So you bitch'd out cause you couldn't handle the zeds. Afterwards you get shot and try to tell us you "embraced it like a man"? I'd say you must be trolling. But in fact many people "combat log" (lol) when PvP or even PvE is near to take away their lovely gear.

Hello unknown newbie whose name I forgot, you met me and 2 of my mates yesterday near Cherno. You came from the woods to the north, saw a cow and wondered if u could loot anything from it. Up to this point you were entertaining us somehow and none of us would've shot you. Also, all of us were convinced you were unarmed. Then, you made an epic mistake. You decided to sprint just insight Cherno right in the direction where I was prone, surrounded by at least 5 zeds. Your running would've attracted the zeds, leaving us no other choice than putting some well-placed m16/ak74 bullets into your body. Sorry dude. We actually felt horrible for the kill as you were obviously just getting to know some basics in Chernarus. Chances are few you will read this, but if you do, please consider it was your own fault. We're neither into Player killing, nor did we want to break your game experience. Keep on going and please don't feel screwed.

Yeh right. Not a week ago me and my mate were killed on server login. For no reason. Too bad I had just found an M4A1 before and already had at least acceptable gear. We were cursing. We got over it. We started a new run. Yesterday another mate logged in, fell through the ground (lol) and died. MP5SD, AK74 Kobra, G17 and some excellent gear... GONE. He was cursing. He got over it. He started a new run. :)

I'm a bit worried about the bear traps tbh. One more tool the griefers will love, as if barbed wire isn't enough already. I hope our beloved devs will implement a way to unarm the traps, too. Otherwise there is a high chance that building blockers will enjoy themselves even more. But well.. I'll stop being negative for now. Was just guessing what might happen. Will watch out from now for new update to be released. I'm excited.

The definitive VEHICLE SPAWNS thread
FFrank replied to MR DELICIOUS's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
it's about time that parking cars off the map is going to be fixed. We all know on many clan-hosted servers you will never come a cross a car. Just because these people think they have to horde them all, except for bicycles maybe. Sad thing is as I saw on some YouTube videos, they horde up to 10 or more cars there while using 2 at a time at maximum. So they just have them to hide their stuff inside, 20+ km off map? Oh well.. this needs a fix asap. Nuff said. -
Stupid thread. There are more servers that actually DON'T support 3rd Person View than servers having it enabled. :dodgy: I wonder what your problem is. Head for a Veteran/Expert server, in most cases they will have 3rd person view locked so you can play how you like to. Maybe YOU don't like 3rd person... but well, there are lots of players including myself who find it horrible to use 1st person while crouching through zombie-infested areas. Just saying: You don't like it? Alright, it's okay. Just don't try to screw up the game for people who like and use 3rd person.
-
Appreciated. You're Batman, indeed, bringing at least some justice back to ChernoGotham! I would've loved to see the face of that prick carrying 2 snipes while getting hacked in the back... Ahh, that must've been delicious.. and yeah, that might be called successfull backtrolling.

Allow this game some time. I'm pretty sure devs are aware of this and as rocket himself said it was not intended to be that much pvp as it is, they probably have already thought a lot about how to un-bore the PKs who destroy the experience of those who just start. I'm with you OP, but consider there have to be new mechanics to handle this, and balancing these mechanics may take even more time.

I dislike all the PVP for the lulz and stuff. It's neither a challenge nor is it funny to shoot unarmed/new/helpless people. If someone shoots at you first, kill that guy, that's legit. When you start in the south, you will try to avoid PVP as much as possible. Getting up north, teaming up with some friends or random friendlies, also having a bit of luck on the loot spots you'll come across will soon bring you in a position where PVP is the only real challenge left. I'm just experiencing this with my group. We got so much of food, drinks, medi, ammo and also found some decent weapons. Hunting knifes and water bottles would allow us to stay out of cities forever if we wanted to. No need for raiding supermarktes or such. Right now it's like this.. many people will get to this point after playing some days without dying. Once the point is reached there's only one more challenge: Heading f.e. NW to the airfield, most probably to die in a shootout with bandits. I dunno if we're really going to hunt bandits now.. maybe we'll just travel around till we've seen all of the villages and cities, then head to NW airfield to die there as there is no more challenge. I'll probably take a break from DayZ afterwards, hoping there will be more "end-game" things to do, maybe in 1.8? Would love that.

