  1. There was some court case involving Microsoft and somehow dayz 2 was leaked from some documents.

Any word on when this will drop? Will there be an alpha version?

Maybe I'm a masochist, but I really enjoyed participating with alpha on dayz standalone. I enjoyed following the news and reading updates of new features and bug fixes. I enjoyed dealing with the weirdest of bugs. There seemed to be a strong sense of community because we were all sticking it out and dealing with whatever the game threw at us.

No, Account sharing is not only dangerous but also not allowed.
You are responsible for your own Account and there is no way you can proofe that it was really your "friend".

It also smells like dogs**t inhere, you prbly got caught cheating and now try to blame it on someone. nice try bud, get dayz hackers free

Quit calling them "hackers" they are not hacking anything. They're running scripts they buy, so they can cheat. At least call them cheaters. Or script kiddies

The game does not need new map per se but rather different seasons implemented. Not biomes but full fledged seasons. Summer outside equals summer ingame, for example. It does not need more weaponry as well; When one update puts one weapon, one mod adds dozens or more. Mods should be used for that - to create additional content that is purely optional.

South Zagoria is nothing more than a backwater region of Chernarus. It needs more survival features, crafting and reinforced stealth mechanics. Stealth itself is a joke with all that arcade-like grunting, noises etc. Still no option to open doors slowly and without alerting others. And of course building, barricading... One of the few annoying things about the world in game is that it's static. Every little house looks the same. One cannot rearrange what's in them. Cannot move table or a knocked off chair out of the way. Cannot fully take the place for yourself. And there are those ridiculous security bars that were used years ago to lock doors in almost every building. Apartments for example - lost a lot of space because of that. BTW. What happened with item spawns inside apartments? Why vanilla has them deactivated? Why keeping these buildings then? No loot, partially locked away, barricading with vanilla gates looks bad - why bother?

And all this might be impossible with this mess of an engine "DayZ" is using. Or should i say two engines. Hybrid it is.

Idk, the winter season gets old and boring really quick/just like real life. For me anyway, a portion of why I love playing the game is the beautiful scenery and views etc. In winter everything is white and dead. I played a modded server with a winter mod and the population went from 20+ everyday, to 2 people.

that sounds pretty op and would just become meta. Id be walking around with a couple leather kits and an extra pair at that point

I mean going barefoot is an option too I guess. For moccasins we could require a specific animal leather, plus you've got to find fertilizer so that makes it difficult. I'd bet most people wouldn't bother. Plus if they wear super quick, sewing kits aren't super easy to find either.

I don't mean SILENT footsteps but just significantly quieter. It's real to life to as they'd be super quiet. And I thought we were all about adding whatever necessary to make this like real life? Plenty of other things added to this game to make it "real" that are completely stupid.

I still say moccasins would be a good feature.

  5. - craftable moccasins out of leather, that provide ultra quiet footwear but wear quickly, and do not take up more than 2 slots as they can be rolled up.

    - improvised bow readded

    - limit stamina of infected - they're half dead, why should they be just as fast as a normal person, AND have unlimited stamina to sprint

    - more consistent suppressor reactions from infected. It's always so hit or miss if they'll hear you. I think if they hear the bullet land, they are more apt to hear.

-and finally, bring back 2014 neaf. We don't need M4's or great loot spawning there but it would be awesome. Right now it's so hard to find pvp. Part of the reason neaf was changed, was to encourage people to go inland. Well most of the pvp is still on the coast so might as well bring back neaf to its former glory. Just to be clear, I mean the prison building, hangers, and OLD STYLE atc building (seems like there were two atc buildings?)

You don’t have to use the new control scheme, I don’t.

I’ve been using the old controls so long, the muscle memory is there.

Just go to options and set to old control scheme and viola.

What? It's not really the control scheme, it's the physics of inertia in game that causes the delay when turning or strafing.

To be honest, it felt weird to me too when I first tried it on experimental - even to the point of causing me nausea, but it feels natural now to me. DayZ should have had movement inertia since the beginning.

Maybe that's the case, but they should quit making changes of such magnitude, at this stage in the game. If they don't know where to spend resources, they could look at fixing cars (JK that's never going to happen). This is another reason why I think the stamina system was dumb to implement until there were reliable vehicles.

