So, I've had a set of similar issues rendering the vegetation in DayZ for quite some time now. When I get close to trees, bushes, even grass, the render in all sorts of crazy ways. Before the beta build went to stable branch, they would range from purple, to blue, to white. Now, in beta build, they're all white with certain video settings, and with others, they get a sort of prismatic rainbow thing going on, and with other settings, the blur all the colors they're supposed to be, just not where they're supposed to be. It's really annoying and I've tried the whole, verify integrity of cache and full-on reinstall route. I've scored forums and done searches looking for any and all fixes people have had success with. I've even resorted to asking any and every player I meet in game if they know of a fix. But, alas, my vegetation still won't render correctly. With the current build, it's like my character ate the wrong (or right, if you're into that sort of thing) mushrooms. It's kind of cool to see, but it makes it really difficult to traverse the map. Even entering heavier grown yards is a bit of a hassle. So, if anybody has any ideas as to what I can do to fix this, any and all potential fixes are more than welcome. Thanks in advance, - NNG

Well, in a last ditch effort to fix my issue, I retried all of the potential fixes and one of them worked. Unfortunately, I don't know which one, as I did them all, one after another. Anyway, thanks again to those who suggested fixes.

Currently, there is no reason to play in Offline Mode. You can't come back to the same character, or the same map (as it's a fresh one each time you launch). So, with the time that it takes just to get the supplies needed for testing whatever, odds are you won't do it in one play session. Hopefully, you devs are planning to allow players to have multiple single player (Offline) games going like we can with similar games (i.e. Unturned or Minecraft), as well as the option to host LAN games. Such features are important for those with crappy internet, house rules regarding internet usage, lack of desire to play with other people, etc. Also, not sure if you devs are aware, but in Offline Mode, you can't even open the Esc menu to leave the game. I was forced to simulate a crash both times I have launched in Offline Mode. If there is a feature currently implemented to save Offline worlds, then it is circumvented by the inability to log out.

Yes, wolves are dangerous. You will need to take precautions to avoid death by wolf pack. If you hear/see them coming, take cover in a house and shoot them through the windows. If you plan on venturing through wolf territory away from usable fortification, then make certain you have a good weapon and plenty of ammo. Also helps to have a pack of your own. If you take out a certain percentage of the pack, they will retreat and regroup, giving you time to do the same. If you can identify the alpha, take him out and they will retreat with just the one kill.

I think they're just trying to get things functioning as intended right now. Things like object health should be adjustable with the new server mod tools.

When you start your server, you just need to lock it and assign a password. Simple as that. And no, lots of people have password protected servers. There are no rules against it.

RIght click on inventory item does nothing!

Unless you're bleeding, you don't need to bandage. Damage will heal over time, so long as your food and water levels are good. -
One of the biggest issues with the melee system right now, apart from the zombies teleporting all around and hit registration being iffy, is the melee animation. When I start swinging my axe at a zombie, my character starts stumbling all over the place as if he has never swung anything, ever. I don't know whose idea it was to stagger characters all over the place during melee, but it would be nice to given back, at least, some degree of control over our character's movements. If my character moves forward, backward, or sideways during melee, I want it to be because I pressed the respective button to tell him to do so. There's absolutely no reason for these character to lose their balance with every swing like they're playing drunken baseball.

*INVENTORY* - Slot separation/Quickbar Accessibility
NachoNinjaGnome replied to 0.64 Freerider's topic in Suggestions
Absolutely. I touched upon such a concept in a thread of mine awhile back, but the focus was on the addition of more items that would justify the existence of those hotbar slots. -
Turned everything off, still having the issue. Always used default settings, both before the issue and after, so I doubt that's the problem, but I gave it a shot just in case. Thanks for the suggestion though.

My Radeon HD 7850 never had any issues rendering the foliage. This problem did not start until a few months ago when my SSD became unreadable and I had to reinstall Windows 7 on one of my HDDs. I then had to reinstall my games due to my C drive being changed. It was the exact same version I had played just a couple days prior. I have also verified my driver to be current multiple times as I keep being told that is the most common issue. Definitely considering going back through all the various potential fixes though, beginning with the fresh install. Just looking for more possible fixes before I undergo that all day procedure (horrible internet).

