  1. I believe this is an AA setting. I had horrible pixelation like the screenie but when I played around with the AA setting it was mostly fixed. I say mostly because some pixelation is there but far better than it was.
  2. Welcome to DayZ and enjoy the ride. Yours is one of many stories that this game facilitates, DayZ is great stuff!

    New combat system bugs

Flares, Chemlights and whatnot can be used to blind people using NVG's at nighttime, no? I would consider this combat related.

    Where are the AUS/NZ servers?

There's actually a fair few AU/NZ servers out there. Most are Chenarus but there are Lingor and Panthera servers as well. Most have not upgraded as of yet, but if you're using DayZ Commander it's a snap to rollback the versions and connect to a server not running the new patch. Also it seems like at least half; if not more; are private hives, which is a good thing.
  5. No worries, and glad that I could help.
  6. Have you tried ticking both boxes under Steam Options in the DayZ Commander settings? I remember I had a similar issue with DayZ launching from Steam and this sorted it out for me. Hope it helps.

    Usual night in Day Z?

Do a bit of searching around to find a private hive that you like with active admins, it tends to be more enjoyable. With active admins it seems those private hives are virtually hacker free.

how to trick carebears into a death trap

It cracks me up how these kinds of people mistake trolling and grieving as being an Alpha Male. They can't get the attention they want in real life so this is the best they can do. Where they think they dominate in the real world just by the negative reactions they get trolling in forums or being an asshat in game. They can't even justifiably argue their actions in a meaningful and intelligent manner, they just resort to childish banter(trolling). There are true Bandits in this game and there are grieving idiots. The best way to deal with these kind of cretins is to ignore them here or hunt them down in game and put a bullet in their brain. When it comes down to it, they are weak minded individuals and if an apocalypse happened tomorrow, they would be the first ones to succumb to Darwinism.
  10. Some nice updates here and definitely unexpected, thanks! Nice to see the community getting together with the Devs and sorting issues out, I'm sure more updates will be in the pipe. As for some of the people here either bitching about something that has already been cleared up in previous posts or just bitching in general... People should really read the whole thread before posting, rather than being lazy and just reading the list of patches and then going off like a tool. The people bitching in general; which you have a right to do; but seriously, isn't it a good thing that we even got a patch at all? People really need to be thankful for the work that was put into this rather than just bitching and making assumptions about it. Thanks again for the patch!
  11. The point is, there's no mention of anything anywhere of what you're assuming. People need to read Rocket's posts; or any post for that matter; more carefully and comprehend them, not make assumptions on information that is non existent. We all know what happens when people assume...
  12. lol and this is supposed to validate the actions you perceive as being a Bandit or a PvPer? When in actuality all these people who claim they're PvPers or Bandits are just out to grieve others. It is what it is but it still puzzles me as to why.
  13. If the player capacity is dependant on map size and with a server cluster that can handle it, I don't see why a thousand players would be out of the question. Of course it would involve having a map the size of a small planet but in theory it should work.
  14. Seems a lot here are mistaken themselves for Bandits and are just grieving murderers, plain and simple. People sit here and compare DayZ to other FPS's and justify shooting unequipped players in the face with that reasoning. The thing is, in all other FPS's the other player is always a threat and spawn with weapons but in DayZ this is not the case, we all freshly spawn as a non threat. A Bandit constitutes robbing someone with the act of violence, whether that be killing or not. The fact is that most here calling themselves Bandits are just grieving others that are no threat to them just to have a large epeen. The cowardly act of hunting others that are a non threat is puzzling to me and how one gets a rush out of this; when clearly there is no risk to them; is just troubling. PvP is fine and dandy but calling it PvP when the other player can't defend themselves is just the act of a complete coward.
  15. This is really cool stuff! Locking everything down serverside will virtually eliminate the hackers, cheaters and make it extremely hard to get away with it if attempted. What Rocket says about player capacity depending on map size, this could mean we see maps holding hundreds or even thousands of players. I can't wait to get into this!

how to trick carebears into a death trap

    Definitely this!^
  17. I believe the thread is not about the Bandit skin but the actions constituting a Bandit, which shooting unarmed/unequipped people in the face clearly is not a Bandit action. Whether or not they're the same skin isn't the point. As for a moral compass bit... Why does it always come down to name calling and verbal bashing, rather than having a proper discussion? It appears that you can't properly argue the point so resorting to childish banter is all you can muster. Kids these days... *sigh*

Private hive, should i try it?

I find private hives much more pleasurable. If the server has active admins the hackers will virtually be nil and as Fraggle says increase the DayZ fun factor. Welcome to DayZ! :)
  19. Nothing to get all defensive about... Really nothing for me to get over either. I believe I have stated that I accept this is in game but it doesn't make it right. If the purpose of your playing the game is to make people miserable then this is called grieving, in other games this would be frowned upon. I don't think DayZ is an exception just because you think it is and try to justify that it is. Anyway, have fun but karma will always bite you in the ass.
  20. The point I'm really trying to make is that you're calling yourself a Bandit but your actions do not constitute the meaning of it. Again, you're justifying it by throwing it back on others maybe getting a weapon, maybe finding you in the sea of other players and killing you. When in fact they are most likely; especially just new to the game; just finding their way and wanting to play and work things out. Whether I like it or not, I know it's in the game but that doesn't mean it's the right thing to do. Guess my moral compass is intact and not broken like so many others.
  21. I know what you said and am referring to your "unarmed" statements. If you're armed and you get killed and robbed by a Bandit fair enough, you most likely have something they need/want. With the unarmed and unequipped people how can you know they're not new people to the game and a fresh player? How can you know; if their not a new player; they didn't die before to a person like you that just shoots everything they see and were unarmed when it happened? The fact is, you can't. So you justify it by throwing it back on others and faulting them for your actions. The act of shooting unarmed people no matter how you slice it, is cowardly and grieving other players just for the giggle.
  22. But I have, and all I see is you defending your actions by claiming others are doing something wrong. Not sure how an unequipped and unarmed person who can't defend themselves against you is their fault. It's typical of a lot of people to use others as a scapegoat for their cowardly actions.
  23. I don't think the act of being a Bandit should be the reasoning stated by the OPs Title. If you are shooting people just to get a giggle, especially unarmed; which are typically fresh spawns; how can you call yourself a Bandit? A Bandit by definition is one who robs people by violence, obviously when they have something to take. Just shooting someone in the face for the shear giggle factor doesn't constitute a Bandit. This to me is just grieving the unarmed and unequipped fresh spawns and the actions of a person who obviously claims to be something he/she is not to justify it.

40 min into my first ever game of dayz

Yeah definitely a game where patience pays off. The more cautious(Paranoid?) you are, the better off you'll be ;) Reminds me of EvE Online, where awareness is a key to surviving.
  25. Good stuff! Keep the info trickling in :)