Maybe I should just fire up the DayZ mod instead. I think it would feel more pure at this point.

  8. Just as I was getting back into the game over the last year since I dumped it due to the changes and loss of content and features with the new engine, they go and dick with the player controller again.

I've never played a game that fucks with such critical parts of a game, over so many years. It's unplayable now due to the inertia of turning and strafing. It's as clunky as playing an FPS on console.

Been playing since 2014 but this is the nail in the coffin. I don't have time anymore to relearn the controls for this game. So sad, because this game had so much potential. Why are they even dicking with stuff like this at this stage?

Bye, it's been a good run (lol)

  9. Wouldn't this just allow someone to log off in the area where the base was, and then log in some other time when that base owner is typically online? Then raid their base?

Idk, it seems messy. I don't really care for base building, or at least how it's implemented in dayz. I DON'T like seeing "bases" littered everywhere that are nearly impenetrable. I wish they'd just stuck with barrels and tents honestly. Allow us to craft more sneaky stashes. Bc at the end of the day, I just want a place to secure my loot.

Basebuidling is a blight on this game. I'd take reliable vehicle physics any day over base building.

  10. Cooking vessels becoming ruined after 26min, and with no option to maintain or repair; is absolutely fucking stupid. Oh and the gas stove takes 4x as long to cook stuff so using camping gas stoves is pointless since after a couple uses your cookware will be destroyed. These devs never cease to amaze me.

(checkout wobo video, he covers this)

I'm convinced that they're trying to make it so unrealistically difficult, to drive people away so they can discontinue official servers and/or development.

On No Mods (vanilla) servers all is fine(no tent gone at all)

on moded servers they are gone(cf,vpp, banov). -2 large, -4 medium tents + players reporting even car tents are gone after the 1.16 update. only party tents and barrels left. havent seen the shelter status(at least for this time)

p.s. since when i cant post pictures from steam?

Are your medium camping tents and/or barrel's impacted (gone) too?

Didn't take long for the inevitable vehicle physics complaints again. Did the release notes above say they were addresses? nope. But there was something in the DayZ in 2022 blog post - https://dayz.com/article/developer-update/DayZ-in-2022

well, because it's an issue that's remain unresolved for 5ish years. Pretty ridiculous. Never should have been released out of alpha or beta until that was fixed. Any other game that would have this issue would be a complete laughing stock.

It does slow down, but it doesn't slow down immediately. There's still some usable energy from the gas until it slows down enough. That's what I'm trying to say.

"A suppressor will typically increase the muzzle velocity of ammunition and maintain if not improve shot group." Maybe my explanation has been poor as my understanding of it all isn't up to par, but the general consensus from what I know is that suppressors can increase muzzle velocity.
https://www.gemtech.com/silencers-do-more - source for the quote

    Learned something new, thanks!

Also, when I referenced PV=nRT I failed to account for the fact that the pressure is ever increasing due to the energy that's still there. If the bullet was stopped in the suppressor, and the combustion was complete, so the pressure was static, then yes, that static pressure from the bullet being in the barrel vs in the suppressor, would in fact decrease due to the increase in volume of the suppressor's chamber. But all of that is moot since the combustion process is ongoing until the bullet leaves the barrel. (ideally the cartridge is loaded so the powder is fully burned right as the bullet has left the barrel).

Yeah, suppressors should in general have zero impact on the bullet velocity, but at the exit of the barrel and beginning of the suppressor, gas is still at extremely high pressure - as it goes through the suppressor it gets slowed down, so that can cause some increase in velocity.

Not sure I follow that...if it slows down, that means it's decreasing in velocity...unless I'm misunderstanding what you're saying.

Kind of a side note, this site has lots of great info on firearms based on real testing by bored retired Vets: boxotruth.com  but they don't really dive into the physics of suppressors. Still googling that as I'm intrigued...kind of want to get one for my AR now....lol. But that would require the tax stamp, background check, and a new barrel...so maybe I'll just use it as an excuse to get another handgun, maybe another 9mm, with a threaded barrel 😁

Nope, suppressors don't slow down bullets. Suppressors slow down the gas from escaping from the barrel at extremely high speeds, thus lowering it's energy and subsequently sound.
Bullet gains all the velocity in the barrel as the gas keeps expanding at extremely high speeds.
As the bullet enters the suppressor, it already has achieved it's max potential velocity, as it keeps going, gas behind it is being slowed, but the bullet is unaffected.

