    Status Report - 30 January 2018

    The developers will not publish a date, as it has been said several times. That's why there will be no statement for Spring / Summer / Autumn. I also wished for a hint on "where is the game before beta". Maybe we can count on a "status now". (something like: dayz 0.63 intern status "4 of 10" finished). Of course we have no time horizon, because there are things that depend on other mechanics ... but it would be something.

    No hate words have been said here in this thread so far. It is more the disappointment, as if you are running thirstily through the sandy desert and see again and again water. But if you come closer you realize that it was just a mirage ..... then you just go a little slower, because the hope for the water is getting smaller. The status reports show us the current work, but they show no distance to the finish ... that's the hard thing.

    an interesting extension far out in the sea to the east. But it would be the wrong place for weaponspawns, better would be special equipment, such as protective suits. It should also be difficult to get there alive, and do not forget to come back from living. as location: east in the sea of Solnichy. No risk, no life. Unfortunately, none of this was ever mentioned, so let's say it's something that comes into play when it comes to modding, or after the full version.

    Its true...the night need benefits you do not have during the day. But it also needs disadvantages if you think you can correct the darkness with gamma instead of the mechanics of "crafting light" And its right... woodensticks burns like the hellfire fast... counterside the Firewood have a good burntime, but go not to mutch away from the fireplace, then it will still go out. (Fireviewdistance are the critical distance)

    The Rescue bow should definitely be better than the "selfmade bow". also with the 4 arrow types. the sharped stick should have the biggest "flaws" with both bows. In return, the "combat-arrow" with the Rescuebow must be a final, quiet killing machine.

    Or choice your favorite spawn.... Joking aside. Leave the spawns as they are now. The only thing that could be considered between 4 spawn regions (North-East / Center-East / South-East or Full-Random) is the exact spawn but still random.

    Lamps are sometimes better in 1pp or 3pp. But all except the headlamp / pistol-light and flashlight have a serious flaw since the new renderer. They hold them in their hands so they barely see blinded from the glare-light. They hold the light source in front of your viewing angle so that they become blind from the counter light. The gas lamp is very bad .... in the RL you wear a lamp from the "viewing angle shadow". That's why the headlamp is the best lamp ... but also a dangerous one because you can not put it down so quickly, or switch it off. (you can throw away a Torc, switch a gas lamp if it's in the Hotbar). Definitely, the "poses and animations need to be reconsidered before we can enjoy the night without gamma cheat." The idea with crafting limitations in the dark sounds good, but should not be "possible" / "impossible." It would be much more interesting crafting in the dark with a "declining success rate" to prove that we can lose things in the dark ... because we see it too bad, or the result of crafting is not pristine ... but Worn or even badly damaged ** ... ( ** I am still thinking of linking with softskills).

    What I was a little disappointed with the update with the "new" night was the colors. because even if it looks a bit prettier, it is out of touch with reality. The human being can see almost no colors at night, we only see black and white, as long as the amount of light is small (moonlight is not enough to see really rich colors). I would agree if the colors were very pale, as with very low blood levels. I've noticed ingame at the EAF in the hangar that in the night all surfaces that are in the shadow of the "night ambiance light" these surfaces are rendered only with an 8-bit color depth. If that happened to the whole environment, then we would not be able to see many differences ... even with "high-gamma", black turns into gray, but with no differentiated accuracy of color-near shapes. Only artificial light sources that are used in ingame should bring the color depth back with a "faint" color contrast. Edit: add screen from EAF-Moonlight-Night (0.61) with high-gamma and lightsoucre (chemlight white) in left room.

    The Bow will wait.... the devs tell us for implementet Technics not at the first Beta release. I think we can more reading about bow/tech if are ready or close to ready. ( I hope you can move after load and tensing the bow...but if you move the tension go down).

