Invisible wall, Good Hiding Spot XD
FFrank replied to bazzaro135's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Some days ago I spawned near Cherno, made my way to the apparments and saw an unarmed survivor using this glitch to escape from a zed. Too bad for him that the zed was still chasing and punching him through the wall. Thought a second about helping him by shooting the zed.. but then remembered I'm not going to support glitch-,bug-,exploit-,whatever users. So I shot the zed chasing him, then this guy comes out, I let him bandage himself and then take a well placed bullet from my AK-74 in his head. -

Tutorials seem quite useful, at least for beginners I guess. Good work so far. But one thing.. dude, your english pronunciation isn't half as good as you think. Only needed to hear you saying "Elektrozavodsk" and already knew you were german. You DO sound like a regular german guy even if your vocabulary is a bit better. Oh, and Schwarzenegger is austrian btw, not german. -
I'm experiencing quite bad FPS as soon as I get near Cherno/Elektro. Once inside the city, it usually constantly drops down to about 10-15 fps which is HORRIBLE in PvP situations. Outside Cherno/Elektro I usually have no performance issues and play around 30 fps. Frame Drops only occure in the big cities. What's the reason for this? Is there any way to fix this? I saw some people streaming on twitch who didn't have any frame drops when entering Cherno. Is it possible that this depends on the server you're playing on? I'm confused right now..

I do NOT wish to see a free2play model in DayZ. Buy an M4A1 Camo SD for 10$ a month or a SVD Camo for 15$ per month? Gosh NO, I hate free2play because these games always destroy the balancing only to generate cash... let us buy DayZ Retail copies for ~40$ and I'll be fine.

This guy is totally sick. All the screaming and swearing.. get some help man, srsly.

Equipments/gears you have with your current character?
FFrank replied to [email protected]'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion

Hi, me and some guys were thinking about having the same skin (colour) to better recognize each other. Got some questions now: 1. My current char is female, is it possible to change a female skin as well? Just wondering because I read somewhere that there were no female character models in Arma 2 originally. 2. If I was able to change my skin colour, would I have to hit respawn? It's Day 5 and I got some gear on me atm, you know, nobody wants to lose gear for dumb reasons :)

Skin Change possible without respawning?
FFrank replied to FFrank's topic in DayZ Mod Troubleshooting
Thanks for you replies guys. Too bad I'll have to die to change, but it's great news to me that male chars can be edited anytime without losing gear or having to respawn. -
My first murder and now I feel guilty
FFrank replied to [email protected]'s topic in New Player Discussion
If your group is big enough, your expetancy of survival is incredibly high. Started playing with one friend. Now we roll with 6-8 people which allows real tactial operations and movement. When me and my mate played the first days, we had no good guns, little amounts of food, medi and tools. The zeds had torn us apart more than one time. Many people tried to shoot us.. everywhere. It was scary but a great experience, even though it was quite hard to survive more than a week. Times have changed since then. Fixing cars, heading for heli crashsites or overtaking NWAF is what we've done lately. This is not comparable to a group of 2 survivors or even a lone wolf. In my opinion, playing in a group will nearly elminate the chance to starve/dehydrate and if you use decent tactics, it will be a great benefit on firefights as well. -
Just watched some DayZ streams on twitch and they all spoke about Ghillies and Camos being bugged in 1.7.2. Also it seems like u always spawn "new" in the spawn areas around the cast while still having your actual gear!? ... :-) I've learned from the last updates. I enjoy every single tear of users complaining because they died/char was corrupted/whatever. All because of the massive flood of players on a tiny amount of updated servers.. pretty predictable after you've seen it once or twice. Yeah, when a new update comes out, I take at least a day rest from DayZ. Patience is the key.

Gotta love the M1911. Zombie aggroing me, a short moment of silence - BAM, dead zed. Revolver is also useful but due to lower Rate of fire I prefer the M1911.

