  1. the pathing is bad yes, the spotting is fine. if you sprint within ~20m of one you will aggro him and consequently all others around, at which point you will have to run away or shoot.
  2. Can anyone confirm or deny whether wearing a helmet and plate carrier serves a purpose nowadays? I am thinking it's not worth becoming a slug for - 14kg combined is quite much.

    Is armor worth it nowadays?

    Found another video

    Is armor worth it nowadays?

Found this video, apparently it's pretty damn tanky. After 3 AKM hits to the chest his health was only in the red.

    Cooking meat on a stick

Not really, I've been cooking chicken nonstop this patch. If I have a knife, no chicken gets left behind. You realize you need a long stick right? Not sure about fireplaces, been making my own.

    DayZ and its future

Here I hoped to get a 1.0 that has all the old content + player controller + new stuff this year. No problem, I wait till next year.
  7. How will temperature, moisture and disease discourage KOSing again? edit: doublepost, cant add a quote to previous post. :/
  8. Unimaginative rant the kind a simpleton would do "it can be so much more rewarding to make an effort to interact with each other" yeah, right. I love meaningless smalltalk with random people and sharing apples.

    Soft Skills

Soft skills were introduced as silent mechanics that ever so slightly reward you for doing something repetatively and that is exactly what they are doing. Just like IRL you slowly get better at stuff, develop somewhat of a skill. Its still a soft skill, the game is no RPG. But sure, the reward could be tweaked and slightly bigger. From the sound of it, mending would be useful, if it means I can mend my torn clothes quicker and more reliably (to a better or even to pristine quality). However: ITS NOT SUPPOSED TO ANYWAY.
  10. Right! Dispersion ist most noticeable on range and most prominent on pistols and smgs, which are not meant for ranged combat anyway. Which is also why I think dispersion might as well stay. They implement it not for authenticity but rather to balance the weapons and their effective ranges between each other. You need a gun like the AK which can oneshot to not outclass a sniper rifle, which with 0 dispersion and hitscan, it would. I think combat in Dayz only ever needed adjustments based on movement : reduction in ADS sway when walking, reduction in sway after sprinting, way faster rising of the weapon and so on. These have been implemented as far as I understand, which is fantastic. So basically, dont touch dispersion.
  11. It is obvious that the devs are putting gameplay over weapon authenticity with this one, which kind of nullifies most of your arguments. Not to say that I think it is a great decision. They will probably readd it.

    Melee System needs balance/tweaking

Melee needs the old hit sounds back. Listen to this, so satisfying when the axe hits the flesh.
  13. I hope they can add a little foam to the edges of water one day.
  14. Why? Because players recieve dynamic lighting (or rather, sunlight), while the environment doesn't. Only certain objects recieve sunlight, most notably: players, tents and certain buildings or parts of buildings. That makes these objects and players stick out greatly, making whatever camoflague you are wearing entirely pointless, particularly when traversing in darker terrain like forests. I also think it is quite a bit of an immersion killer. This issue becomes mroe apparent the stronger the sunlight is. A solution would be to greatly tone down the sunlight reflection on player models and certain objects. Another solution would be to introduce new lighting. Ultimately I noticed the same issue still being apparent in the current 0.63 stream, so I wanted to bring it up again. Hopefully it can get addressed one way or the other. Any thoughts? Here is a good screenshot to highlight the issue I am talking about:

5 months till the new update? Realy?

    1. We are all adults here right? (yes) 2. Should we tell other adults what to do and how to behave? (no)
  16. I share your opinion on the visuals. It looked very plastic. So much fog, bloom and it was very saturated. I dont think it looked very realistic. As for the rest, just wait for now.
  17. This affects you as a 1pp player too. Imagine these shiny players 50-100m further from your camera. They would stick out like beacons amongst the dark, unlit forest.
  18. I know its from the old renderer, but the issue still persists. The way lighting works didn't change, they merely added rendering occlusion and some post processing stuff and changed saturation values. Why do you ask? Just wondering.. because it isn't any different now.
  19. The issue is people want to get immersed and complain about people who could care less about immersion, but in order to remove any gamma advantage, you would have to do something like Rust did which is completely pitch black landscapes and to me that isnt really immersive at all either.

    Basebuilding

If people can just plunder and demolish everything you built (edit: with ease, as in just walk in) when you are offline, what is the point of camps such as this? If there are actually layers of security against offline raiding, how will you be able to overcome them? By gathering explosives such as grenades and blowing into them? Also, don't public hives render camps entirely useless anyway (assuming they have some sort of security to begin with), assuming the login mechanism will remain as it is? I really wonder how this whole thing is gonna get handled, does anyone have any more insights? Personally, just gonna use basebuilding to fortify a watchtower on the airfield or something and resort to hidden stashes and barrels for loot storage.

    Basebuilding

They could randomize building interiors :P sort of. They would just have to create like a dozen different layouts and create a different asset for each, then let rng choose the version upon placing the asset (the house).

    Basebuilding

playing private hives solves both the cheating and hopping issue, so im not overly concerned. interested in what the solution for that will be tho.
  23. Buakaw

    Basebuilding

We were already aware of that. The point of the discussion is, will you be able to walk into anyones camp or will there be some kind of layers of security? Its not the easiest thing to handle with realism and "hardcore" survival in mind. Because realistically, nothing would stop me from hopping over those fences or use a beamcutter. Same! Especially as I personally fail to see a solution that would be rewarding and interesting for raiders and basebuilders alike and still be somewhat realistic.
  24. Buakaw

    Basebuilding

I see no issue with offline raiding at all. I dont think bases should be untouchable in this game to be honest. But what will the dynamic be I wonder? Will bases be accessible by anyone and have to be guarded at all times? Or will they introduce a new ressource like explosives for raiding? How will access to bases be handled? With keys or something?

    Status Report - 16 May 2017

Well if people wouldnt use them then there is your answer, noone wants to use radios as more immersive alternative to global. I think its a cool idea tho. But you are not gonna find out if you don't try. Noones gonna go out of their way to search for batteries (thats what u need atm right?) when there is an extremely low chance to get anything out of it. So this approach is rather hopeless in my opinion. An idea like this should be discussed with staff and then given greenlights to see a community response, but this? THis is just kinda half-assed amateur stuff. Its not gonna happen.
