Sure you can loot farm military areas, but you might run into players who are farming players who are farming military areas.

a little over a year or so ago, they scraped the old engine and all that had been done before. They added the new engine and started on dayz standalone all over from a new start. No mater what they call it , that is my take on what we have with the game today. So to me the new game has only been in development for just over a year or so.

i have never saw a backpack in real life that you can put a mosin 91/30 totally inside of. but if you saw it off like in game then it will fit inside most of them. but in real life if you saw it off too short then the law would get you.

i'm left handed also, i set my keyboard at an angle so my right hand can work the wasd keys well enough to drive . think out side the box. at least till they fix it so you can rebind the keys.