    Almost done with this game

    Not all Dayz players have 1000+ hours and they memorize every m^2 of 2 land in Chernarus ... and can only kill out of boredom. There are also "new-players" that are just beginning. Everyone has a right to a normal answer when he asks a "normal question" or leaves his impression on the game. @saugaslayer that is DayZ .. there is no law, only you and your mind or mistrust will guide you.

    I think it does not matter how big a card is. The limit is our computers. The detail and size are relatively unimportant. A cpu / gpu can handle a certain amount of polygons depending on its performance. this always refers to the "field of view" of the camera. The range of the view is therefore very important, especially because the buildings in DayZ are part of the map ... all walk-in buildings have open windows and put a lot of load on the cpu / gpu (which was also a problem for the devs in the review of Elektro and Cherno ... the balance of detail and performance, the computer always imports only areas of the map ... we never have the complete map in the memory. so smaller maps only have an impact on the players (interactions dense), requirements and performance of the system will be so much higher. (It may even be that the AI of animals and Zeds would be too hard for the server performance). I think the DayZ engine are good handling big maps... its possible with small maps we become more or other problems, in view on tech to Engine because, the Engine is created/optimized for big maps/terrains. that does not mean that it will not be possible, but without any adjustments and optimizations of the Tech for smaller maps, the disappointment will be great.

    Boats would be a great thing. Only the question arises where it makes sense to use boats, if it is so that boats can not be carried (is realistic, except a kayak, boats are too heavy). On the sea: Yes definitely, the sea is big and wide and there are islands that can be reached. Inland lakes: there are a few lakes big enough to use a boat, but why? for fishing? Honestly, fishing on a lake is a very difficult thing to do ... in a world that is unpredictable. You're the perfect defenseless target of a Lvl.1 sniper. Without targeted mechanics on a lake (net fishing), it makes little sense. Rivers / streams: they are even worse than the lakes. too small and worthless without meaningful mechanics. Also, you will have no advantage in speed, and waterfalls will stop your way too fast. Therefore the idea with boats sounds good, but the benefit in comparison to the effort (programming), IMO is too low on rivers / streams. Definitely welcome boats are on the sea (a few more islands in the east, Adam? Wink ;-)) and maybe on larger lakes.

    I feel like due devs are starting to take advantage of the new engine. Even the triviality of different "types of water" makes the fantasy start. a river has murky brown water ... it could have rained a short time ago. maybe they will be able to give the water a dynamic height ... more rain in rain than dry. Cloudy brown water could also be more harmful (cholera). These are little things that quickly give you a lot of "leeway" for them to recognize.

    You mean the spawn of stones/berrys and... If the spawn-radius not to great, its not a problem (10-20m) and the items fast despawn if you leave the zone of influence. Great News about the rivers, nice.

    @cirkular If the devs regulate the speeds of the aircrafts, I see no problem with the introduction. The little bird has a max speed of 230 km / h (max in optimal condition, something we will not see in Chernarus anymore "optimal") so I see a little bird with max 150 km / h and the "crop duster" with 180 km / h. That's almost what the sedan could do ... just without using the road. I imagine, however, that it will not be so safe to use an airplane ... more weapons will come.

    This map sucks!

    Skyrim is a good map compared to Chernarus, both in size and in style. Nevertheless, the details found in the world of Chernarus will make you look in vain for Skyrim. Skyrim consists of a landscape which is peppered with POI (Points of interest) besides there is only landscape with rocks, meadows and forests. Chernarus, on the other hand, has so many interesting little things to discover. You walk through the forest, and suddenly you see a cross ... or a picnic spot with garbage. Chernarus is interesting even where nothing is expected. That's what I admire about this card ... the little things, and the desingners are still working on them, so there's more to discover with the new west and all the trails.

    Basebuilding

    It would be better to have a system that can "spawn" furniture and interiors. This would be even more interesting if this interior / furniture was used as a source of material for crafting materials, or have a use (bed or chair to rest, rest should have a positive effect on healing / regeneration & fatigue).
