This sounds like you just want to be safe from server hoppers while looting high loot areas. I think there are easier ways to do that (like playing on private servers) then literally teleporting people who logout at military bases or an attempt at preventing people from logging out there. Even if they did add in a 'You can't logout here" zone, whats to stop someone from pushing alt F4, or cntrl alt delete, or just simply unplugging their internet or even turning the pc off? It wouldn't work, at all. I suggest staying on private hives to avoid server jumpers. Problem solved without typing a line of code :)

I used to get killed by hackers and wall glitchers at least once a week. You learn to avoid those areas & public servers after a few times. The streamer will learn just like most people have. Plus, this post is pretty much a waste because once the new player controller is implemented, this shouldn't be a problem anyway. Straight up hackers will probably be an issue all the way to 1.0, but staying on private hives helps.

So I have found a Crossbow in .61, and like 20 bolts (stacks of 5). My problem is I can't figure out how to load the stupid thing lol. No matter what I did, I couldn't get the bolt to be loaded into the bow. To be fair, I have never used a crossbow in any patch so it may just be an operator error.

As far as I understand it, the core enfusion engine is in place but a lot of systems that depend on the new engine are not implemented yet. A lot of things are placeholders until the stuff is ready. The devs gave an analogy which I think is brilliant: its like trying to fix a car while it's driving down the highway. Dont take that wheel off until the new one is ready to go on lol

The controller system is already modified yes, but it is the same legacy controller that dayz standalone launched with. Just do a google search for new player controller dayz standalone, and you will get a ton of info. They (the developers) have been talking bout a new system for player controller for a long time now. Do a google search man :)

They have already announced, and been talking about a new player controller and new animations. The devs have addrssed these issues plenty of times, and are fully aware. They dont want to spend time and resources fixing bugs in an obsolete system that is going to be replaced anyway.

Pushing traffic to castles and Northern Highway
JBURNS489 replied to BeaverProductions's topic in General Discussion
They are either really, really committed, or are straight up lieing lol. I started playing DayZ in earnest this past February, and i have around 350 hours in game time. I will probably hit somewhere around 500 hours by the end of the year (maybe more depending on .61!), meaning it would take me almost 9 years of playing to get 4,000+ hours lol. I have a full time job, a wife, and a passion for football, which all come before DayZ. -
I am okay with the way loot has been distributed .60. I like that the coast is basically empty, pushing survivors inland to find what they need to survive. My only gripe is that there are several miltary installations on the eastern side of the map that currently do not spawn anything at all. My vote would to be spread out the military loot across ALL military installations.

i liked the music and story wasn't bad...Canon in D. You should have switched to the Jerry C Rock version at some point lol. The fact that it kept changing to black and white threw me off. If you kept it in color, I think it would be a bit better :). Nice video

I personally don't really care one bit which direction a door swings open. That isn't breaking my immersion at all. However, if I had to manually open and close a door each time I wanted to check a house for loot, that would irritate the crap out of me. I could imagine a situation with less than ideal ping, and getting stuck while watching an enemy run up and take aim while I am still stuck trying to close the door. I don't mind seeing an animation of a hand pushing/closing a door, but to use your mouse to swing the doors open and closed like Amnesia would be beyond irritating for me. It works in Amnesia only because you WANT to stay silent, and you may want to peek through a crack in a door before opening it all the way. In DayZ, there are way too many doors for that to be fun or enjoyable, at least for me. Plus, if the doors were controlled by your mouse, you couldn't do anything else besides opening that door. What if you are being chased by a horde of zombies, and are trying to take shelter inside a building? I don't want to stop running just to open the door, then have to turn around to close it too! I don't want to risk death because I couldn't close a door fast enough. Even if they can break the door down, it would still give you 5-10 secs to think and plan your next move, if the doors are easy to use.

Just go read some Status Reports to get more info about infected and their dynamic spawning but the gist of it is this: The overall number of zombies probably won't be scaled up until its been proven that the server can handle such a load, but it will SEEM like there are more spawning. Currently, the entire map is populated with infected all at once, meaning there are areas where there are no people with infected spawned, which hogs the server resources. The dynamic part means the zombies won't spawn UNTIL a player enters the area, and they are working on ways to prevent the meta gaming aspect that comes along with that (See an empty town? no players. See zombies from afar just idling there = player in the area) As far as the shotgun goes, it is one the poorest weapon choices in DayZ standalone in my opinion. As far as I can tell, the best you can hope for with a shotgun is to cause someone to bleed enough that they will eventually pass out. They have announced they are working on wounded animations, though. I haven't tested it, but have been told that its damn near impossible to actually kill anyone with the shotgun. The devs have said that type of balancing will happen during the beta.

