Lots of unfinished areas up North, took a run around there a couple days ago. Up north past NWAF then East, lots or areas looking like stuff should be there but empty as. I would think that we should see some of these areas relatively soon. While I was running around, I did think to myself that it would be cool to sit on those benches that I saw in this run down park I passed by. -

Rocket did mention something about having military Zeds as well as some of those having some kind of military armour or riot gear in his last stream. Guaranteed we won't see any kind of L4D crap Zeds in DayZ. -
I welcome harder hitting, harder to take down and more numbers of Zeds. They should take more than 1 body shot as they currently do, have a chance to knock you down(like the mod) and hit like trucks. I have faith in the Devs to bring this to the SA and can't wait!

Maybe if you use a static day or a custom date(for full moon nights) within the settings. If not static or custom it should follow a real world day/night cycle, according to seasons and also having moon cycles. This of course was in the Mod and I would think in the SA, except the time values in the SA atm seem to be a bit broken.

My response was to your statement made in post #3 and wanted to clarify that DayZ uses real world day/night cycles. And yes, it was meant to be 12hour/12hour day/night cycle but considering you said it first I followed suit. ;)

There is such a thing as remaining at safe distance as to not get pummelled/axed by someone your helping. You can tell them to drop their weapon, handcuff them if you feel unsafe. I don't trust anyone unless I know them irl or been running with them in game for quite awhile. In saying that, not trusting people doesn't mean to just shoot them in the face and carry on. The human interaction in DayZ can be far more exhilarating because indeed you have no idea how it's going to end up. Whereas just shooting everyone you meet(or see) you know how it's going to end, to me that would get quite old quite fast. There are many ways to interact with people in DayZ. KOS is just the easy way out because the effort to actually interact with people is too hard.

Again, it's the server hoster companies that are having issues setting the server times properly. For example, my server is hosted in Sydney AU; which is currently GMT+11; but when I login to my server it's night when it should be day. So the fix for this at the moment is to set the server to 24/7 day, I'm not happy about it but it's the best option for the moment. The hoster is telling me that the server box is set to GMT+11 and it is a bug that needs to be addressed and it's not just my hosting company that has this issue. Hopefully I clarified the issue at hand. I am hoping for a GMT setting for us Admins like the Mod which will help a lot of things. As for the 12/12 Day/Night cycle... The cycle is actually a real world Day/Night cycle so you will have shorter days in the Winter and longer days in the Summer.

Most of the map pieces I have found have been in abandoned vehicles. Have yet to find all the pieces for the whole map.

You have broken your leg/legs and need a morphine injection. They can be found mostly at Hospitals but seem to be quite rare. Good luck!

Hrmm not sure where I'm being a fanboy and making the excuse it's Alpha. Anyway, I think I'm just being realistic, not being overly impatient and not making posts that are pure reaction with no actual thought involved. But I digress and will no longer derail the thread at hand.

Wow, the the last few posts are just ridiculous. The devs worked their asses off to give us the Alpha and are deserving of the week they're taking off. Still not sure where this month Holiday is coming from that someone is talking about. Sounds like you're just pulling a random length of time out of your ass to get yourself and others worked up. They gave us 3 patches before Christmas with more to come, a week in the relative scheme of things IS a short amount of time. Get over it. Some of you are just coming off as impatient, ungrateful and immature, but to be expected from some. I think you need to sit in timeout for a while and rethink your thoughtless posts.

One must be patient grasshopper, more content and fixes to come after the Devs come back from holidays. ;)

A lot of servers are having to resort to 24/7 day due to hosters having issues with the day/night cycle settings. You should be able to find these servers in the in game server browser because most are labelling their server names accordingly. Good luck!

KOS will be different when the Alpha gets the features it needs. Zeds aren't where their supposed to be as far as numbers and strength and loot tables are out of whack. When they have to make a conscious decision whether or not to waste their last bullet on a Bambi or take that shot and be mobbed by Zeds, I think KOS will be lessened. As of now there is no thought process behind whether to KOS or not, there is no consequence. When there is consequence or having to have an actual thought process, things will change and I can't wait for it to happen. Still early days... Do I think KOS or PvP should be removed... Absolutely not! So let's make that clear.

This is an issue that came about with the last patch afaik. Some say, disabling clouds fixes it others have no luck with doing that, me being one of them. We'll just have to be patient and wait for a fix, in the meantime you could have a look on the Feedback Tracker to see if the issue is there and upvote it.

If I knew, I would elaborate on how they would fix the issue of servers hoppers or combat loggers. I was merely emphasizing to people that are putting the SA in the same basket as the mod, that not only it's structure is different but that it should be easier to deal with whatever comes down the pipe. "Whatever comes down the pipe" means just that, any issues that arise that are a major concern or just the minor bugs... Server hoppers and combat loggers being; what seems to be; the hot issues at the moment. I'm not a programmer but I do know having access to the engine level, pretty much anything is possible unlike the Mod. As someone else has stated, there have been multiple posts suggesting ways to combat these issues, not all of which are timers. What course are the Devs going to take? One could only guess but something has to be in the works or I don't think the Mods would be saying it's going to be taken care of either. I have total faith that these and other issues will be taken care of, we just have to be patient and wait for the Devs to come back from their holidays. Whether it's a timer or whatever, they won't please everyone because you can't. That's just plain and simple. Private hives aren't the cure all for everything, yeah there are some good things about them but there's a lot of bad about them as well. This is coming from a person who ran a private Hive for the mod for quite some time, not the 1000 vehicle, 24/7 day, easy mode flavour either.

Some of you really need to use your grey matter and understand that we're not dealing with the Mod, which to compare the SA to is like night and day. Unlike the Mod they have control down to the Engine level(unlike the mod) and can basically do what they couldn't in the mod by leaps and bounds. The other major difference, server/client architecture which enables the server to control the client and do whatever the server tells it to do. Both these things together will make it possible to combat whatever comes down the pipe, it may take time but more is possible with the SA by far than anything that could be done with the Mod. Honestly, people have to take the Mod out of the equation because it IS NOT the same.

Server hopping and combat logging will be dealt with, just be patient. Private hives aren't the only way to deal with these things. Devs are on holiday and rightfully deserved, assured when they get back shit will get real.