What you are talking about is subsonic ammunition which has much lower muzzle velocity. To explain it in simple words:

Big boom = more energy = more speed = supersonic (makes a loud crack as it leaves the barrel)
Smaller boom = less energy = less speed = subsonic (doesn't make a loud crack)

Combine subsonic with suppressors and you will have really quiet rifles at the cost of lesser stopping power (because of the subsonic ammo, not the suppressor), but also you should have less recoil.
Suppressors with supersonic rounds are still REALLY LOUD, and far from the "pew pew" sound effects that you see in the movies and nobody bats an eye.

In best case scenario you might even have a higher velocity with a suppressor as it might serve as a "barrel extension", but gains might be miniscule to none.
Note: not a gun guy though, so my explanation might be subpar.

So if it's reached it's max velocity, the suppressor won't cause the acceleration of the bullet to increase as the velocity is constant, correct? So at the very least, the suppressor has zero impact on velocity of the bullet compared to no suppressor. I AM a gun guy, but not well versed in suppressor's or their impact. Guess we could google it if we really cared lol. But in terms of for this game, I think everyone is splitting hairs with all of this. Just my opinion....

Since the devs are probably never going to add vitals, here is my proposal for more sim damage numbers. Shock needs to be nerfed quite a bit in my opinion also. We don’t have time for that here.

Format = Damage from 10m or less (center-mass) to Unarmored/Stab/Press/Plate — Caliber and weapon.

    • 140/135/95/90 — 7.62x54  Mosin and SVD
    • 130/120/90/85 — 7.62x51  Tundra
    • 120/110/80/55 — 7.62x51  FAL
    • 105/100/65/45 — 7.62x39  SKS, BK, and CR-527
    • 100/  90/55/35 — 7.62x39  AKM
    •   55/  55/50/45 — 9x39AP  VAL and VSS
    •   50/  40/25/18 — 9x39       VAL and VSS
    • 105/100/60/35 — 5.56        Scout
    • 105/100/65/40 — .357        Repeater
    •   75/  70/55/30 — 5.56        M-16, AUG, and Famas
    •   50/  45/40/24 — 5.56        M4-A1 and AK-101
    •   40/  35/30/20 — 5.45        AK-74
    •   35/  33/25/15 — 5.45        AKS-74U
    •   50/  40/30/18 — .45          UMP
    •   33/  30/20/13 — 9X19       MP-5K
    •   33/  30/20/13 — .380        Skorpion

THESE NUMBERS ARE APPROXIMATIONS BASED ON AMMO CALIBER AND BARREL LENGTH. PISTOL DAMAGE SHOULD BE SCALED ACCORDINGLY.

Heavier, less aerodynamic rounds (9x39, .45, .357, 7.62x39, etc.) will be less effective as range increases than more high-power and aerodynamic rounds (7.62x51&54, 5.45, 5.56).

A professional suppressor should buff weapon damage because it increases barrel length, thus increasing acceleration and energy.  I don’t care if you are McGeyver, an improvised suppressor should decrease weapon damage because of craftsmanship and fitment.  Furthermore, suppressors should be varied by caliber not gun type.

P.S. Newbs, please stop referring to suppressors as silencers.

Wouldn't suppressors reduce velocity since they're a chamber that allows the pressure to suddenly decrease (because volume increases in the suppressor)....PV=nRT  ?

The whole point of a suppressor is to slow the speed of the bullet to close or below the sound barrier, correct? (I don't really know, just asking)

Not about one person, but if devs keep ignoring requests for more content that isn't guns, or even to bring back some of the deleted content he won't be the only one. And DayZ has a lot of negative reviews from people who have a lot of hours in the game, which will put of potential new buyers. If I was thinking about buying it and saw a review from someone who had this game from early access in 2013 saying that the game has been all but abandoned by devs who won't even fix car physics and want me to pay £34 for it and it being "officially released" while realistically it's late beta and that's being generous I probably spend my money on something else.

You've been playing since 2014 (as have I). I assume this isn't your first rodeo with broken promises for this game. I suspect you'll stick around like the rest of us. Because despite this crap, we keep on playing bc there is no other game like this.
