Aah. It seems we have failure in your sense of humour chip. I would advise having it replaced because laughter is the best medicine! Have a nice day!

DayZ - ACE (No CoD Kiddie Comments)

I think there was a thread a day or two ago re. combining ACE & DayZ; http://dayzmod.com/forum/showthread.php?tid=24005 In which; Sorry' date=' but we have absolutely no interest in DayZ. Neither will there ever be a ACE DayZ nor will we hand out permissions to use ACE features in DayZ. Xeno [/quote'] Great idea folks, but it doesn't look as if it's likely to happen anytime soon.
  4. I wonder if anybody knows the collective noun for a group of trolls? A herd? A Horde? A Flock? A Gaggle? A mob? A forum? Personally I quite like the idea of a "flock of Trolls". Kinda like sheep and people's behaviour in groups. Incidentally, I figure that this makes me equally guilty of OP's point 3. But I don't mind admitting that.
  5. I've played about 312 hours in the last 36 days. My longest surviving toon lived for 7 days. My current toon is on day 6.

    No competent player should die

So come on then big, bad Machine... tell us all which server you like to shoot noobs on?

Yep. i think you hit the nail on the head.
  12. @OP I couldn't agree with you more!

@OP You sir are an egomaniac and a total douche! Evidently a coward as well. Rather than play with the big boys further north you choose to camp in the south where most players don't know their arse from their elbow and educate them by server hop sniping! That must be a really challenging role for someone of your obvious ingame abilities. I'm so impressed by your smug, self justifications for your invaluable role as self appointed noob educator par excellence, that I might just have to travel south to see if you can shoot me too, so that I can learn your valuable lesson firsthand! You must be really, really bored. What a loathsome TROLL! I suggest that you find a bridge and live under it!

    Banned for "NightCrawling" ?

No. I believe that you are completely missing the point! You seem to be advocating the enforcement of some arbitrary set of rules as to when a player can or cannot disconnect from a server. If the player was not actively engaged in PvP (or Zombie aggro) at the time of disconnect there really is no problem worth arguing about. Unless he DC'ed to gain some tactical advantage against an identified threat when respawning after a server hop. That is crappy, exploitative gameplay that I have no difficulty in condemning outright. However that is not what the OP describes. It may strike you as cowardice, which is fine. It strikes you as cheating! I disagree. Every location in DayZ is potentially vulnerable to PvP at any time. If DC'ing in a vulnerable location after the end of a PvP shootout and before the possibility of another is cheating? Then every player would be a cheat by that definition unless they were logged in 24hrs a day. Not practical is it? I agree with you in principle that DC'ing at the airfield is a daft idea (I wouldn't do it), but if a player chooses to do so, then it is down to them. Telling players what they "should" or "shouldn't" do is purely a matter of opinion and in a sandbox game mod like DayZ the choice and responsibility for the consequences of a players ingame actions remains with the player alone. There is no right or wrong way to play DayZ! I'm getting really bored with the forum fascists who just keep telling other players what they should or shouldn't do! Rocket and the Devs are the ones who set the rules for this environment and will ultimately decide where the boundaries of acceptable game play lie. Until they decide where those are, it seems to me that, the best that we can do as alpha testers, is to make constructive suggestions as to how game play mechanics can be improved to remove the opportunity for ingame exploitation. Rather than telling others how to play the game "my way". Because "I'm right and you're wrong". The only way is Rockets way! Perhaps trying to sway his opinion with reasoned logical argument would be more constructive than condemning other players for a play style that is different from your own.

Well, I think it's obvious. If even thinking that there may be other players in the area or even on the map means that you shouldn't DC at all! Then the only thing that will please all of the folk accusing the OP of DC'ing during PvP is removing the ability to DC at all. Now that would be hardcore! Anything less just makes you a whining pussy! If you guys want immersion, you don't want folk to disconnect even when they're not in combat, there appears to be nothing else that will stop your whining! So suck it up and prepare for a 24hr gaming experience. In fact I suggest you be chained to your gaming chairs, with a portaloo beside you, a fridge/freezer and a gas stove so you don't have to leave your precious game ever! Immersive enough for you? Now seriously, get a life guys. It is only a Game. Some of you take it far, far too seriously!!! @OP... From your description of events I don't believe that you did anything worthy of criticism or a ban. You were not actually engaged in PvP at the time you DC'ed. Ignore the trolls and keep on keeping on.

