    and here i came to think beta was being announced!!! most of the Z guys already feel dayz is a moot point, gave up on it. Sadly i dont want to agree with them yet.

    Not yet, hold in as it will be explained and logs become available. If you let cheating run through your mind you will always believe you have cheaters ruining your server. So dont, unless you start to interact with those players start up shadowplay and record the event. Then ban them and report. Otherwise you ban someone incorrectly and you will become the approached.

    Thanks Smoss for that reply. Simple question, about that though. WIll those changes involve the GSP, and the server files? Such as public @ Dayz only? and the rest be private?

    No your not rude, let me explain something. Join + kick = 2 minute wait (safe load) Join + kick 2x = 5 minute wait (possible gear loss or death) Join + kick 3x = 10 minute BS wait and we come to complain about vilayer in this forum. Its very simple, but not all the vilayer servers are recognized by the IP. False? nope had screenshots of these servers and was rejected, because they owned 3-4 servers is my best guess.
  6. There is some pretty misleading rules. Hicks even posted and locked rules not in the rule book. Its very confusing but vilayer doesn't push those rules to much now do they? yet all the rest are trying. In most cases the names are mostly vilayers servers that allow high loot, low loot, you will be kicked, all kinds of rule breaking. We need to stamp out what is correct and what is not. Again the rule book is so vague when it comes to naming. I have seen PVE but its expressed as pvp. No kos, all kinds of different names. If i said PVE to the extent of the law is that correct or incorrect. All it takes is for the network admins on BI to cancel them connecting to the hive, and it will be taken care of by tickets to the GSP, but instead we are forced being kicked, abused, and grieved by these bad admins. Yeah eno, rules are vague is why i posted that message.

    Can I Run DayZ Retail (POST HERE)

    with the desktop high, ultra high when the game is tweaked. Btw that video card is nice isn't it. 329ish, but its rock solid. I recommended that for all the dayz people under hardware thread. You cant go wrong with the i5 or i7 s1151 since its the new gen Intel cpu. Enjoy it. Desktop your only upgrade is the memory go to 16gb you will be happy with that choice. The laptop will struggle more then you will but should do ok. I recommend to beef it up to at least 8gb since most laptops only handle 8gb. Hope that helps.

    OH its so much better with a compass, the sun directions, and i think now they have a moon. At that time we didn't have it. Otherwise izurvive.com there is a couple of places. Like the others suggested for your buddies, or last known spot.

    Creaking noises from doors. Brings the fear, wondering out of you. Random footstep noises, but not actually there. Since we have vehicle object displacement now, why not have things like objects on the table, objects like lamps fall over making a thumping noise. Someone outside might be able to hear that too running by. Rusty car doors, bending as they open up. Can be heard from 5 houses down. Tree's making cracking noises. Sounds play a huge part but so does the visuals.

    Ok, so no children, now how about different sized infected, like short people, tall people? Music can also make the mind wander, especially when you open a dark cellar and walk into it. Which Dayz has none of that. Its open the door to a house, run out open another door to another house. After 1000 hrs you see things differently, then someone with 10 hours of game play.

    Infected, If i shoot my gun off around a group of players, where does the infected run too? The group of players correct? What if the group of players take off in all directions, where does the infected run too? The person who fired off the gun correct? What if the player fired off at a player running by, where does the infected run too? The person who fired off the gun correct? What happened to sound direction, a bang, followed by a whistle sound close by the player. Would the infected not hear that sound, followed by the player running by? Pickup on the sound, then see a player running by and the infected run off to the running player instead thinking the sound is correct.... instead? the infected rush towards the sound, ignoring the running player. Even though the person who fired the gun is hidden inside a house, hidden behind a glass structure and ducked low. My point being, AI logics is not there.

    Being an random encounter, just once in awhile might add in more fear. Not all jumping out like those games you listed, but the random one or just a dead body falling, to the floor to add in more awareness. Alien's the movie defiantly a jump scare. Doesn't happen all the time, but the actors are always aware of the situation around them. We talked about clutter on the ground before, so should the infected be scooping out the guts.