Author of the mod? He's an employee of Bohemia Interactive Studio (Creators of Arma 2) now. Chances are very high that DayZ will be ported to upcoming Arma 3, probably with some new engine tweaks and some better graphics. Google Bohemia and you will find out it's a small czech company having about 30 employees. Arma 2 is selling well atm, but you can't expect them to spend money in a total new engine for DayZ to be standalone. So, what you basically want rocket to do is to sell his great mod to companies like EA and such? I believe this would NEVER happen as long as Bohemia is alive. After I read some interviews and stuff, I'm pretty convinced DayZ is in the hands of some smart guys who know what they're doing.

A Radical PVP Game Change? Take Sniper Rifles Out.
FFrank replied to justwrath's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Very interesting suggestion! On one hand I'm with the OP: Having a gillie, sitting in a tree and sniping people from a mile away ist JUST LAME. It doesn't take much skill and it's totally unrealistic that there is tons of snipers in a zombie apocalypse. On the other hand Snipers have a disadvantage if they don't carry around a 2nd primary weapon, forcing them to rely on their sidearms in various situations. I'm not really sure if sniper rifles should be taken out of the game entirely. I'd rather suggest to have only 2 sniper rifles in the game instead of 7. These two should have a very rare spawn chance making them really hard to find, even in Military Barracks/ACTs etc. -
I love the PVP, but hate the zombies.
FFrank replied to jenson's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Ahhh... you like PvP but not PvE, yeah copy that. Very simple question: Why don't you go play something else than DayZ? Try ACE, like Zorg and Apos suggested. Remember, Devs stated that DayZ contains PvP, but ever since it was more focusing on PvE and teamwork... so if you're looking for some nice Arma 2 PvP, just don't play DayZ. Thanks. -
Yo, we got about 1000 threads around where newbies QQ because they're being shot at by all other "evil players". Now let me tell you some stories of yesterday. 1) We crossed the coast, got to the water to the right of Kamenka, me and 7 buddies loling and trolling around. Suddenly we see a survivor coming towards us, unarmed, chased by 4-5 zeds. We decide to help him, I yell "hey dude, get over here, we'refriendly, get on the ground, we will help you" over VON. So he does and we save his ass from death. Afterwards he is standing next to us, probably wondering where these 8 guys with AKs, M4s and stuff just came from :D We tell him not to follow us and wish him good luck, then he heads in another direction. We all felt GOOD afterwards cuz we were HELPING this new survivor. 2) Balota Airstrip. After running into an obvious Ambush near the ATC, I die and lose my 12-day old Char and some nice gear. A few mates are still around but I can't make it there in time to loot my body. The bandits who shot me seem to be gone. We scout the area, suddenly seeing a survivor with an axe. We speak to him, he claims himself friendly, he could've axe'd me but he didn't, so we let him be and approach the hangars, I find a shotgun and then return to the ATC where we met that axe guy. A second guy now seems to be with him on the ATC (dunno if he server hopped there?) but those two are now talking on VON that they don't trust me because they've been shot by others before. I'm responding: "Get out, I want to see you both laying down. Otherwise I will have to come up and shoot both of you. If I won't be able to, my mates around here will take care of you. Get out now and I won't shoot, I'm not trying to trick you." They both get scared and keep talking about coming down to murder me lol. Me and my mates decide to leave this place. One of us can't stand to investigate the ATC for a last time before leaving... dumb decision. Those 2 "friendlies" up in the ATC shoot him. Damn you homos. At least we shot one of them later in the woods, that felt good. What a newbie can learn from this: Don't act like a bitch when you say you're friendly. Don't hide from people after saying you was friendly. There isn't that much players out there like us, most would shoot you on sight. So if you meet some guys like us who DON'T kill on sight, don't try to trick them. You gonna regret it, be sure about that.

Meh dude I don't think it was you who killed me. I died due to an ambush at Balota Airstrip where a bandit managed sneaking behind me to take me out with 2-3 pistol shots.. Well yeh, this game is hard for newbies, you're right, especially when trying to survive on your own. Just tried to point out here that some newbies are literally forcing other players to shoot em because they don't behave appropriate. Don't take kindness for weakness.

