    Underground Bunkers

This would be fantastic to have. He mentioned it at Rezzed as a concept or a hypothetical addition to the mod I think. But he did sound as though he had been really considering it. So if this comes out eventually I would be ecstatic. Here's my base idea for underground bunkers. They're tiered and have a difficulty curve in attaining the items necessary as well as a buffer period before you actually get the bunker. Meaning dedication is also a requirement. Limit one per person server-wide/hive-wide. Meaning you need to pick a single server in which you want this on. The following would be build based on what is in your bunker's inventory, excluding tools. The bunkers will use the same inventory system as tents. The owner of the bunker can destroy it at any time - destroying the items within and all resources put into it - regardless of how many times they've died since building it. The bunker should be able to be upgraded regardless of dying after building the original bunker. -Upgrade-able underground shelters- [Tier 1]: Hole in the ground Requirements: Entrenching Tool Same inventory as tents. [Destructible] [Tier 2]: Little dirt bunker 75 inventory slots. Requirements Entrenching Tool, Sandbags, Tier 1, 10 wood, 5 day rest period from last bunker upgrade. [Destructible] [Tier 3]: Medium wooden bunker Requirements: Entrenching Tool, Sandbags, Tier 2, 30 wood, 7 day rest period from last upgrade. 75 inventory slots. Can be damaged and must be repaired for use for a cost of 50-75% of supplies used for original building cost . [indestructible] [Tier 4]: Large wooden bunker Requirements: Entrenching Tool, Sandbags, Tier 3, 50 wood, 7 day rest period from last upgrade, 2 Scrap metal, Toolbox. 100 inventory slots Can be damaged and must be repaired for use for a cost of 50-75% of supplies used for original building cost . [indestructible] [Tier 5]: Reinforced wooden bunker Requirements: Entrenching Tool, 6 Sandbags, Tier 4, 75 wood, 10 day rest period from last upgrade, 5 Scrap metal, 4 Barbed Wire, Toolbox . 150 inventory slots Can be damaged through use of explosives and must be repaired for use for a cost of 25% of supplies used for original building cost. Reduced cost as a benefit for reinforcing it. [indestructible] [Tier 6]: Cement Bunker Requirements: Entrenching Tool, 16 Sandbags, Tier 3, 90 wood, 12 day rest period from last upgrade, 30 Scrap metal, 6 Barbed Wire, Toolbox, 30 canteens[full], 40 bags of cement(obviously this item does not exist). 200 inventory slots. Cannot be damaged - can be conquered?[Maybe not]. [indestructible] Obviously the dev team is busy on other things right now and this cannot be implemented in the near future, but I am throwing the idea out there anyways.
  2. Pretty much. Hope he doesn't use the ArmA II engine though -_-

    Hacker US 825

Alright so my friend and I were on a server I had d/ced but he stayed in all of the sudden he tells me that he sees a message that says "One of these days Alice, straight to the moon." and he got teleported to the top of the map with everyone except a guy named "Chardo440". Everyone died except him, I was watching the messages on the bottom left. It didn't happen until he joined so I'm going to throw out that Chardo440 is a hacker if battleye or someone could globally ban him, that would be great. There were only 4 people on the server other than me and he was the only one not to die.

    Get rid of dead bodies...

Everyone by now is probably aware of the horrible artifacting that is caused by the dead soldier's bodies. Rocket is working on it but it seems he hasn't found a fix for it. So I simply propose removing the artifact causing corpses. All of them. You can't see them because of it and they're causing massive graphical issues, so there is every reason to be rid of them.
  5. I understand the viewpoint from a dev's perspective when making mods, but it isn't up to par in my opinion to today's engines. It has a lot of things but it also lacks a lot. Not to mention all the bugs it has, clipping issues, well just a lot of issues I don't feel like listing them all.
  6. For some reason Rocket has this conception of ArmA's engine being good. Why the hell does he think that. It is most definitely not.

    Zombies are Mike Tyson

This happened to me today at the NE airfield. Got punched was knocked out and lost 6k blood instantly. Didn't die as I had 10k blood. But it's a little ridiculous. I don't know how it happened, I couldn't have got shot, my friend was with me didn't hear shots neither did I nor was I in a place I could get sniped at I was inside a building, it was because I had zombies on me and they hit me. This is ridiculous and it really shouldn't happen. Please Rocket, do something about it. I am on 1.7.2.4.

    Possible fix for Loading issues

Highly doubt it will fix anything. I'm not trying to be pessimistic but we aren't dealing with professionals here. They are experimenting, trying to see what works and what doesn't. Currently I can't get into a single game of 1.7.2.3 due to ridiculously long long "loading" times. Also that fix isn't really working, anyone else have any suggestions? Whatever happened to the good old days where I would load within seconds. Seriously hardly anything has changed in the mod since then, just an increase of glitches and errors. I'd much rather deal with the hackers than deal with this shit. It's getting more unplayable with each patch that goes by. If increased security means increased problems. Then I choose lack of security.
  10. Tents as they are simply don't work out. They're easy to find and impossible to defend. They eat items and hardly work. It's pointless to even try to make a cache because it is always found no matter where on the map you put it. There is no method of hiding your cache; tents do NOT blend in to the environment and they are essentially useless. Vehicle storage stands out like a sore thumb and can just drive away never to be seen again. Simply put I want ACTUAL storage. A way to store things that other players find difficult to plunder. Anything, I honestly don't care, anything that is hard to find and works for storage. Something that doesn't stick out like a sore thumb. You do know locks exist? Makes it difficult to open things you know. There are thousands of ways to hide things - so why in an apocalyptic world are you limited to hiding your things in the open for all the hellish world to see and plot on? Entrenching tool can dig pits, hatchets can cut wood to cover those pits with, leaves can be pushed atop said wood. In three easy steps you have a hard to find cache! Underground hideaways, weapon pits, camo box with locks, code combination lock boxes, holes, hide in rubble, hide it in cut logs, hide in a locked house, hide it in a locked shed, locks. It's a great game but there can be no progression when everything you've worked for is taken away without a second thought or anything to stop it.