[sarcasm on] OH YES WE NEED SILENCER FORS SNIPERS. THIS GON BE SO MUCH FUN. [/sarcasm off] Damn, what the frick is wrong with you guys...? Sigh. IF there was dampered snipers the majority of players will likely play a sniper until this game has about 80% snipers. This will end up the game in absolutely no movement anymore as that 80% will do nothing else but camp and snipe. Snipers will become near to undetectable with dampers while killing players that don't have a sniper. This would be the MOST BORING GAME EVER. My suggestion: Reduce amount of sniper rifles, heavily decrease their spawnrate so its much harder to get them. They're already annoying you right now, once you leave South Coast heading north. I guess OP maybe was in a rage after getting killed by a sniper, too. I do not wish to get rid of the snipers totally but it would be nice to see less of them.

One of my group currently uses this gun and I think it gives you a blast in close combat situation (most common zombie chasing you). Really strong, good shotty. Those common 2Rnd Slugs can be combined to 1 mag of m1014 slugs if you got 4 of them 2Rnds, then you'll be able to do that via right-clicking the 2Rnd slugs in your inventory. This is also one big benefit of this gun: it doesn't really need you to loot ammo for it, but if you do, you will probably never get out of ammo on this one.

Yeah u should definitely stop hopping. It's stupid, it's noobish and it's even some kind of cheating when you keep in mind that u literally extend your lifetime by sever hopping. If you got balls and think you can do this, CAMP the spot for 15 minutes until new loot spawns. Also it ain't that clever to praise your stupid behaviour while at the same time accusing someone else to be the "horrible" one. Just stupid.

Today I was looting my first deer stand ever, and was like WOW, REALLY, an M4A1? Damn, I must be a lucky bastard I thought. Then got a call, laid down and had to log out for approx. 10 minutes. Then joined another server, as I couldn't remember first server's name. I spawned, got up on my feet again, suddenly out of nowhere a zombie spawned 2m left of the deer stand and insta-aggro'd at me. This happened within 5 secs after logging in, causing me to panic-logout again, although I don't consider logging out to avoid danger usually. As far as I was concerned the zed didn't hit me before I disconnected. Joined next server, then something weird happened. My friend and me, laying down next to each other, both died on logging in. We couldn't even see why, but afterwards found ourself in debug woods with not a tiny amount of others players being there. Left the server, to report it was Atlanta 17 killing us on login, we lost a Makarov, an M4A1, lots of medic equip, really good amounts of food and more. After all we just lol'ed.. but also being a bit disappointed, thats just normal I guess. Took us 5 minutes to decide for a fresh start as we understood rule #1 in Chernarus: "Don't get too attached to your gear." Maybe in the future it will be possible not to lose it because of these strange bugs, I'm not complaining, just saying that once there will be no or at least quite less unpredictable deaths this game will be even more amazing.

I've come across a lot of barbed wire in areas with decent loot, mostly areas which are rather popular so right now there are fresly spawned people running into Elektro who can't enter some of the best loot spots in town apparently because some dick decided to keep this house for himself. Yeah, you can server hop, to get behind it, but why should you? Only to get into that one spot, risking to get shot by the barb griefers who just arrived back from their server hopping session? No way. On some servers, there are whole parts of a town/village which are completely blocked due to barbed wire spamming. It's becoming boring and annoying and makes me want to change server. Not to get past the barbed wire, just because I hate people abusing game mechanics to grief others.