    Its hard to, when confused about the infected logic. Do they go right or left knowing a running player has just wiz'd by or do they go straight to the player. Well the glass thing was added, its broken so you ducked behind the wall, just peering out of the window frame. Hardly seeing your eyes. =D Right now i know of them heading straight towards the gun shots, is this the way it is going to be or did they say AI intelligence will be added to run off towards the player. Since the area of blast can be heard as a BOOM, it would seem the running player was the one who made the sound.

    Adding in infected + Adding in KOS + environment can heighten the fear factor. Should we add in Intelligent infected that climb up walls to the second story, and smash the windows to get to you? I think adding in props such as an infected dead body falling out of a cabinet should be added, or the random dead body in chairs that falls on the ground in front of you. It will scare you a tad. or even a random infected sitting upstairs of the 3rd floor hovering over something. This way your forced to run, or forced to fight. How you do it is up to you. Gun shots could bring more to your central location. Doors closed so one or so many climb the walls to get into the building. The rest ponder whats all this about DUH! Oh and please dont bring in exploding infected, man that's the worst, and i have seen it in a few games. Its like adding in stupid to the word stupid.

    I expected you to say that, that is why i asked. "Your heartbeat rises, your adrenaline rises, blood starts pumping, your temperature goes up a bit, that is horror in my opinion. ;)" is the truth behind it.

    Not saying i will agree or disagree with your statement, but many in the forums do not like KOS or want any aspect of it. You know this without naming names. But the point being KOS gives that fear factor like snakes do for some people... you need it but a handful will shrug it off, ill fight them. Now your last statement, proper atmosphere. What does that mean exactly? The time of day? the weather? Still on topic fear factor = horror... Night time, should be still a good time to add more fear into the player. However it can be over used too much because it annoys you after awhile. You want daylight from time to time.

    Horror of KOS? Horror of logging in, and see someone that might KOS you? all of it sounds like fear of server hopping, fear of logging off and in and finding someone around you. Many would say KOS is not apart of the game, i respectfully say that KOS is a huge part of this game. It needs to be in place, if you want to add more fear.

    I dont see where server hopping becomes horror? Its the worst feature ever added, and it wasn't intended. Also knowing ahead someone can log in, brings fear that i better loot up just in case someone logs in. so then server hopping becomes a way of life in dayz. Intention of the devs or not, it has become a way of life in dayz. Its not scary, it has no purpose, and it doesn't involve anything to do with the concept of the game. So again, if infected are to become the most important part of Dayz, it is not. The most important part of dayz is server hoping and logging off to catch someone that is looting the area you are in. something doesn't seem right.

    Yup sounds like we are in the right central area. I chased up up the zel hill, and of coarse i would never be able to catch it. Back then they had no collision slowdowns.

    Honestly? money will be worth it when we step in the polished game, for the very first time again and play it for 24 hours. I then can say we got our money's worth. Right now the only thing we have been doing is running around looking for limited resources with major non spawning restrictions and no infected. So we cant tell people that anymore, all we can say is its been redone, they will need time to put all the assets back into the render, and fix as many glitches they can internal until they bring it to the table in the next coming weeks. All we can do, is help when beta comes around and submit the bugs to be fixed. There will be lots by then. Or we all wait until the very close to ending and play it on release and never look back at the game we helped create and fix. We own it on steam, we can reinstall it any time we want, and then experience it for the first time again. If you want to help continue to submit bugs, wait until .60 and the bug tracker comes back up. We then can help continue our bug submission reports. I believe they are programming a new submission site and fixing the exploited issues. Otherwise wait until its finished and then come back when its ready for the public. For the private modding people, they have to be keeping an eye on the game at all times because of early release for clans, friends, gaming communities etc.. This way they will be ready for when it comes around. I too am waiting for the modding part of it.
