    Littering

    Yes, but adding all that clutter would mean that, for everyone to see it, the server needed to handle the data for each item and to each client. And knowing how many items are there used up by just one player, it would be too much. So that would probably overload and crash the servers easily, if not destroy them completely or explode.
  2. Haven't played in a while. Another thing when picking up items, not a bug but... you have to simply tap the key to put it into your inventory (clothing or backpack) and to pick it up into your hands you have to hold the key. Isn't it logical if it was the other way around? I mean, it would take more time and effort for you to put an item into some bag on your back than to simply pick it up. Just curious a bit why is that, and perhaps that's quality of life solution?

    Filling Barrels

    Filling a huge barrel, the speed should depend on what are you filling it from. With a jerrycan, it's the jerrycan's opening that's kind of too narrow and additionally its capacity is a really a small portion of a barrel. True what you say with water pump. Interesting small details but they didn't think about those couple of things I guess.

    Opinions on a kill cam?

    Dayz was always trying to be a different type of a game, in a same sense that there's no floating markers above enemy's head, that there's no easy map overview, no teaming up option and spawning in the same area with your buddy or anything like that. It's all down to luck and individual player's decision in any moment. It's supposed to be a gritty and authentic shooter with a sprinkle of RPG where "metagaming" is reduced to minimum. Minimum and not fully because of TS and Discord types of communication (you can still tell your buddies where and how you died etc.).

    I took a break from Dayz, again, and came back to it for the last weekend. Had a blast. Best 27 euros I've spent four years ago on a game, ever.
  6. Maybe it could help the balance if they were extremely rare or short lived due to being found mainly in bad condition (let's say). It should be impossible to fix it. I think given the scenario that it's realistic for it to be in the game, but I'm not sure if it's good for the game itself or should they be removed then. If the nights were dark but still possible to navigate through landscape, then okay. But again, it seems to me that this is one of the incentives for players who found them to play even when the night falls. So they can go on a "hunt" 24/7. I mean, the common thinking is if it's such a radical situation as in Dayz, you'd want to have a shelter to stay safe over night and move around and do things in the daylight. If you have NV, the options are more open, especially when solo. You wouldn't have to avoid your favorite server when you have time to play just because it's night time currently and nights are unplayable for you and you don't have the NV. There's more than a couple of factors for both sides.
  7. Good job @SavageBeastZero 🙂that's exactly my problem with cheap old Dell IPS screen I've got. We all wanted a solution to prevent others exploiting gamma settings during night time in Dayz, but unfortunately that made it unplayable for some 😄

