  1. I've been playing dayZ official vanilla servers since release in dec 2013. I've never had as much problems on the official vanilla servers with hackers as I have the past couple months. It has completely killed my interest in this game. Normally I would play on "low pop" servers to avoid having to deal with a lot of players, and because I know high pop vanilla servers have always had a problem with hackers. I had already taken a couple month break from the game, because I had a very well hidden spot for buried items in the far north and it was almost impossible to see, it went untouched for many months. After the game went on sale in china we had lost our buried stash within a month. You can check the server lists and see all of the people with Chinese symbols or all numbers for steam profile names. These accounts have rarely been set up, and often have multiple VAC bans. Tonight I had a friend get the game who had not played dayZ since the mod. We were running together in the far north and my character started taking what seemed to be like bullet shots from an unknown location. There were no cracking noises from bullets, no players nearby that we had seen, and it killed me very quickly, but I was hit more than once... I could hear audio noise of my character getting hit by something (the "UGH") and my clothing was getting damaged. My friend said he saw my character "spazzing out and making noises", and I fell over dead. A few seconds later my friend fell over dead himself, having heard nothing, he had previously found an LAR at a crash site, and was excited to be playing the game. My friend went on to say that he was really glad he didnt talk his brother into buying the game. I have never had a more disappointing experience in this game. And after 1,700 hours in this game I think I'm finally done. Someone call me when BattleEye actually does its job.

    PC Server Reassignment on September 2nd

    What's the point in having unmodded community servers? Why does it feel like official is slowly dying? Ive played on DayZ WA 2-0 and 2-8 for years now....
  6. With the statement on the status report saying "we have a hard time explaining the medical system as it is"... Is because there is no explanation. Is it so hard to make a survival tutorial? DayZs medical system is not horribly complicated. Rust, Ark, The long dark, Project zomboid all have pretty similar complications (sometimes more). What stands out about dayZ is there is absolutely no tutorial. This would go a very long way in explaining the game mechanics. Does this not seem like basic video game industry logic? Make a tutorial to explain the game? It almost feels like a cop out to avoid implementing an advanced medical system.... It wouldnt be hard to have a survival tutorial that shows you how to make a fire, reload a gun, bandage and take care of yourself when sick... Etc.

  8. I'm just wondering if a food rework is in the pipeline at some point? Like, why does dry rice refill both water and hunger? Will food ever decay? Poison/bad food (especially mushrooms)?

    Yup. I'm totally fine with this. Content is coming along nicely. This community can be very very toxic when promises are not kept.
  10. 1. They said helicopters are on a wish list and may not be coming due to server performance. 2. Why am I the only person who totally understands if this dev team doesn't want to put out a roadmap? Nothing else has ever caused as much salt in this community as roadmaps and failing to meet them, which they will fail, again. 3. I'm fine with this, they said that their new approach is "under promise and over deliver", so you'll hear about updates just before they happen, which is approximately once a month. I would rather have an almost guaranteed update every month, than a status report twice a month with an update every 3-6 months. 4. I also only play this game to interact with a community I've put together on a public hive server, for me, it's the lack of in depth medical systems... as I tend to like to save people during medical emergencies. 5. Why? It's not like people understood what was really going on with the engine changes by and large by the community. It's a real minority that truly understood what happened with this game, and why most are rage posting on reddit about helicopters not being a promised feature.
  11. Thanks for pointing this out, and it's something I try to tell people when I'm replying to all the people saying "DAYZ IS DEAD" on the reddit/other places. The game is actually doing pretty well right now according to steam charts if you look at the avg players since 1.0 over the past couple years before. I play almost exclusively on public vanilla servers, and I feel like I meet significantly less experienced players there, I've met a whole group of 4-5 people that had less than 200 hours before the 1.0 release and did not follow the game. To them it's a pretty decent game already with a pretty consistent content release rate (since 1.0). I hope the rate continues, and the updates continue to be impactful, I myself am eagerly awaiting any advancement/reworks of the medical system. Broken bones/use for morphine/epi pens/disease rework.

