold the weapon and nothing elsePlastic holsters as Tier 2, which hold the weapon and 1 magazineNylon Holsters as Tier 3, which hold the weapon and 2 magazines

Generally I'm against this idea and the SVD is gonna be added eventually. More over I hate the addition of more military issue sniper rifles, have something more along the lines of civilian hunting rifles. I'm pretty sure at some point in development, the Dev's may make the B95 compatible with the long range scope or give its own scope. Overall I think this games needs FAR less modern Military based weapons and more civilian hunting/target weaponry and old military surplus (like the G98 currently in development).

Just had an idea about using the regular cans of Spraypaint you encounter in the world be used as a self-defence non-lethal weapon. Not like a grenade but a short ranged stunning weapon. For example, you find a spray can in a building and an attacker attempts to beat you down with either their fists or a melee weapon. Instead you use the Spray Can as a weapon and spray the attackers in the face, it's not quite pepper spray but it does blind your attackers for a period of time. A similar experience is like powerful soap in one eye's or if anyone accidently sprayed themselves in the eye with deodorant or hairspray. I'd imagine a similar effect is applied with spraypaint.
-
It also opens up avenues for other Aerosol type canisters which could be found in-game, an actual can of pepper spray for example could be found in police stations which give a constant long term blurring compared to other aerosol type spray cans like deodorant, aerosol lubricant and even spraypaint. Furthermore it achieve two other potential goals, the first being able to use "everything as a weapon" much like how the Dev's have said multiple times and will enforce the use of Masks as protection other than just a cosmetic coolness factor

I wouldn't say for pristine only guns, the idea was just to swap out better conditioned parts from other guns than just swapping it. Later on I could imagine you'd never find guns in pristine condition, maybe some "parts" of them could be pristine but you'd need to tinker around and swap some parts out for better conditioned ones

I did do research (which seems you did not) and I think you'll find there ARE two types, the M4 and the M4A1. The version you found is the SOPMOD Special Forces M4A1. Under no circumstances did I say it was from COD or Battlefield, you just presumed I was another fanboy of the franchise and deduced it was from there. Quote directly from wikipedia and with deeper research found on a number of other sites. http://world.guns.ru/assault/usa/m4-m4a1-e.html Colt Website (referred to by Colts Model number which typically starts with R0) http://www.colt.com/Catalog/ColtMilitary/Products/ColtM4Carbine.aspx#100844-features--models To say I DIDN'T use the Search Function would be an understatement, quite frankly the only thread with semblance to the suggestion was made back in January of course I can revive that thread only to get yelled at for Necroing a dead thread. So it's not exactly a win-win situation there is it?

While certainly along the lines of Cooking coming soon, I'd always want methods of combining food with stuff you'd normally wouldn't eat on its own. An example I can give is combining bread with a can of Dog Food or somehow making use of the various Rotten fruits and vegetables and combining them in some way to make a decent dish

Something I feel that needs to be addressed, in the character customization options I believe there should be a ability to change the weight, height and even width of a person. Why is it we have to start with the same person who is virtually identical to everyone in every way? Why not have different body types? Yes it can convey certain advantages but it can also give alot of disadvantages. Lets try to be realistic here though, so no one 12 feet tall and weight 900lbs

Seems strange to me why they would do such a thing, considering a shotguns main selling point besides close range damage is its versatility with ammunition. Come to think of it, before the Shotgun was even added, I DO remember finding green shotgun slugs but they strangely disappeared after the shotgun was added
-
There's talk about the shotgun using Pellets but what about Slugs? I'm sure they still exist in-game although I never really found them? Did they take 'em out or are they just super rare now?

I dont know about the rest of the DayZ community but what are peoples thoughts about the use of .50 cal black powder Muzzleloaders? Like this one in this video? The way I see it, it's a single shot, loud, high damage within its range but ideal for those wanting to ensure a quick kill with the .50 caliber projectile it fires!