Keep getting things stuck in my hands. Relogging and relaunching work to fix it here and there, but just logged for the night after repeated attempts to get a chest holster out of my hands failed. Also, backpack with tent and various loot disappeared on ground. Can't move bases right now, I guess. The rapid moving of gear from one container to another seems to stress the server too much and things just start to disappear. On another note, got two Offroads working tonight, both wrecked due to lag/desync and general bugginess. I do not recommend wasting any time on vehicles right now. Not worth the effort for nearly immediate demise, regardless of any perceived convenience factors. It's just the illusion of convenience.

Ever since the update yesterday, my characters have been had continuous labored breathing as if they're trying to regain stamina. Even with a brand new character with starting gear, this bug has been present. Seems to stop and restart randomly in concert with various actions. Makes the game unplayable as the constant breathing sounds in my headphones make me want to put a bullet in my head. Gonna go play something else until I see another update.

Ummm... 7800 series... idk if that falls into that category. Why, is there some sort of conflict with DayZ and the 7 series? https://imgur.com/a/KB7U8AR

Unfortunately, no, it did not help. I have downloaded the most recent driver for my GPU. I've tried windowed and fullscreen with dozens of different video setting configurations before, and again after reading this. Using the tool got my hopes up. But, alas, still looks like my character ate some moldy rye bread.

So, I ran into an annoying bug last night. Logged in for the first time since the beta build went to stable branch and spent the evening hanging out in Electro with some people I met in game. Found a large amount of barrels and set up a little stash spot. Was walking another barrel to my hidey hole and aggro'd a zombie. I hit tab and click-dragged it to the "Vicinity" as I did the other 7 barrels and all of a sudden, its background goes red and won't allow me to do it. I tried a couple more times, didn't work. I hit tab and tried the new placement method that seems a bit hit and miss anyway and it wouldn't activate. Tried just hitting my splitting axe hotkey and nothing. My character just stood there getting mauled by a zombie for a good long minute before going unconscious. Now, I've died to some annoying bugs before, but dying that slowly to a bug is just a new level of annoying. I know the dev team has their hands full, but if this issue could be addressed it would be greatly appreciated by all of us barrel hogs. Sincerely, = NNG

Belts, Bandoliers, Slings, Holsters and Makeshift Conveniences
NachoNinjaGnome posted a topic in Suggestions
Now, I know I've seen a post here and there touch upon SOME parts of the things I'm about to suggest but, I believe an all-inclusive post on the subject is justified. One thing that has always bothered me about DayZ is all the weapons magically floating on everyone's backs. I love that the Chest Holster and Holster Attachment exist, and I believe it would be great to expand upon that sort of mechanic. It would be nice to see people forced to carry their weapon, or stick it in a bag, if they found it without an existing sling. I would like to see a wide variety of belts, slings, straps, bandoliers, holsters, pouches, packs, strings, cords, etc. to facilitate weapon accessibility. This would require more "clothing" slots but, I think it could prove to add an entirely new element to the game that, while inconvenient at first, would lend greater versatility to our survivors. We would, naturally, need to be able to craft some makeshift items for these purposes, but that's easy enough. Here's a few ideas to get the ball rolling. Hotbar slots could be more realistic - having a holster would give you 1 hotbar slot for a handgun, having a bandolier would give 1 for ammo, etc. Belts - could have holster, sheath, hanger and pouch attachments Waist slot(s) - could allow for placing a handgun in one's waistband or a knife between the belt and the pants Bandoliers - gun belts with holsters and ammo loops... cross-chest bandoliers Weapon slings with ammo loops Buttstock ammo loops and pouches Duffle Bags and Fanny Packs Shopping Carts, Wheelbarrows, Food Carts, Kid Wagons Pack Animals and Mounts with Saddlebags Saddlebags slung over shoulder Shoulder slots (instead of 1 melee slot and 1 long gun slot) for 2 long guns, 2 melee, one of each, one and a duffle or saddlebags Lefty, Righty, Small of Back, Drop-Leg and Ankle Holsters 1-point, 2-point and 3-point Long Gun Slings Shoestrings - very useful for tying a knife sheath or belt holster to your leg... or even making a rudimentary sling Cloth strips - not just absorbent rags or burlap for ghillies, but maybe a cut up TSKO or M85 Jacket for makeshift slings, belts and straps Wire, string, cord, etc. - more than just rope (and the aforementioned shoestrings) Plant Fiber cordage - just spawned?... take your improvised knife and get to making a primitive sling for your crafted spear ...anyway, like I said, just a few ideas to get the ball rolling... what do you guys think? -
So, not all too long ago, my SSD became unreadable and I was forced to reinstall windows on one of my HDDs. After reinstalling that, and everything else, I had the urge to play some DayZ. Only, now, every leaf of every tree and bush has no texture when I get close to them. All the trees in the distance have their normal textures, but upon closing in to the distance at which the most detailed textures should be drawn, the game draws a blank and renders them a flat blue, white, or purple color (depending on the time of day). I did a few searches and found a few "fixes" for the issue, none of which have fixed the issue for me. So far, I have fiddled with the video settings (quite a bit), trying a dozen or so different combinations of settings. I have verified the integrity of the game files through the Steam properties menus. I have even ensured that I have the most recent driver for my video card manually through the AMD website. Does anyone out there have any other ideas that I can try? I am all ears. Thanks in advance. - Nacho

