I got curious with this thread :). How about a little poll? https://goo.gl/forms/cdJXAxZr3kUa4wKR2

Accidental disconnects would make you reconnect to find a shelter and then disconnect. I believe that the effect should be a long one, and only be "lethal" when its very cold or you're far in the woods with wolves and stuff. Yup, the time elapsed should effect, like for example minimum 8 hrs to add the weather effect, and another X hours to add the cold, hypothermia messages, etc. IRL people dont die in 2-3 hours neither :) Yes there are/will be very cold days, but I dont think that going so extreme would help (at least not in most servers, hardcore ones might love that tho), the fact of having you searching for shelter for the night would be enough to add that "spark" to the game without the fireplace and interior temperature added to the mix. Infected should not affect one, since when you find a good spot to "sleep" you can assume your character locks the door and makes sure no one enters while he's sleeping :). The idea wasn't meant for people to come to populate areas, but to plan their route taking in count their "sleeping time". It doesn't make the game more difficult, you just search for a shed or sleep in one of your camps. Also this is not an idea for public ez servers, would be more suited for the hardcore ones :) PS. i really hope someone makes a zomboid mod for dayz with all the features that game has :D

31. Hope to grow up to be like green_mtn_grandbob some day :D Yeah, people younger than 25 don´t understand forums mostly. They got used to the raw pre-filtered info flow of facebook, instagram, reddit, twitter, etc. The high level of organization forums have isn{t valued by them, they just want to see what others like. If I listen to my paranoid self, that was planned to keep people in a permanently distracted system where they have troubles to organize and keep track of discussions that could evolve to system-threatening levels :P
-
Seriously, i'm expecting to have the best game ever :D
-
I don´t think it will affect the PVPers, they will use it to know where people is to get to action faster, or to brag about the people they killed :v
-
We only have like 5 channels. The spamming is felt starting with 15-20 players (been playing a lot of RP lately). Indeed it would boost the interaction #, but the quality will decline considerably, since people doesn´t get the radios for an ingame purpose being ready to use it, but will just do random stuff with it -.-.
-
Why it is harder and harder to have interactions ?
exwoll replied to Mantasisg's topic in General Discussion
yeah, I´d been playing in a private server with 30-60ppl most of the time and have been alive for like 2 months already. Only approached to like 5 people in that time, seen a lot wandering around, but when you know how to move around without being seen is rare the case when you pop into pvp players, and when you do is as much of a surprise for you and for them, so they run to find cover before trying to shot you, and by that time you are already gone. -
They dont look for batteries because they don't need them (they dont use radios, nor flashlights). The only ones that constantly looks for them are the ones that use a radio (as myself) or the end gear people that need power for their scopes and the snipers for their rangefinders. If you give everyone a radio, everyone will start noticing them and picking them up. And as I said, you only need a couple of hours looting to get your hands on 2-3 of them. In this scenario you end up with a lot of people with a lot of radios and a lot of batteries to power them indefinitely (my current character have a radio with the same battery for the last 2 weeks, and I turn the radio frequently to check if there are some bambis in the city I plan to loot or a player is really close to me (by the background noise). You will have to reduce the spawn rate of batteries or their longevity, which will really suck for all other uses that a battery has.
-
You know functioning batteries are common, they spawn literally in any place and can be found if one looks well enough. Having a functioning battery with you all the time isn´t so hard. So that´s not a valid point
-
True all the emergencies services people have one in real life. Infected are people, so they should have the last things they had before going mad.
-
This is what I call a good solution! :D Maybe making the spawn rate of radios in the police/medic/firefighter infected higher will fix this.

More use for the middle mouse wheel with new player controler
exwoll replied to massacrorBKK's topic in Suggestions
circling the wheel could change the item you have in hands based on your hotkey placement too. -
Thats a quite douchy move. Would rather have an optional side-chat that I can chose to turn on or not, than just not picking up any radio and killing the immersion of talking with someone after taking all the work to get one. Everyone happy that way :)