I KNOW you're an exploiter if you disagree

Where are you getting these statistics from? Or are you just magically pulling them out of your behind? A more constructive idea might be to ask Rocket and the Devs what statistics they already collect and see if those statistics can be used to support your premise? Your accusations that those who disagree with you, are either "exploiters or incredibly selfish" is pure hogwash! Show some maturity! The majority of players seem to be silent on most issues! They're too busy playing DayZ to spend time whining about it on the forums (last 24hrs being the exception). You claim to speak for the majority... prove it!

    Guilt?

I was on an EU server yesterday and was heading towards a deer stand south of Stary Sobor. I was about 150m from said deer stand and at the top of a hill looking down into the valley, when I see a survivor just exiting the deer stand. Wow! I had the drop on another player. It's normally the other way round and I end up back at the beach. Figuring he'd probably spotted me too, I took cover behind a tree and raised my M16 in preparation for a fight. Next thing I know, this survivor is heading up the hill directly towards me with his primary weapon over his shoulder. I just asked myself, do I or don't I? Do I need to shoot or not? Moral dilemma, right? Well, this survivor ran within about 5 metres of my toon and didn't even appear to look at me. So I let him go and watched him go over the crest of the hill behind me. I don't know if he realised how close he was to starting back at the beach? But, truth be told, I'm glad I didn't open fire on him! As far as I could see, he was just another raggedy-ass survivor trying to make it through the Zombie apocalypse! I changed position, observed for a while, checked the deer stand and then moved on. I felt good about my 3 day old toon and figured that if there is any justice in DayZ, that just maybe, the next time a player has the drop on me and has me in his sights, he may just think a moment before pulling that trigger. Then I realised that I was only kidding myself and that paranoid is the only way to be in DayZ! But if I have you in my sights next time, I will still probably choose not to shoot because I don't need to player kill to fulfill my ingame needs! And that's why I'll almost certainly be seeing you back at the beach sometime. No worries.

I KNOW you're an exploiter if you disagree

@OP You sir, are a TROLL! How about contributing to one of the other hundreds of threads that already discuss this problem instead, rather than start a new one. + Try opening your mind to alternative viewpoints. It is a useful life skill. Closing your mind to them tends to make you a bigot. No one is right all the time. As for the "needs of the many, outweigh the needs of the few" Star Trek fan club crew... Go back to Star Trek please. You don't "need" to impose draconian measures on all, to deal with the questionable behaviour of the few. You may "want" to do so, but there is a difference!

    A DayZ song? Yep.

    Great fun!
  21. Here we go... the same old argument again! It is getting really old. It seems to me that the OP's thread title invalidates the whole discussion anyway. "i persoanlly would love to see third person removed entirely" You are entitled to hold your own "personal" opinions, just as others are entitled to hold theirs. You personally don't like 3rd person view. Fine don't play on servers that have it enabled. No problem! But please don't suggest to the devs that because you don't like it, it should be removed for all of those that do. Your argument is as self defeating and whiney as the carebear arguments you (self-titled) hardcore players so despise. As long as all the players on the same server are playing by the same rules, the playing field is level and every player (barring hackers, DC'ers etc) has equal opportunity and handicaps. And to those who say that there aren't enough servers using only 1st person view, maybe you should ask yourself why? Because the majority of people don't want it! You can blame it on the influx of young/new COD/BF players if you like, but you forget that it is the huge numbers of new players that will determine the future success or failure of DayZ as a project. I for one would like to see DayZ and Rocket succeed! With all the work he's been putting in, he deserves his green lamborghini. And keeping DayZ accessible only for the few players with the loudest, most strident voices within the community is unlikely to bring Rocket and team the success they so deserve. Please remember that this is/will be a game and that not every player has the same ability or time or interest to commit to it as every other player. There are levels of difficulty (recruit, regular & veteran) for a reason. If every player was forced to play in one particular mode from the start (i.e. 1st person view only & probably on veteran setting by the OP's tone) many people would quit because the learning curve is too steep for them. By encouraging newer players to progress as their ability increases to veteran and 1st person perspective would seem to be a far more constructive approach and of greater benefit to the community as a whole, rather than attempting to force it down peoples throats. So maybe you leetist, hardcore, 1st person super gamers could mentor less able players rather than bully and browbeat them on the forums?

    Fantastic

I think you mean "had there" :D I fell from the sky spawing in once not long ago. Logged off under a pine tree that has branches all the way to the ground. Not sure if that had something to do with it. I managed to live because I was not unconscious for long . had every other issue and the goods to fix it all. I've had the same thing happen to me a couple of times. Hiding under the boughs of a pine tree when I log off. Log back on and suddenly I seem to be falling and then hear the bone crunch... timer starts and I'm dead before it's finished. "Rip it up and start again" LOL Almost all of my other deaths are down to the shoot first crew! Most of them from behind. Aah well, that's what happens when you go solo. No worries.
