It's a bug and obviously not the server Admins fault. The title and the way things are put in this thread seems to come off like the Admins are intentionally doing so. Maybe you could say "You may or may not" lose gear connecting to these servers. In saying that, gear loss should be a given due to the state of the game. Also, to put these servers in a negative light by making this list I think is the wrong thing to do. If it's a disconnection from the hive; by one cause or another; it may or may not be a consistent thing, this would leave the list as not very reliable and kinda pointless.

Make sure you have the current version of the game or it maybe due to updating to the current test version. The current test version afaik works on the current live servers but who knows what kind of wonkiness it may cause.

Scumbag... Whether or not people seem friendly, one must always be on guard. This is DayZ and is what happens. I always remain aware regardless of whether it's a gearless bambi or someone I'm helping with a broken leg. Have I been killed a number of times? Sure, but I do remain friendly regardless. They would with having a GMT setting for the server, like with Mod servers. A this point in time though, server hosters are having issues with GMT values on their end. Hence why you're seeing all these 24/7 day servers. If they set their servers to local machine time, 9 times out of 10 it will be night when it should be day time. Do I like it? Absolutely not but it's a fix until they figure out how to deal with that issue.

We had it for mod servers and I've been one to be calling for a proper GMT value setting for our SA servers. With a GMT value setting, anyone wanting to play during the day(in game) within their TZ would be able to find a server to play on. Not sure what 24/7 daylight accomplishes except for being easy mode. Admins having GMT value settings would cure most of the issues people have. One thing I'm sure of(well maybe until the advent of private hives) we won't see a shorter day/night cycle as some suggest, not one that is proper anyway. You may have servers that start at a time a few hours before night and then reset to that specific time, which will give you an abrupt day/night cycle. Some actually already do this.

The thing is, they already do agree to any rules and regulations that come down the pipe when they RENT a server. Most are just to ignorant to accept this fact and when they get blacklisted or have their servers shutdown(which I hope is the case) we can sit back and laugh, while they wonder why. :rolleyes: I can guarantee that server logs are/can be looked at any point in time by the appropriate people, it's just a matter of time before we see a crackdown on exploits and the like. The people running servers and not adhering to the rules are kidding themselves if they think they're bulletproof, they obviously never heard of logs before.

^This Although, we really do need some kind of RCon or scheduling system for messaging like BEC or the like. I'm hoping the next patch that includes reserved slots and other Admin goodies has at least the ability for MOTD's.

Gamma/Brightness adjustments should be locked out or shouldn't work at night even if not locked. Why even bother playing on a night time server if you're going to turn it into day with gamma/brightness adjustments? Maybe to have an advantage over people who do not use the gamma/brightness adjustments? Doesn't make sense to me and never will.

Ammo should be much rarer than it is currently and I'm sure it will be once they start balancing loot tables. At the moment; as we all know; loot tables are a bit our of whack.

Definite problem there and I really thought servers had to have a minimum slot count of like 30. Still early Alpha though and I'm guessing after the holidays they will start the crackdown, one can only hope.

You cannot put all public hives in the same basket mate, that's just wrong. Not all of us Admins are retards and to give all of us a bad rap is ignorant.

Renting a server doesn't make it yours. Key word is "renting". Now, to rent that server you need to abide by the rules set out by Devs and/or the hosters. You in fact agree to said rules upon renting that server whether it be dedicated or VPS. So to sit there and say "This is my fucking server and I do what I want" is signs of an Admin that will do whatever it takes to get what they want, regardless of knowing the rules to abide by. Admins need to be responsible in the way they do things, they need to be impartial if they play the game, they also need to realize that being an Admin is not for themselves but the benefit of the game and the community. These selfish Admins then give the decent ones a bad rap. The only thing I can say is that, it starting early lets us know which servers to stay away from. I said it before... There needs to be an aptitude test so not every fuckwit can rent a server but this is a pipe dream of mine. ;)

Oh but it is Admin abuse... Instead of not being able to lock their servers per the rules, they're using the kick function as a unintended lock. I would say most are using this to gear and then server hop which could be construed as an exploit. Bad Admins no matter how you slice it.

You have fun on your empty server, because most likely that's how it's going to remain. When server hopping(which is what they're exploiting) is dealt with, it still remains that the decision to do what they're doing, comes down to a bad Admin. If they're doing this now and more server functions come down the pipe, I can only imagine how reckless they're going to be.

And I'm almost sure this is not the intention of the Kick function that we Admins have atm but hey, at least we know early as to who the bad Admins are going to be. Or am I wrong? ;)

Technically it's not YOUR server, you are renting it and have to adhere to certain rules set out by the Standalone Devs. Hosters can/will terminate your server if you refuse to comply with these rules. Take this however you want but paying to rent a server does not make it yours to do whatever you please. I think kicking was meant to remove players that are causing issues not just to kick anyone who you deem unfit to play on your server.