That was really, really good. I don't know about the technical limitations or the difficulty of coding something like that, but it would be amazing if DayZ sounded like that. Honestly, I would be interested in ANY game that had that great of audio. The only thing I wanted to hear that I didn't, was some infected/zombie sounds, especially during the night time rain. On a side note, you should make some DayZ "movies" or lend your services to someone to enhance their audio in their production. That was some cinematic level stuff man, well done!

Agreed with Funkmaster. Your Graphics card isn't great, but everything else is up to par. You should have a playable experiene on medium settings on your laptop

I honestly don't have a clue what could be causing this...my best guess is you may have some sort of IP or Ad Blocker active that may be preventing you from connecting with DayZ servers? If that were the case you would probably get an error before you even made it to the server selection screen. Make sure DayZ is allowed through your firewall if you have one. A quick google search should help you figure that out. Also, If you have Teamviewer or something similar installed and running when you launch DayZ, that can mess with the game also. Not sure exactly why, but I have to make sure Teamviewer or any other remote desktop connection software is disabled before running DayZ. Do you get any error messages when loading steam or when trying to connect to battle eye when you first start Dayz?

There are already pistol holsters in game. It is hard to find in this patch, but there are actually several different kinds. The pistol holster by itself goes across your chest. There is also a pistol holster attachment, which is also hard to find, for the plate carrier. You can attach pouches and a pistol holster right to the vest itself. They are out there, although I have admittedly not found any in this patch. Just keep looking around military installations.

Good tips. Also, apple trees will save your life. Eat as many as you can, whenever you can.

Players Of DayZ - Topics I've Seen And Discussion[Try Something New]
JBURNS489 replied to Vexatious's topic in General Discussion
Server admins do a lot of things against their terms of hosting. There is no accountability or oversight, so people will continue to make server names "high loot fast respawn" and server admins will continue to kick and ban people for whatever reason they want. Until DayZ or Bohemia actually enforces their hosting terms, it will contonue to be a problem. Right now, its sort of like complaining that people are driving over the speed limit. Who cares, and who is going to do anything about it? -

I do not know the fix for it, but there are a ton of threads talking about it. I would suggest reading through the forum and look for someone who has already solved the memory could notbe read issue.

There is a game called The Forest that is developed by Endnight Games. They are an independent studio in Canada, and have literally NEVER made a game before. The Forest is their first title, and with a small staff and little to no experience , the game gets updates at an almost ridiculously fast pace. I would even go as far as to say the graphics are slightly better than DayZ (only because you dont see thing pop into high resolution 10m away). They are also still in early access, but you can expect a major patch at least once a month, and hotfixes almost daily. I love DayZ, but something is definitely up with the speed of development. How can a smaller company with no experience and less resources, produce and develop a similar and arguably better game in a shorter amount of time? There are many examples I could have used, but I feel like DayZ and The Forest represent the extremes of development speed on both the slow and fast side respectively. With all that said, I still check the forums for DayZ pretty much daily for new updates. I have over 300 hours in the game so far, and I am sure I will put another 300 in once the game reaches a stage of development that can sustain my interest.

Thanks for the update. Sounds like a big patch coming. Looking forward to it!

So, character resets are still a thing then.
JBURNS489 replied to Mookie (original)'s topic in General Discussion
When you log off, your character can stay in game for like 30seconds. It's possible to kill someone who has already closed the game because their character is still visible in the server. I think this happens because it was either an attempt at stopping combat logging or it just happens because of how it is coded and hasn't been addressed yet. This could've been what happened to you. I haven't heard of anyone having issues with character resets recently -
A Ssd is a great upgrade no doubt about it, but it will only help gaming performance in a very limited scope. Mostly just loading screens will be shorter. The majority of game's rendering is done with your Cpu and GPU. You may notice a slight fps improvement, especially in open world games like dayz, but it will be barely noticeable. The CPU reads the game's programming and decides to either follow the command itself or send it to the GPU for processing. It will first read aka load the required files on your hard drive, and then process and render the image into the game you see and play. A SSD will load the data required by your grqphics card a lot faster, but it will still only be able to process it at at the same speed as before. To really upgrade gaming performance, your best bet is usually to upgrade your graphics card.