The issue is real with server chat, but I believe this could be done in a separate "feedback window" where there could be little chat, and instead of that a couple of feedback options like: Are you experimenting troubles? Communicate to the administration: I have lag bubbles I have desync issues Ping to server went crazy Hacker spotted (provide some details maybe) Found bug or map issue etc This would allow the info to be easily compiled and presented to the server admins to take notice when a given number of people is experiencing the same problem. But overall I believe that radios as spawn items it will negatively impact the post-apocalyptic atmosphere: One of the most immersive and remembering moments in the DayZ experience is the initial sense of the unknown you feel upon spawning in the middle of nowhere, you have no idea where you are, you see no one around, you move, a lot, and then see someone in the horizon, you run towards him and find out that he attacks you, he's an infected. You loot around, feel somehow lonely as you would IRL in a similar situation, and then you find a radio! Yay, a way to communicate with another human being, You loot a little bit more, and find a battery, you plug it in, and there you are connected with someone else. Spawning with a radio will totally ruin all that magic that a player experience when he spawns, specially the new players. Imagine how immersion breaking gonna be to spawn, turn the radio ON and hear/read all the 60 ppl that are playing the server at the same time? It will be the same side-chat or kill count that we had before: People will do random trolling, communicate their killers locations, brag about their kills, etc, etc. I would rather have a hidden/optional sidechat instead of ruining the radio communication experience in the game if it comes to that. However I'm 100% for the revamp of the batteries system: Spawning in broken radios (walkie talkies or just the radios that are in houses) Spawning batteries in gas stations, supermarkets, in apartments (they should be quite common) but apply their state Spawning batteries in shiny orange packages (as you would find them in real life) Creating radio stations in big cities with some old equipment that could be used for communication Making one able to pick the radios that spawn in houses and be able to catch some communications Fixing the batteries so that pristine ones work longer and the rest for a much shorter amount of time and adjust their rarity based on the state. NOTE: Since we´re in Alpha this can be tested to see how it would work in a real life scenario. Maybe with beta when people numbers gonna go up. Also I was mostly referring to hardcore servers. Public easy ones can have that without any issues since people plays there casually and it doesnt matter if you want to have a chat with 60ppl while you're looting alone.
-
Woohoo hype!!! :D PS. Pls no radios -.-
-
I would add here that: - Apples: You search for apples in a tree once, if it´s negative - there are no apples in the tree. When results positive you can keep searching till the 3rd negative message in row. - You cant sprint more than 10min straight. - You don´t go to military areas since in RL they would be occupied by dangerous people and they would be probably empty anyways since gangs will raid them as soon as they can. -

Who likes playing with the mod OST? Need a beta tester :)

Have a small program to add an ost to the game. Anyone willing to offer his blood as sacrifice? -
Why it is harder and harder to have interactions ?
exwoll replied to Mantasisg's topic in General Discussion
I believe that the fact that new games came out that attracted most of the casual playerbase is the reason for this. The only ones left playing are mostly veterans and survival people who know how to play the game and avoid being seen. You almost dont find bambis anymore because players live longer and know how to survive, which includes reducing unnecessary travel to high traffic areas and mostly are in the forests. -
Hi and thanks for giving humanity such a wonderful map to play ! :D I believe my questions would be the same as everyone else: Are there any map extensions planned in the future? We've seen the possibilities of BI map creation tools with the A3 Australia map and its mindblowing 1600 sq. km (7x the size of Chernarus+) :D What are your thoughts on the seasonal changes of the map. So far we've seen that your team is approaching this really carefully and with every detail step by step (vegetation changes, etc) What would you dream to see in the maps created by future modders? Would you adventure yourself to create a map?

I don't believe that they gonna miss 1.0 by a year. This time they already have everything in place and it's just matter of building the backlog lego and polishing all the features so it looks somehow enjoyable. I'm actually more hyped about .63, since they're now working on both paths at the same time, I would expect .63 to come really fast after all the feedback from .62 bugs is done. And we don't have a lot of info about what's gonna be implemented on .63, since they really have A LOT of stuff they promised in the game features :3
-
Yeah. I would say that the whole discussion is useless, as we only have to check PZ to see what works with character value. I just saw the game after your post, and it's really amazing how detailed and realistic is everything there! Even the skill system I would dream to have in DayZ. Even if Dayz just takes 50% of what PZ has would make it the best survival game out there.

We should be able to craft raincoats, from leafs or woven. Sometimes it's really difficult to find one, and when the climate gets colder, or it rains more often. Some examples: Leafs/woven raincoats Leather Poncho (Wolf of Thorns suggestion) Animal Gut raincoat Tarp Poncho (Game in Theory + Amondian suggestion) Even a plastic bag Or even umbrellas should be available too :)
-
yeah, also tarps and plastic bags could be used to craft weapon protection against rain. That would be really useful once devs implement weapon decay and water starts affecting them!

Added your variable too

basically everyone will just go to the official ones. Public is public.