why do people have difficulties starting w/o weapons
FFrank replied to Tikka (DayZ)'s topic in New Player Discussion
In the beginning i thought this was a zombie including FPS which is mostly based on PVP. And maybe it really was in the past, I guess so, but didn't play these builds. Spawning with no weapon could actually suck and would possibly make me surrender soon, I thought. I couldn't imagine having fun being unarmed in Chernarus, then I got into the game. I was terribly wrong, and I feel good to know now how badly wrong I was. I've crawled around at least 50 zombies in about 4 hours, while already having a weapon. It's exciting. Also I LOVED how helpless I was in the beginning, feeling threatened by everything moving anywhere. Just me and my flashlight, lol. This is an outstandig experience if the player can get INTO it. And even though I got lots of bullets with me I never shoot unless it is absolutely necessary. I love the smart zombies, they really scare me when they change their direction towards mine while I'm slowly crawling around them. DayZ's infected right now are the threat they should be. Really great job here! What is worrying me a bit is that to me it is really hard to get food. Supermarkets now have even more become places of total PVP because there isn't that much food anywhere else. Even I think there could be more food in residential loots, I also like this somehow. If there was a z-apocalypse, I'm pretty convinced people wouldn't mind killing each other in stores to gather the food needed to stay alive. To close this lovesong, let me say: DayZ as it is now, especially your very own beginng, is more an experience than only just a game. It's a gory, brutal and thrilling survival trip, not just a shooter. Sometimes have to remember myself it's still Alpha because there is already very much things that fit and work perfectly for me. -
Hi, I've tried to get DayZ running in and it works, so far. I'm not complaining about having bad FPS here, as I don't really have an FPS issue. It sounds weird but I get some kind of FREEZE mostly for around 1-3 seconds from time to time. I NEVER experienced this before, my PC has yet handled any game without having to stop motion for some seconds now and then. What I tried to fix it yet: -Installed DirectX Version from Arma 2 directory -Defrag'd the hard drive where the game is located -Downloaded and installed latest Nvidia Driver -Uninstalled Arma 2 and Arma 2 OA from Steam, and then re-downloaded and re-installed them -Of course also deleted DayZ and re-downloaded it -Changed 5.1 sound on my sound card to stereo Well NONE of this fixed my issue. I'm not sure what I could try to do now. Game right is now unplayable for me as I said my FPS are okay or even good, but freezing for 3 seconds at least every 5 minutes is totally destroying any chance to enjoy this game. :-/ To me it doesnt seem like my hardware isn't strong enough, I think it might be some ingame checks (server sided?) which somehow slow me down anytime. But just guessing.. I would like to hear any suggestions... I'm tired of wasting my time on doing things that don't help... yeah, issue might be related to my system but to be honest I highly doubt that. Thank you for any helpful advice.

yes bigphil225 is right I also got it fixed that it way. SixLauncher causes the freezes, just close it after you picked a server. Issue resolved :)

I agree to mcf. Imho Elektro and Cherno are more dangerous than ever before because of the loot rebalancing. Known loot spots might spawn different things than before. All those empty tin cans spawning seem to let players become desperated, which makes them even more try to kill other survivors. Was in Elektro yesterday, got some nice loot there that was worth the visit but there were at least 3 people shooting all over the place, I was lucky to get out alive with all the good stuff I found. I did not fire any shots, this might have saved my life. I don't think 1.7.1.5 loot system/spawn needs to be fixed, neither I think it's a bug, I guess it's quite realistic that you will see lots of trash in an apocalypse scenario.

