Well if you get bored after 2000 hrs game play of searching sheds and someone comes out with a version on their own server that completely redoes the game to their liking and others appear to like it and change what does it matter? not everyone is going to keep playing the same thing over and over for 5 yrs. This is how dayz was created from a war game... do we say that dayz was a failure? BI has made it very clear, they want to continue down this path. You knew this before 2012, arma had modding abilities.

Base building in hived servers after 0.63 release
sneakydude replied to OscarBlindeye's topic in General Discussion
We will have glitches into bases. They will wiggle, force a glitch and sneak into a base. It will happen, until patched. Exactly like Arma 3 Exile where it pushes you out of the building and pops up a warning unable to enter... then posts a screen shot, and a info package to the devs to investigate and ban you from the server. Wouldn't life be so easy if we had this? -
Base building in hived servers after 0.63 release
sneakydude replied to OscarBlindeye's topic in General Discussion
You Pilgrim are not completely incorrect. We do have 150 different games that use the same concept of base building. We can clearly see they, the devs follow a simple guideline. This is all mechanics and coding, balance etc... to make something completely different then other base building games. I would sorta clarify some of our intentions are based off of real life damage systems. What if i threw a frag at that wall, would it simply fall? would it explode etc... Which can be adjusted with coding, graphic animations and hit box control. Yet we see the basic animations, simply disappear or fall as a complete object. Nobody for years really has changed that. As far as the way, the devs code or make base building features for us? i hope it is as real as it can get. To lock a base down by access code, you can not break it, well Meh boring. That is just me though. -
Base building in hived servers after 0.63 release
sneakydude replied to OscarBlindeye's topic in General Discussion
Its very hard to comment on anything in Dayz SA vanilla or modding. Right now hit point models are not adjusted, setup to be destroyed etc.. So tents or walls etc.. haven't been really tweaked. Also the introduction of certain items are not working as intended. You want to be able to lay down traps, protect yourself from wildlife, and characters. If you know they have the ability to break into your base, you come back and lay down traps. If the traps themselves disappear after restart, and take 5 hrs to build then traps will be useless in SA vanilla. We have so many different players here wanting different things, so it is hard to judge what each persons goals are. We have some hunters, we have some PVPers and PVEers that just love to do there own things, and when you put everyone into one game voila a completely awesome experience. This is why i still love dayz sa today, Vanilla or not. But a full proof system has to be made, or we will end up like between Conan Exiles, Ark all the way to Arma 3 Exile.. and somewhere Dayz SA will be lumped into it. I would love to see the real deal with bases here. Then we can have a way better conversation and not just random ideas. I am not putting any idea down, i enjoy reading all of them, just wish we had a concrete structure to go by first. Not having a bunch of images of what a base will look like. All good and dandy, but not having exactly how the base structures will be protected, or a system to avoid having 1000 bases all lined up and a small building blocks all lined up to stop you from building more structures. You see the need to be able to destroy a griefer? -
Base building in hived servers after 0.63 release
sneakydude replied to OscarBlindeye's topic in General Discussion
Very random points, and very hard to follow. I don't want arma 3 exile ideas completely delivered to dayz sa. Where did you get that from? I am just saying if you are able to find an explosive to break into a base then why not. If handcrafting of items, and i mean hard crafted can create an explosive to break down a gate no reason to not allow that type of game play. This is all on a custom server. It doesn't ruin dayz SA. I do agree not having 1000 explosives crafted like conan exiles and ark are needed in dayz sa., I completely agree with that. But like is said modders will do what they can to make their servers excel the game. Which dayz sa was first incited from. Otherwise plz Have a normal topic discussion or don't bother at all. Explain yourself better please because i probably missed half of your suggestions. -
Anyone left who likes jogging instead of sprinting?
sneakydude replied to Jock McScottish's topic in General Discussion
I like the idea of slowing it down, not only for technical reasons w/desync but also makes it more a hunter - stealthy player and let those in town run around hip firing players. I dont expect that vanilla will have many hip firing auto rifles out in the open firing off shots because their stamina will run out eventually. This gives them away to snipers, etc.. Current system is so desync'y it allows for the player to warp around like a fish in a bowl without being hit. Now in this video? i have seen it multi times. Explain how the video, viewer was able to FOV zoom all the way in like that? because to me its an exploit or is it? I never used it if it was a feature in dayz sa. Just asking now because many other videos show this type of zooming in from that distance. 5.31ish -
Base building in hived servers after 0.63 release
sneakydude replied to OscarBlindeye's topic in General Discussion
Someone sounds upset this morning. You do realize not every mod works perfectly? the point being exile made good use of base building over many other games. You can restrict the content assets like dayz sa to make it work the same way. If you lock a base up tight, it still can be broken into but rare since explosives will be hard to make, or will they? since we may have a crafting system. Exile also made perfect use of restricting bases from being built 500 m or more per territory. That system alone worked good for the ARK, Conan exiles over building of bases close by. The system allowed for flags to be captured. It was just one system, but doesn't mean we can not mod in a system to break into bases, but restrict the users on the system they deliver. That's the point i am trying to make here. Vanilla will be vanilla, and mods will be the rest of the game. So like i said no use rehashing what the devs say, its moot when modding comes out. It clearly only directs people to the vanilla dayz sa. -
Base building in hived servers after 0.63 release
sneakydude replied to OscarBlindeye's topic in General Discussion
Arma 3 exile, has laid out the ground work for protecting bases. Not 100% full proof as you can get in by cracking the locks, blowing holes in the side. Enough said guys. NO reason to rehash it. <--- call me a dude all you want :) -
Base building in hived servers after 0.63 release
sneakydude replied to OscarBlindeye's topic in General Discussion
Maybe locking the servers to 1 character per server. if official should be suggested. Still think base building will be a problem for awhile until the devs listen to our Past Arma experiences with base building. We should not have to bring in other games, with base building issues. -
[Dev] Eye zoom 'probably' being removed entirely
sneakydude replied to -Gews-'s topic in General Discussion
Any changes to the game, that might be important to the vanilla version of dayz should be restricted. However custom servers should be allowed to unlock any engine features, coding they want for custom versions of dayz. Maps, character controls, etc.. and bust this stamina and zoom feature if they so desire. We will see, not much is mentioned. but most of all leave vanilla alone. -
Additional feedback regarding zoom feature
sneakydude replied to czarnyborsuk's topic in General Discussion
Because your great at explaining this to people. What exactly zoom are we talking about? the right click view out distances? or the scopes on weapons and the way it zooms in and out? -
Base building? any word? I can see it now, Server elite:stamina 2x (gathering 1x) LMAO