    Pending Update: Build 1.7.2.4

Don't rant. It's annoying. I read like maybe 2 lines. And guess what if you read the posts it says that it will be either tonight or most likely Tuesday. Hence the Tuesday on the 1st post. He didn't release it because they were working on possible issues that were pointed out on this thread and then later said depending on how the fixes go it will either be yesterday[Wednesday], tonight[Thursday], or Tuesday because they don't want to release it over the weekend. P.S. Actually I care more about these fixes than hackers honestly. Hackers are an issue, but you obviously don't know how difficult it is to secure a game from hackers that you didn't even make, let alone one that you did. P.P.S. If you think there is a hacker leave the game, telltale signs include, explosions, jets, helicopters, people raging over hackers, a large number of people leaving at once, etc... Thinking, it works.

    No Servers appearing on list

Yup gamespy/hive is down or something. Would've been nice to see some sort of notification.

    Pending Update: Build 1.7.2.4

I disagree with everything except durability, number of zombies, and duping. Everything else is fine as is. It's not about making the game super-realistic, it's about creating a fun, hardcore experience. Zombies being smart? Doesn't make sense, they're dead, they have no intelligence, only instinct. The guns make DayZ, DayZ. It would be purely a running simulator if you take away the number of guns and going into town would be retardedly difficult. Too much food and water spawns? Absolutely not. The fact that you sometimes have die from food and water is enough. The threat isn't your metabolism, it's the apocalypse.

    Pending Update: Build 1.7.2.4

Thank you I was actually wondering how to do that. You just saved for a crap load of time. Thank god tents are being fixed, it's the main reason I've been hesitant to play.

Rocket, is there any word on the tents? Like is this even a priority right now or are you guys working on it or anything of that nature? As well as the zombie walking through walls glitch, as these are my two biggest worries in the game atm, other than hackers.

Isn't alt+f4 a windows command shortcut? Not a game shortcut so logging it would be difficult. That's probably why. Logout timers aren't for games like this too many random variables to take into account. The character staying in game has been tried before, it failed so an alternative approach is being attempted.

This doesn't work from a gaming point of view. People have things to do, work to work, things to eat, bowels to evacuate and we can't always take the extra time needed to log out in a "safe place." Besides safe is a relative term in DayZ. One I really don't see used that often.

Ah, indeed. It seems I am as bad as the media, I misunderstood what you were trying to say. So good. Awesome, I'm glad no drastic measures are being taken.

Listen I don't exactly understand how this is an issue in the slightest. You have nothing when you spawn, you are absolutely no threat. Suicide is the only way to meet up with friends who spawn 100 km away without wasting hours and hours of time. If you are going to get rid of suicide then please, PLEASE implement a way to meet up with friends easier. Friends often live in close proximity, so they should spawn in close proximity, friends would group up. And playing with friends, is the only kind of cooperation you will get in this game. It's lore friendly, people would kill themselves under such a stressful situation as a zombie apocalypse. There really should be no issue with this at all.

I completely agree. Getting banned is a little overboard, it's a minor exploit, albeit an annoying one, but it doesn't ruin someone's day like hacking. The only thing it does is prevent you from being killed for your loot, which people use as a "survival mechanism" unjustly. But that's what it is another way to survive, and you got to do what you got to do to survive. I don't do it myself, it's too anti-immersive and it's against the rules but it shouldn't be a bannable offense.

But then you'll have to disconnect then reconnect to live again, thus giving you a significant cooldown. I don't think this cooldown thing is going to work.

    Pending Update: Build 1.7.2.4

What about dying, will we have to sit through a cooldown because we died and are forced to d/c and r/c. Also, what about finding servers that aren't lagging, people are going to switch through them to find a suitable server. As well as leaving hacked servers, personally I don't want to be in a server that is being hacked. There are too many reasons to switch servers, I personally don't like this. I'd rather have some kind of boolean "inCombat" thing that toggles true and false depending on if in combat "with another survivor, zombies aggroing is too random atm for implementation" and add the cooldown for when you log out when being shot at. Makes more sense to do it that way, instead of the incapacitated add cooldowns.

Add new types of loot buildings

I agree... more lootable buildings but a slightly decreased spawn chance to compensate. Or just more lootable buildings(different than the ones already) with same spawn chance.
  25. For you to say that just doesn't cut it. This is a game. Not real life. If he wants to program wind in and how smell travels through it then he should also program in things to find out which way the wind is blowing. You know what it should be as simple as. Having them move toward your general direction when within a proximity of say 30m. It would be better that way. But not much different.