  13. No. Crashed helis are the only one from that list that's coming and they're already in. M4 is in the game, I've seen nothing about m16.

    Anyone else remember this status report regarding dead bodies? Nespesny There was a buzz in the community about dead bodies and how long they should stay on a server. Coincidentally we were dealing with the design on dead bodies a few days ago, so I would take the opportunity to write down a short summary of what we settled on and what will hopefully be implemented to enrich player experiences, as death is an inseparable part of DayZ. First off I want to emphasize that the current 10 minutes timer for survivors, after which their dead bodies are removed from the server, is temporary and it’s set like that because of two reasons – avoiding unnecessary burden of server performance and making metagaming of getting your loot back a bit more inconvenient. In an ideal world where dead bodies don’t drain server performance, they should remain at their positions until server restart. To achieve this, a dead body can’t simply be switched to a static object since it was positioned by ragdoll, so it will look very unnatural, not to mention that survivors can have countless combinations of gear and equipment attached to them, so it’s nearly impossible to prepare corresponding objects beforehand or bake them on demand. Server performance will be stressed to a minimum once we’ll be able to turn off all unnecessary components like physics, AI, and others after death, so it will allow us to stretch the lifetime of dead bodies to the maximum reasonable value. Later, the central loot economy will help us fight the metagaming I mentioned at the beginning by removing items when they reach the end of their lifetime, which can be changed on demand. However, having dead bodies scattered around the environment wouldn’t be very meaningful unless there is an important part allowing you to create stories or make decisions based upon them. It’s our intention to make everything as graphical as possible and we also want this to be the case for dead bodies of animals and especially other survivors. Visual observation of dead bodies can give you answers for questions such as, what happened at a specific location, or to evaluate the level of potential risk in any given area. All this should be indicated from easily readable facts like how that being died, how long ago it died, and what actions were performed on its dead body. After death, a body can be found in different states which are visualized by small or complete changes of appearance. Obviously actions like skinning a body should leave a pile of unusable remnants to be removed later, such as burying it with the proper tools on the right surface thus creating a built up heap of soil. More interesting is how a dead body changes its stages to reflect how long it’s been laying around and how it affects interactions and other mechanics. Flies, and later on decaying flesh, helps you to estimate the timeframe and warn you that meat collected after skinning will be rotten, and it will be better if you disinfect looted items from a corpse before using them. Decals, which are generated from bullet and/or melee hits, stay on dead bodies, and coupled with blood puddles from severe bleeding, these unveil the probable cause of death. Note that all changes to character appearance acquired while alive, like beards, bloody hands, and others are visualized in the dead state too. It’s much needed to keep dead bodies present as long as possible, same as the added functionality of them. I’m eager to see how their behavior over time changes gameplay and player experiences by building a more believable world and making DayZ’s atmosphere even more tense at the end.     They said on the livestream that the next coming patches will be heavily focused on survival. I really hope they make blood bags and saline useful again. I hope that, for the first time, we actually have a "use" for every medical item in the game, and that it's not purely junk loot. I say this as someone who used to run around with the Reddit Rescue Force helping people.

    PLEASE reverse the NEW "Client Side Personal Night Light"

    Most people I've talked with, through meeting in game on public servers think this "personal magic lamp" is an improvement over the previous total black of night. It's not my favorite feature. But my opinion of it has changed as I've talked to people with far less experienced than me in this game.
  20. Seriously, Ive sever hopped at industrial sites just trying to find the parts. Are they super rare? Or not spawning for public servers? Ive been looking every day since the patch dropped. I have a car and I drive around the map checking car spawns. It feels like it's getting kind of ridiculous.

I would expect the lighting to at least go around the inside of the tent as well. Maybe giving off at least as much light as a glow stick? Thoughts?
  23. I totally agree with Brian Hicks that radios should be starting gear, at least in alpha/beta phase of dayZ as a form of alternative, opt in, side chat. I always carry one, but I tend to play on a chosen, local, public server and I've never once had any radio contact aside from friends I knew were on the server already, and I could of joined in teamspeak. I personally believe that a global side chat does not belong in dayZ, and the kill count definately does not belong. But that's just IMO.
