I quit playing shortly after 1.0 release. I've got 2000 hours from initial dayz sa launch until 1.0. What has changed be it improvements or new bugs? I see there is Livonia (not giving BI any more money). And bears. But I see the cars are still spaceships as well, despite being told many times by Eugene that it's fixed. I'm missing the game and would like to jump back into it, but I'd like a rundown on some of the changes/improvements/bugs to avoid. Off the top of my head, my questions are: * is there aircraft in the official game yet? * How is the cold/hypothermic mechanic? * Is hunger super easy to deal with? * Is fishing back yet? * New map changes? (last I remember they overhauled the big town east of the mishinkino tents (also the tents are gone), elektro is changed, and nearly every other major town). * new weapons? * is it still a pita if you're near an object trying to aim and the character pulls their gun up at the worst time? * bicycles yet? (In official stable branch) * are the zombies still bugged, going through walls? (there was a regression with this around 1.0) * can we craft camouflaged/improvised tents yet? (in official) * can we modify guns at a bench as was teased years ago? * can you throw grenades yet? (was a regression around 1.0 where they'd bug out and land at your feet or detonate prematurely) * are broken legs back in game where you must crawl if they're broken? This was a major turnoff for me when they removed this mechanic. * is loot spawning balanced? By this, I mean is not impossible to find automatic rifles like aks or m4s but also not super easy? * is melee fixed? 1.0 had a regression where you could easily knock people out and using melee weapons was super clumsy. * my other biggest complaint was that cars require 20 hours to find all the components only to become unusable at the slightest bump where components break. Or worse, they bug out and go into space. I see the latter is still an issue which is disappointing. Overall, I prefer to play on official servers and not modded servers bc I don't want to deal with admin abuse. And have to rely on their own spin on the game with a hodge podge of mods I like but also a bunch I dislike. Thanks

But there IS paid DLC coming up? You guys have got some nerve. Wow.

IS dayZ going to have a presence at E3 next month?
boggle replied to philbur's topic in General Discussion
For the integrity of this game, I hope to god that they don't. But if they did they would just show low pop servers that don't have flying cars and not mention all of the promises that have fallen short and weren't implemented/re-implemented. -
Yeah, that's why you have someone else fill in for said person on vacation. Not sure why Europe can't figure that out. Our German colleagues are the same way. Here in the states, only one of the engineers in our group is allowed to be absent at once. That way things keep moving. I always thought it was common sense.....

It's in it's official released state, so people are judging it as a finished game, as you should. It's got major issues and in some regards, is behind standalone and the mod. It's not dead yet but it's heading that direction, fast.

Whats your opinion about post 1.0 updates, development pace and game quality ?
boggle replied to Mantasisg's topic in General Discussion
Have you guys considered having some form of "status report"? maybe rename it since everyone associates that with pre-release development. The current cycle of every two months or whatever it is, I believe, is part of the problem. If the game was polished at release and full features, communication wouldn't matter as much, but the game seems as though it's in still in as much development as it was pre-release (or it should be anyway). So having better communication with the customers about development etc, seems like it would help? There is plenty of communication here, but lets be honest, most of the customers don't use this forum and probably use reddit or other social media. Letting the customers know that there is progress and effort going into development, might aid in lowering frustrations with the game, and keep people from abandoning it. Without a player base, this game will be dead because so much relies on player interaction. Anyway, I may be way off base with this, maybe it is the wrong approach, I'm not a PR person. But I'm just speaking my mind and I don't intend this to sound rude, just trying to provide my take on it. Maybe I'm a minority regarding this stuff too. -

