I am always sceptical, but i keep getting pulled back in.

Why do you do this to me Dayz? WHy!!! - When i think i am at my worst, i want to just drop and run, throw all my gear off and uninstall. then i see this video... Then i question myself all over again, WTF man, do you make me hate and love you so much for? Freaking live wolf packs!!!! I just so love watching some dude getting eating by this. (as fucked up as that sounds) So as soon TM? or as in soon we will start to see beta in a nutshell? lets shit and get off the pot here. What projected time frame could you honestly give us. We don't give a shit about 2 years, 3 years we just want to the best of your abilities the honest answer? 1. if .61 is released in stable branch, after which time do you feel .62, .63 etc... 1.0 will come out much quicker? * i know for the life of me wild animals has not be done like this in a sandbox environment, other then ARK but ARK is not with an AI intelligence engine. For those that play arma 2-3 this is so refreshing to see, if only we could do fishing with much more.... and hunting in the same scale. ******* Oh man you could make a great AI modding package for us, and all we need to do is design our own. ******** you have to release some form of this to the modders. I and so many others will probably pull the bandage off, if you can give us the most honest answers. -

I want people to note the running of the character, how much more realistic it feels to games like arma. Arma is clunky feeling in running, walking, and jumping. Now in this instance 1st person feels right. (this will take me a ton to get used to) but 3rd gives me some love for the environment. We just need the UI to stop de syncing to our characters, some bridge needs to be crossed for it to work fluently. And here i thought the foxes where awesome seeing -
Winter map UI-Controls-movement smooth feeling and not arma clunky and most of all some end game stuff.

Moving from the A2 Mod to Standalone!
sneakydude replied to DigitalMillennial's topic in New Player Discussion
Don't apologize for something that is true, the net is full of information about cash grabbing and dayz. It also is the players that we have feel this way too. -
Probably explains why arma 3 exile bikes are not all that fun to ride either, but they work. It is based off of BI code, so maybe they need to re look at that engine down the road.
-
Yeah you wont be able to save anything there. I think Hicks actually was the one that mentioned it was taken away due to exploiting the far reaches of the map.

1st person perspective only (Message to devs)

That will be for public, i doubt they would care what happens on private hives as it does not talk to the central hives. SQL databases will run on the server independent of the BI central servers, This is experience by Arma. I doubt too much would be different, as that has been already working well. -
WOW, Lucky I found that heatpack, said no one ever

LOL you have to love them snipers. Giving you a few scares here and there is much better then running through cherno totally nekkid. It will get much better :) Oh i ment for snipers that is LMAO -
What server conditions, or settings would make this happen? I have never seen anything that i would know of in the server admin tools we have. Is this with the database that could cause this? Happens or did happen on public servers too prior to .60 but anything too later people just gave up if 2minutes.

Like for instance, it takes a lot of effort to find c4 type weapons, simply an axe could not chop through a re enforced door, or wall. (however it could on a simple wooden wall over 30 minutes time) for example. Finding a ladder however would be much simpler, but would kick you back or could not place if no member(s) online @ the server. This may or may not make sense to offline raiding. Its not always about storing loot, or is it? since people like to build. Putting tons of effort into a small base, making it just perfect. Most pve type players or a mixture of Pve, PVP enjoy this effort and spend the time. Where it becomes a failure is when you have the ability to get into someone's base either by underground glitching, or through the walls. There is also problems related to offline raiding. You spend 1000 of hours building it up, finding all the materials etc... and then someone comes along within 5 minutes destroys the base or glitches in. People quit the game. I do suggest that if any base building system is put in, that the devs do consider testing out the arma 3 exile system with flags. This creates the territory, which can be upgraded by the crafting system if you do not wish AI to control the system. Modding is and will handle some of this eventually, given the tools. So many things to say atm, since i am very heavy into base building and destruction of them at the moment. I do feel exile does rather well given the adjustments server admins can do, making it almost impossible without special loot to destroy someones base. They value things, so that someone purchasing mines or explosives on a lvl 1 flag would not be worth it, to trade in. A lvl 5+ is worth it given the value back to the person. This system is controlled by vendors and pop tabs $$ however dayz could handle this with crafting, and finding special parts around the map to make it very difficult to get anywhere. All i wish for is that the dayz devs do not close off the system so that we can not change certain values or block things, if we wish to change as server scriptwriters, admins etc... if you know what i mean? Other games are controlled some what the same way, just offline base raiding has made sandbox's not fun for many folks. We want it hard, but not too hard and be lost within 5 minutes.
-
No base will be safe, as long as we allow offline base raiding. I know, because 99% of the other games have this issue. This includes arma 3 exile, epoch, rust, ark, etc.. the list will go on. The point of bases is to store items, my first trip around the map will be to base raid, offline or on. I don't need to ever loot up if i can raid your base. This is and so far always why base building is fun but also a total waste of time....

