[0.58] Persistence Breaks Servers
HIHBGaming replied to Weyland Yutani (DayZ)'s topic in General Discussion
We're finding this camp lag being very random at the moment. Camps will lag, then sometimes not. It's seeming to be manageable so far, as long as you warn your community to manage their camps. If they don't want a persistence wipe, they'll hopefully do what they need to do to to prevent the lag from happening in the first place. If a persistence wipe comes, well, it has to happen. I'm just hoping there's a fix in the pipe relatively soon, I'm not a big fan of having to wipe persistence. -
[0.58] Persistence Breaks Servers
HIHBGaming replied to Weyland Yutani (DayZ)'s topic in General Discussion
Update to this, we have had reports that containers inside containers as in, a hunters pack inside a barrel, tent or v3s's may also be the cause of this lag. Testing this theory further. -
Posted our findings in another thread concerning this whole laggy camp issue. https://forums.dayzgame.com/index.php?/topic/228520-058-persistence-breaks-servers/#entry2302398

[0.58] Persistence Breaks Servers
HIHBGaming replied to Weyland Yutani (DayZ)'s topic in General Discussion
The lag has to do with camps and we've determined that the lag can and will happen within 500 metres of a camp. Depending on the size of the camp it could go out even further. We've also determined that anything over 150 items; which includes player inventory items; the camp starts to lag within it's vicinity. We've tested this extensively on our hive and all the results have been the same. The more items you have at that camp, whether it be in barrels, v3s's or tents the vicinity around that camp will lag. We have been telling people to spread the camps out and this has helped but it's only a bandaid and not a real fix. This is an issue that needs a hotfix and shouldn't wait until .59. It's only going to get worse the longer it goes on. -
F#%* Yeah! *Happy Dance*

Right now with .57 it is what it is and equating it to CoD/BF is pretty much spot on. The CoD kids reference, points to the attitude of a lot of people playing the game right now and think that DayZ is going to remain what it is now. Run to a guardhouse gear up, go shoot someone in the face ad nauseam. This can no longer be done in .58, gear is not easy to acquire and is only going to get harder to get with coming updates. With .58, you're going to have to find that gear first to fill up that tent. Putting a tent along the coast will get it found and raided, so that will be a pointless endeavour. You obviously have not played .58 and don't really know what's coming. If you did you would know that your statements are mostly incorrect. I would suggest anyone who doesn't know what .58 is bringing to go play Exp or read up on it, because .58 is going to start bringing the game back to what it should be.
-
You have to go to the north and west for high grade gear, so staying along the coast is pointless in .58. If the CoD kids want to stay along the coast to do their thing, they'll be doing it with pistols and shotguns and hopefully get bored real quick and move on. Also with .58 DayZ is starting to be the game it's supposed to be and the way loot spawning works, hovering on the coast won't get you much of anything.

Would you support global chat being a sever option?
HIHBGaming replied to Shiva_O's topic in General Discussion
I wouldn't really care if it was an option(to each his own) but I certainly wouldn't have it turned on. Sidechat was a moderation headache with all kinds of trolling among other ridiculous things, nevermind being an immersion breaker as well. Radios are to be the new Side Chat anyway so I don't see it becoming an option tbh. -
This already happens depending on what time of year you set the server at. So obviously summer has longer days. Right now on my AU Reg server we got about 1hr 10minutes of night and 3.5hrs of day in one cycle. So you can adjust how long day/night is by just using different yearly dates.
-
It really depends on how fast the acceleration is set. You can get it to transition quite well the slower you set the acceleration to. The whole idea behind having accelerated time is to get full day/night cycles within a shorter period of time, rather than these quite ridiculous time resets at restarts. I also find certain settings allow for a dya/night cycle that isn't the same every day so people who have a set time to play won't see night every day within the time frame they play at. Accelerated time is a good thing imo.

Persistence, dynamic heli spawns and fixed lootapaloozas... Please!

[Logs] "Unknown Entity"(id=Unknown)
HIHBGaming replied to Weyland Yutani (DayZ)'s topic in General Discussion
Tried to PM you on the subject of "Unknown Entity" mate but it appears you cannot receive PM's. This subject is best not talked about in a public forum. ;) In answer to your question... It could be something else but there are ways to detect if it is or isn't. -
Backing up the ManZ - The Right way to deal with Dupers - Alternate POV
HIHBGaming replied to KageyTV's topic in Gallery
Good vid and the right thing done in the end of the other POV. The absolute right thing to do with Dupers is ban them, no questions asked. ;) -
Accelerated time does not effect anything except how fast the Day/Night cycle is.

Steam overlay is a brilliant concept, set the home page to one of any number of DayZ map sites. Giving you both Cyrillic and English city/town names. Like http://dayzdb.com/map Not so hard is it? ;)

As stated in another post. Persistence being a core game mechanic we should not have the option to turn it off. It defeats the purpose of it. We had the option before because it was a bit broken, now that it's coming together and it works(mostly) our option to turn it off has come to an end. It has always been stated that it was going to be this way. I'm not sure why anyone would be surprised that they actually did what they said they were going to do. ;)

Will admins to have option for a dexterity free server?
HIHBGaming replied to Connect3d's topic in General Discussion
The easy mode silliness is starting already and the game isn't even near completion yet. Boy I can't wait til modding... *sigh* -
You forget, in the Mod Zeds could easily be lost in a bush or by running through a building. In the SA, it's not the case. This is not the Mod...
-
My thoughts on this have been said in the past... PvP will change. Will it go away? NO! But... There will definitely have to be a thought process behind that shooting of another player. If people run around shooting everything that moves, they themselves will get mauled by Zeds and either learn from that or move on. Zeds will be a threat and whether people believe it or not the PvP aspect of the game WILL change. With 1000's of Zeds on the map and almost a constant threat how would PvP not change? Think about it.

One of our TOG members has done his first youtube video. It was so bloody brilliant I had to share. Hopefully, it's as enjoyable to the masses as it was to me. ;)

So I'm taking it as persistence is still optional. When will it not be? It was stated that it would be fully implemented in .54. :/

Experimental Branch: 0.54 Discussion
HIHBGaming replied to SmashT's topic in PC Experimental Updates
They may spawn but they persist through restarts unless they've fixed that with this patch. Same thing was happening with .53 persistence. Helis would spawn then the same helis would be there after restart, nobody said they weren't spawning. ;) -

Fix for persistent Helis or lootapaloozas perhaps. Hoping anyway. -
What is going on? - "Bec Service has been terminated."
HIHBGaming replied to Valdenburg's topic in Servers
I'm curious as to what this may mean for Admins using BEC. Are we getting another option? Will we be able to continue using BEC for awhile? I went to the website the other day and saw the termination notice and thought "WTF!?". -
Server Admin Logs not reporting all kills
HIHBGaming replied to UKA Harrysoon's topic in Troubleshooting
I am with Vilayer and we certainly do have kill logs, unless of course you're a public hive. If that's the case then... No soup for you!