>development pace and game quality Performance of the game is much better but it's lacking many core features that made DayZ SA great. I also love the more deadly infected. Not a fan of the stagger when hit bc you can just get trapped and can't move or fight back. Overall game quality is great, but game quality comparing it to DayZ SA Early access, it has some to be desired. My biggest peeve is the absence of throwing objects, and broken legs. I think they went over the top with car repairs. They are so damn difficult to get running now it's not even worth it. It would be if we had bases that could be secured...... Base building is a joke. Anyone can break in a matter of minutes. There is absolutely no point to them. It's clear their design intent was for them to simply be something for us to do, and no desire for them to be secure. I don't want to see them impenetrable, but there needs to be some tweaks done to the balance of destruction vs construction times. Development pace. Given the state of the game, it's bad. Had they left it in beta or EA until more of the game was complete, then the current development pace would be fine. It definitely feels half assed and like the BI overlords just got sick of paying for development and wanted to get that console sale $$ now. This game requires other players for it to be fun. There were many people waiting for 1.0 because we were told that it will be finished at that point. Now that the game has been released at 1.0 in it's current state, those people returning will return and see all of the missing features, and it definitely appears as if they just half assed it. Then Baty revealing that helicopters and throwing physics aren't even on the schedule is a BIG deal. Between these two things, many will abandon the game and never look back, especially with the lack of communication from BI now. Overall, I'm very disappointed with the state of the game and it's development. It's a diamond in the rough and it's like they just gave up. -
Agreed. Especially with how deadly infected are and how important stealth is now. Very disappointing.

Lots of development in Linux gaming, with Steam's Proton and such. Also I found this wine workaround someone made but haven't tried it. I know the main showstopper is that Battleye doesn't like linux. That's what the above wine workaround is supposed to help with... wine score of dayz steam proton score of dayz

One that announces new stable or experimental releases for example?

Good tip. But I'll just stay away from them until their on fully working order and these game breaking bugs with them are fixed.

Since 1.01? Early last week I got into the driver's seat and died instantly bc it flipped for no reason. My character that had survived multiple firefights and close calls for about 30 hours, dead bc of this. So I'm a little reluctant to even try using them.

Eh I guess not much changes anyway so I can just stop by here in a year and see if cars are land traveling vehicles yet.

This isn't a rss feed though

Any progress on fixing the graphical bugs with foliage and trees, when alpha to coverage all trees+All grass is enabled? Problem is that there is a blue mesh that appears on trees and bushes, also on the coniferous trees (needled trees) there is white speckling when ATOC AT+AG is enabled. On the dayz subreddit, people have confirmed this on both nvidia and AMD cards. I'm not sure if there is a bug ticket for this or not, but if there is let me know and I'll monitor that

This won't work because he can't see my inventory. I'd be verbally explaining which I can do via text. This is why I was looking for a video.....

I've got a buddy that's just trying 0.63 for the first time. Is there a good video explaining the new user interface? (interacting with items, crafting, equipping items, etc)

https://www.gamingonlinux.com/articles/dxvk-the-vulkan-compatibility-layer-for-direct3d-11-and-wine-has-a-fresh-release-reducing-cpu-overhead.11545 New release of DXVK for WINE in Linux. Lots of people reporting that it's allowing many games to become playable and more stable in linux wine. Anyone Know if Dayz SA works now? God I wish the devs would release a linux build, even if it's after the final release for Windows and console...

I don't use reddit, and although this forum is nice, I'd like to be able to add an rss feed from announcements from the devs or Baty so I can just get the alert on my rss reader. Does something like that exist?

RSS feed for dev announcements on this forum?

Understandable. Thanks! -

any news on this capability yet? thanks -
Well you must not have read the disclaimer then. If you bought it with the intention of playing it when it is all polished and done, then why are you complaining right now? It is currently being "polished".

I'm constantly thinking of things that would allow us to run straight into the woods at spawn to live off of the land. Rope is essential in MANY craftable things right now. I know you can create rope with 2 stacks of 6 rags. But I think it would be cool if we could craft rope from leather strips or something. Maybe use a snare to catch a rabbit then use that leather to craft a rope (first the way that we tan leather would need overhauling, as I've mentioned before in this thread)

Out of curiousity, what all do you/can you use it for? I know you can use it to tie people up, rabbit snares, and trip wires with a grenade. Anything else?

Items That Don't Spawn Anymore
boggle replied to Weyland Yutani (DayZ)'s topic in General Discussion
I guess. But it's not completely unrealistic. IRL if you had no water bottle I'm sure you'd make a cooking pot work as a water carrying device if necessary.