What movies/series/game would describe DayZ for you?
sneakydude replied to exwoll's topic in General Discussion
Why did i find this so funny? maybe because i can never get focused enough to follow it yet. It is always all over the place. I have also moved away from watching anything series wise on normal cable networks. I would rather sit down with the family and watch a whole evening of a series. You know pig out chips, popcorn, pop all the good stuff. You are completely correct bfisher on why you felt this way. -
I find that with arma 3 too, and dayz sometimes the favorites disappear. Is there a cache directory that stores this info?

1st person perspective only (Message to devs)
sneakydude replied to cs_wolf's topic in General Discussion
and many of us are happy to see modding. If 1st person becomes the norm, then modders will focus on that. Changing servers to suit the clients always happens. Nobody wants to see vanilla gone, we want to better it if given the tools. I am happy that BI decided to allow us to keep focusing on it. Did 1st person consider the argument that your not able to see your body in 1st person, but some consider that to be important. As in the past games, seeing gear etc... We are not talking about a 120 FOV zoom, just enough to see the back of the character. -

They start this way out, then turn. Happened 500 times before. We had that right then too. Example: Then ppl use the search engine like everyone else was given 1000 times over in the past. It always turns into a 1st person, 3rd person war of flames. You just haven't seen the others online to add to it yet. That is all. -
Will the new Infected Spawn mechanic add more zombies?
sneakydude replied to kumando's topic in General Discussion
Are you sure they are much different? because last i checked it seemed our servers lag the fook out. I know its early and all but i am not to certain that what we don't see up north isn't impacted down south. Even if we don't feel everything, the server in general still feels it. Which in turn effects the client. Remember we are so close to beta?? remember 4 months away now isnt it? or 5months i cant remember. -

OH great another 1st person to 3rd person review on what players should have and shouldn't have, just with a different account. Let it go already, not everyone wants to play on a 1st person server, or 3rd. As soon as i connect to 1st person server i leave, and go to a 3rd person server because i don't enjoy it. It bothers me. All this topic is, is another one of those hidden 1st person reviews on why every server has to change. Why hasn't this been closed?? like all the others out there that the devs and forum mods never allowed us to talk about. After the 5th page it turns into a flame war. -

This makes sense. However the server side demands what a player in chero is, to whats spawning around them up north impacts theserver & client in cherno. Even if they don't see it. This is where the CPU bubble has to be reduced around the clients in the area feel. If you can reduce the cpu power required around the user so nothing but that 1000m impacts them, we got ourselves something different. Hybrid or not, will be much easier load balance. We only want to issue so much server load to the player and vs versa. Remember i am going from what we know in arma to what we don't know will happen with dayz. How much of that will be explored at the time of dayz release and how much we "will beg the devs" to fix the load balance. Headless clients anyone? also dayz needs to allow us to use headless clients, to add more if required. That would be a start from what we didn't learn in the beginning of arma. -
The only thing i ask of dayz, is the ability to port assets from other areas of BI like arma 2 - 3 and scripting if possible. We also need dayz to give us lots of fps, so we can build from there. Not 25fps....
-
Dayz was built on cherno, what we where discussing is modding on ideas. Those are usually done on private servers paid and maintained by modders and scripters. We also will mod on our own systems for testing and installs. Don't confuse what modders do to what original dayz is, dayz will stay days SA by itself. Many of us are from arma community, and mod or script our own servers. It is a game in itself. So no, dayz SA public or some private servers will continue to run dayz on cherno as long as the public wants it. If demands change, that is something we can not control 5-6 years later. All the assets brad has posted for us, are exactly that assets we can pull from and use in a different situation. Modding is very healthy to continue dayz and grow. Remember how dayz was first created? it was by the modding community and cherno was from the modding community. Dean developed this and made something special. The rest of us, play with it, and make something different. Who knows, what will come out of dayz 5 years from now. Arma 3 has Exile now, very very popular. People put zombies in it too. Don't get discouraged one bit, dayz sa will be there.

I think your right, seems rather difficult to do. I will recreate something soon. Lots of information like you said.

Basically taking cherno without buildings. a complete wilderness map. I just want it to be Tanoa instead. The tools wont allow me to do any of the sort, in arma tools, and i am afraid it will happen with Dayz tools too.