Jemoeder thanks for the information, added NL 4 to my personal server blacklist. I heard about SoH before and thought it was a nice clan, but have to say I'm a bit surprised that NL 4's server admin who also seems to be part of SoH even admitted here that he has abused admin powers (maybe not in this case, but in general) while arguing "everyone else would do the same in that position". Gosh. This really makes the clan and the server look really immature. I'm not a friend or anything of Jemoeder, I'm not involved in this story here, but considering Server Admin stated that he abused his powers, I'd appreciate it if DayZ Staff would blacklist that NL 4 Server.

I would like you to play "Que sera, sera" in Cherno. Maybe you could also sing the lyrics while playing guitar, that would be so awesome.
-
It might not be most "realistic" those zeds killed you. But in fact many players lost their lifes this way cuz they were underestimating zeds. Zeds might be stupid in general (can't even run in buildings) but they always have a low to medium chance to knock you out if they get a lucky punch on you. If this would happen IRL, the one that knocked you down would instantly tear off your flesh, gory ripping off your inner organs for a nice munch in about seconds. It wouldn't be like passing out, losing maybe 50% of your health, then get back up half eaten and just shoot the zombie. well.. you lost your gear.. that's sad. Get over it.

Same here. Couldn't see where my mate was, on my screen he was stuck in a tree, he said he was walking right next to me on his screen. Then he teleported like 100m back where he came from, lol.. it was too much of a risk to play as I wouldn't even know if I shoot him in the face. PvE? Very risky. PvP? LoL, impossible. Wondering if this is still related to the DDoSing of today.. but servers seem to lag like hell, theres massive desyncing atm.

Hi guys, while playing DayZ today I thought a lot how we could get a solution to several problems related to the KoS mentality. Most postings I read were people stating to shoot on sight because they couldn't estimate if someone else was a thread or not. These guys don't like PKing. But often the lack of a thread indicator forces them to do it. So let me say I thought about something that would not break a bandits experience as well. Suggestion is easy: Add "Humanity" as a feature right below "Blood" in the debug box. I've set some values that may vary in your opinion, just to show some examples: Newly spawned Players (ALL, even dead bandits) start at 50 Humanity, giving them the COLOR YELLOW (NAME COLOR) Color will CHANGE when it reaches certain values: RED (HIGHLY DANGEROUS/BANDIT) -251 or less PURPLE (THREADFUL) -250 to 0 YELLOW (AVERAGE) 1 to 250 BLUE (FRIENDLY) 251 to 499 GREEN (MEDIC/VERY FRIENDLY) 500 or more Now the color can rise or fall, depending on what you do: -give blood transfusion to player +30 -give epi to unconscious player +20 -give painkillers to shaking player +10 -bandage a bleeding player +10 -wound player -10 each shot hit -kill (murder) a player -50 (in addition to wound, example 2 shot kill = -70) -kill a zombie +1 that last thing about killing zombies... I think your humanity shoud rise a tiny bit with each zombie you kill because its just natural to try to kill these things, but you could also argument that it would make your humanity fall by -1 each because you shooting zeds but once they were humans... PoV thing. Also if bandit skins would come back I'd say lets add +25 for each bandit you kill, but bandits would probably cry because everybody would hunt em for high humanity.. bandits would become rare and would have a hard time to trust people.. yeh u feeling this bandits? This is what survivors feel right now.. ;) Now, what I haven't mentioned yet, I think about the thread indicator as being ALLOWED by the players first. To get it to work, you sit next to each other then scroll to your mousewheel till it says "introduce". It would be like looking into the others eyes, their soul, for a second, afterwars "knowing" what they have done. Once done you will be able to see the color of this player, at least as long as he stays on the server, maybe longer or even forever, thats an arguable point. This indicator, as suggested, could... -make bandits "friendly" introducing themselves as a code red, then shooting the poor guy having a very good laugh -finally benefit people helping each other -solve the general KoS issue. If you're friendly, you will intodruce yourself, showing your color proving that you're friendly and haven't murdered tons of people yet. Bandits would still shoot on sight, but now it would even make sense! Why? because they wouldn't want others to know they're bandits! They were trying to keep their red secret ;) So well.. this is pretty much a raw suggestion, but I think it would generally add some kind of needed justice, helping to mangage KoS and I think it's pretty fair when every spawn returns you to your basic humanity. So you can start any run as bandit or survivor, it would still be up to you... Last thing I'd like to add I know it's a hardcore game, and this is not suggested to take off either pvp or other hardcore game aspects. Thanks for reading!

