Major changes to gunplay are necessary. De-console-ify the game for PC, NOW!
Buakaw replied to Buakaw's topic in Suggestions
Try aiming on controller with legacy recoil if you find controller aiming too hard. Bingo. I suppose because it's easier to develop, but factually, it would be better for everyone if the versions were kept seperate in regards to gunplay. I totally understand why they would lower recoil drastically and instead have the guns fire off in random directions. But for MnK it makes little sense and should be the other way around -

I think the current weight system is fine, any more and you would just overcomplicate it. It simply needs to be like Arma 2 / Mod DayZ and have inertia. -
Would say: reduce overall sway because it's quite much when you are standing still, but make it so you still have sway when holding breath

why would anyone with a sane mind prefer the current weapon handling that has so much RNG? streamlining the mechanics more like they used to be in Legacy with some adjustments is both far more realistic and more rewarding and fun gameplay wise. it goes to show once again: gamers arent what they used to be anymore. they'll just eat up whatever devs feed them -
Another video showcasing the speed at which you can handle a weapon. why the hell would you want inertia? its neither realistic nor does it feel good. Its nothing but a poor bandaid fix to a problem that isn't actually a problem whatsoever

havent played vanilla in ages, but last I remember heli loots were irredeemably bad. like, total waste of time bad.
-
havent found any yet...

https://help.steampowered.com/en/faqs/view/46DB-4CEC-F7E9-49E5 I find it hard to believe that they randomly ban for no reason, but if you think it was a mistake, make an appeal.

I did and fundamentally disagree with you. I left you a detailed response, feel free to reply and also give me one if you care to do so. -
First of, gunplay. Inertia is not realistic, but a poor gameplay mechanic to prevent flickshots and artifically slow the game down. It can add a nice touch if implemented in a very subtle way, but it was definitely too strong in legacy. Combined with how the movement has always been entirely inertia-free, weapon inertia cannot and should never come back until that is changed. As for how "realistic" it actually is, see: There is practically no inertia when handling a gun. It is just a 3-5 kilogram ergonomic stick in your hands. You could very well "flickshot" IRL if you choose to do so. The feeling of weight should be in the way the gun recoils and sounds. Currently I think some guns sound slightly hollow (example the AKM is a definite downgrade from legacy) and handle way too easily in most cases for Assault rifles. There is also artifical crap like bullets not going where the gun is pointing, which makes shooting feel less realistic and rewarding. Next, movement. I fail to see how fluid movement leaves the game in a handicapped state or take away from a hardcore experience. And particularly, how it is allegedly at the cost of realism. Humans are agile and very quick, especially if our life depends on it. You have also listed no reasons or arguments for 1)-4). Care to explain?

I said: bring back the old system. You couldn't block with the old system. Hence, old system + block >>>>> whatever we currently have. also, again: why cant I sprint while swinging my knife? but I can jog while eating my beans. makes sense
-
here is an improvement: remove the new system entirely and bring back the old system. add blocking. finito. melee was literally more fun and more skillful in old versions. locked animations anything will never be fun gameplay. why cant I sprint while swinging my knife? but I can jog while eating my beans. makes sense.. NOT

Can I have some support and upboats please -
its as bit unbalanced right now. I dont think a single mosi/win bullet should knock out plate carrier instanly. It means certain death anyway in almost any scenario you can think of except when you are running with 3 more guys who can cover you while unconscious. Same with 556 vs plate carrier. 2 bullets should not knock you unconscious at 300 meters. So either the plate carrier and press vest should receive more shock absorption or the bullets should receive lower shock damage. Given how "arcade-y" gunplay is right now, that is, how easy it is to control assault rifles and spray and tap them at range, it just seems a bit out of tune. You are giving up a massive 12kg worth of stamina to have better protection against bullets too, so it makes even less sense.
-
I definitely would prefer that over instantly going uncon just to be finished by a follow up shot in 99% of cases. You could pull a smoke and try to avoid getting hit again. Maybe a "stumble" that forces you to prone and you drop your weapon, but you can get back up after that and pick it up. What do you think?
-
craftable oil filter would be lit
-
people will just finish you off with a second bullet whether you instantly go uncon or become immobile with some wierd new mechanic. whats the point? thats exactly what I dont like about the current shock damage.
-
@Officer Failure we already have the limping mechanic from low health, isnt that sufficient?
-
that's odd indeed, what other bad decisions have you made?
-
dayz wasnt made for console 😂
-
3 shots of an m4 leave you with blinking health, severely limping and barely being able to move. and 4 shots just straight up kill you up to 120 meters. I think the low health limping after 3 rounds is severe enough, but because you get knocked out so easily by 2 shots and most people just finish the job right there, the protection might as well be 2 shots. thats why I think plates need higher shock absorption for sure.

good list, many of these seem obvious additions fixes, some are rather subjective

hipfire can and should be effective at a certain range. however if you currently hipfire it is not true rng. bullets "draw lines" around the crosshair. see this video for comparison (credit to Gews): Sometimes you can get extremely lucky and hit a lot of bullets even on a decently high range, other times like 10 bullets land to the bottom left of your target and you die, whereas you would probably have hit them at least once or twice with aimcone. Thats why aimcone is superior imo. It is both more rng and more reliable at the same time.
-
It was that way before 1.00 and it is that way in Arma 2 and 3. With the current system hipfire is less realistic and feels stupid to use.
-
Different ads speed for weapon types/weight is defo a good idea. I was never a fan of the old aim inertia tho, it felt really clunky and more frustrating than anything else, given how the player you are trying to kill is not affected by any inertia at all while doing his little zig zag dodge dance. not sure but you probably shouldnt be able to aim and focus in as fast when on low stamina for example.