[Dev] Eye zoom 'probably' being removed entirely
sneakydude replied to -Gews-'s topic in General Discussion
See it when it is done, done being the key word... -
Missed the point? Who knows... what the devs have in storage for numbers. basically who cares LMAO

OH and miscreated made me sick in 1st person and 3rd person, the cameras head bobbed while no options to reduce the game features. I got dizzy right away, in even 3rd person. That is the kind of thing i don't want from dayz even if it is tweaked in 3rd.

I hope, or expect that the feel of the toon is mostly realistic running and not so complex you have to hit wasd 5 times to just run normal. We as testers, alpha players have seen enough of the constant glitching. It is really time to have a change. It might actually work out that everyone starts to return when you can actually enjoy what your doing with the game. I don't want it to feel like we need a flight sim joystick in our hands just to get off the ground in dayz. Then i figure, what was the whole purpose of making the engine? lol
-
That's alpha, once beta goes like they may reset the counter and call it 1.63 who knows... hehe
-
True it happens when someone comes up with a cool and popular idea like "Battle Royal", we have more loot, different loot, different maps. There is nothing you can do to prevent the popular other then forcing the community to endure a sealed Dayz vanilla. We have already played the game, this is why i say "Who cares" now because most of us older players have close to 1500 hrs or more played. We.......ssss a bored. We need fixings... Your not wrong, just vanilla controlled thinking. Not everyone will come back, so we have modding and other cool ideas. Only so many sheds one can search for odds and ends.
-
Hmm i totally forgotten about the price increase once it hits beta. Has anything changed i wonder?
-
This is also true, hopefully we have a very rock solid modding community, and leave Vanilla alone.. 1p and 3p servers fresh from any modding.
-
Yup i completely understand, back in the .40 patches it would explode then die off...seems to be that way when major things cause problems in the game. OH F*K this game, ill wait until it is completed. At times we have huge explosions then mini breaks then huge breaks. Very frustrating if you wish to interact or pvp, or just build a community.
-
The thing that people are not seeing is games like PUbg have used the dayz tourney streams we had years ago (and battleroyale theme) apparent 2000 film. It was a blast seeing these team events unfold... survival of the best... https://survivor-gamez.com/events/survivor-gamez-i OCt 2012 FYI wonder if H1Z1, and Pubg got these concepts from this idea.

Normally i do agree 110% with Emuthreat, as he is a long time tester, and player of the game. He enjoys long walks, and even cooks for you :) He loves dayz as I do, and more so. But Emuthreat has not said everything, as he would assume you to know already. He has rehashed the same things over and over, like so many of us, until he no longer feels a need to say it anymore. One of the things he did not say, is Dayz is a standalone product, that is unique to the arma 3, 2 experiences of controller, feel and design. It is getting much better then Arma 3 character feel. Dayz may be the new flagship engine we wanted for 2018 onward. It may make arma series grow. Modding and that has been a huge thing in BI existence, so we have high hopes dayz will still be the front runner it should be. From the understanding i am getting from your posts, it is a whine about sitting alone for long periods of time looking to snipe a player, for pvp action. I completely understand, as i heard most of the stable unofficial servers are dead. Did you clearly know we have special servers setup for pvp actions? Each Saturday night there is a group hosting a server for us all, HIHB, with different events and lots of hardcore friends that PVP. We fight in a small group, clan or solo events. We do have other servers, but in official it is do or die, or wait until the next big wave of players comes in. .63 is not going to be perfect, ill bet on that. It will be the stepping stone to the next phase before it becomes the solid beta we want and all the features we want. Your frustration is that of little to nothing to do in the game, and the constant boredom of sitting there hoping to do more. Pop up new games, find something new to do and wait like the majority of us here. (We, i repeat we all have had this moment) Most of the older members here know i am taking a long break until it is more complete, HIHB has not seen me in a long time due to many things this summer. I suggest you do it as well and just play inside the patches. This is all i can suggest so your not frustrated. The devs get frustrated too, so does the mods. We have seen it so many times.
-
Dayz is what you make of it, you can Role Play it any way you see fit. Just because someone says this isn't the way you play it, don't listen. When there is more base building, aka features to the game people own it already and will return on "New Reviews" nothing can be done until the full features are added. The devs just need time to finish the full engine, and sub engines so they can focus on improving it.

.308 Winchester ammo, where did it go?
