  1. You're wrong. Barrel condition and ammo are not the only really two noticable things that affect accuracy. In AKs, if the front trunnion is improperly pressed into the receiver, it can severely affect accuracy. If the chamber isn't properly reamed, it can affect accuracy, if the barrel on rifles like AR-15s aren't properly screwed in, it can affect accuracy. I could go on but I have a feeling all of this is going over your head. I never said that bipods or muzzle brakes would affect accuracy. I am calling you out on saying that the only things that really affect accuracy is the ammo and barrel. Anything that touches the barrel can substantially affect the point of impact due to barrel harmonics, as others including myself have said. There are many different things that can affect the accuracy of a particular firearm. The condition of the barrel crown, rifling, chamber, and the type of ammunition used are two of them but they are not the only ones that matter.
  2. Either you're lying about owning firearms or you're very misinformed. The condition of the barrel and the type of ammo are not the only two factors that affect accuracy. There are many different factors. If you put the wrong type of handguards on a rifle or put them on improperly, it can adversely affect accuracy because it can affect barrel harmonics. It's why milsurp rifles like the 91/30 and M44 shift their point of impact when the bayonet is fixed. A similar thing occurs if you improperly tighten the forward retaining band on a Lee Enfield. Stop talking about things you have no knowledge of.

World War 2 Weapons Thread (Poll)

You have zero reading comprehension. I never said that you told me it would be found in police stations. I said that out of convenience when explaining how ridiculous it would be to find an AN-94 ANYWHERE outside an armorer's locker room in Russia. I also brought up the mod because you brought up how you could find a crashed helicopter with dead special forces on it, which is from the mod. I didn't think I'd have to explain the simplicity of speech to you in addition to explaining why a rifle that is barely out of testing is a poor choice for being in the loot tables of a post-apocalyptic survival game. You can also keep your terrible links from worldguns to yourself since it's filled with misinformation. The AN-94 is not in any respectable service numbers, not even slightly. IT MAKES NO SENSE TO HAVE THE AN-94 IN A POST APOCALYPTIC SURVIVAL GAME BASED ON REALISM. I really don't know how I can drill this any further into your head. And save your pseudo gun history lessons for your friends, I actually own firearms and know what I'm talking about.
  4. Seems like there is a lot of 15 year old high schoolers in this thread.

Mausers are extremely common. The G41 may not really make sense since only few were made before being replaced by the G43 which also wasn't produced in impressive numbers, but there was some 15 million K98k rifles produced alone, not counting other designs like the M24, M48, etc.. Considering the huge scale of the Eastern Front and the number of RC K98s in the United States alone, it makes quite a bit of sense to see a Mauser of some type.

You really just aren't getting it. It makes zero sense for it to be in the game. Zero. And it also doesn't make sense to bring up the weapons in the mod because the mod had to use what was available, not making them from scratch. It's why stuff like the No.4 Mk.1 and SA80 is in the mod but not the standalone. The AK-12 and AN-94 have zero place in the game. They are experimental weapons, with the AK-12 not even being in any active service and has no plans to be introduced for quite some time. If this game was some 60 years in the future, then perhaps it would, but not now. The AN-94 is a completely different story seeing how basically no one is issued it, even in the Russian armed forces. The overwhelming vast majority of the military uses the AK-74M with many units still using the AKM, including the Spetsnaz. It would make more sense to include things like the VSS and GsH-18 than it ever would the AN-94 let alone the AK-12. I'm dumbfounded that anyone would think the AK-12 being in DayZ is a good idea. The AK-12 being in the Czech Republic after the apocalypse makes as much sense as finding an OICW in New Jersey if the game took place there instead. Unless they plan on suddenly adding an experimental weapons lab in DayZ, then it makes no sense to include it considering the entire area looks like it's from the 1980s.
  7. I don't think it's a good idea. People have offered explanations for why there are American weapons in the game already. For one, we supplied the Georgians with thousands of M4 Carbines, which the Russians captured and destroyed during the South Ossetia Conflict, so we have been trading them with East Europe for quite some time. The Russians even captured some American Humvees and used them. Second, it could be from relief efforts that fell through. NATO forces could have been in the area to quarantine things or for similar reasons and just were overtaken and left. Green Mountain was a military checkpoint with body pits and abandoned outposts. It could just be that NATO got involved. Besides that, the SIG rifle isn't that great of an idea. It's just a SIG 550 in 7.62x39 and it just doesn't belong in the area. It's like having an AR-15 in 7.62x39 there, it doesn't make sense. Seeing how it's modeled on some Czech area, there should be Vz.58s, Cz,52s, Vz.52s, Cz.83s, etc. Of course in addition to the regular combloc stuff like the SKS and AKM.

