    How to make zombies scary

I agree completely. Though the zombie ai routines aren't exactly top notch in the performance or pathing department. It would be fairly taxing on the computer to implement a significant amount of zombies in an area. Zombies as they are now are just silly and laughable. They're constantly screaming at you when they chase you, they run away from you before at you, they stumble like they're injured but run faster than the Flash, and their animations like like they're having seizures and preforming karate. Obviously a lot of that is just bugs and in development but still I laugh half the time I see a zombie.

    Suggestion: Multiple Maps/*Lives*

That's not what's happening though. New features are constantly being added as are bugs. Nothing says this isn't a feasible suggestion by Rocket's methodology. And in my opinion Chernarus is fine, the map was already there before DayZ, so why not add another that suits the mod better?

New, Better Storage - Easy Possibilities

I completely understand that concept. But the futility of it all is overwhelming, the only motivation I have after getting all my crap stolen is to kill every single person I see. You should be at least given a decent chance. People should have to exert effort to take your things. Even in an actual apocalypse I can guarantee people aren't going to hide everything they own inside a tent. The whole game is about risk and reward. But there is no risk involved in plundering tents. Bear traps are coming but that's not going to stop anyone or anything. Just another griefing tool like barbed wire.

    Stuff in tents is gone

Okay. I hid my tent extremely well I highly, HIGHLY doubt my tent was raided within 12 hours. It was extremely out of the way and barely visible from anywhere even when you were within feet of it. Rocket has screwed something up or wiped all the tents. I didn't die, and it didn't get looted. It was within 12 hours on a low population server.
  5. I just thought of a different spawning system that would help with the immersion of the game possibly. Of course it's probably flawed but that's irrelevant, flaws can be ironed out. I searched and couldn't find anything too similar; if there is I apologize. Shouldn't take too long to explain. Summary: Being a survivor of this unknown infection that has been killing your neighbors and all life as we know and reanimating them into flesh hungry death machines you probably hid. A wise decision that paid off with your survival... for now. The spawning system as it is now spawns you as if you are a survivor of a shipwreck no of the apocalypse. Instead you spawn in a random house or apartment in one of the many coastal cities and villages. You realize that you need to gtfo as you can't stay barricaded forever and promptly search for supplies around your house to do so. Points: [1] Spawn in random house long coast (supposed to be "your" house). [2] At the mercy of the loot spawning system to give you what you need. [3] Can help avoid being killed at the coast (though just as likely for a bandit to be where you spawned) [4] Roll of the dice. May get a shotgun, may get an empty tin can. [5] Immersion. You probably hid in a house to survive not an ocean. [6] Spawn with nothing? Maybe, not sure if I like it. I thought it would spice up the spawning system a little and put a little more fear into bandits who camp buildings.

Passing out every time i log in

BTW it's not 2 minutes. It's 5. Either way it happens when you get shock; which I think is ridiculous it doesn't make sense, even after using an epi-pen the effect will persist multiple times.

    mags disappearing from inventory

Yup this is happening to me to. I was switching servers to find some good human hunting grounds which I eventually did... Only I had lost the 2 mags I brought somehow.
  8. chefwillis

    Zombies still coming through walls

    Confirmed. Happens ALL the time.
  9. chefwillis

    Spawning in the air!

Happened to me as well confirmed. I just managed to abort about a foot in the air to avoid a bugged death.
  10. Confirmed to delete items.