    Couple of stances/animations

    This is an older post I found stored in my editor but can't find if I actually posted. I probably gave up on it because the game is soon to be released :) I just wanted to get some of these couple of things out there. It's probably nothing new for you, but I hope people can get through it and maybe comment :) It's about animations/stances mostly. 1. Sneak - slower quieter movement When standing up: pressing forward the character would jog SHIFT would make it sprint pressing CTRL key (default), the character would just walk. When crouched: what would regularly be jogging is kind of a crouched walk pressing SHIFT your character would kind of run crouched Since we might have a third option here, when pressing SHIFT key when crouched, can we have a really quiet sneak movement? The idea of course is to be able to move around, yet keeping the noise to the minimum and/or really a much smaller radius of sound getting through. Mainly to sneak around other players. For example if you spot them first from inside a house, you would be able to move to another corner or another room and ambush them more easily without them detecting you from the outside. Or just sneak out and away. The floor stepping noise is really loud. Actually, for me that was the only other sure way of detecting other players, except visual of course. And aggroed infected. And firefights :D Maybe if that sneak could also affect detection by the infected, even better. 2. Weapons at hip stance and looting stance I think for the immersion sake, the other player characters are missing a hip-firing stance shown, and there should be some more distinction between that and when you see a player aiming down sights. Currently, from first person perspective it's ok. But when you look at another player or at your character in 3rd person with a raised weapon or when aiming down sights, it's the same stance. Although they are quite a different thing. My idea with this is that when you press a key for raising a weapon, basically you would just point the rifle or a pistol forward holding it kind of hip-side. I think that looks natural. Also, you should be able to just spray bullets when firing weapon hip-side while moving easily and quickly. For example when suddenly shit goes down with other people and you've got to move out quickly but also want to keep them busy avoiding your bullets. And with pistols it would be sort of a gunslinger style :) You would be able to make a quick surprise attack. In return, as I said you would be able to move more freely and quickly with weapon drawn, but weapon position should be hip-side. Of course, that should mean less precision and someone really skilled or lucky would be able to actually shoot people like this. The other one is when standing or crouched and looting a body. When someone loots a body, they are gonna be prone most likely. When standing and looting it looks kind of stupid. You don't really know if they are just looking around still or looting the body really. So I suggest you have to get crouched or prone to show the vicinity loot from the body. When you press TAB, from the perspective of other player you would then be in a somewhat modified crouched stance with your hand going through the backpack. 3. When aiming down sights through windows for example, sometimes you just can't avoid that window glass frame. Especially now with the weapon collision. It could be just that the height of the obstacle is such that it is always lined up with your gun barrel and you can't really shoot. Or you do but you hit it :) I was wondering if we could have a key (Z now available) which when we press, we can lock our character in position and move the mouse around to aim more freely just for the sake of getting that clear shot? Up and down to raise your aim a bit and left and right would work like Q and E does. Or be able to set your rifle like a machine gun on the edge of the window and move it around. Similarly like the prone and roll aiming works now. Does that make sense? 4. Hand to hand and melee If this is a kind of a post-apocalyptic environment, I'd say sometimes and in some areas there should be scarce ammo and weapons, so having more advanced melee combat ability should be some kind of a goal for Dayz characters. Now I don't know if melee weapons have any categories in the game, like bashing, slashing-cutting, thrusting... except one-handed and two handed maybe? I guess not. Anyway, what we have is pretty basic now. Click once - right punch/bash once. Click a couple of times for a combo-like move with right then left punch. Sprint and attack for a power hit. Also, what I find troublesome right now, when moving left, right or back and pressing attack, the character always makes a forward step and hit animation. I guess that one could be just a placeholder until new ones are done? We should be able to make a choice with direction: attacking while stepping left, a swipe from right to left. And vice versa. Attacking while stepping forward - a thrusting or hit-on-the-head attack depending on the weapon used - like a weapon category, if it's a blunt or thrust like weapon. Also, the kicks are missing though highly usable if you want to keep some distance from the opponent. The same goes for buttstock hits and bayonet thrusts. I'm sure there's plenty of people with all kinds of suggestions. I hope I was at least close to realistic in this "wish-list" :) Also, from what I have seen so far that the developers are more into freedom of movement with this new player controller, as much as possible currently to make Dayz stand out somewhat from other games. I am also aware that if the devs don't, probably some modder will look into some of this too. It's just that I'm afraid too much modding could bring a lot of different versions or variants. Of course that means variety and everything for everyone, however I'm also afraid that the whole community could be too much scattered and could even feel both overwhelming and frustrating for some in the end to have everything needed just to play on some server where your buddies are (me first lol). So it's sort of like, more in the game - less to 'fix' with modding :D

    Some feedback and questions

    @ImpulZ Thanks for getting more involved into forum discussions in the last period, ImpulZ First concerning daylight and lighting in general, will the interiors lighting be looked into any soon? Second, about night lighting, you already gave some answer here and I'm glad that it's being looked into. But I'm giving my opinion and a question here, TLDR joining with other people complaining about pitch-black night lighting. I'm not the one for quitting when the night falls. I liked playing the game when the night falls. But somewhere from 1.0 to the patch prior to last one, the nights are really unplayable to me without increasing in-game brightness a click. I'm playing with really dim light on in the room. I didn't change my graphic drivers or settings and I really don't want to have to fool around with monitor settings etc. or make my room pich black just to be able to play. Meaning when roaming around, I can't really see terrain, fences or buildings edges without increasing this in-game setting. But of course, the way the anti-gamma exploit works now is making it all bland and grey. Which is fine to exist, but I'd say it's somewhat playable and ugly for me. Now, I really don't know what's the current mechanic and how simple is this to do. I was playing yesterday a bit on a daylight time server, it was around noon I think, the sun was really high up. I climbed the top of the apartment buildings in Cherno and looked around with binoculars. I was looking into the apartments which are on the non-sunlit side of the building opposite of me. After I lowered the binos, I could notice that the gamma/brightness actually went up a bit, then scaled down again to normal after a second. Which means the game has this kind of natural changes to simulate the player character's eyes getting used to different lighting. Is it difficult to make an increase in this direction during nights? Meaning that as it gets darker and darker, we get this increase and our "eyes" get used to dark. Again, I assume there is something like that already in the game during nights. Using light or looking at it should get you blinded for a moment and cancel this "effect" thus bringing back the levels to normal. We could at least discern some of these details I mentioned like terrain/buildings/fence edges so we can move around a bit more at ease without manipulating stuff in our settings. I'm a city boy but country side or non-urban light during nights is not unknown to me. I'm sure you've seen the screenshots of other people already and the game is really pitch black outdoors.