What makes you think the game takes place in the future? Let alone in the future long enough to the point that the AN-94 and AK-12 are even in respectable numbers in service? You're sounding like a CoD kiddie because you're suggesting experimental rifles still in testing to be added to a game that's centered on realism. It makes zero sense to find an AK-12 after society collapses in the police station of some Czech town that looks like it was taken straight from 1983.

It's a stupid idea, a really stupid idea. Something that everyone seems to realize but you. Why would the developers waste time catering to people like you who want a rifle that's barely in anyone's hands of people other than armorers? They have real shit to do like adding the content they've been working on for months. But yeah, let's have them waste time rendering models and animations and code in their mechanics so Cawadooty lovers can have a futuristic looking gun in DayZ with a 1/1,000,000,000 chance to spawn in loot tables.

You seem upset. It makes zero sense to have either rifle in the game at all. The game takes place in some fictional Czech area. I brought up Cawadooty because they are the kind of game to add weapons like this that are barely out of testing let alone in service. This is DayZ, not some action FPS. It's not perfectly reason to think certain soldiers would want the rifle because that's not how the military works. You think a soldier gets their service weapon during a tour simply based on their own choice? I could join the Russia Army and ask all day for an AK-12 and I'd get laughed at and handed an AK-74M like everyone else.

This isn't Call of Duty. Why would the developers want to add experimental rifles that are in very limited numbers even today?

    Tranquilizer Gun

But the person isn't going to just stop moving and wait around for five minutes until they fall asleep. If you see someone and raise a gun at them, they are going shoot back. Even if you hit them with a tranquilizer, good luck on not being shot in the resulting firefight while you wait for them to fall asleep. Good luck again on finding them in time. Good luck once more on managing to loot their bodies in an area that's now swarming with zombies from the gun fire and other players alerted to your location from the fire fight. It's a stupid idea that would be too difficult to implement and even more so to make useful. The whole 'moral' side to this story is bullshit too. You have morals so you don't want to kill them? But instead you're going to shoot them with a tranquilizer, steal anything useful they have, and leave their exposed body just chilling out in the open for twenty minutes? I'd rather just be shot and respawn than to be knocked out at an airfield or outside a supermarket or hospital for ten minutes, wake up, and then find all my gear gone. That's even if someone doesn't just shoot me while I'm passed out or I'm not killed by zombies. If this was ever added, which it won't be because it's a terrible idea, and I was shot with one of these tranquilizer darts, I would just start sprinting through the grass and trees while dropping my gear until I passed out so I won't have anything on me when they find me and they will have to spend a half hour combing the grass for the stuff I dropped over a 1500 meter area.

    Tranquilizer Gun

What's there to talk about? I collect and shoot firearms as part of my hobby. And what does this have to do with anything? I made a point about how someone said rubber bullets to different parts of the body would do different things and how this was stupid because a rubber bullet to the head could kill you, not knock you out for three minutes and you can just get right back up and do whatever you were doing. But it's highly unlikely and stupid to make a different about where and what happens what you get shot with one because in any place you get shot, you will seize up and fall to the ground. Putting tranquilizer guns in the game is an even stupider idea. What would a tranquilizer gun with darts that contain a very specific and rare elephant tranquilizer be doing in the Czech Republic in the post apocalypse?

    Tranquilizer Gun

Actually, they do. Because firearms are part of my hobby. Seems you don't understand how rubber bullets or tasers work either. A rubber bullet to the head can kill. When police use them (which isn't often and the only people who really use them are prison guards), they are told not to aim for the head. Same for beanbag rounds. A taser to any part of the body is going to have the same effect as long as both barbs make contact. It doesn't matter if you are hit in the neck or in the legs. You will seize up in pain and fall to the ground. You do not get knocked out and the pain stops immediately once the current stops. As soon as the flow of electricity stops, you can get right back up.