    My Hopeful Suggestions

Now we all know DayZ is flawed as are all games. You might think it more so than most games; such is the nature of alpha. But to improve it I think a couple of suggestions may help improving this mod even more. Anyhow here are a few suggestions I'm throwing out there. Some may be viable some maybe not so much. Item Storage/Protection 1. As it is now tents are very easy to stumble upon and are very easy to spot. The camo of the tent is absolutely negligible by the contrast of the surrounding environments. I can spot a tent from across the map and nothing is going to stop me from looting it. But this also means everything I loot has the very probable potential to be looted right back from my own tent. So I'm suggestion a re-camo'ing of tents to make them better blend it. 2. As I said before tents are very easy to spot so I was thinking since in real life tents are really not used to store items in general why not other storage systems. Like perhaps an item pit? I'm thinking if I really wanted to hide something I wouldn't store it in a tent... I would store it in a hole camouflaged by a covering of stable branches and leaves to actually BLEND IN. With my trusty entrenching tool and simple hatchet if would dig a hole cover it up with sticks and leaves and it would be hard as hell to find. Sure it may require more than just that in-game to build for balancing issues but it would help A LOT. All it would really have to be is a texture of leaves laden atop the landscape. 3. Permanent item storage. Simple - it doesn't make sense for tents to despawn after you die. This is DayZ you die quite often. There needs to be a way for you to be rewarded for surviving long enough to acquire any gear. Simple reward - being able to keep what you didn't die with. So make tents permanent and if server processing gets hunkered down by it why not just limit it to 2-3 tents per person per server. It could even encourage cooperation that seems to be absolutely absent by forcing you to get other people to put up tents if you want to acquire a substantial amount of good loot. 4. Bags are flawed any can get annoying with the bugs that seem to always occur. So how bout asking if I want to drop my very rare sniper before I accidently drop it for trying to put in some ammo. No prompt otherwise if I press the "drop" button or use the arrows to purposefully drop it. 5. Okay if you don't like my other suggestion about the item pit. How about giving us some viable protection against looters. Sandbags - pointless. Barbed wire - used only to troll. How about some traps? Trip-wire? Trap pits? Hell anything would be great if it prevents some ass from stumbling upon my tent and taking what I slaved for hours to acquire. As long as it doesn't become the new and improved barbed wire troll tool. Zombies 1. Zombies are zombies. They do not gain muscle. They are dead flesh. They are not marathon runners nor are they the Flash. They are decomposing flesh bags of unimaginable horror. Their leg muscles that have been chewed at, shot at, cut at should not be able to challenge a bike's speed in a flat out run. Zombies run extremely fast to a point of ridiculousness. While this may just be compensation for their stop and swing attacks it still doesn't make any sense or even compensate properly as they still probably won't hit you. It just makes them extremely hard to shoot while they're running, makes them look silly, running from them is impossible - your only hope is to run in and out of a building and hope they don't see you through the building on your way out.(By the way they still see through walls) 2. Why the hell do they serpentine? They are dead. They are zombies, not trained in the art of avoiding being shot at. I needn't say more. This may just be poor pathing but it would be nice to see this corrected in future updates. 3. Since when does a broken finger, hand, wrist, arm, should, rib, bone in general mean two broken legs? And why can a zombie even break a femur with decomposed muscles? It's the strongest and biggest bone in our bodies. The whole breaking of legs makes no sense. Even if I broke one leg while being attacked it shouldn't incapacitate my other. I have adrenaline and a preference of not being eaten alive to keep me running on one leg despite a horrible broken second leg. My simple suggestion is make the breaking of legs much more uncommon or just simple acts of falling and make it so you break first one leg(to put you in crouching mode) then two(prone). 4.The very first hit, every time, without fail causes me to bleed on my newly spawned character. There goes my only bandage. There goes my hope of survival. Not sure if this is a bug or intended but either way i'd like it gone. 5. They scream in my ear too much when I'm being chased. I know a zombie is chasing me... that's why I'm running no need to scream at me. Why can zombies use their lungs again? I understand it helps a player know he is in a very real danger but... at least make it happen less when you are being chased. Damage and Stuff Like That 1. Why do you bleed so much from a scratch? Is every survivor a hemophiliac? Why doesn't our blood clot? Since when could a fingernail pierce my arteries? Maybe a bite. But it should still have an actual chance of stopping. I'm pretty sure this has been implemented. But I've never seen it work. Ever. How can I even use my bandage if I'm constantly being chased? Maybe from a gunshot wound - that makes sense. But zombies not so much. 2. Fall damage. Three feet in the air kills me. What? 3. Shock - this makes no sense. At all. Just get rid of it in my opinion. Too many bugs associated with it and there is no logical cause. 4. I forgot the rest. Banditry 1. Sometimes being an asshat is great! I know. It's a great way to vent your rage from losing everything you ever owned to another asshat. My only issue with it is that it's so damn concentrated in the NW Airfield, Cherno, and Elektro. I understand why these locations but that's not what I'm asking for. I would like to simply thin-out the crowd of butt pirates to other places where good loots spawns. Simply put give more places where survivors can gather decent loot so bandits have to pick and choose where they want to hunt. Not sure if this is really the appropriate section but it's here. I want more places where I can find a decent amount of military loot other than NW Airfield. I want more places where there are just heaps of loot that you can get. Not too much to unbalance the game and all. Just enough to avoid the 93% chance of getting sniped at one of those loot spawns. Perhaps... a 79% chance would be more appropriate. Survivors and General Gameplay 1. Night is bad to the point of unplayable. Sure it's scary and thrilling but without NVG's it is a completely unviable way to play a game. If I can't see a foot in front of me why can zombies? Both our vision should be zero. Other than that I probably still wouldn't play at night, way too dark. 2. Please god PLEASE give me a reason to cooperate. Time and time again I've been killed by people while I'm shouting friendly over the mic and I just spawned. No one has the incentive to group up with anyone. It's a free-for-all and I don't like it. There is no reason another person should group up with another person or at least so it seems. No one cooperates everyone kills. I have no idea how to fix this but I'd like to see it happen. Maybe some perks for cooperating, some buffs? Idfk. 3. I hate barbed wire it does nothing but troll players please be rid of it. _____________________________________________ Well that's everything I could think of. It would be amazing if some of this were taken to heart or considered. I love DayZ and would love to see it become an amazing game but it can't get there without changing a little and evolving more so I hope these suggestions will contribute to that. Thanks for your time if you read it. :D

    My Hopeful Suggestions

It sucks to type all this out and not see anyone respond. Probably way tl;dr but what would be the point if I didn't explain the reasoning.

Passing out every time i log in

Keep happening to me too despite being epipenned every time. It's extremely annoying.

    Wire fence artifacts at night

The wire fence is now causing artifacts at all times even across a city. Confirmed by 3 friends who are playing with me. The amount of artifacts is very annoying and alot of times blocks out everything you see.

    Killed By A Door

ALMOST got killed by a door when I had amazing loot. It would be nice if bleeding from a door being slammed into your face/toes/hand wouldn't cause infinite bleeding and deadly injuries. I didn't know my limbs were vital organs. Also the door broke my legs and put me in shock. Rocket, please fix?