Things that should be added in a near future (suggestion from a large group of players)
Draco122 replied to ladatron's topic in Suggestions
Other creatures/animals that should be added from smallest to largest: Beehives Wasp/Hornet Nests Roach Trout Carp Bream Bass Pollock Eals Snakes Rats (Vary in size, can be killed for meat, can bite which does minor damage but leads to infections) Pigeon Crow Cats (Small Cats like Lynx to large cats like Cougars and Mountain Lions) Pheasant Mallad Duck Red Fox Gray Fox Dogs (Ranging from Domestic Dogs turned Feral to Wild Dogs) Wolves Feral Hog Wild Boar Roe Deer Whitetail Deer Red Deer Eurasian elk (aka European Moose) Black Bear Brown Bear Shark (Only appears in Deep Water, 100+ meters from the Coastline) Some additional items in no specific order Medicinal Herbs (which can be ground up as a paste or as a herbal drink) Edible Mushrooms and Fungi MP3 Player Cassette Player w/ Tapes Empty Journals Water Bladders Zip Lock Bags Carrier Bags Suitcases Duffel Bags Crackers/Cookies/Biscuits Salt and Pepper Condiments Fishing Rod & Fishing Tackle Harvest-able Honey Getting Sticks from Trees Sledgehammer (Melee) Pickaxe (Melee) Pool Cue (Melee) Crutch (Melee) Sinlge Barreled Shotgun ,50 Cal Blackpowder Muzzleloader -
To say the Enfield is "out of place" at this point in time would be a moot point (considering we've got 1911's, M4's, FNX-45's and Colt Pythons in a russian/czech environment) While I'll admit I'd like to see the SMLE No.4 Mk.I return at a later date, I think right now the Mosin has it pretty much covered. Don't get me wrong I do think it deserves a spot, much like how the Dev's plan to add the Kar98K in at some point in the future. More over I think that they should try adding in something that was "made" from a Lee Enfield. My vote goes towards this gun, the L42A1 or Enfield Enforcer: Chambered in 7,62x51mm NATO with a fixed 10 round magazine, in the 70's it was a popular police rifle but has now been made obsolete but is still a great hunting rifle. In addition to this, there could also be "sporterised" variants of existing Military bolt action rifles that have been tailored towards hunting so there could exist hope for the Lee Enfield in some regard.

i would be down for adding sweets to the game, perhaps a mix of hard candies and soft? I know some survival kits ship out with hard sugar candies to be used for emergency energy boosts.

The above picture showcases the Marlin 1894C chambered in .357 Magnum with a tubular magazine size of 10 rounds. Back in the old DayZ mod days the Winchester 1866 (which was portrayed as a shotgun in the mod) was a prominent, common and viable defensive option for new spawns searching residential areas. To tie in with modern times and to present a firearm that doesn't need a new ammo type, I propose this weapon to fill the gap for civilian type rifles in DayZ and to sort of bring back fond memories of using a lever action in a Zombie apocalypse setting. It would be considered a pistol carbine for using the .357 magnum round but having the range and accuracy of a rifle yet the same knockdown power of a pistol. Possible upgrade options I can see for the Marlin 1894C are as follows: Ghost Ring sights - Simple sights mounted on the weapon that replace the default iron sightsVernier Sights - A more classic option, the Vernier sight is a folding iron sight with adjustable range values, potentially allowing the shooter to compensate shooting over longer ranges:Scope Mount - On its own the Marlin cannot add any other optical attachments other than the Ghost Ring Iron Sighst and Vernier sight, in order to mount more advanced optics, you need a Scope mount.Red Dot - Same as the ones used on the M4x4 or x3.5 Scope - A short to medium range sight similar in function to the PU Scope.Stock mounted side saddle cartridge holder - A side saddle shell/cartridge holder than can hold upto 6-7 .357 magnum rounds on the weapon itself which function as a speed loader"Mares Leg" - With the addition of a Hacksaw, a player can create a sawn off "Mare's Leg" adaption which has a reduced capacity of 7 rounds, heavy recoil and less range but is unable to attach any of the above attachments due to the modifications, however it functions as a pistol and can be carried in the chest holster.Gallery: Vernier Sight Scope Mount Shell Holder Mare's Leg

The idea of a Water Bladder or also known as a Hydration pack is a backpack mounted water reservoir or "bladder" which allows a person to drink some water on the move. Their sizes range from 1.5 litre's to 3.0 litre's. How it would work in-game is that it is a separate item that is stored in the backpack and with the use of the action menu, one can freely drink from the bladder without any animation. The downsides? Due to it's size, it takes up considerable backpack space and could be considered rare. In some regards, there could also be two variants a Civilian variant and a Military variant with the Military variant being the largest and most durable. Additionally I had an idea about utilizing blood bags as an improvised water bladder, most common blood bags can hold anywhere from 0.5 to 1.0 litres of blood so technically shouldn't this also apply to water as well? You'd ruin the use of a blood bag for a transfusion (ruining the sterile nature of the bag) but you can use it as a small water bladder, alternatively, once disinfected, a blood bag can be "recycled" into a water bladder after a transfusion. Just something I thought I could add to the world of DayZ
