Now go make dayz great again!! Good to see you guys back to the forums more. Now you can ban me more often :) jking

Forum looks nice.

Emu you don't feel that is normal? Take 40 shotgun shells out to your car, put it to a door and see if you can enter it at 39 :) I am sure there is nothing left of the door, but you still should be able to enter it.

Arma 3 has autorun feature for devs to develop from. I remember using it in exile mod. Not sure if arma did this or the mods. Was rather nice to have going over hills etc.

Can I be banned for playing on DayZ modified servers?
sneakydude replied to BillyNight's topic in General Discussion
You could if they modify any client files. We have server agreements, to follow. The devs are very aware of this server. Asking these questions in normal forums is not a good thing, best to ask a mod, or dev about that. -
2 Hours into the game.. I HAVE SOME QUESTIONS
sneakydude replied to Aj Edwards's topic in General Discussion
Oh character controller you mean? But you could be correct on hold. Maybe the base building is on hold too? Until cars are fixed and controller is put in. -
2 Hours into the game.. I HAVE SOME QUESTIONS
sneakydude replied to Aj Edwards's topic in General Discussion
I believe placement is working as Intended, but i could be wrong as usual. I remember they said it was being worked on, but now i see it only placed on flat ground. So maybe it is finalized for beta? i don't know honestly anymore. -
Nice write up Baty, and I understood that dayz was not getting any new assets until beta? In the above report we see a new weapon? Would bugs being fixed before new additions be a better goal? and Hemtek, from what i understood from Brian Hicks we would not be adding in any new assets until beta. Unless some are already created and not introduced. A roadmap would be nice, since character controllers and all the major bugs be fixed prior to additional assets.

[0.62] Early Preview Broadleaf + Grass Shader
sneakydude replied to Weyland Yutani (DayZ)'s topic in General Discussion
All i care about, is that both players can hide and be seen hidden in the grass. Otherwise we look like a rock laying down at 400m in the woods currently. Currently we can wave to someone and they are seen a 1km away, its so flat. Then up the basic requirements past normal so they can not reduce graphics. Too many exploits now, as a target. -
any startup options remove....

Devs: Should suggestions be made in the forum or via Feedback Tracker?
sneakydude replied to exwoll's topic in General Discussion
Your really only suggesting to the public, maybe modders... Give it a wirl. -
No you really need to look over your tower, internet and everything in between. Yes some have issues but it usually is related to older hardware, poor internet, maybe check even your gateway connections to the servers you connect to. High winds, lots of storms in the last few weeks. I find it very smooth, not everything is perfect yet. Arma 3 uses CPU power.... big difference now.

I don't believe the vehicles should have hit stable at all, since they really aren't stable. Maybe it is just lack of gas? hehe

Yeah, i was splitting your post in half there with performance, a whole new area. Do you think we would have this conversation if everyone stored stuff in the ground, barrels, bases, tents etc.. if it had 0 impact on you as the client or server? Stashes have been known to be forgotten 10-20 years later, in a sealed tight barrel. Keeping the elements out of it. <-- as seen on the TV show Mountain Men. We know hikers find stashes, safe havens all over the place, but we do not have 500 of them in one mile sq either. People are afraid to lose objects, such as what we collect in game. So yes i do agree a time frame should be added like 30 days if you don't touch it, it decays away. Otherwise if the system allowed lets say 5 stash points per person, and no decay, and had no client, or server issues and lasted 1-2 months afterwards. i don't believe we would be having this conversation, as it would be fun to search down these stashes. Not one of us would care then. But since the current system is buggy, and you know where the stash is 400m around a tented area your client feels the "Bubble" It is not an exploit, but it is an issue if someone doesn't see the tent, but feels it by lag? Get my drift. Bug? no, coding changes? yes possible. Either way decay for me is fine given a longer then 8 days time frame. If we have server options to allow this to be modded, changed and configured? i am happy with that per server rules.

See that is what i am getting at the system suffers but it doesn't have to. We are rendering/reading each object within 100's of feet away, why do we have to at all until you open the lid, or flap as a container, then it reads everything to the client. Would this help performance? Otherwise i see your point bud, it is true if nobody opens and moves something to re save the items.

I am wondering if these will be 1-2 months? or longer. 8 days seems rather small for something that is completely a permanent object in real life. I do agree base building can get out of control, as seen in the lasted Conan PVE official servers. But storage objects should not be a problem, because we will find them and strip them of their stuff. So i would feel that a 30 day time frame or more should be acceptable, on Persistence servers. Maybe we will get some modding tools soon enough?? and maybe introductions to modding server options so we can put in our inputs. Hopefully these questions will be answered for us soon enough.

Good to know thanks guys.

Collision fix I had 0 weapons once, and had to a stone knife. It worked for awhile but they kept hitting me. So while they where in front of my character i started to walk backwards and cut off a stick to the nearby tree or ground not sure what one worked first. I was more worried of being hit too many times. After i gotten my stick i started to just walk backwards with me, poking the stick at the wolves. 8 of them spawned around me, which was brutal. I went grey, and had time to b line to the first door i saw open. If it wasnt for the house being that close i was dead. So now if i run into issues like this i turn to a stick, and walk backwards where and when i can to kill a few at a time. This is only because i dumped all my mil gear, 1 backpack and a stone knife to run and gather more gear at my other camp site. Otherwise i was toasted if i kept running with the wolves to my back... especially a pack of 8, not 6 or 4 it was 8.

Why are the infected pushing players anyways for? Is it a cut in the code to add in something different then before, or is it to deal with the collision code? Just don't remember the infected touching the vehicles before.

Lots of tester support here.... guess everyone went to stable?

I completely agree you guys need at least 2 official servers there and others that can setup boxes. Pings above 200 are not a good thing for any of the servers. Reducing them to 100ish and below seems to allow the servers to keep up, but when you have that 400+ ping it starts to go to hell the server, not counting the clients close to you in range. Our gateways in the north are stronger i think then yours to the US. Not completely sure of how your isp are setup.

I just use computer cable tie, the plastic ones and they hold under the keyboard.

Cool another 3rd person thread.... just so much fun reading all these.
