Sorry for taking so long to get back to this, I've read all of your guys comments. Thanks orlok for your input on the situation, I agree with what you are saying. But wouldn't it be a lot better to have those 15-20k players that we had before? Sure, some of us are burned out from it because of its lacking content now, but the main cause of the players being 1/5 that it used to be in my own opinion, is the amount of big twitch streamers being so frustrated, like the rest of us are about desync primarily. Don't underestimate the influence twitch streamers have on the popularity of this game, they have always been the biggest marketing "also free" for dayz, and when their own marketing team if you want to call it gets pissed off and stops playing, you see the results with your own eyes, the games playerbase says enough too. Now I mentioned desync being the primary reason for twitch streamers leaving the game, I'll explain why. Dayz is a game where it can take you HOURS of your actual day to get what you want, maybe you have a certain look you want to complete, a certain weapon too, maybe a vehicle "Lol goodluck with getting that mate, I'll stop in to see how lucky you have been next week", so clearly it takes a lot of time to get items you want, and that's okay "besides the stupid rarity of vehicles and parts" however lets look at the reasons one loses said items, legitimate death? such as accidentally killing yourself from falling and such, or being killed by another player because they were in that situation more skillful and accurate than you and luck was not on your side, you get the picture. Or illegitimate death such as you putting 30 rounds into a player as you used skill to catch him on his flank, to then be shot and killed because the character you were shooting at was a complete illusion created by desync from a location that illusion was previously at 2-4 seconds ago. That and stairs killing you, and lets not forget the high chance of being knocked out by a player with a melee weapon or fists even though you are armed to the teeth because desync will allow the player to strike you without you even seeing them in your local vicinity. Yes, dayz is a game you can put a lot of hours into and lose everything in a second, not for legitimate reasons but reasons that are so frustrating words cannot describe. So the reason players are ditching this currently sorry excuse of a game is because it's just not worth it anymore, it's not worth the time investment to be taken away by desync, or a hacker. So why in the world hasn't desync been tackled by now? Like I said earlier, 20k players is better than 4. At what stage do they actually do something? It's already been left too long and has clearly caused serious damage to the player base. To be clear, dayz is an amazing game, crippled severely by DESYNC, if desync is under control and barely noticeable during the end of this year, dayz will gain popularity again, I guarantee it. Patience is more easily forthcoming when certain basic necessities are met in game. The renderer and everything else can wait until its made to perfection once desync is removed from the game like the cancer it is.

Stop trying to take a moral high ground because your opinion of sticking your head into shit and enjoying it differs than the rest. I do agree with what you said about fallout 4 though, true words. Btw they actually are supposed to be providing a fun game, that's what "stable" is about :P

I understand that this topic has been brought up before, but times change. It's at such a dire state now that it's worth venting our frustrations and thoughts about why the game has lost so much of its player base without offending anyone. Maybe the developers will see a reoccurring theme and catch on to why its players are leaving, "desync, zombies hint hint" oh and a new renderer so the game doesn't run like a potato would be nice. Priorities man, priorities.

Fallout 4 was released november 12th, even in october, september and august the player count is seriously low, gta was released in early april, to say other games are the cause of this game losing popularity is a bit far fetched don't ya think? I've clocked in over 1500hrs in dayz now and honestly, besides a few new items, nothing worth mentioning has changed. Desync up the arse "biggest issue", no new renderer, no zombies, one vehicle that you will never use, and everything worth mentioning isn't even releasing this year, with the current amount of delays you might as well multiply the expected release dates of patches by 3. But maybe we will get a desync riddled heap of shit with a few new vehicles to play with over christmas. Only a miracle can bring back the players and morale of this game in my opinion, maybe your opinion differs but that's my input into the current situation and near future.

Questions I'm about to ask are about combat primarily, I'll try keep it clean so it's easy to answer. 1. This question is about automatic weapons and their difficulty to land shots while firing in an automatic state, I'll compare arma 3 to dayz as it is BI's flagship game. In arma 3 the difficulty to land shots while firing in a fully automatic state is far, far too easy, yet in dayz it does a much better job of replicating realistic amounts of shots landing on target due to the high recoil, however the big issue is the recoil tends to only have an upward pattern on a vertical line, easily exploitable with downward mouse movement to compensate the recoil. What I'm proposing you guys should consider, is equal attention to randomness on the horizontal spectrum per shot, obviously the recoil should be stronger vertically going upwards, but firearms also can recoil downward and side to side per shot fired, it's also affected by the control in which the shooter pulls down and tries to compensate for the recoil giving circular patterns while firing in an automatic state, not the patterns you currently see in dayz, so in short, are you guys happy with the current shooting mechanics in dayz? Or do you plan to make it more close to the real thing. And for the love of god, do not make it more simple. 2. Will plate armor actually work? Currently the body armor in dayz does very little in the way of stopping rounds from making contact with flesh, instead they absorb laughable amounts of damage for a single round. Do you plan on making the body armor work correctly? 3. Will the damage system be more, survival orientated and realistic, bullets to the limbs should never result in instantaneous death. However being shot in limbs should result in the possibility of infection, not being an instant cause of death but ultimately fatal if not treated. Or are you happy with the arcade system of being able to kill people by shooting them in limbs as if they are extensions of the central nervous system. I think you should lean away from the current arcade system and create hitboxes for the brain and spinal cord, when either are damaged instantaneous death should occur, where as bullets to the torso depending on where the round hit, should cause loss of consciousness and the cause of death being loss of blood, like in the real world. It would create far more interesting combat, it would be prolonged due to the bodies natural endurance of being damaged by non fatal wounds. And would create more interesting close quarter fights as you would have to aim for the persons head or torso to put them down, instead of shooting them into the legs and arms and being rewarded with a cheap kill. Just food for thought as I know you are as hardcore as anyone when it comes to things like this :) 4. Is there any plans to add back tracer rounds? What I find interesting, is the current way of loading ammunition would allow you to load, lets say 5 rounds of tracer ammunition, and the rest with standard ball ammo, so when you are wasting out of bullets the last few shots would be tracer rounds. 5. Will bullets be capable of penetrating people? Currently they get stopped in the person and do not continue their flight path. This would be definitely interesting with question 4, seeing a tracer enter/exit and ricochet off the ground and fly into the air, "I've seen this before with arma 2 and it was quite the sight". Also it would allow bullets to pass through the arms and hands of a person being shot, to give an example of this in action, where a person is holding a firearm his/her arms are blocking a portion of that persons torso if he/she were to be shot, currently the bullet only damages that persons arm, where as it should damage the arm, exit and enter the persons torso doing further damage. 6. Will arrows/bolts stick out of characters and be retrievable? Currently they only stick out of objects such as buildings, trees, and the ground. PS, I love you for mentioning your passion about first person view only servers, no homo <3