If the 'healthy' status returns. Stews / casseroles

It always bugged me that I couldn't mix the powdered milk into my water to make some rehydrated milk for my dry cereal. Need to be able to find/craft bowls and spoons too. -
Belts, Bandoliers, Slings, Holsters and Makeshift Conveniences
NachoNinjaGnome replied to NachoNinjaGnome's topic in Suggestions
Also... quivers... I want to be able to spawn in, make a knife, braid some plant fiber and turn my shirt into a makeshift quiver to hold my crafted arrows for my improvised bow. I see so many suggestions for adding all this military equipment, but I think a delving into primitive survival gear to an even greater degree would be beneficial to the game. -
PVE isn't about challenge. It's about escape. It's about interaction. It's about exploration. It's about discovery. It's about random shenanigans. There are so many aspects to a game like DayZ that just shrink into the background in the KoS fest that is most servers.

reminds me of the time my buddy was fiddling around with a defibrillator... everyone was just hanging around, talking and carrying on... then, all of a sudden, "well... I'm dead"...
-
So, it won't let me start a new character... just keeps logging in the same one. Going to see if I can find another player to give my gear to before I kill my character (would hate to see all this go to waste). Then, we'll see if a new character still has the same issue.

Still can't access the bug report section and found, yet another, bug... so, I'm posting about it here, again. I think I broke my character. Last night, I was attempting to switch out my TTSKO Jacket for a USMC Jacket to no avail. First, I placed my extra backpack (full of gear) on the ground and took my TTSKO Jacket to my hands while I attempted to put the USMC Jacket on my body so that I could transfer gear from one jacket to the other without putting my full jacket on the ground. I've used this exact method every time I've switched jacket, pants or backpacks with all of my characters and haven't had a single issue. Only, this time, the USMC Jacket would not transfer to my character. So, I put my TTSKO back on, picked up my backpack and continued to loot around the tents. I came across an M65 Jacket and attempted the same and, again, the new jacket would not transfer over. I tried switching it out for the jacket in my extra backpack and it wouldn't go. I left it alone as well and went about looting further, bringing my extra backpack with me, of course. I made my rounds and circled back to the USMC Jacket. This time, the USMC managed to switch for me and I proceeded to transfer my Skorpion and other gear to the new USMC Jacket. But the USMC was "Badly Damaged", so I went back to where the M65 Jacket was laying. I once again, tried putting the M65 on my character, didn't work. I tried to switch it to my extra backpack and, lo and behold, it switched. I tried one more time to switch the M65 with the USMC and still didn't work. I picked up my extra backpack and ran out the tent area and logged to see if I could fix the issue by relogging (which often fixes those little inventory glitches) but, when I logged back in, my extra backpack was not in my hands and I was wearing the Gorka Jacket (that had been in my extra backpack) that I had replaced with the M65. So, not only did I lose a Green Mountain Backpack full of an extra character's worth of gear, but I lost the three jackets I would have preferred over the Gorka Jacket, as well as my Skorpion and other gear that was in my USMC Jacket. So, after that loss, I logged out, exited game and went to bed. Now, here I am. New day, new launch, new log in. Back in to move forward and attempt to recoup my losses, but now my character is completely broken. I can't put anything in my hands at all. I can't pull any of my weapons on my hotbar. Going to try a new a new character now. Maybe I can get back to my old character's position and leave his gear on the ground for the new one. Got a LONG walk ahead of me.

Yes, I fiddled with a few of them over the course of two, significantly long, play sessions. All three MP5s (2 with 15-round and 1 with a 30-round mag) would not allow me to click and drag the magazine off of the weapon, nor would they allow me to drag a new magazine onto the "Combine" section (was red-ed out). I admit, I'm still learning the new system, but that's the only two ways I've found to interact with magazines in weapons.