I wouldn't trust anyone near cities like Stary, well especially Stary! As Stary is not that "big" many people seem to underestimate it. If this is news to anyone; Stary is the best military loot point except from NWAF. Military loot usually attracts bandits, masses of bandits. You goin to stary, trying to friendly to others you spot in Stary? Damn, forget about it. I don't like to say this - I'm usually trying to play friendly whenever possible - but Stary is one of the few areas where you should not trust anyone, anytime.

Shooting everything you see isn't realistic...
FFrank replied to MperorM's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I'm totally with the OP, dunno what you PvP lovers try to point out here. In fact he's right. If there was a zombie apocalypse, NOT EVEN 30% of those who were alive would start shooting each other. IF people did, others would spread the word about them being murders, making them hostile for anyone friendly. But though, Bandit skin was taken away and the heartbeat sound is not a useful way to separate friendlies from murders. Game as it is is with nearly everyone shooting at others is EXTREMELY unrealistic, yeah haters, you can argue all the way but it won't lead you anywhere. As long as there is nothing that benefits grouping/teaming, f.e. some kind of group quests, this will be only be a zombie including deathmatch for many people. Furthermore, banditry right now is the easiest way to play and it won't even take much skill if you have a group of bandits. DayZ needs some humanity related changes. Not going to do changes? Okay, then give a bandit skin to everyone at 5th murder and remove the idea of "surviving" (Survivor) from this game. -
Been literally humiliated.
FFrank replied to [email protected]'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
This game does seem to attract more and more sociopaths. I've seen a stream 2 days ago where one was told to put down his weps and backpack, then being kidnapped by a guy in a car calling him his "new bitch", and that the kidnapped guy will be "his 4th wife". The guy took him far out near a low populated part of the shore to AXE him there. I mean it's cool if people start role playing as medic or something, but its definitely sick to see people living out their personal problems being a psycho/sadistic/sociopathic person in a video game that should be about surviving TOGETHER. Sure you cant ban someone only cuz this person is psycho, but I'd definitely get rid of all you sickheads, probably jerking with one hand while doing your shitmoves. -
Rocket is partially causing DC'ers
FFrank replied to Zeromentor's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
To me it seems like there already is at least a slight dc protection working. 1) Logged off at a deer stand to raid it twice. Loot it on first server, prone, logout. Spawning in next server, zombie out of nowhere spawns 5m in front of me, starting to hit me. Logged to prevent myself from real danger. Logged in next server, insta-died on spawning, making me learn my lesson about dcing. 2) A mate who only takes like 20 secs to get on a server hops some servers for us to find one with daytime. So he tries 2 or 3, then he logs into another, falling through the ground while in the middle of a field, dead. 3) A guy was laying prone on the tower of Balota Airstrip. We sniped him once from a high position, he dc'd. Some minutes later he comes in again, not bleeding, probably bandaged himself on another server. Another guy appearing shoots him from the position where we sniped him before. Again, he dcs. But coming back a few mins later makes him have a hard falling down to the ground from the top of the tower. He's dead. Can anyone confirm this, I mean it all could have been bugs as well but I don't think so, seems more like a DC protection that just kills you at a certain amount of DCing in a time period?!