Frequently hotfixes making the game unplayable.
FFrank posted a topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Dedicated to rocket and his helpers running this awesome mod; Please take a break from rolling out new Hotfixes. It's too frequently right now and makes the game unplayable for the majority of players. Why you ask? Because a lot (not all, but a lot) Server admins are not updating their servers right after updates hit SixUpdater/Launcher which FORCES us players to use the newest update. Unfortunately, Server admins aren't forced to install new updates in time. So there is no use for having the latest patch when servers still run old versions... for hours and hours. I mean yeah, now I'm always running the newest patch, thats cool and I like it cause its comfortable, but it's not that cool to be unable to play as it takes around 4, 6 or even 8 hours until at least 70% of the servers are updated. In the meantime those servers that were updated quickly are either being protected or impossible to join due to lack of slots. I know this is ALPHA status and I'm sure there are also some admins really caring to always update their serv asap. I just think EVERY player would benefit if server updates could be done quicker than they are done right now. Last 2 days were like this (in CET) Yesterday: Played a bit in the afternoon, hotfix 1.7.1.3/4 released on early evening. Nearly no servers running this for about 6 hours. Unplayable. Today: Played a bit in the afternoon, hotfix 1.7.1.5 released in the evening. Nearly no servers running this for about 4-5 hours. Unplayable, again. I don't mind if there is 2, 3 or 5 weekly hotfixes as long as they improve the game and performance, and I think they do! But if you plan to release updates that frequently in the future, please look after your server admins to be faster than they are right now. That would be very appreciated. Regards -
Frequently hotfixes making the game unplayable.
FFrank replied to FFrank's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Well, not to put to fine a point on it but yes, I am usually trying to stick a thumb into the eye of posters like yourself. In game, I am currently In the latest version, lying in the rain under a pine tree near Rog castle. I have been playing every day that I wanted to since I discovered the mod. I will hand hold you through. Hot fixes, as rocket has chosen to call them, or patches, deal with fixes to current issues with the code. They are released on a schedule entirely at the whim of the developers. We cope. We play when it works, and wait when it doesn't. I happen to be adept at making anything work, so far. Server admins ae usually doing this as a hobby. You see, grown ups have these things called "jobs". They have reasons for doing what they do. Perhaps they prefer 1.6.x and so choose not to update. It's their dime. If you'd like, please, grab a server somewhere and update it lightning fast! For me, I updated immediately via torrent and patiently connected to one of the dozen or so servers available almost immediately. After working for a couple of hours, I am back playing. Next time a patch comes out, do your self a favor and wait a couple of days before trying to play. You will have more servers at your disposal that way. I will already have two days of fun logged by that time, but that's life. You owe me two degrees of temp as I lay in the bushes responding to this silliness. What are you? Responding silliness? Sure you're not PRODUCING silliness? Dude, I nearly began to like your own strange form of nerd humour but then realized how immature you are. "There is grown ups, having these things called jobs." and all the rubbish you were writing down afterwards. In fact, I'm Server Admin myself at two different, popular games. Sure, they're not in alpha anymore so it might be a litte less work to do there. But in fact I'm paying these servers from my own money I worked for. I KNOW what debts Admins have. Next time you try to troll in thread you misunderstood in the beginning and then trolling to make yourself look less ridicolous, do yourself a favor and don't try to act like a boss telling the kids what to do. Ty. ________________________ @TheAlgerian I don't think that would be in rocket's intention, if many players revert anytime the devteam releases an update they have been working hard on... reverting might be a way to play if you absolutely can't wait, but I don't think this is how it was supposed to be. -

M107 Sniping competition in Cherno
FFrank replied to Paddy1991's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
It worries me how poor you are. Sorry to say but this is totally crap. How you can you be proud of that? It's so fuckin lame, it's not about skill or anything, players like you are breaking this game. I see, You were dropped by a friendly heli on this roof which not accessable for other players via foot, wow... you're well equipd shooting lots of unarmed people lookin to stop starvation/dehydration in Cherno, wow... you're playing in a group but only shooting single, unorganized survivors for the lulz, wow... Well the worst thing is that you name this a competition, but it's not. A competition is based on skills. Nothing you did in your SKILL COMPETION VIDEO had anything to do with that. -
Hi there, I think we both are having the same problem, as it sounds familiar to me. See my posting here: http://dayzmod.com/forum/showthread.php?tid=16538 Well, u see i tried a lot of stuff and even more, f.e. unplugging all unnecessary usb devices. I FINALLY GOT IT FIXED DUDE. It's the SixLauncher causing these freezes. Just start your game via SixLauncher and as soon as you have double-clicked a server, instantly close SixLauncher, don't let it run while you're playing! The game will start anyway, et voila, no more freezes for seconds anymore. This worked for me and I hope it works for you, too. Kind regards :)

Hello survivors, I am new (Hi!) and currently downloading Arma II CO via Steam. I tried to use the time needed for downloading to study some mod install guides, but all the different guides I found are really confusing me right now and I actually don't want to mess the game up because I followed some outdated guide or something. :-/ Therefore I'd appreciate anyone helping me out. I think I will manage to dl the mod files and put them in the right directory, but please explain to me what to do afterwards, as I don't know which beta patches, parameters and so on will be needed after the latest updates. I'll be running the game on 32-bit Win7, if that helps you to help me. Thank you in advance.