    Bloody feet! (can we wash them too? lol) Nice to have some fix for this finally. Maybe implementing faster stamina drain too with bleeding or add some shock damage, just painful, kind of like it used to be?

    When Picking Up Weapons From Dead Players...

    Yes! In fact if he had it in his hands, the item should drop like his body would. Somewhere on the ground, not be on his back. That's why we need separate actions - like Hold F or double tap F to put it into your inventory and just tap F to grab item into hands. Dunno if they removed completely that double tap thing from the old engine. Also there used to be H button that would put the item from your hands to a free slot in the inventory. We need quick response options. But we still have to TAB, click, drag or double click be it to arrange things to hotbar or in the inventory.

  15. @Guy Smiley @eno @argh Same here. Both weather change and getting darker or lighter but also going through to new places on the map. I only have 8 gigs of RAM and not being able to play on SSD currently. They say they fixed it, but no one can be sure about player-lag network bubble thing, because it still was a big bubble. The damage is done - no one forgets the player lag ever :D

    New zombies

    There is no cure for this. However I think we only need server stability and capability to have more zombies. I played on some community server recently, had a bigger amount of zombies in towns than usual. They knock you down and rip you apart quick. I had a good time but not my character haha

    zombie animation for players

    Apparently this shouldn't be a problem in Dayz VR :D still long way to go. But you can't just "infiltrate" the zombie horde, they want your flesh and would be easy pickings for them this way.

    @Kirov (DayZ) No I didn't think or realize about him or his posts anything like you did. I was just mildly entertained, nothing foolish nor elitist about it, I think. I just think now you're overanalyzing a bit. Relax, it's a game and (almost) a shit post we're talking about here. Where I come from, trolling is more or less obvious lying used to piss you of but also to get you into the right way of thinking. But what exactly pisses you off here in his little story/stories? And what was he wrong about, at least in his last couple of sentences? I assume you read the whole thing and also assume it's one player killing another and kind of regretting but boasting more so about it here that pisses you off. Banditry, KOS, "camping", trickery, cowardice, reacting wrong, being surprised and/or scared shitless, taunted, frustrated and killed by a complete stranger... aren't that already accepted to be common things in Dayz encounters? Having no policing systems or moral consequences makes it a dark place but good for what I understand Dayz to be. Which is also why it's a bit different. Except maybe eating human flesh - hopefully that 'consequence' returns. Sorry, we more or less all keep failing at it, but it's up to us not to fall into various traps and situations going wrong during encounters.

    Warning To All Survivors

    Aw come on guys! It's just his adventures wrapped in a character, and well, not hilarious but funny bit of writing. And it doesn't take away anything from the forums. Probably much easier than to produce such youtube videos. In the future, whenever you see a Survivor1431's post I suggest you decide immediately if you want to loose another couple of minutes and read it or just pass. And I do suggest to @Survivor1431 to start a Dayz short-clip youtube channel.
  23. Bad trips were a thing for a short time but was taken out due to high risk of epilepsy seizures. The hurricane thing is already in but works only on cars currently. On some really rare occasions some players showed this very same feature happening to their characters but they were actually unknowingly casting a levitation spell. Dragging dead bodies and gore is a pain in the ass for development as far as I understand, but I'm all for hanging self and others. Plenty of rope and wire around. Nails and planks too.
